This place is not only very expensive but also lacks the skills to perform a job satisfactorily. In addition to putting a customer's life in jeopardy, they think THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW! If you want to pay more and risk you life, go there. They are sneaky enough to realize labor per hour is something easy for customers to compare against their peers. Thus, they charge you comparable rate for labor. However, they severely gouge you on parts! You don't have to take my words for it. Get a quote and call the dealer to find out how obscenely they mark up on parts. Cost aside if they perform a good job, you could argue it is money well spent. Unfortunately, they fail there too. I hired them to service the timing system of my '98 Subaru Impreza. After an obscene $1500 repair, the timing system failed within only 13K miles! This is a job that only has to be repeated every 60K miles per Subaru's recommendation. If you ever experience a timing system failure, it is probably one of the most terrifying experience a driver can possibly face. The engine shuts off *IMMEDIATELY* without any warning. I could have been killed that day! Since it failed so prematurely, I contacted Bureau of Automotive Repair to investigate. BAR concluded Motorpool was indeed negligent in their installation. Unfortunately, Motorpool was so belligerent that they challenged me to sue them than settling it out of court. I did as they asked for and won the case. It has been more than a month since the court ruled against Motorpool and awarded me a judgement. Let's see how long it will take Motorpool to pay up. So.. I have had my 2001.5 Audi S4 for 6 years and always listened to the advise of other owners saying, "take it to a certified Audi mechanic". I always have, and things were always repaired, but I found myself always leaving the mechanic after $1500+ went missing from my pocket. (Highway robbery). And more recently I found that these "issues" were coming up more frequently. I was sick and tired of taking it to M&M autowerks, among other places, because of the shitty service, and constant issues after the service. I talked to friends and looked around. After speaking to Steve and the guys at Motorpool (although they are not "certified Audi mechanics"), I felt confident he would do his best in diagnosing the problems, and he offered to do some basic work (oil change, brakes, tires) while providing a free complete diagnostics by taking a look and offering advice on any other engine issues. After replacing both downpipes (the catalytic converters were shot), doing an oil change, a radiator flush, a transmission fluid flush, replacing the brakes, tires, and ICM (ignition control module), the car is running better than it has in 2+ years and the cost was less than that of other places for less work. They may not be certified, but they know how to trouble shoot a car issue and fix it while being up front and honest with you about the problems and cost associated. He was even willing to show me "their cost" of parts, and gave me a slight break on labor due to the magnitude of work being done. All in all, great place, great people, great work.... This morning, like 6:50 am, I was entering 85S off of Hamilton when I hit a curb and popped my tire. It was such a scary experience becuase if you've ever heard a ripped tire going at 65mph like... it sounds like ur re-entering the atmosphere in a space shuttle..... it was very scary to say the least. Anywho, i took the next exit and drove around some backstreets to find a peaceful area to check it out. Low and behold, I parked right in front of these guys as they were opening shop! Now look, everyone knows i dont believe in God, but had I not parked in front of this shop I would have been stranded in the depths of willow glen.......like, no thank you....... Anyway, so I get out of my car and i'm with this dude I barely know, like i just met him last night (yikes) and we're like fumbling with this spare tire. We literally forgot that u needed a jack to lift the car up to take the tire out, and i swear I would've killed my back forever (im 19) had a lovely gentleman named Joe not come out and help us. Joe, an employee of this business, came to help us without even mentioning payment or anything....he literally brought out all the tools and stuff and like did it! I even OFFERED to buy him a starbucks or Dennys (something u NEVER catch me doing) and he said it was fine. It just amazes me, the customer service im-. So yea, i just wanted to share that experience with y'all. Thank you Joe! Ok, so I know the owner Steve because he likes loud music and hangs out at my work occasionally. He came in about a month ago and gave me a Tshirt and a cool trucker hat. So, when the car I had owned for 10 FREAKIN DAYS started pouring white smoke out from under the hood, I had it towed to the Motorpool because it was fresh in my mind, you feel me? So I have it towed there, on a Sunday, I'm stressing because I have my one and a half year old with me. I figure I will just leave it out front and drop the key. So who shows up right when I do with my car? Steve and Ryan, one of his mechanics! Like weirdest coolest timing ever! They put my car in the back, did a prelim checkout, unlocked their business so my daughter and I wouldn't have to wait out in the street for our ride, gave us water, juice, and a Motorpool onesie for my daughter, and then Ryan waited with us until our ride came. This all happened on these guys' DAY OFF. They had my car for three days. Motorpool contacted me frequently with updates on the problems, which turned out to be radiator related. When the car was fixed, Ryan came and picked me up in my car to test drive it and give me a ride back to the shop. They gave me a great price, and my car is running great. And I got a big hug from Steve! These guys are awesome I highly recommend them for service, efficiency, and being a bunch of darn nice guys! read more

