BBQ Sandwich with boneless rib tips, with fried okra
    Tina T.

The location is great, so we end up coming here to eat if we are in downtown Duluth and want some BBQ. The food is not bad at all, my BF loved the BBQ sandwich with the rib tips, but it's a little too sweet for me (but I don't like things too sweet) I get the pork plate, we both love the fried orka and I get the green beans for more veggies. We love sitting outside with our dog when the weather is nice. Inside is a little dark, but is fine when the weather is terrible outside. The service is usually good, but I will say sometimes it feels like they need to hire more staff. The folks that work there are nice tho.

As soon as you walk in the door you can smell the smoke coming from the indoor pit in the back corner! Ohhhh it smelled so good. The place is a throwback to old school BBQ spots. It felt like walking back in time. The pulled pork was amazing, great smoky flavored ribs, wonderful Brunswich Stew and amazing sides! Don't forget the desert...they're famous for their banana pudding and they have a chocolate delight pudding!!! Grab you some Dreamland swag as you exit too!

A local spot not too far from my work Dreamland smells like I image heaven smells... When you pull into the lot the over powering aroma of smoked meat wraps you in its warm embrace and gently pulls you into its dreamy hug. Basically the smell is amazing! I've said it before... bottle this smell and sell it as cologne! What man wouldn't love to smell like smoked meat? The location is simple but roomy. They have a long bar area and lots of table space. My group came at lunch time and there was plenty of room. The smoking pit is right in the wall of the dinning area so the wonderful aroma of smoking meat just permeates everything... it isn't Smokey in here though... it just provides more of that great perfume. I got the pulled pork sandwich and a side of wickles. Wickles are these crunchy spicy and sweet pickles that are habit forming. They add a great texture and flavor to just about any meal. The bbq sauce is more of the Carolina sauce type. A vinegar base sauce that is more tangy then spicy. Carolina bbq is good but it is not my favorite... however the food was still good. I just prefer my sauce to be a bit more spicy then tangy. Our service was great... the atmosphere was good, the location nice... I'd eat here again if I was with someone who wanted to... but due to the style of BBQ it just is not my preference and I would not pick the location myself. However if Carolina style bbq is your thing this is where you can strap on your feed bag and belly up the the trough!

Smaller than the other locations I've been too, but equally as Smokey!! Ribs were meaty, Smokey, and fall off the bone. Pulled hog was smokey and flavorful. Housemade chips were FANTASTICALLY crunchy - had to salt them and got some ranch to dip. The green beans were bland and disappointing. Service was fast & attentive. Watch out for the chuckholes in the parking lot.

Dreamland started in Tuscaloosa Al. People traveled from all over Ala to get their ribs. They branched out to other Alabama cities. Now they are in Atlanta. I met my daughter ex-coworker that lives in the Atlanta area for lunch and he suggested this place I got ribs as did he. His wife got chopped pork with slaw and another side, which looked great. Very pleased with my order. Compared to other shops, the ribs are priced reasonably.

Wings were half off, and I'm not talking about the price.
    Brian K.

Very disappointing. Ordered the wings, expecting them to be smoked. Nope. Fried. Not only fried, but little meat. Assume kitchen knew this, which is why the wings were absolutely swimming in sauce. Asked for grilled tenders, but was told they only came fried as well. That tells me the tenders are fresh and probably come out of a bag. Mac & cheese was nothing but Stouffers. Rib tips were again swimming in sauce, which again tells me the kitchen is trying to hide something. Let the flavor of the meat stand on its own The slaw was actually decent. My waiter was nice enough. Check this one off the list.

Fast service and great food. Enjoyed lunch with coworkers (party of 5) and everyone enjoyed their plates as well.

The space itself is new and very nice, clean, with plenty of seating and a great outdoor area. Everyone working there was also very friendly and pleasant. I ordered a sandwich called the Flipsicustioner, which had brisket, cheddar jalapeño sausage, BBQ sauce, and slaw. The brisket was top-notch--tender, juicy, and with a nice bark. The fat was rendered perfectly and practically melted in your mouth. The sausage was excellent too; you could really taste the jalapeño and cheddar. They were generous with the meat portions as well, so I left very full. My only critique was the pickles. They lacked crunch and flavor, it almost tasted like a cucumber dipped in vinegar and placed on the plate. Other than that, everything was wonderful and I will definitely return. They also had a lot of good options for kids and some unique sides.

Ordered some pulled pork to take home to dads. Also some banana pudding! Ambiance is very simple, but comfortable. Will have to bring my friend, LA here to sample the beers - she would get a kick out of the bourbon one! Will be back, will just make sure to say no sour cream please!

