I had been dying to come try since they moved into the old Hi Flora space and it did not disappoint! I've been vegan for 11 years and loved the variety of menu items, there really is something for everyone. We came by for happy hour and found the prices and portions to be fair. We also tried the double chocolate chip cookie which was delicious! It's order at the counter and then they are delivered to your table. My only complaint was the music was heavy metal screaming and really loud too, it just did not feel peaceful and I left with a bit of a headache after as well. I think I'd be more inclined to order to go next time or sit on the patio if that's possible.

Got there at 4pm, and had no idea that they only had their happy hour menu, but I got their chicken sandwich which was around $3 off. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but this sandwich was tasty! I loved the coleslaw and had a tang flavor, but I wish there was tomato on it. The fries were great! One thing to improve is for the restaurant to have a seat yourself sign. We were waiting for a host, just to have to ask after 5 minutes. We had no idea we had to order at the counter. Other than that, the place was adorable and definitely an underrated spot on Lyndale.

Food is amazing! Service was great! Vibe is perfect! I had the sweet potato biscuits and gravy - AMAZING! A friend had the blueberry waffles, and another had the Yucca Hash and Cheese Grits. We were all impressed and loved our meals. A vegan's happy place for sure!

We had a fun brunch at Dreamstate. Ambiance was adorable with large sun-filled windows, artsy murals and wildflowers at each table. Service was okay once we figured out that we had to order at the register and the waitstaff was not going to come and get our orders. On street parking was easy and plentiful. I don't normally eat at Vegan restaurants as I'm a big fan of meats and dairy, but still had a great time with delicious coffee. Ambiance 4/5 Service 3/5 Food 2/5 Coffee 4/5 Value 2/5 Blueberry Pancake Latte 4/5, nice change from my normal latte. The pink cold foam was sweet and tart. Blueberry Pancake looked nice. 3 off our table of 6 got this dish. They said it was good, but I'm not sure it was worth the $14 price tag. Curtido Benedict looked good, but my friend did not like this dish and was the only one who didn't join the clean plate club. Breakfast Sandwich looked okay. The vegan sausage was good, but my friend said the sauce was less delicious.

Gluten, dairy and meat free. We're not any of those but still thought this was pretty good. I did find it odd that the menu wasn't super clear on that. Why call something fried chicken sandwich if it's not really chicken?

Dreamstate comes from the folks who gave us Reverie, and like their sister restaurant, it's just as inventive and delicious. The Delicata Squash Donuts are deep fried tempura Delicata and one of my favorite things we got. Also loved the Lion's Mane Steak. If you're a mushroom fan, get the King Oyster Mushroom app. The broth and mushroom are an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Can't wait to come back for breakfast and lunch!

I mostly do 5 star reviews so a 2 star from me means I'm extremely disappointed - and I really don't enjoy leaving a bad review. We went there to grab takeout for lunch. We ordered the Maitake Tacos and the Seaweed Caesar Salad - both $16 each. There was no seaweed in the salad - just a bunch of lettuce and dressing (maybe the dressing had invisible nori sprinkles?) It should have been $8. The tacos were two soft corn tortillas filled with a couple of spoonfuls of a maitake mixture. Nothing else in the tacos and two thirds of the box contained literally cold limp french fries that had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for quite a while. Seriously disappointing and the chef should be ashamed of dishing up something so bad. Maybe they were having a bad day but we're not going back. The reason for two stars and not one is that the restaurant ambience was very nice and my server was great.

The space itself isn't terribly large, and it looked like there were only three or four people working that evening. After being seated, it took a while before we were able to order our first round of drinks. Normally I don't focus much on service in reviews, but we could immediately tell our waitress was not having a great night. We were forgotten about a few times, but eventually managed to order some small bites, including a charcuterie board and some pretty yummy cheese curds. When we finally caught her for our second round, I complimented her glasses since they were similar to mine, partially in an attempt to cheer her up. I was met with a glare and a mumbled "thanks." When she walked away, all four of us kind of looked at each other like... dang, we're not sure what we did. Having all worked in service ourselves, we try to be respectful, stack our dishes, wipe up after ourselves, and generally make things easier where we can. Oddly enough, when it came time to pay, she returned with a completely different attitude... suddenly cheerful, friendly, and telling us to have a great night. Honestly, the whole interaction was a little bizarre! Service aside, the cocktails were balanced and genuinely good, the food was slightly elevated and hit the spot, and the atmosphere was great, especially with the DJ playing that night. We decided to Uber since we knew we'd be drinking, so I can't speak firsthand to parking, although it looked like street parking could be moderately difficult depending on the night. I'd still go back if I were in the area and the night warranted it. My guess is we caught them on an off night or they ended up busier than anticipated.

Relatively easy to find, though you do have to hunt a little bit, Flora Room sits behind a nondescript metal door leading down a short hallway to the entrance. Take a long moment to allow your eyes to adjust if you're coming before sunset; this space is DARK. It's also perfect. Once your "night vision" kicks in you're surrounded by a nice bar, numerous bistro-style tables and booths. Candles adorn the tables creating a nice, cozy place to settle in for drinks. Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy. Savory cocktails and friendly service will stand out and make you want to return. I know we'll seek it out if we return to Minneapolis again. I hope so.

The place itself is pretty loud - both with music and talking, so maybe not the best location for a first date. The drinks are expensive, but the experience was worthwhile for us. I enjoyed the meditteránea. I'll very likely be back! What a neat spot.

They described it as an upscale dive bar which I laughed at for sure, but when I went I would say that exactly how I would describe it. It's dark and moody, but very funky and hip with the neon walls and lights. It's very small, behind the new Public Domain space. Seems like the hostesses direct people waiting on a spot there to Neon Tiger while they wait. We were able to snag one of the last tables after we ordered (there are about 5 tables for 2, and 3 standing bar tables from what I remember). The menu isn't large - it has a couple of beers, some basic cocktails and lists spirits and mixers. The only new and exciting thing on the menu is their slushy cocktails. Good news is that this place isn't very pricey, but the portions aren't huge. My small espresso martini was $12, my boyfriend's beer didn't quite look like a full pint but was only $4. We did laugh that it was called Tiger piss. The espresso martini is good, but beware there's no actual cream liquor in the drink - they seem to squirt some foamy concoction from an unmarked squeeze bottle in a fridge on top, which was interesting. Overall, would come back here if I was bar hopping for cocktails - but wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. Great idea to send people here while waiting for Public Domain!

Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."