I use my car for my job, driving around all day so when my engine light came on right before things were about to get busy for me, I was in a bit of a panic. I've taken my car to the dealer numerous times (its a Prius and I thought I should use the dealer) and had a terrible experience and paid through the nose. I can't tell you what a much better experience it is working with Steven and his team. They diagnosed my car immediately, gave me an extremely reasonable quote (WAY less than I've paid for even a check up at the dealer) and then told me that it was probably still under warranty so I should probably try that option first. Clearly, these guys care about their customers and aren't just out to make a buck. After checking with the dealer (and even with a brief interaction, feeling extremely annoyed), I drove my car right back to Mtorpool Automotive and asked them to do the work. I am thrilled at how quickly they were able to help me and how nice they were. They even washed my car (and trust me, it needed it). And, the price was unbeatable. Never will I step back into Toyota dealership. These guys are honest and reliable and make having to deal with an unfortunate car problem so much easier. read more

Found the shop to be as others said - trustworthy, friendly, communicative, easy going and competent. I brought my older 1972 Ford Pick up truck to the shop after seeking a place to handle the issue of a gas tank leak and possibly other unknown problems. People I knew casually suggested the firm --- easily a place not seen or known. I did some check outs, including reviews on Yelp, then contacted the shop to explain the situation. Some places I have worked with typically were not open to the work or unresponsive. Motorpool Automotive was able to speak with me, and arrange for me to have the truck assessed when I was ready. After the assessment, got a good estimate of the needed work and pricing and felt comfortable asking that the work be done. This was not a super simple case, so the obvious was handled and some extra research and checking was done. As more information was given, I had some new belts replaced and expect to return to have the Auxilary gas tank, badly rusted by not damaged yet, replaced. No doubt there are a number of fine auto shops around, but knowing one which can do the work and be trusted isn't easy. Worth your consideration when automotive concerns arise. read more

Brought in my 2005 Audi A4 for 115k mile maintenance and to get brakes replaced. I had originally intended to go to the dealership but was afraid of the price, and other reviews led me to Motorpool. If this is as far as you read, these guys were absolutely amazing and provided a great customer experience. Five stars is an understatement. I walked in with a heavy dose of skepticism and feared the reviews here were misleading but I couldn't have been more wrong. Steve & team called me and told me in terms I could understand what they planned on doing and why. I was of course focused on the all-in cost and timing of the repairs which they also provided promptly. Repairs/maintenance were done quickly and the quote they provided was what they charged. Since I was a first time customer, they offered a discount as well. They almost made me feel bad and I had the surreal experience of asking a person to accept my payment. The service was so good I was compelled to get a Yelp account to thank them. Never before have I dealt with a shop that really radiates trustworthiness and honesty. I was amazed. I would highly recommend and I intend to come back for other maintenance down the line. read more

On my way to Santa Cruz for a family vacation my car began to overheat on the freeway. Lucky enough for us we were able to get off and find a shady place to park as it was 95 degrees outside. Not from around here I called the closest place I could find (Motorpool) explained my situation and Stephen sent one of his technicians to help us, thanks Chris. Once we got back to the shop they were very quick to figure out the problem and let me know they needed to order the part and the car wouldn't be done till Monday and this was Sat afternoon btw. While we waited the wife and I plus 2 kids relaxed in their very comfortable waiting room with complimentary drinks and snacks and watched a little TV, very nice touch. All and all I know what it's like being in this line of work and the way I was treated was 1st class, yes the car got fixed right the 1st time and quickly on top of that but the customer service is what I'll remember most. I had just brought a car that has been sitting for a year. Since i started driving it, it started making sounds that i was worried about. Needless to say the Customer service and Service was Phenomenal!! I was expecting for them to tell me i needed to dump an extreme amount of money into it, but that wasn't the case. I was told about a few major repairs that i could wait on, i was shocked, "wait on", No shop has ever told me that. Being a girl especially, they genuinely cared and were Honest with me. They didn't try and scam me out of a lot of money what so ever. They even told me where ever i got my oil/ fluids checked, i should go back and tell them they over filled the oil and transmission fluid, also that my coolant and winshield fluid were not topped off. Needless to say i would recommend this place to everyone and anyone whether i knew you or not! These guys have a reputation for being honest with their work and not heckling you for things you don't need. I've been coming here for years and this review is long overdue. Steve is super sweet and always on top of what work needs to be done, I seriously wouldn't trust my car anywhere else. I started coming here because my check engine light had come on in my 95 Mercedes, his guys did a full inspection and, of course came back with a ton of work that needed to be done.. This is the important part: out of all the shops I've been to no one made a list of priorities for me. I knew my car needed a lot of work, that was a given... Steve helped me figure out what was most important and take care of that first, for sake of money and time. I had a splash shield replaced on the bottom of the car and a transmission service, and the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. I came here looking for a shop I could trust, and still afford. I have had past experience with both bad shops and 'friends' that worked on cars. I have had work I did not approve done, mechanics saying to replace things I just replaced, and since I don't have much car knowledge, have also been treated like I am dumb. When spending the money we do on our cars we want the best price, customer service, along with truthful easy to understand explanations. I feel at home and respected here at Motorpool. They offered me a bike the first oil change. Then another time when I had a check engine light that was going to take awhile, they offered me a loaner car! A loaner car! So I got fed, had a cup of coffee, checked out hot sauces, and got a loaner car. Needless to say I am now a customer for life! Awesome! read more
