We fell in love with this place. It is a gem. We went three happy hours in a row. The beer is good, the servers are amazing, and you can't beat the view of the mountains through the windows. Go!!! Happy hour is from 3:30 to 5:30. We had the fish and chips.

    Loco moco

We wanted to try a local joint for loco moco. I'm sad to say this wasn't it. The patty was pretty bland, and so was the sauce. If you come here, get something else. The limeade was good, though.

Delicious food and great service -- no wait even around 12:30 on a Friday afternoon! The market across the street was packed, but that was expected. I ordered the Gorgonzola burger, which was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My husband had the fish and chips made with flaky ono (aka "sea chicken") -- absolutely delicious! The Mai Tai and local beers were ice cold and hit the spot. Our total was about $75 for two, which felt very reasonable for a tourist town. We'll definitely be back!

    Wilted Cesar Salad - yuck
    Brian M.

This place is now under new ownership. The prior owners moved back to Virginia, and the new ownership changed some things, but not for the better. The Cesar salad is not fresh tasting at all. It is wilted and the dressing tastes store bought. My biggest sadness was that this used to be one of my favorite club sandwiches. They used to use soft fresh bread and good quality meat. They now use hard plain toasted white bread and they didn't even cut it like a club sandwich into 4 pieces. Service was fine but she did not even pass out the silverware, napkins or appetizer plates. Just dropped it off at the end of the table and walked away. We have recommended this place for many years to many people, but this place is now a pass.

I ate here twice which tells you that i enjoyed it. Although it is called gourmet, the menu has fish and chips, burgers and sandwiches. Overall, the place is casual. I loved the vibe of the place and the big windows behind the bar which look out on the Island. I was tempted to hang out and have a second drink. I had the fish sandwich on one day and the gargonzola burger on the other. Both were good but I was surrpised that I barely tasted the gargonzola on the burger. My partner said that both the po boy and fish and chips were good both of us thought the portions were generous. The service was friendly! I would definitely go back!

This was a very underwhelming experience for a place that advertised itself as seafood. I'm not sure why this is rated number 1 on yelp for the Hanalei vicinity unless all the other options taste so much worse (though I cannot say since this was my only do I h experience in this area of Kauai. ...It was more akin to overpriced bar food Ps. Watch out for raw onions in your club sandwich (unless you're okay with that )

Easy going atmosphere in an old school building. Great service and the food... fantastic!! We will definitely be back!

Fresh Island fish sandwich on gluten-free bun

This little local restaurant was a little hidden gem located in the Hannalei shopping center old Hanalei school. It's been here for a while. You can tell by the decor for the building. You can sit inside or out and they have the doors open so the wind was going through, which of course made me cold. But they have gluten-free buns. So I was able to get a Burger and side salad because the fries were preseasoned and therefore not gluten-free which seems to be the theme on this island. Smh. The young lady who took our order was very friendly and gluten-free herself so she knew exactly what I was going through and has a list of items that can be gluten-free. I ordered Fresh Island Fish Sandwich at $26.95 Grilled fresh garlic buttered fish served with a lemon caper dill mayonnaise and "the works" on a toasted gluten-free bun. It was huge! Juicy and very flavorful. The House salad was also huge and the house thousand Island dressing that came with it was delicious. My husband ordered Moe's Ultimate Burger at $23.95 with Guacamole, bacon and pepper jack cheese with "the works" and his came with the seasoned fries. It was a huge burger as well and very flavorful. He enjoyed it. We ordered the virgin piña colada's at $7.75ea. They were in a 10-120z or regular size glass and tasted pretty good coming in at a cool third place. There's a bar inside that you can sit with TVs to watch surfing and or games. The decor is paintings from local artist from what I gather that you can also purchase. We'll definitely visit here again.

