As for tipping, credit cards are the issue. The business will only process any card one time as their bank charges them each time. My last option was dream spa had to find a place close to my home. Lucky I was to get apt. The place was small but as they say hidden gems are in places one don't assume. I had her focus on my sciatica nerve and shoulders. She spent extra time on my knot in my shoulders. I've come back for 3 more visits and do believe they deserve a 5 star rating on the quality of massage I got. I've had massages by various females masseuse. Great massage... BUT..... Everyone else was booked in area so I took a chance... I paid $90 for a 90 min massage. The massage was great. I tipped the therapist $20. Even seeing me tip the desk person said that the therapist worked really hard and I needed to tip more. A tip is a thank you for a good job. I should have told the desk person that if she thought her employee worked so hard she should pull out that $90 and pay her employee more. DON'T DO IT. Don't support this unethical business. They DEMANDED (more like stole) a $10 tip from me even though I wasn't happy with the service. The only reason I went here was because I couldn't find any other place that had any last-minute openings. Now I know why this place wasn't busy... My massage was done by the same lady that mans the front desk. I know because she took three phone calls during my massage. She was one of the worst massage therapists I've ever had. I asked her multiple times to massage a little softer and she would just chuckle and proceed to murder my back and neck. It was horrible. Because my massage was so bad, I wasn't planning on even tipping, but I figured I'd just tip $6 on the $40 massage (15% tip; not the best, I understand that, but again, I didn't even want to tip) to avoid a fight (I was wrong). I handed the lady a 20 and asked to get change for it. I wanted her to give me $20 in change so I could then hand her the $6, but she instead asked how much change I wanted back. I said $14. She was like, "No $5 tips. We work hard." Then she proceeded to show me a couple of receipts where people had tipped $10 or $20 (a part of me feels like these were old receipts that she just keeps to show people for this same exact reason). Then she handed me a $10 bill and was like, "We work hard. Sorry about that." WTH?! I'm sure I could have and should have put up more of a fight, but it just wasn't worth it. I'm just going to spread the word about this horrible place and make sure no one I know ever comes here. Is that really worth the extra $4 tip for them? I found this place on yelp yesterday and decided to give it a try. Some of the reviews were pretty good and some were not, but it seemed like most of the bad reviews were older. So I called to get the info figuring I'd give it a shot anyway. $40 for an hour long prenatal massage? Sounds good, right? I made an appointment for 11am. At 10:50, I realized I was going to be a bit late, so I called to make sure it was still okay for me to come in. The woman who answered the phone asked me how late I would be and I said about 15-20 minutes. "No problem, come on in!" Great. I arrived at 11:10. A woman came from the back. I told her I had an appointment and had just spoken to someone. She said "You have an appointment?" I repeated what I said. She then said "I'm sorry, we're busy." Fine. I'm not force you to take my money. Edit: I wrote the above in my car after I'd left. While driving home, I got really angry and decided that they owed me some sort of explanation. I called back. Explained what had happened (I made an appointment yesterday, was running late, was told it was fine, and was then told they couldn't see me when I arrived) and asked why they aren't honoring appointments. The woman's response was basically "Can you wait a little while/ I think the other person who told you that was confused". Ummm, no, I already left. I called at noon to ask if I could drop in, and was told that they would be free in an hour. So I made an appointment; pretty good timing to me. Dream Spa is located in the center of the Alvarado Place Shopping Center (behind Burger King). It's kind of a small spot, so it might be hard to find the first time. Their sign is in big red letters, which is helpful. The front of the business is a little reception center. You pay first (I used credit card, not sure if they take debit). The total was $42 + tip. (I decided on a $20 tip.) I'm used to paying after service, but this method allows the customer to leave more carefree and relaxed afterwards. I introduced myself when I went in, but my masseuse didn't introduce herself to me so I don't know her name. She was nice though. I opted for a full body massage. After I paid, I was taken into one of the massage rooms in the back. The place looked cleaned and the lights were dimmed for a more relaxed ambiance. The masseuse steps out so you can strip down to your underwear, lie face down, and cover yourself with the blanket. I thought I was supposed to lay on top of the blanket, so it was kinda awkward/funny when she came back in to start the massage. I read that the bed is kinda hard, but I think it's necessary or else it's much more difficult for the masseuse to massage into your muscles. The masseuse asked me what hardness level I wanted. I started out with "medium" power later decided to go "high/hard." The only way to describe the experience is "heavenly." I didn't realize how hard the knots in my muscles were. She starts off with her hands, and uses lotion after the initial massage. The first few minutes the masseuse massages your body to see where you need work, then she gets to it She spent a lot of effort loosening all the muscles in my traps and lower back. It felt amazingggggg and tickle-ish at the same time. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. The neck massage probably felt the best to me, so next time I'll probably ask her to do my neck a bit longer. It helped relieve the last bit of stiffness I had in my neck from sleeping weird. I also had a lot of tension in my hands and forearms, which I didn't even know I had. The masseuse was also able to tell that I had tension in my feet. Then I was told to turn around, and I got massaged from the front; head, shoulders, and legs. Afterwards, I got a hot towel back massage, and wiped down. Boom. Done. This was an excellent experience for me. I will definitely go back. I would recommend this place to friends and family. Ok first of all, I don't think you should pay up front for a massage. Just cause if you are unhappy with your massage, you have no re-course. A 60 min massage is $45. But if you pay with a card, there is a $1.00 transaction fee. In he beginning there was a lot of pushing/muscle depression. Then she asked me if I wanted my back walked on. She did so. The massage was ok. She used regular lotion and it got soaked up quickly. Anyways, she finished in 54 mins. Thats not 1 hr. I noted the time she left to talk to her co-worked in the hall way. Then she