The cat decor really lends itself well to the theme of the overall cafe. The only thing missing is real cats and this place can evolve into a real 'cat-cafe'! The staff are very friendly and answered all of the questions that we had about the menu since it was our first time here. I had already been leaning towards trying out one of their matcha teas as I planned my order before arriving, so I ended up ordering the uji matcha cheese tea with brown sugar boba add-on. I was excited to taste their foam and was pleasantly happy with the outcome! I liken it to the taste of Japanese cheesecake; cheesy with the right balance of sweetness and savory. If cheese foam isn't really your thing, Cheese Tea does offer customers other types of drinks available to order such as fruit teas, smoothies, or the option to omit cheese foam from any milk tea. The store in not super big with a few tables and chairs. However it was very clean, bright and tidy. They have a very open kitchen and you can see everything that they are doing when making you're drink. Got the seasonal fruit tea with green tea and it was yummy. Just like the fruit teas that they serve in China. They have sliced fruits like watermelon, apple, orange, limes, and passion fruit inside. The fruit made the tea sweet in a natural way and you get to eat the fruit afterwards. The watermelon tasted a bit old? Maybe spoiled to me. So that was not good, but the rest of the fruits tasted fresh. They also have a fridge with a variety of fruits displayed and they actually use the fruits in their drinks. Another drink that I tried was the strawberry milkshake. I wanted to get the strawberry smoothie with real fruit topped off with a cheese cap. But when I got my drink it was more like a strawberry milkshake. I remembered I specifically asked for cheese but my drink didn't have any cheese on top. Maybe there was some confusion in the ordering process? But I just drank the drink anyways. The strawberry smoothie tasted like the Japanese milky strawberry candy. It was a little artificial tasting which I didn't like but it did not taste bad. Prices are average but a little more on the expensive side. I loveeee cheese cap. Obsessed. So when I heard that a new cheese milk tea place was coming into town I kept begging my boyfriend to go Gyu Kaku so we could go to Cheese Tea for dessert! Wow, the prices are really expensive compared to other milk tea and smoothie shops we have in town. I got their FRESH mango smoothie with cheese cap. When I got my drink, I could tell it was one of those "icy" smoothies...oh no. I love my smoothies...well, smooth? Also for 7 dollars, I would expect it to be a regular smoothie. Not an icy one. Let me start off by saying, if you're planning on coming here for a few hours with some friends, do yourself a favor and park on the street. My friends and I made the mistake of staying for a couple of hours and we ended up paying close to $7.00 for our parking tickets with validation stickers that you purchase from the cashier. So spending about $14.00 with drink and sitting around chatting was not worth it. Drinks are a little pricier because of their speciality in cheese foam. It was definitely interesting but I would not reorder. I had the jasmine tea with cheese foam and it was too salty and bland. Cheese was foamy and salty, jasmine tea tasted very watered down. There was a group of 4 of us and it took a while for each drink to be served and made. The first taste was alright but if you don't drink your tea relatively quickly, the cheese starts to breakdown and mix in with the rest of your drink. Overall tasted like a salted tea with milk towards the end. The cafe itself is very cute in interior. Everything was cat themed and very kawaii. Space is limited as it's on the smaller side. For myself, maybe I'll order a drink again if I'm in the area, but I won't be venturing out just for the drinks. read more

Cheese Tea - let me just explain because I know a bunch of my friends from the mainland are turning green. Here in Honolulu the yummiest thing on top of your boba tea is a cheese cap. Ok still not helping anything am I? let me try this: Sweet creamy silky sugary tea with brown sugar tapioca pearls that are richly delicious followed by a cap of whipped cream only the whipped cream is THICKKKK and a little salty for that sweet/salty balance. And OMG, the goodness!! If you are lucky you could find this at a boba shop on the mainland but I know we don't have it where I come from and I kinda turned my nose up until my friend talked me into it and now I get it every time! Since Cheese foam is all the rage right now, I thought it would be perfect to go to Cheese Tea and compare everyone's style of the popular cheese foam! I really didn't have any problems at Cheese Tea other than the price. The place was a cute little cafe located in the same building at Gyu Kaku Kapiolani, so there's ample amount of parking with validation. The staff were very friendly and answered all of the questions that we had about the menu since it was our first time there. My boyfriend wanted to try the Plant Oreo Matcha which included cheese foam, and I got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea. The Brown Sugar Milk Tea didn't come with boba or cheese foam, so I had to pay separately. The total cost for my drink with boba and cheese foam was $6.50 and my boyfriend's Plant Oreo Matcha with boba was $6.00. I did think that it was a little more expensive than most milk tea places mostly because the cheese foam was $1.25. Although the price does start to add up when you add all the toppings, it was a nice experience with good taste and I recommend people to try it if they're looking for a new place for a milk tea! read more

I enjoyed my milk tea and although you don't customize the sweetness, it was pretty spot on and balanced. The cup is more durable and the lid having a place for the straw is a nice touch so you don't stab the plastic seal and get it all over... I happened upon this place around 11PM after looking for a boba place that was still open. After finding parking in one of the side streets, I walked into a small store located on Kapiolani in one of their busy office buildings. At first before the 10% off, it does seem a bit pricey but after the discount it came out to about $16 for three drinks. I also highly recommend this place for those who are a fan of cheese foam. Almost all of their drinks have a cheese foam (salted whipped cream) directly on top. I tried the cheesebrulee and the fruit green tea and I enjoyed both. One was rich and creamy and the other was refreshing. Another ting to keep in mind is that their boba texture isn't as chewy as other places and it is a bit more firm. Either way, I recommend trying a fruity drink and a milk tea base drink. *If you check in on yelp, they offer a 10% off coupon for your entire order. Parking is either going to be street parking or you can even park in the building itself for a cheap price. This place has been on my "boba to-do list," since my coworker suggested it to me. Today, I decided to bring my friends along with me. The manner in which the shop was decorated is just so cute! I love the nuances, from the cats to the decals, to the pillowcases, and the tiny plants. Just everything was thought out nicely. I am a sucker for anything cute and kawaii--that's just me. Also, they sell lovely souvenirs in the shop like coasters, phone cases, magnets, and keychains. Speaking of little souvenirs, I suggest that this shop should sell reusable boba straws as well since there is currently a metal straw trend that is more environmentally friendly. Totally tempting, but I passed for the day. We were greeted once we walked in. Just looking at the menu, I was just indecisive because there were so many delicious-looking drinks. I knew that I wanted to try the cream cheese topping, so I decided on getting the Plant Matcha with boba, while my friends settled for the regular milk tea with the cream cheese topping. The Plant Matcha is matcha milk tea, oreo crumbs, and the cream cheese topping in one drink. The drink itself was delicious. It wasn't too overbearingly sweet, as the saltiness of the cheese balanced everything out. But, one tip is to thoroughly combine the cheese topping with your drink because once you reach the bottom of the drink, the cheese topping accumulates to the base and its very potent by itself--in my opinion. However, if you are a huge fan of cheesecake, the topping tastes precisely like cheesecake, but in liquid form. Also, you can't forget the tapioca. I'm pretty picky about the texture of tapioca; I like it to be chewy, but not too soft or hard. The consistency of the boba here was a hit. In general, I enjoyed my experience here at Cheese Tea. I would come back again to try all of their other drinks. Too bad I live on the west side of the island, I would make this place my go-to study spot if it were closer to home.