Awesome neighborhood bar with some of the BEST fried fish and chips!! Although this is a small place, and table space is limited, the food is always fresh and on point! One of the best, classically made and underrated Mai tais in Hanalei! Just when you start sipping the second Mai Tai, you realize whoa that first one was STRONG! IYKYK. Had the fish and chips for the second time, just to make sure it was that good...and it is!! Piping hot...juicy, fresh fish. Be careful not to eat too fast or you will burn the crap out of your tongue and i mean this in a good way Also, i don't have a pic but their roasted garlic ceasar salad is to die for!! Huge chunks of roasted garlic!! Service is always very attentive, even if at times slow... you are on island time now! Be sure to grab an early seat on Thursdays for the live music. Can't wait to go back soon!!

Great service by the hustling and hard working gentleman who served and seated us. The spot has a casual ambiance and local charm. The meals were all very delicious and the fries were perfectly cooked, crispy, and well seasoned. Only one star less than 5 since it is a little pricey for the value -- $16 for one taco is steep, and the $10 for the added chicken on the salad felt high too. But overall a really pleasant experience. Bathrooms were nice and clean too.

I ordered the Teriyaki Burger with fries and a Lava Flow, and both really hit the spot. The burger had a great sweet-and-savory balance from the teriyaki glaze, pineapple, slaw, and shoyu mayo. It was messy in the best way, with plenty of flavor, and the fries were a solid side. The Lava Flow was also a highlight: tropical, creamy, fruity, and very photogenic. It felt like the perfect vacation drink. Overall, Tiki Iniki is a good pick if you want a casual meal, fun drinks, and a lively tiki-bar vibe. I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a Lava Flow and a burger.

The worst mai tai I have ever had. My god. Ordered the "top shelf" Mai tai, and it was absolutely brutal. First, it wasn't shaken OR stirred. What does this mean? It was served one ingredient on top of the next, room temperature, and tasted like a hot mess. We actually felt sick from it. The amount of syrup this bartender used was crazy. She's either not tasting her drinks, or has just fried her taste buds doing god knows what over the years. Please, for your customer's sake, train the bartenders.

The vibe was great, not too loud not too quiet with live music and a great view of the Kauai mountains! Highlights of the food were crispy rice, ahi roll, and the black sesame mochi muffin for dessert. If we went back I would get like five orders of the black sesame mochi muffin. The only complaint I have is that the hostess was very rude when we checked in. We checked in with her a little early before our reservation and she told us we had to wait until our reservation time which was fine but she was very rude in tone and words and immediately after another host came up to tell us they could actually seat us immediately. It was a bit of a salty first impression so that's why I docked a star but everything else made up for it after. She was a young blonde with a ponytail so she could be the same person I saw another review mention but I'm not positive. Other than that, the staff and food was amazing! Additionally, the dj/live music was great! Awesome music taste.

Our server, Derek, was outstanding--professional, attentive without hovering, and his recommendations were excellent throughout the evening. Managers Imelda and Martin both stopped by our table to ensure everything was meeting our expectations, a thoughtful touch that reflects the hospitality of the entire team. Even Ms. Kai, the evening's DJ, came over to ask whether the music volume was comfortable. I appreciated the gesture, and despite being the birthday "old man" at the table, the music struck just the right balance between lively and enjoyable. The food was equally memorable. The Crispy Rice with Local Spicy Ahi was a terrific way to begin the meal, followed by flavorful Chicken Karaage. We also enjoyed an outstanding selection of sushi, including the Hamachi Roll, Local Ahi Roll, Chili Salmon Roll, and the beautifully prepared Seared Wagyu Nigiri. Each dish was fresh, thoughtfully presented, and showcased the quality of the ingredients. To finish the evening, the Black Sesame Mochi Cake with Burnt Cream Gelato and Hawaiian Red Salt was a wonderful birthday dessert and the perfect ending to an exceptional meal. Welina Terrace combines excellent cuisine, gracious hospitality, and a vibrant atmosphere overlooking Hanalei Bay. It was one of the highlights of our stay at the 1 Hotel Princeville, and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Kauai.
