Went to the sunrise shack during vacation and fell in love instantly. All locations you stumble upon on the island are great. Acai bowls are a must try and the service will always help you figure out what to pick! I'd recommend finding a location close to the beach so you can sit on the sand and enjoy your acai bowl! Best snack. Best acai!!
Got visibly sick after consuming the I lava bowl and the Mac nut bullet coffee. The strawberry smoothie bowl was not blended, so there were frozen chunks everywhere, and the Mac nut bullet coffee also had chunks of nuts throughout the drink. Wait time was quite long - I was the second order there and waited for about 15 minutes to get everything. I believe they were training new staff, so maybe this was a one-off, but this was disgusting. Recommend going down the street to island vintage.
This smoothie and a side bowl shop is very quaint and cute and locally owned. I ordered the tropical smoothie and it was very tasty and not too sweet. Prices are on the higher side, but you can tell it's quality ingredients and fruits. The young kids working they were all super friendly and made my smoothie pretty quickly. Ambience wise, I love how they made their interior so fun and aesthetic. It really fits the sunrise vibe. One downside to this location is that they have no indoor seating and only patio seating... and they have a sign about birds stealing food, so just something to keep in mind.

Their coffee drinks are all of the classics, with me gravitating towards the iced americano, the both days I was here. A very smooth drink, that with one pump of sugar free vanilla syrup took the edge off the bitter finish of espresso. Each day I was here, the wait time was very short. Even when they were busy, the most I waited was two to three minutes. There's just small counter to sit at, but most people use it to wait for their food and/or coffee. Definitely not a place to sit and get some laptop work done. Also, why are you working? You're in f*cking Waikiki, go to the beach! Good coffee, no wait, it's a win win!
So close to my hotel a lovely walk over several mornings. Absolutely LOVED the monkey bread, they don't skimp on toppings. Peanut butter, banana, honey, cacao nibs... all on a well toasted sourdough. Very yummy and satisfying. However I did not like the monkey bowl or the monkey shake at all... (I'm pretty positive I'm the minority) but the base that was used seemed to be the same and I just simply didn't like it. They do have different flavors, but not worth it to me to waste money when I KNOW the monkey toast is fantastic so I'll stick with that whenever I get lucky enough to return.

When I asked about the status of my order, one of the workers said they'd check--then just disappeared and never came back with any update. Communication and customer service were basically nonexistent. When we finally got our bowls, they were overpriced, undersized, and underwhelming. The açaí was melted and had a weird texture--definitely not the smooth consistency you'd expect. On top of that, the bowls were missing toppings we paid for. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience. Poor service, long wait, and a product that didn't live up to the hype or the price. I won't be returning.
Hidden somewhat behind a hotel, it may be hard to spot this acai bowl place, but we had heard good things about it social media, so we were on a hunt to try out this spot as our first acai bowl destination in our trip. Decided to start off with a classic acai bowl. This location does provide the option to get a small size, which is nice if you just want it as a snack/aren't too hungry. The acai bowl is quite simple: not much fresh fruit and mainly granola as a topping. The acai base was alright as well in my bowl, but in my friend's bowl, the acai was literally.... frozen solid to the point where you couldn't even eat it because it was so hard and the plastic spoon wasn't strong enough. After trying other acai bowl places in Oahu after that, I can say that the bowl I had here was definitely bottom ranked.
If you're used to Playa Bowls, you won't like this place. The base was very liquidy which felt like a watery smoothie and not a solid base. It was also very sour, and pricey (probably due to the location). This location is pretty small right outside of Duke's which is easy to find. The service was decent as well.
Easy eats açaí bowls nearby several hotels. Went for a quick açaí bowl run before enjoying the rest of Waikiki beach. Not much of a line and everyone was friendly. Took a little bit for the açaí bowl to be made, but was pretty good once ready. Would come back. read more

