I honestly was not expecting much from this spot. My cousin brought my gf and I here for a late lunch and I was suspect from the start. After using the restroom, which was reminiscent of a subway restroom both smell and look, I came out thinking no way am I ordering the seafood. After choosing the meatball Parm, my cousin informed me that they were known for the raw bar. He promised me the seafood was top-notch so we ordered Calamari as an appetizer. It was unbelievable. They used every portion of the squid and even battered it just right. My cousins chefs hamburger was perfectly cooked and my meatball parm had fresh oregano instead of dried. The new location may look pretty but the food and menu are not the same. Way less choices and the food is mediocre at best. They didn't even have dessert! A lot of the old menu items are gone: smoked brisket, cheese plates, poutine- all gone. Drewby's at the old location was AMAZING. It could easily have been on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The food was gourmet and the atmosphere was dive-y. We went to the new location one time and will never go back. We will just have to be satisfied with our memories of the old place. read more

I love this place. Food is always exceptional. Service is good too. I always go with one of the specials that are available just about every night. Meals are affordable. I've been going to Drewby's about every other week for a few years. The best thing about Drewby's is the food. Consistent at great prices. Wait staff can be either very good or very bad. Not a great selection of draft beers. Usually a couple of good ones but you don't need three lite beers on tap. Fruit flies can be a problem but haven't seen them lately. They're moving so this may help. They could easily be 4 stars if they improved some non food items. read more

I'm w Manville resident and frequent patron of Drewbys. They have yet to disappoint me in my time coming here. The varied menu, rotating specials and numerous drink taps and offers are more than I can keep up with. My front door is less than 50 feet from drewbys and they treat me like family every time I'm here. Anybody who gives this place less than four stars is not rating it according to what it is; and that is a great local sports bar. It's not a five star restaurant or a toe and blazer affair. So lose that expectation up front. If you want good food and drink that is disproportionately better than everything in the local area, then come to Drewbys. read more

I always hear great things about this place so my girlfriend and I gave it a shot. We both usually just drink water but with their drink menu she got some blue razz drink (alcoholic drink) she said it was absolutely phenomenal! For food the salad I had a little more dressing then we would like but it was still a fresh salad and the read they gave you was fresh baked you don't see that into many places. For the main course I had a prime rib sandwich that was cooked absolutely to perfection it melted in your mouth she had penne pasta with vodka sauce she orders this a lot but she said this one had to be one of her favorites! A coupon from restaurant.com convinced my husband and I to give Drewby's a try. I had read there was a chef doing some interesting things there, but the outside isn't very enticing. I'll admit that the inside isn't any more attractive - think neighborhood bar/pizza joint. What I'd heard was right, though - in addition to the pizza and basic bar food on the menu there are some interesting choices indeed. Fish and chips with a lemon aioli that was clearly made in-house and not out of a jar. Grilled figs with goat cheese, pecans, and balsamic vinegar. Pan seared salmon with a citrus vegetable orzo. All the desserts sound great, and appear to be made in-house. There are downsides - the atmosphere is as I described, the parking situation isn't fabulous, the inside is noisy and the service is slow (but friendly and well-meaning). None of these have been bad enough on two visits to keep us from going back again. There's many more things I need to try. read more

I stumbled upon this little gem of a place in 2004 when I moved to Somerset County. From the outside & the inside, to the casually clad jeans & shorts wearing wait staff you would never guess how good the food is. Their Brick Oven Pizza rivals the pizza I had in Italy & they are always consistent. The stuffed portobello mushroom is fabulous. Always very creative specials. Wouldn't recommend the white clam sauce only because they use the little tiny clams, unless you don't mind digging through your bowl of hot pasta to de-shell those little buggers. I go to Drewby's about once or twice a month. It is legitimately one of my favorite restaurants in the area and whenever me and my fiancee are stumped on where to go for dinner we usually end up here. I guess you could say its our go to restaurant. Although many people believe this is your run of the mill dive bar in Manville with sub par food that could not be farther from the truth. The food is delicious and very creative. The chef always finds ways of putting things together that you never would have thought of and makes it awesome. Although the regular menu is great I usually go for something off of the specials menu. The specials menu always has a lot of items on it and they always look amazing. One of my favorite appetizers is the crispy artichoke with with shaved provolone, olives, and balsamic. Also the wings are a solid chose which come in a ton of different sauces, but you have to ask for the list of sauces because the wings aren't on the menu. For an entree all of the sandwiched are great which come with a half sour pickle and your chose of salad or french fries. Also any of his seafood entrees either on the specials or regular menus are great. For dessert they have the menu written on a chalk board. All are amazing. The ambiance of the place is okay. It is very dark and there isn't much separation between the bar and dinner area. It is very loud as well. The chairs are lopsided when you sit on them. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was okay. They didn't put much sauce on so it was a little dry. The salad and French fries were excellent though. I almost don't want to review Drewby's because it is our favorite place and sometimes gets crowded and I want to be able to get a table there! It is always great. Never had a bad meal. We usually order something from the specials menu, but if nothing sparks my interest there I always fall back on mussels in a spicy red sauce and a small caesar salad. The mussels come with a HUGE piece, heck it's really a loaf, of toasted bread. Draft beers are cheap. The food is VERY reasonable. Sometimes they have live music. This is definitely a case of the decor not matching the food. It's sort of a cross between a low-rent family restaurant and a divey bar, but the food is not to be missed. My boyfriend and went for a nice lunch. He having been there prior to their relocation was very excited to introduce me to this manville eatery. The bartender seemed to be running both tables and bar, we never saw any other personal. We ordered 2 appetizers and while I ordered a chiken ranch chop salad my boyfriend ordered the pulled pork JD BBQ sandwich. The server/bartender was extremely nice and efficient but the food was terrible. My boyfriend immediately took the soggy bread off his sandwich and after just 1 bite pushed his plate away. It had no flavor of JD or BBQ sauce as the menu claimed. After taking only the second bite of my salad I bit right into a chicken bone. The server was informed and requested to take it back to show her boss. At that point we expected someone to come out and at least apoligize...we never heard another word about it and were given our bill. We left shocked that the food was so disappointing and when a bone in a chop chicken salad was found still attached to a piece of chicken, that there wasn't even a courtesy to apologize or be thankful that I had not choked on it. We will never be returning and my boyfriend having been ti a previous location with great food was extremely disappointed. read more

Don't let the location and exterior fool you. Although it is a casual bar atmosphere, the food is great. I've brought about 15 different people from my office here and the common response was "wow, this place is really great, I always thought it was just a bar". Although you can get basic bar food here (wings, nachos etc.. and all are great), you can also get great entrees and specials that will rival, and beat, 90% of the more upscale restaurants in the area (Bridgewater, Somerville, New Brunswick...). I went to Drewbys last night with and enticement of a groupon. Before I went I had taken a look at the menu and was really excited since there was quite the selection (Tappas as well as other things). i have to say I did have a good time and the wait staff was very friendly but I think Drewby's is spreading itself too thin as far as both the decor and menu is concerned (Is Drewby's a dive bar a fancy eattery?) We had ordered the cheese plate, poutine, ceasar salad, and Old world Pizza. I would go there if you want a dive bar with decent pizza, stay away from the fancier food. read more