had the nerve to ask for a $20 tip. Then her co-worker walked by as said, she worked hard for that. Ummm...no she didn't. I would rather go to the Thai Massage place. I woke up this morning; neck was very stiff. I knew that if I didn't do something quick I would end up in the ER for a migraine. I called Dream Spa and they said that they could get my husband and I in immediately to come now. They are only about 2 min away so we jumped in the care and went. I chose the Swedish massage. Told her were to concentrate . . my neck and shoulders. She was better than great; it was more like massage therapy when she felt how stiff my muscles in my neck were. She worked out every knot before she even went on to my arms and legs and back. I just had spinal surgery 1.5 months ago. She was very gentle in that area and was very aware of sensitive spots. As soon as my muscles tensed up she knew it was too much pressure and pulled back a little. I have been to many massage parlors and all of them just go until you stay it hurts. Not here. WOW was I amazed. My husband who was in a car wreck years ago has major back issues. His lady worked on only his back and managed to release muscles that have been hurting him for years. We have decided after leaving that this will be a monthly trip for us. We both walked out of there feeling so wonderful. THANK YOU DREAM SPA for the last minute help that you provided me. You saved me an all day trip to the ER for both my husband and I. And can you believe it was only $40!!!!! WHAT?!?!? $40 for all of that?! I've been to this place maybe 5 times. Satisfactory massages (I usually go for medium to hard-ish pressure), decent price and good for walk-ins. HOWEVER, my friend was treated horribly during one of her visits, and that's just downright unacceptable. She received a beating from the woman who mans the front desk (the light pressure she repeatedly asked for was completely disregarded). This same therapist also takes a lot of calls and answers the door often, disrupting the peace and calm that was your massage. After all that, she basically dictated her own tip by not giving my friend the change she asked for. Friendly note to Asian places, TIPS ARE OPTIONAL. They are encouraged, not required. Got there a few minutes early and said I was here to see Lisa and they brought me into the room and said to wait. She was still finishing up with someone so I got to relax there. She came in and asked how I hard I wanted and kept asking throughout the massage if it was ok and to let her know if I wanted different, so nice! I've come here twice. Eva was my therapist each time. She lacked finesse regarding her style. She was also very difficult to communicate with (language barrier). I left feeling like I didn't have that great of a massage. My back and neck became stiff 2 days later. That's way too soon in my book. Makes me feel as though I wasted my money. I should also mention that I asked her if the hair clip she used was washed, but she couldn't answer. I told her to use my clip, and she brought it to me, so I thought that when she clipped my hair she used my clip. But when I got off the massage table (I was face down the whole time), I found my clip near my head. I told her earlier that I was afraid of getting lice, which she couldn't understand either. I really don't like writing low reviews for a place, and though many of the other Yelpers love this place, I unfortunately didn't have the amazing experience everyone else did. Pros: - Lisa was a very nice lady. - The price is somewhat on the cheaper end. Cons: - Had to wait an extra 20 minutes for my massage to start (even though I had made an appointment) - The massage table is pretty hard (possibly a thick type of wood) and no cushion can really disguise how uncomfortable it becomes after an hour of laying on it. - Heard the employees at the liquor store next door talking the whole time during my massage (I blame it on the thin walls) and their alarm every time a customer came in. - Lisa kept on going in & out of the room to talk on the phone. - The massage itself was just ok. I asked her for medium-soft pressure, but more on the soft side. It was definitely much harder than to my liking. I've had better massages and they were much lower priced too. This really isn't that big of a deal, but sometimes it gets slightly irritating: - Before I massage I was asked to pay. I was charged $40 + $2 credit card fee, but then I felt obliged to tip prior to the massage since I had no cash on hand. Unfortunately I gave too much of a tip than I felt was deserved. Though I'm glad many people had a great experience at Dream Spa and highly recommend, unfortunately I don't. But then again everyone is different! read more

Holymoly. I went in this afternoon after spending all last night and all day unable to turn my head (stress? strain? who cares?) and after a deep tissue massage with Lisa my neck feels great! I can turn my head! :D I can't walk upright, but I can turn my head! :D My first thought upon finishing my first massage here was: "I feel like a buttery ninja." And I did. Seriously, this girl does not f**k around. You say deep tissue? That's what you get unless you say "lighter" or, at some point perhaps, "HOLYMOTHEROFGOD!!" Neither which I uttered from my face down bliss, even when I should have (for God's sake!), so it took me 10 minutes to stand up "straight" -ie; holding onto the walls for balance- before I could get dressed and pay this lady her WELL DESERVED TIP!! The price is so reasonable, TIP GENEROUSLY PEOPLE. She earns every dollar, and let me tell you. I like to tip generously anyway, but I gave her everything I had, and wanted to give her more. **It's now been 3 hours since the end of the mighty massage, and after lots of water and motrin and a heating blanket, I feel warm and relaxed. **Also worth a note, I noticed there were 2 parallel bars over the massage table, so I guess they do that thing where they'll stand on your back? She doesnt do any deep tissue.. all she does is use her forearm and rub your back. I told her my neck is tired and in need of concentration... said acknowledged and continues to rub my back. Very good deal for one hour and just 40$. They are very flexible about the timings. You can always change it in last minute if required. Massage quality is also good. They work really hard on giving you the best. They apply the right pressure at the right spot and make sure that you do not feel uncomfortable and painful. I loved it. Wasn't our first choice for a massage parlor but it was decent! 60 minute massages for $45. My boyfriend and I walked in and asked if they had any openings, and we got lucky to be squeezed in. Kind of funny because my boyfriend and I were in separate rooms but we were texting each other wondering if we take our clothes off or what. They literally just pushed us into rooms with no directions. Little later they knocked and looked at me funny and was like "oh, you take clothes off and lay here" oh... duh! but of course we wanted to be sure!
