It's hard to find a business these days that actually cares about its customers, but Stress-Free Auto Care does. Somewhere along the way (covid), customer service seems to have taken a hit, you're often lucky to get what you paid for, quality can be hit-or-miss, and somehow every cash register wants a tip before you've even left the counter. I do most of my own vehicle maintenance, but A/C work is one area I leave to the professionals, only after I have messed it up on my own. After calling around Campbell, I was quoted anywhere from $100 to $210 more than what I ended up paying at Stress-Free Auto Care. The shop is clean, the staff is professional, courteous, and well-presented, and they got my truck finished quickly. What really stood out was the inspection report. They checked all the major components on my truck and included photos of everything. As someone who likes to work on my own vehicles, I appreciated being able to see exactly what they were looking at instead of just taking their word for it. This place had a different name before the pandemic (maybe longer ago). I went there one time when it had that name that included the word "Toyota" in it. I brought my car there for some kind of service, I don't remember what. I didn't go back there because of the prices. Years later, I found a mechanic that I like, but that mechanic is 7 miles from me, so I had been going to different places for oil changes and going to the mechanic for repairs. Long story short, my oil change light came on and I wasn't able to go to my regular oil change place due to an unscheduled closure. I pulled over and looked at reviews. This shop's sister shop had a five-star review and was pretty close to where I was. They had no available appointments, but the manager directed me to this one, which I was able to get an appointment the next day. The clerk told me the oil change also included an inspection. About an hour later, I get a text wanting approval for another $2,200. I knew that my mechanic would charge just over half for the brakes alone, so I declined the other services. That's where it got crazy. I pick my car, and the check engine light and two other lights were on. They hadn't been on when I dropped off the car. When I called it in, the mechanic (or clerk, I'm not sure which) kept repeating "You declined additional services." Now, I'm old enough and competent enough to have changed my oil and even replaced the spark plugs and cables on cars back in the day, so I knew there was absolutely no reason at all that an oil change would cause the check engine light to go on. Essentially, they introduced a problem that didn't exist when I brought it in. So, I called my mechanic and asked whether there might be a reason for the light to have been triggered. He said that it could be triggered if the hoses are not reconnected when they inspect the air filters. That, in fact, was the problem. This leaves me with two possible outcomes, neither of which is good: either they deliberately left the hoses disconnected so that I'd panic and buy the other services or they were careless. I made an appointment with my mechanic, who looked over Stress Free's estimate and then inspected my car. His initial comment was "These guys are expensive as hell," and pointed out one place where Stress Free was going to charge me for labour for a service that would have been part of another of the services. Long story short, I'm having the repair done by my mechanic for less than $1,000. read more

When came to pick up the car, Tyler, one of the managers, helped with the quote for future repairs and the report itself (which was sent via a text so the photos could easily be reviewed) was very in depth and showed everything line by line. I just told them that my car was making weird noises and they said they'd check it out. They text me the inspection, all of the updates, and would wait for my approval texts. First time we were told the intermittent minor whistle from under the hood was not a problem. No charge! The second service, an oil change done at a fair price. The third service was a wheel alignment and rear brake rotor/pad replacement done for a pretty penny. Having no other bid I believe the Subaru Dealer would have charged even more. This place is a class act. They are polite and professional, and even offer access to a web site showing the car being serviced in real time! The phone charger cables in the waiting area are a good example Although probably not cheapest option I think we got more than we spent. I made an appointment for my car and when I got there a man at a desk told me that he only had one technician and that I had to reschedule. I was really shocked to hear that, and to me I felt if he had called me, I wouldn't have driven there. No apologies or anything. He just basically told me he only had one technician for the day and my service would take pretty much all day and he's already working on a project and it just seemed like a waste of my time. Truly not motivated to go back there again nor suggest to any of my friends or family to go this business. I guess it was the wrong day and the wrong time for me to get my car looked at. I have been to this company three times now. The attendant/manager has always been a very helpful and very courteous. No complaint