We are not normally "tour" people. We prefer to explore at our own pace, taking recommendations from friends and locals/bar tenders/drivers. Drink & Learn was the only tour recommended to us, and I am so glad we took that advice. Elizabeth is knowledgeable, funny, and clearly loves her work. This tour focuses on the unique history of New Orleans through the evolution of the alcoholic beverages it is famous for. And guess what? You get to sip those beverages as Elizabeth tells you about them. #interactive They are stored handily in plastic cups that you carry with you in an insulated satchel. Hells to the yes. My husband was slightly skeptical of the man bag, but it soon proved itself both handy and fashionable. Elizabeth mixes all the drinks herself, provides you with a koozie and straws, and even includes a recipe card to take home. I don't feel the need to regurgitate the facts I learned... Why read them here if you are going to take the tour? Just know that Elizabeth keeps you throughly entertained. There was one point where she jumped into a monologue of Judge Sweat's Whisky Speech that was amazing. It really added to the ambiance of my Sazerac. The only thing I would redo is take the tour a little later in the day. We did 1pm which was great because it was light out, but then we didn't keep the happy little buzz we got during the tour going, so we ended up going back to the hotel for a catnap later in the day. Elizabeth's tour was an incredible way to open up a weeklong adventure in New Orleans. She is very enthusiastic, personable, and knowledgable, taking a bunch of wahoos on a friday night on an enlightening stroll through the beautiful french quarter, artfully dodging bourbon street and instead showing us the nooks and crannies of its storied drinking culture, and rich history, of course, all the while explaining exactly how it came to be, and why. Cocktails are provided in color coded plastic cups in a handy cooler container to take along with you on your stroll, timed in accordance with whatever story you are hearing at the time. No rush though, enjoy. Elizabeth really knows how to make a drink, and they are delicious, every one, savor them, they'll probably be some of the finest cocktails you'll slurp in the Quarter, but she'll tell you where to get a good runner up. I did this tour while on a trip to New Orleans with my family in April. The tour was really fun and informative, and Elizabeth was a great tour guide. I highly recommend this if you like alcohol and fun New Orleans history. Of all the tours we did on our trip, this one was everyone's favorite. Some tips to prepare you for your tour: 1) Bring water. You get a tiny bottle of water in your little drinks bag, but if it's hot and you need hydration, it's not enough. 2) Eat a decent meal and don't drink any alcohol beforehand. 3) If you are lightweight (and especially if you haven't eaten a meal and/or you had a drink before the tour started), do not force yourself to finish all of the drinks on the tour (particularly the Sazerac). I made this mistake and was pretty much plastered by the end of the tour (much to the amusement of the rest of my family, all of whom have a much higher tolerance for alcohol than I do). read more

This was a wonderful experience. We toured the French Quarter and learned about the history of the city, its people, and each cocktail sampled along the way. At first I was worried about drinking too much in the 2 hour time frame but I felt like the set up was conducive to setting your own pace. We were equipped with bags with the cocktails and an ice pack inside. Everything stayed cool. The drinks had lids and could be resealed and put away for later if you wanted to switch to another drink. At the end, you could take the drinks with you if you didn't finish them.
