I haven't been able to experience The Cocktail Tour firsthand yet, but I can tell you that my wife and a bunch of friends & family had a fantastic time on their "girls outing" the day before I got married. Given the lineup of a Sazerac, Hurricane, St. Charles Hotel Punch, Praline liqueur, and bottled water I'm pretty confident you'd pay just a good amount anywhere in the French Quarter while not having nearly as much fun as The Cocktail Tour. Be aware that people with a low alcohol tolerance (such as my wife) will leave the tour not only happy because of all they have learned and enjoyed about the tour but also with a happy buzz to start their Friday evening (tours are Fridays at 6pm, or by appointment for larger groups such as my wife's crowd). Everyone in the group of varying ages and backgrounds really enjoyed the history (okay, everybody obviously was over 21) and they kept talking all night about how much fun it was. I, unfortunately, was stuck at home de-veining shrimp and making jambalaya for our open house that evening so I clearly got the bad end of the deal. Whenever we have people in town though - or even when we want to head into the Quarter on a Friday - I have no reservations about recommending The Cocktail Tour and I look forward to checking it out myself at some point. read more

A group of us did this tour in January 2015. It was definitely one of the highlights!! Elizabeth was so knowledgable about the city and the origins of her beverages. I thought at first we were going to be visiting different local bars - but no, she showed up with these cute little cooler bags that had 4 drinks in them. At every stop, she'd tell us which drink to pull out and she gave a thorough explanation of it's origin along with other historical facts. If you're looking to drink at bars on Bourbon...this is not the tour for you. We drank and walked around the city for two hours. I was looking for a low-key way to learn more about New Orleans during my first (and brief) visit. I really enjoyed Elizabeth, her presentation and the history she shared, and of course, the drinks! Recently spent a long weekend in New Orleans. This was one of the few planned activities we took part in. The tour was excellent (if rainy) and the drinks were fantastic. I can say that this tour is what you make it. Our tour was full and made up of a large group and then 3-4 smaller groups (2-3 people). We enjoyed the stories, the history and the surroundings. The larger group seemed to be "too cool for school" and their lack of enjoyment could have done us in. However, we persevered and had a great time.