there. What I don't like is there outrageous prices on everything and the complete marketing strategy to push sales and services at every opportunity? I would like to come to a business, and not get bombarded with what little things and extra things my vehicle needs Secondly, the fact that they push their advertising marketing onto all patrons is a huge negative The first time I was there, after receiving my car back, I noticed that my dealership license plate rim had been taken off, and replaced by a Stress-Free Auto Care one, without my permission. I was never asked or advised. When I noticed, I immediately made them aware and asked if they return and put back my original license plate frame. They were unable to do so as they had thrown it away, and it was not to be found. I asked them to remove theirs, and they did. The manager was very apologetic. I was not happy. Upon my second time of returning here, they once again put a license plate frame on my car. I didn't notice it until I got home. I am not interested in advertising for Stress-Free Auto. I lodged my concerns and the manager was very courteous and understood. Today, I once again asked that they remove the license plate frame from my car for the third time and not to replace it. Apparently, the computer automatically tells the technician to add the frame. I would appreciate that does not happen again. My service today was fine but again I was bombarded with replacement of filters, my battery and they cannot fix my tire which it picked up a nail. This is the last time that I will be at Stress-Free Auto Care. I went down the street to American tires and they fixed my tire for the lovely price of $0. This predatory shop lied and tried to scam me out of $2K. I am a young woman who admittedly knows little about cars. I realized the rear right door of my car had a leak as it became filled with water over the rainstorms. Before I took it in, I knew my right rear automatic window still worked. I did not tell the shop this. When I heard back from the shop, they said the leak was due to a damaged door gasket. They also found other issues I had not expected, such as needing new filters for the engine and cabin, brake fluid flushed, and transmission fluid flushed. I decided to have these issues addressed for the sake of the lifespan of my car. They told me that all electrical components in that door were fried, including the automatic window (which I knew had worked, but assumed they had found damage), the automatic door lock, and the speaker in the door. I told the shop to not repair these items, as they are not necessary for the functioning of the car, and I did not have an extra $2K lying around on top of the costs for the repairs I did approve. Fast forward to after I had picked up the car and I began to wonder if they had been honest. I tried the window button, and it worked fine. Once I got home, I left the car on and checked the speaker in the door, and surprise, it still played music. I turned the car off and checked the locks, and it still locked & unlocked with my key fob. I messaged the shop that all of these components still worked and they had lied to me. They claimed that they had all parts of the door under a heat lamp, that it was a "hail Mary," but they were so glad it had worked! If it was really such a miracle that the heat lamp worked, what are the odds it would work for ALL of electrical components in the door? And why would they not bother to check if it worked after they put the door back together? When I had picked up my car, there was a thank you note inside, both asking for reviews and inviting clients to email Stress Free's founders "If your service wasn't especially Stress-Free" So I emailed them that night. Days passed and my email went unanswered, so I guess they don't care about customer satisfaction (or the content of my review) since they already got my money. read more

Jim was extremely thorough, open, and honest about his initial investigations and my options and possible solutions. The SFAC crew was extremely helpful and knowledgeable all throughout the rest of the inspection, diagnostics, and repair process. Tried this place for the first time based on their strong Yelp reviews. I came in around 12:30 PM for a simple nail puncture repair and also asked them to check and add air to the other tires, since they were all low. I didn't leave until close to 3 PM, which already felt excessive for the work requested. To make matters worse, the repaired tire was overfilled, while the other tires were never touched despite their report stating that all tires were serviced. I scheduled an appointment for 1pm and was given a clear price quote over the phone. When I arrived, I was told the quote was incorrect and that the actual cost was $200 more. On top of that, they informed me they would no longer honor my 1pm appointment and moved it to 4pm. I had rearranged my entire workday for this appointment, so this was extremely frustrating. A few months ago, I took my car to Stress-Free Auto Care, they quoted me for $4000+ for fixing a component. I took the car to a second place, and they told me this fix was completely unnecessary. I ended up not fixing it, and my car has been running fine. Don't take your car to this place. They are either incompetent or untrustworthy.