Big Easy BBQ - Do Not Waste Your Money or Time Eating Here A…read morefew days ago, I watched a well-known BBQ show that offered a simple rule: if there's no smoke coming from a BBQ restaurant, keep driving. Today, I ignored that advice and regretted it. A friend and I decided to try Big Easy BBQ for lunch instead of visiting one of our usual favorites. After reading positive reviews, we drove more than 30 minutes to see what the hype was about. The first warning sign was the nearly empty dining room at lunchtime. The second was the complete lack of that unmistakable BBQ aroma. Despite both red flags, we stayed. My friend ordered the St. Louis ribs with sides, and I ordered the half chicken with two sides. When I noticed he had barely touched his ribs, he handed me a piece to try. The meat was tough, dry, and tasted as though it had been cooked well in advance and reheated. Unfortunately, my chicken was no better. It also seemed old and reheated rather than freshly prepared. For sides, I chose dirty rice and Cajun BBQ beans. Neither tasted particularly fresh. The dirty rice was acceptable at first but quickly lost its appeal, while the beans were merely average. Having lived in New Orleans for five years, I know what good Cajun and BBQ-inspired food should taste like. This wasn't it. The highlights of the meal were my iced tea and my friend's French fries. Service was equally disappointing. The server checked on us only in passing and showed little interest in our experience. When we requested takeout boxes for the food we barely ate, there was no inquiry about why our meals were largely untouched. We both took our leftovers home, though neither of us was enthusiastic about them. The lesson here is simple: online reviews should never outweigh what your eyes, nose, and instincts are telling you. A busy dining room, the smell of smoke, and trusted recommendations are often better indicators than a collection of glowing ratings. As a final note, my friend and I normally pay separately, but I felt responsible for suggesting this restaurant and paid for both meals. If paying for two disappointing lunches taught me anything, it's this: save your time and money, and eat somewhere else.

My wife's family is from Dallas, TX, and my brother lives in Austin. So, I am no stranger to Texas BBQ. The center of Texas BBQ is brisket, where you either go big or go home. When I got to Sean's large, shiny and modern trailer, and ordered, he asked me whether I'd like it from the flat or point. I chose the point, for its succulence. He pulled out a whole brisket, sliced it in two between the sections, and cut a thick slice out of the point side. It had a beautiful smoke ring, and was the most tender and flavorful and juicy brisket either my wife or I had ever had. The Salt Lick, near Austin, TX was previously the undisputed champion, but no longer. We also had the pastrami, which is not something you normally see offered at BBQ places, though it is a natural fit. For those who haven't had it, Pastrami is corned beef that has been peppered on the outside and then smoked. It is a flavor bomb. Again, I got a choice of the flat or point, and it was so smoky, tender and juicy that we were giggling as we ate it. Top notch. We also tried a half rack of spare ribs. These too were meaty, smoky, juicy and so tender that the bones fell from the meat, and you had to make an effort to find the cartilage because it too was as tender as the meat. These had zero sauce on them, though you could squirt some on if you wanted to; but they didn't need it at all. We also got a horseshoe-shaped link of the home-made sausage. Made with jalapeno and cheddar, it was a bit too aggressively flavored for us. Certainly not bad, but I prefer a mellower, long-smoked sausage to this. Choices I did not try this week, but looked good, included pulled pork, thick-cut pork steaks, ancho slaw, and mac & queso. You can pre-order on the web site, or get there early on Saturdays, to get the full selection. The choices change each week, though I suspect that some things are staples. Check out their Facebook page for the weekly choices. I know I'll be back.

I was here because my brother wanted to celebrate Father's Day and chose this as his place of choice. Nothing says Happy Father's Day like southern BBQ! Lol! My mom and I had questions, the wonderful young lady was nice and patient with us. You order at the line/register and they call your name to pickup your order. I ordered the Judge's Sampler (Leg + Thigh, Smoked Turkey Breast, Brisket, Basket of Fried Okra, Macaroni and Cheese, with Texas Toast, and an order of the 3 sides platter for my little one and I to split since I wanted to try other sides. I ordered the green beans, hush puppies, and additional macaroni and cheese. I also ordered a banana pudding to go. My food was great! From start to finish! My brisket was soooooooo tender! What did the man say, tendernism, and that's what the brisket gave! So did the chicken and turkey! The leg and thigh was seasoned perfectly, and the smoked turkey breast slice wasn't dry at all! It was packed full of flavor and the right balance of tenderness and flavor. It all paired very well with the Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. I'm a fan of mustard based/yellow sauce so I could be bias. The mac and cheese was good, not OMG, I'm going to smack my mama good, but good enough to want more. The green beans were good, the fried okra was too; both could use a tad more seasoning or maybe some more love since I felt like they were missing something super small. The horseradish sauce that comes with the okra did take the okra to another level in relation to taste, so truly no complaints. I was disappointed in the hush puppies since I like sweeter hush puppies, and I asked the young lady at the register were they sweet and she said, "Yes, kind of." Nothing sweet about them; the taste wasn't bad and they were good, yet not the taste I wanted or expected. Nothing against them. I ate the banana pudding when we got home and it was good, yet almost too sweet! I messed around and looked at the caloric count and let me tell you, DON'T if you're counting calories and working on your weight lol! Not bad. 7/10. Everyone ate their food and my mom loved her ribs so much, she bought two individual ribs to go. Minus the high chairs being filthy, the place was clean, real southern and BBQ like decor and layout. Everything I expected for a BBQ place anywhere in the south lol Oh lastly, the price was unbelievably affordable! I spent a total of $35 for all this food WITH taxes! I will be going back! 8.5/10