Over the years I have had every single one of their fruit smoothie bowls and always enjoy them. They're pricey but fun. I went out on a limb this week and got their Pacific Tuna sandwich with side salad and it was the worst. Firstly, not fresh. The lettuce on the sandwich was black-soggy, tuna was sooooo dry, really creating an overall dry tasteless sandwich. I can't believe how expensive this terrible sandwich was. They make it to-order and it took almost 20 min when no other customers were there. Now onto the side salad: it was the same mixed greens that had gone bad (black soggy) and with no dressing at all. Now for service: it's very transactional. You order at a counter and don't get asked for anything but your order, then to tip. Every single time, no matter who is working. read more

Sunrise shack is very cute and can have a bit of a line sometimes. I ordered their tropical bowl, which was very sweet with honey. The order came out fast, which i appreciated. The serving size is decent too, with even the small big enough to share. I will say that the Papaya bowl is good but the portion is incredible small. The Sunrise Shack was beneath the Twin Fin Hotel where we stayed during our trip in Waikiki and they offered great smoothies and bowls! I think during our trip we went to Sunrise Shack so much not only because of convenience but of how fresh and healthy everything was! We had their Açaí Bowl, Papaya Bowl, Blue Dream, Paradise Punch, and Monkey smoothie throughout our trip! We just kept coming back for more. This place is always busy with customers but they are always quick with orders and it doesn't take too long to wait. I really love the aesthetics of the Sunrise Shack, it is a great stop before going on about your day at the beach. read more
Love this spot. Anytime I'm visiting the island sunrise shack becomes my every day stop at least once, sometimes twice. I love their coffee, and I love that it is organic. I can trust their ingredients. I also love getting a papaya bowl with a blended base. So perfect and refreshing! I am a little bummed that the rice cakes came off with the menu because those were so good! My only piece of feedback would be to have a gluten-free option for the toasts. The rice cakes were great alternative for me, but I'm limited now in options since the toast is not gluten-free. I also love their stickers. I'm not a huge collector, but the sunrise shack stickers make me smile. I love the brightness they bring, and I even picked some up to gift coworkers who smiled and how "cute" and "fun" the stickers are. I see a ton of tourist at a bunch of the chain coffee spots and I highly recommend you skip all of those walk a little bit further and get to sunrise shack if you're in Waikiki. They also have a couple other locations on the island and when we're in the North Shore, this is my usual stop for a light meal. read more

Maybe I'm spoiled by the smoothie bowls back home but this wasn't worth my stomach space. The space is humid even though we're indoors and it's cool three steps outside of it. Staff was turned away sitting on the work counters and didn't notice other customers coming in. The POG bowl base was icy and watery so I just ate the toppings. read more

We visited this gorgeous little shack in North Shore! Beware of the hungry chickens. They are great entrainment but make sure you keep any eye on your food, they will take a bite! We stopped here for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and the food. I ordered a small tropical açaí bowl without coconut and it was perfect. The fruit is fresh and the bowl is naturally sweet. A small is actually a large proportion and it filled me up, no need to get anything bigger unless you're looking to share! My sister and mom ordered sandwiches which came with chips, both said they were great. My sister also ordered the blue smoothie and it was delicious. The prices are pricey, and it's a little off putting but for a one-time visit it's okay. The employees were so kind and so fun to talk to! We briefly bonded over sky-diving and got so into our conversation we almost forgot to finish our order. There is lots of seating and there are even board games such as a huge connect-4 play set, tic-tac-toe and I think jenga. They call your name at a window where you go to grab your food through clear doors. This helps keep the food safe from the very hungry and fearless chickens that hang around the area. There is parking available right next to the little shack along with a surf shop and other spots. At the register they have merchandise available for purchase such as stickers and shirts. The stickers are so cute and unique, I love them! As a sticker collector they perfectly capture Hawaii's vibe and they're a great alternative to the repetitive/tacky stickers at the ABC stores. read more

