Attended my cousin's wedding at Running Hare Vineyard and leaving the next day, we wanted good breakfast food. Came to Yelp and this was one of the restaurants highly recommended. Staff was SO friendly!! SO glad we visited! You come in, order your food, PAY and then sit down! Love the whole concept! I had the cream chipped beef and the crab soup. Absolutely delicious! The soup had some type of old bay type seasoning on top and it was AMAZING! My cream chipped beef was also delicious. Hubs got steak and eggs. He scraped the entire plate! My mom had a bagel sandwich and dad had a corned beef sandwich. We all LOVED our meals. I had to use the restroom and the walk to the bathroom was adorable with lots of decorations, chotskies, cool art! The bathroom had a cool sink. The only time I have had good food here was when the owner and Mike weren't there. She doesn't seem to know how to run a business well, and he can't create anything that doesn't taste bland and watery. I would suggest finding something better tasting at Dunkin', or any of the other business's here in Prince Frederick. Every time I've paid for food, it's been cold, soggy, bland, and I'm treated like an inconvenience for daring to order anything. It's too crowded to actually be able to sit comfortably, and tacky looking on the inside. Looks like Barny blew up and got Plastered on the walls. Please do not waste your time, energy, or money on this place. Absolutely horrendous. Go to iHop. At least they have non-bland watery food. read more

Their menu includes both all-day breakfast, brunch, and lunch items, with even weekly specials. We came here a bit past noon, and we ordered: +the Creamed Chipped Beef - your choice of having this with toast or biscuit with a side of home fries; we opted for the toast, which was thick-cut, like Texas Toast, and all buttered up; the chipped beef has a thinner consistency, and this was one was probably one of the best chipped beefs I've had! It was super delicious, and that thick-cut toast really was a great complement to it; the home fries were good, but I should have requested some hot sauce and ketchup! +Baby Hot Cakes - thing with slight crisp edges, these were super delicious! They do provide butter packets and warm syrup; yum! Unfortunately, I they ran out of crab - I wanted to try their Dreamy Crab Dip and their Crab Cake Sandwich, but it was all sold out - wow! Definitely made a mental note to come earlier next time or right when they open! Staff were friendly, but they were definitely short-staffed; they seemed pretty overwhelmed, as they were trying to cater those who where dining in, walking in, picking up orders, as well as those who were calling-in for carry-outs. I placed an order with a human and received the wrong order. I called and spoke to another human as to what happened, drove BACK to get the correct order and it was still wrong. All a girl wanted after a hard surgery was cheese grits. Although attempted to show empathy went into the restaurant being defensive when it was their fault for the wrong order twice. Accountability goes a long way when you're in the wrong. But I can't say if the food was good because I had an incomplete order. read more

Been here before and had a great experience, but not so much today. Not one staff member smiled, and nobody checked to see how our meals were. The quiche had a super weird rubbery texture, like it was made from reconstituted eggs. It was bland and was a very small portion. Not that it mattered because I didn't eat more than two bites. The fresh fruit was mushy, like it had been cut up four days ago. The breakfast quesadilla was a generous portion and pretty tasty and the home fries are always good. read more

So many area restaurants serve microwaved, frozen, fried or bar food. If you like fresh, local, delicious and healthy this is the #1 place to go in Prince Frederick. They do great catering as well. I wish Calvert County would support bringing more small business restaurants with real, fresh, local and healthy food and not fast food chains. I went on a Monday morning for breakfast with friends and it was perfect! My French toast and bacon were delicious and my friends loved the coffee bar, where they could help themselves. Quaint spot much larger on the inside than it appears from the outside. It's very clean and I love the art displayed for sale on the walls. To my delight they sell breakfast all day: 8am-3pm; except Sundays til 2pm. I ordered the items they are known for: First the cream of crab soup, which for $7 a bowl, one can't complain about the quality of the crab nor the shells. It was creamy and had decent flavor but was extremely salty (even for me and I like salt). Could only eat a little. Next I went with the sausage gravy biscut, served with fried potatoes. The potatoes were the highlight of the entire meal! The exterior was crispy, with a perfect amount of seasoning, and tender inside. They serve pieces of potatoe skins sprinkled on the top for additional taste and texture. I'd come back for the potatoes alone. The buttermilk biscuit was lovely as well, full of flavor, tender and flaky. However the gravy was grainy and while not nasty, the consistency was unpleasant. Definitely a spot to visit if you love fried potatoes. Smile! I ordered the key lime bar to go but sampled it in the restaurant. The bar had a decent amount of filling but was more on the sweet side, rather than tart. It was just okay. read more

We went here twice. The food is good, but I really feel like I can make the food at home. The first time I went I ordered a BLT. Nothing to right home about. It was a little dry but nothing amazing...it was literally bacon, lettuce and tomato with a little mayonnaise. Second time I went, I ordered a cheesy crab panini....it was an actual grilled cheese sandwich with crab meat! My husband got the club sandwich, the tomatoes were so over ripe it was inedible! Service is a little different. You order, then find a table and food it brought to you. If you need a refill, you have to go to the cashier and get it. Do not try the cream of crab soup unless you plan on hating every other version of it you have had or will try. Perfect consistency and subtle flavors that don't overpower the soup. Heaven in a bowl. My wife and I had sandwiches which I seem to recall being very well prepared and portioned very large for the price but I was still in a bit of a food bliss coma after starting with the soup so I don't recall clearly. Art for sale hanging on the walls, quirky furniture and eclectic salt and pepper shakers abound here. The food is homemade and not out of a can. In the front corner of the dining room is the coffee. On a shelf is an assortment of eccentric coffee mugs. This place is a little like a hoarder that found someplace to put things and it works. I'm very happy with this non-chain restaurant. Over the years we have probably eaten at this small Cafe six or seven times. So that's a pretty good sample size from which to draw some conclusions and come up with a review. The dining room is fairly small and probably features about 10 tables. There is a smaller dining room in the back near the restrooms. I would describe this restaurant as having modified table service, which means that you stand in line at the counter to order and then they bring the food to your table. Typically they have daily fresh specials as well as a standard menu, but it's not large. Think soups, salads and sandwiches. Everything I've ever had here was above average. It's mostly a lunch place, but they still manage to feed you quickly. Service is friendly. The floors could use a good scrubbing but overall it's clean. As always my rating system is three stars for places to which I would return, four stars for places at which I would like to be a regular and five stars for places to which I would drive out of my way. read more

I've always liked this place but when I was there Thursday, it was very disappointing! Food was delicious but service...awful! Our waitress brought our food and then never came back again. We watched her go to other tables time and time again but not ours! I always hear waitresses calling out people for not leaving tips, well I can tell you, if you don't check on me for more drinks or something we may need, I'm sure not leaving a tip! Crispy Rockfish BLT (tuesday's special) was an amazing! A great value for $9.95, two big strips of fish with plenty of bacon. It was served with a huge serving of slaw, which was just the right addition for extra juiciness and flavor to top the sandwich with. This place caters the lunch at my child's daycare, and I recently found out that they have a restaurant, too. It isn't much to look at, but don't be fooled into thinking they just have a few 2-tops along the wall. There is a larger seating area that isn't obvious from the front door. Everything we ordered was good. My crabcake Benedict is the second best I've had in MD. The price was astoundingly low. One thing that really stuck out was the coffee. Coffee is self-serve, here. The cupboard is filled with random mugs. Take whichever one fits you today. It's a nice departure from the industrial feel of most restaurants. read more
