As stated already, service is slow, so just pack your patience. Most guest seemed either annoyed by the slowness, or just ignored it. If it's not too crowded, you could definitely just hang out there for hours. Food- had the pulled pork fries. Server recommended it as best thing on the menu due to quantity and price, probably agree. This was $13. But most items are typical island prices. Had spicy margarita $15, but good. So this past Friday was National Burger Day. I love burgers and will eat them pretty much anywhere I go to. Took a quick dip in the jacuzzi and swimming pool, the pool menu had drinks and a burger on the food menu side. Made my way to Driftwood Bar & Grille towards the salt water swimming pool. Looks like other hotel guests are slowly waking up, also making their way to the pool and bar. The bar only had 1 lady bartending with all sides of the bar with guests. I couldn't seem to figure out where to sit, how to get myself known wanting to order something. She was going from one side to another, then I finally asked if I could order something. All I wanted was a Kauai Beef Cheeseburger. It was really quiet, no music, not even the television was turned on to a sports channel or the news. Of course, here comes more chickens with its chicklets. Food arrived in about 15 minutes by another staff, I guess there was a total of 3 girls working the pool/bar area. Burger was good, cooked well, nice and hot crispy French fries with all the fixings. I understand people are getting back to work as more travelers are hitting the islands. I just wonder why there seems to be so little staff running the bar. The foods got to be good because the customers next to me ordered the same item the day before and came back for more drinks. Having stayed at the place next door twice over the last couple of years, I've come had the opportunity to come here several times over the course of both my stays. Each time the bartenders have been very quick, friendly, and attentive - service overall has been great! The food/drinks area but pricey, but quality is great! Heads up, the slushies are a bit syrupy - but i know some people like that. For me, I really liked the mai tais (I wish they had the same foamy mai tais they have at Shutters but we can't have everything lol), ultimate favorite was the lilikoi margaritas! She wears black gloves as well which is pretty gross because she is just spreading bacteria by touching everything with her gloves on. They don't have high quality drink options. I asked her if she had Prosecco and she said she had Corona. Ok, those are 2 completely different things. One is a sparkling wine, and one is a beer. She said she only had champagne. It wasn't good but I settled for it. For a pool bar located at a pretty decent resort, they should look for better staff that can spread aloha. I would basically only eat here for convenience. It is the only place at the hotel that is open during the day so if you don't have a rental or don't feel like catching an Uber, this is basically your only option for lunch. Being convenient, expect overpriced food and drinks. The service is friendly, but very slow. I don't know if I came at on off time or maybe should've just sat at the bar so I wouldn't feel forgotten. I sat by the shaved ice place and my server was really nice, but barely to be found. Took a while to get my water, take my order, and I basically never got checked on at all and was waiting to get my bill and a to go box. I ordered the KBR burger and it was a little on the dry side, but had good enough flavor. The food comes on a disposable plate and in a steamer basket, which was just kinda weird to me. They don't have bottles of condiments so if you want ketchup with your fries, I hope you like squeezing 10 ketchup packets. Since it is outdoors, the roosters and chickens will constantly be hanging out around you and flying in your table to try and get your food. read more

One of the better options at Kauai Beach Resort, which isn't saying much, everything is expensive and for the most part, not that great to begin with! However, I found Driftwoods to have decent food, at a much more reasonable price than at Naupaka Terrace or even Shutters. I had a wrap, and it was pretty good but nothing special. My wife had a salmon burger, which was pretty good. We also tried their chips and salsa - disappointing. Just what it said it would be, but not good for the price at all... Chili cheese fries were great when we tried them the next day however. If you're stuck at the resort without a car or just don't want to go out, Driftwoods isn't a bad option, and having your food delivered poolside is a nice perk as well (just be ready for a pretty long wait) Overall, not bad. Just not deserving 4 stars. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. read more

Came down from the room after having a can of Maui bikini blonde. Ordered a bikini blonde from the tap and it wasn't bikini blonde, had to be Sierra Nevada. Maybe the bartenders are fooled but I am not. I'm not surprised as everything other than the room in this place has been very substandard. I'm from San Diego. The food at Driftwood's is spot on bar/grill food. The real draw to this place is the location. It is a stone's throw from the beach and surrounded by three pools. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. The drink menu is made up of a decent amount of mixed cocktails and the servers are good for giving you plenty of booze with the drink (which was great!). Find a seat and strap in for a very long wait though. Only certain people acknowledged my presence at this establishment and when they did I ended up waiting an excessive amount of time to get anything. The first visit to Driftwood's I was handed a menu and, after selecting my lunch and drink I told one of the staff "Whenever you are ready I am ready to put an order in." She looked at me, said "Ooookaaayy...?" (just like that. It was very weird) and walked away. I then waited another ten minutes before another staff asked me if I wanted to order (all the while three staff, including the apparently confused one) stood in the corner and chatted with each other. The drinks were good, the food was decent, everything was pretty expensive and the service is excruciatingly slow. It is worth a try though. read more

Service was very slow - we waited 20 minutes with no service and even after going up to the bar to request some help it took another 10. Maybe not a big deal if you are just there to relax by the pool but we were with 2 increasingly bored toddlers. Food was awful. Fish tacos were dry covered in some tasteless pink sauce and the tortilla wasn't even warmed up. My 2 year old daughter ordered a hot dog and what she got looked like it had been rotating on the spit in 7-11 for a couple years. read more

We came here everyday on our vacation. Such a great atmosphere and place to hang out for happy hour! The mai tais were our favorites and we were also able to try some local beers on tap as well. The food is okay, if I can go somewhere else I will but if I've been drinking I have no problem staying and getting some food but it's nothing special. Driftwoods was the first place we stopped after checking in at the Kauai Beach Resort and settling in. It was not a good first impression. We made sure to check in with the bartender and another staff, who told us to sit anywhere. We sat and waited. The oldest asked to go in the pool. We said okay. And waited. I went up to the bar to ask if we needed to order there, and the dude said someone would be right with me. So we sat down and waited some more. Finally a few gals we met at the next table hailed our server down (thanks, ladies-you are awesome). Not okay. She was friendly once she started serving us, but really? Anyway, the food was decent. Kiddies liked their burger and nachos. I thought my panini was okay. Hubby had the burger, too. We had two drinks each; mine were weak but good. Hubby opted for beer. The bill: $98.18, pre-tip. Yikes! Poor service for one of the most expensive meals on the island? I'll pass. The only other use we made of Driftwoods was for drinks by the pool. That's all I recommend, and just so you can get your drinks by the pool resort experience. read more
