Tropical Tribe is a cute hidden gem with tasty eats! It is located on the bottom floor of a little shopping center. It can be a little tricky to find. It is an order and pick up at the counter eatery. My daughter (an açaí bowl junkie) had read the reviews and really wanted to try an açai bowl so we set out to find it. We visited on a Monday morning for breakfast. The decor is beachy and tropical . The vibe is casual and relaxed. It has a tiny indoor seating area and a few tables outside. We sat outside. We ordered a latte, an açai bowl, and a smoothie. I was bummed that my smoothie could not be customized. The base was premade so I was not able to make any adjustments to it. Our items were ready in a reasonable amount of time. The portion size was a little smaller than we expected. As for taste, the açai bowl was good. Hands down the best acai bowl I've ever had in my life. I got the Brazilian base acai with the premium topping (no extra charge) which includes fresh strawberries, banana, blueberries, granola, and honey. The acai is so thick and flavorful, the granola has the perfect crispy texture, and the HONEY - incredible; simply out of this world. This place has literally ruined all future acai bowls for me. I came twice. The first time I got the regular size (16 oz) and the ratio of acai to toppings/granola was perfect. I got the large (24 oz) during my second visit and felt the ratio was off with not enough toppings/granola for the amount of acai in the large. If you want a well balanced bowl I recommend going with the regular size. Not much seating available, more of a grab and go type of place. I love Tropical Tribe! This spot is located in the Discovery Bay shopping center on the corner of Ala Moana Boulevard and Hobron Lane. You can attempt to find street parking or park in the Discovery Bay parking structure ($1 for ~30 minutes or free validated parking with a $20 purchase at the store). The store itself is nestled on the bottom floor of the shopping center and is relatively small, but there are several tables outside the shop to sit at. It usually gets quite busy in the morning given tourist traffic, but the wait usually isn't too bad! The menu has a variety of options, from a build-your-own acai bowl to Brazilian cheese bread. My typical go-to is a regular-sized Brazilian bowl with the tropical toppings. The staff members at the shop are super friendly, and my bowl usually comes out in 10-15 minutes (given the wait, there's usually 5 or more people ahead of your order -- otherwise it's pretty quick when the shop isn't as busy). I always love the acai, which is delicious and smooth, and the fruits are fresh with super crispy/crunchy granola. I love how their acai base doesn't come premixed like other stores, since I'm allergic to bananas and other fruits. The customizability and freshness of the bowls are hard to beat! Amazing açaí bowls! Good for a healthy refreshing g breakfast on a humid morning. All the fruits are fresh. I prefer Hawaiian style. It's way more flavorful and less "boring" than Brazilian style (which is still incredible). Service can be slow so don't expect to get your order in 5 minutes. It's always just been the very sweet owner and cashier during our stay. But the wait is always worth it! I've always passed by this place and finally tried it out. I love acai bowls and this place certainly hit the spot. It's located at Discovery Bay Center on the bottom floor. The parking lot is on the back side of the building and Tropical Tribe does validate. I parked here for less than half an hour and it was free. I'm not sure how much it'll cost if you stay longer. The hubby purchased the regular sized carioca bowl $11.40 + $0.80 for the premium toppings. The ingredients in the carioca bowl are banana, milk powder, condensed milk, pacoca and granola. This bowl was just amazing and different. I eat a lot of acai bowls and it was the first time I saw this combo. I'm not surprised though. Condensed milk will make anything taste good, lol. Located in the basement of the discovery center, next to McDonald's. I'm not sure if you can park in their building since we walked from the Hilton lagoon. This small store offers açaí and smoothies. Their açaí comes in 3 sizes and a variety of toppings. We opted for two regular bowls and ordered from the friendly worker, got our order number, and found a seat just outside the shop. It took a while for the bowls, probably at least fifteen minutes. They had a steady stream of customers coming through. The açaí uses a soy milk base and has a deep purple color. It's blended so the consistency is more fluid than icy. I liked that it was not very sweet so it balanced the honey nicely. The fruit toppings were fresh although a little sparse, only four banana pieces. I did think the upgrade for the raw honey and bee pollen was worth it. Overall it was a good açaí bowl but the sizes are a little deceiving because it doesn't fill the container (making me wish I ordered a large). read more