I absolutely loved the açaí bowls here!!! They offer a few different options ranging from fruity to dessert-like. All of them are beautifully prepared though and worth a shot for the 'gram. (Not to mention they're actually delicious, too!) I felt they were reasonably priced and decent portion sizes, and they also offered size upgrades in case you're sharing or extra hungry! The stores were also very clean and neat. They had some fun souvenirs for sale, too. Staff were always super friendly and served smiles for free! A good smoothie bowl for the morning breakfast. We got the tropical bowl and peanut butter bowl and both tasted good and refreshing. I realized the fruits go into the blend and came with toppings only. Would have preferred to have some fruit bites along with the toppings. Sunrise Shack is very popular in Waikiki as they have a few locations. As an Acai bowl lover, the few times I've tried this place... I feel like there are better elsewhere. The portions are quite small and the prices are pretty high (I mean considering they are beach front, I get it... but they lack in topping variety.) the dragonfruit syrup was so cool though! I think the branding and vibes are absolutely immaculate and so fun! I wish I loved the place, but I truly was disappointed as I think it is overhyped. read more

Got the açaí bowl and tropical bowl on separate days and the smoked salmon toast. Enjoyed the açaí bowl but just wish that it came with other fruit. It's only served with sliced banana and granola compared to other places that serve more fruits on top. But just a minor preference. The tropical bowl was a bit too icy and not blended well on the day we tried it but flavors were fine. Enjoyed the smoked salmon toast, it's nice and light. Overall a decent place to grab a bowls and a quick bite. Service is pretty quick. read more
The papaya bowl for $13 was decent. The presentation was vibrant and tropical, served right in half small papaya, which made for a great photo. The toppings like almond butter instead of peanut butter, (which I told the girl I didn't want...) coconut flakes, blueberries, and bananas added a nice texture. However, the portion was a bit smaller than expected for the price, and the flavors didn't quite wow me as much as I hoped. There wasn't any papaya either.... I would give them 0 stars if I could. Second time coming back and it was by far the worst experience. Long wait, disorganized, small portions, expensive, bad quality. I placed an order for pickup using their online system. The wait was originally 30 mins which was fine because I placed another order for pick up over at Island Vintage Coffee. I should've just ordered their açaí bowls from there. I went back to the sunrise shack during pick up time, only to find out they never accepted our order. So others ordering in-person later were receiving theirs before ours. If you're not going to look at online orders, don't turn it on. Not only did they not accept our order, our açaí bowls were so lacking. Did not look ANYTHING like the images online. I ordered the blue spirulina and my fiancé ordered the ube. They just threw the bowls together sloppily. Both ours should've came with strawberries, and they forgot it. Granola, blueberries and bananas were all sparse. My blue spirulina was GRAINY, it wasn't blended well or smooth. The texture was like oatmeal. I complained via email and not expecting anything in return but I'm honestly disappointed that I just hope others don't have the same experience and to say, there are MUCH better açaí bowls out there than Sunrise Shack. This was so disappointing and we spent $30. Go spend it elsewhere. read more

I missed Tucker and Bevvy by 5 minutes, so as I walked back towards the direction of my hotel, I happen to pass by The Sunrise Shack & peeked inside. I found their menu appealing and their entire establishment is upbeat, cheerful and so gave three items on their menu a go. I was feeling a bit under the weather and so I opted for the immunity shot. It's as I expected! I ordered the Monkey Bowl and I loved it! If you like peanut butter, this is a must try! Additionally, I ordered the vegan sandwich. I was looking for something light and heathy and decided to check this place out. This is a cute little shop that is located steps off of Waikiki Beach. It is located in the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort's shopping plaza over a garage underpass. It is a small shop that has very limited seating that includes a single table with chairs and bar seating overlooking the valet stand and street. They serve acai bowls, smoothies, coffee, salads, sandwiches and specialty toasts. They also have merchandise such as hats and shirts that are available for purchase. Everything sounded and looked delicious. I decided to go with the tropical bowl. It was prepared and in my hands in about 10 minutes. It definitely lived up to the hype and was delicious. It was made with fresh fruit and other ingredients and really hit the spot. It was also very filling. Even though my interaction with the staff was limited, they were seemed nice and friendly. I highly recommend dropping in and checking this spot out to get your smoothie, coffee or bowl fix. I will definitely be back when I return to Waikiki. read more

Yes! If you go up the ramp of the main entrance of the outrigger beach resort the Sunrise Shack will be the first shop on the left next to the escalator. Acai bowls will take 3-15 minutes depending on how busy it is.
