I don't know if Chuck was having a bad day but he was incredibly grouchy and unpleasant to work with. For whatever reason, my oil change took almost 6 hours. I dropped my car off at 10am for a 10:30am appointment and picked it up around 3:30pm. Chuck told me it would be ready by 2:30pm and that he would call me when it is ready. He also charged me for the services at drop off and pick up and when I told him at pick up that he charged me already, he was condescending and mansplained "No. For car services you always pay after, just like dinner." (Side note to management to check your cameras because I paid twice. Once at 10:11am and another time around 3:23pm. I reluctantly paid because I planned on fighting it with my credit card company later.) After I paid, Chuck walked me out to my car where a tech had pulled it up and as I'm getting in my car, I see Chuck walking back to his desk while shaking his head. They also don't vacuum the interior of your vehicle so that added to the terrible oil change appointment from hell. This was hands down the strangest and worst oil change I have ever had in my life.

That included a $1,143 water pump and thermostat replacement (replaced nine months earlier, and I still have the records). They also quoted a $4,000+ axle and control arm job, with the photos not supporting a need. Lastly they recommended a full transmission fluid exchange, a good catch since no service history existed, but exchanging fluid on a transmission that's never been serviced isn't really the safer choice, and a plainer drain-and-fill wasn't mentioned as a less expensive, arguably better option.

Nitesh and the rest of the staff are very friendly and they take care of you whether you wait in the shop or need to drop off for the day. When I called on 2/4 to confirm, they rescheduled me to 2/11. Strange, but I went along with it. The Service: When I arrived on 2/11, I explained that my struts were recently replaced but the car had been making a rattling noise. They quoted $90 for a diagnostic inspection. Within 10 minutes, they called me over to show me a loose bolt (pictured). The mechanic tightened it in about 5 minutes. Then they charged me $200--apparently $90 for the diagnostic plus $110 to tighten a single bolt. Upsell Attempt: They also recommended replacing my struts for $1,500 ($1,300 with their "discount"). This doesn't make sense since I just had them replaced, which is why I brought the car in for the rattling in the first place. Bottom Line: $200 to tighten one bolt in 5 minutes feels excessive. I'll be getting a second opinion on the strut recommendation. I'm disappointed because I specifically chose this shop based on positive reviews, but my experience didn't match the reputation. The message said " vehicle dynamic system need to be checked." My gas mileage also went from 25 mpg to 18 mpg. I took the 2016 Forrester in and Chris hooked up a diagnostic tool and said let's check the fuel regulator. He cleaned it and it worked. It took him less than 10 minutes and did not even charge me. Maybe the half dozen Stan's donuts was enough!
