I found Winner Electric on Yelp search while looking for electricians in the east-of-Portland area…read more I needed an assortment of electrical issues addressed on my home. Open junctions, inoperable outlets and switches, questionable wiring, and unfinished projects: these are some of the trappings of owning an older home. Paul came out to do an estimate on our project. I had the project bid by multiple companies. Winner's attitude, willingness to take on the project, and prompt follow up with a quote earned them the job. We had a scheduling mishap, but I won't take stars off for that. It was resolved quickly. I am super happy with the work completed. The electricians came out and worked most of the day in all areas of my home. They replaced breakers, outlets, switches, and resolved loose and unsafe wiring that was downstairs and in my garage. Winner answered my questions, and if something didn't seem right, they worked together to find the root cause of the issue rather than applying a workaround. I was so happy with the work completed, that I hired Winner back a second time, a couple weeks later, to complete the wiring to an outbuilding and reconfigure the wiring in my garage. That work was largely completed Friday - waiting on a part to finish up a couple aspects, but I'm happy with this work as well. I would use their services again, and I would recommend to others.

Electric Norm had great reviews and seemed to be a local, one-man operation. An eager fellow working hard to run a local business... just the sort of firm I prefer to give my business to. No idea what the history on this operation is but I gather there is no Norm just like there is no Sara Lee or Oil Can Henry. Not a huge deal but... I used the yelp "get a quote" feature which has served me well in the past and sent "Norm" a detailed description of what needed to be done. Basically a simple 15' run of two GFI circuits terminating in a couple of quad receptacle boxes. Probably a couple of hours work at most. Phil, who is apparently the owner responds telling me to call him. Sigh.... if I wanted to call I would have not taken the time to type out such a detailed scope of work message. That and I am hearing disabled and don't have a phone. I inform Phil thusly and am given a list of his requirements to come out which includes providing a mobile phone number to text. I'm wondering what part of "hearing disabled, no phone" went over Phil's head. So minus stars for lack of basic intelligence and reading comprehension skills. And minus more starts for being a "my way or the highway" proprietor who seems to lack basic customer relations. skills. Your experience with this place may well differ from mine. And based on the glowing recommendations here on Yelp it was my expectation that "Norm" would come out, give me a competitive bid and then execute the project quickly and professionally. I wasn't even planning on getting multiple bids assuming the bid I got from "Norm" was in the sane range of a few hunded bucks. So major disappointment there. Extremely rare to be let down by Yelp. Perhaps Phil just has more business than he can handle now and doesn't really need or want mine?

The initial call was followed up with a site visit from a senior electrician. Daniel came to assess the current wiring and to provide a quote for the requested work. The pricing is very reasonable, and I felt like I was dealing with a man who has integrity. They were flexible in scheduling the work, and were able to do it on a Saturday, at my request. I'm very pleased with the results, both functionally and aesthetically, and am really glad I discovered these guys. They are honest, professional, accommodating, and they do excellent work.

They gave me an appointment for someone to come give me an estimate for the job: 2pm on Wednesday. On that day, 2pm came and went with no one showing up. At 2:30pm I texted them to let them know no one showed up yet and asked if someone is on their way. Around 3pm, I called their number but it went immediately into voice mail. I thought maybe they are on another call so I waited another 15 minutes and called again. Again it went immediately into voice mail so this time I left a message. Nothing. By 4:30pm I had given up on them when I finally received a call back and was told there were some "issues" on their end and the next appointment they could give me was a week or more away. No apologies about how they messed up. I told them I will get someone else.

Today we were supposed to be prioritized because of being bumped from last week, but the technician didn't show up today until the end of the 4 hour window.. He was called to our home to replace an old bathroom fan with a new one that my husband purchased. He did, and it's working. My frustration is that when he left, my bathroom, and even outside the bathroom, into my bedroom, there was a thick layer of sawdust everywhere. On clothing, on my AVAPS machine, the vanity, etc. I have asthma so all that saw dust was a major annoyance for me. He should have covered exposed surfaces when he was drilling and closed the door to keep the dust in the bathroom, and then cleaned up after himself, but he did neither. I feel the lack of courtesy to protect the area where he worked and the attached bedroom is a lack of professionalism. I wouldn't have them back.
