I had the torque converter fail in my 2018 Chev. Silverado still under warranty and no Chev. dealership within 25 miles would look at it before two weeks. In desperation, I went to Driver's Edge Mansfield and discussed with the Store Mgr. Greg. Very friendly and appeared to be professional. We both agreed the torque converter most likely failed because of lack of oil circulating in the transmission. He stated a best case scenario would be a $3,900. if the transmission needed to be rebuilt, but possibly $6,900. if it had to be replaced with a new one from G.M. He thought it could be repaired within 1 week. Two days later I called to ask what they had found out and they had not had a chance to remove the transmission yet. I called one week later and they were "working on it". Long story made short, Greg did drive the pickup back to my house with a "rebuilt" transmission in it within two weeks. (I was out of town so he ran my credit card and left the invoice in the pickup.) He charged my credit card just over $8,000. When I called and confronted him, he was happy to reduce the price to 6,900. + tax. When asked why rebuild the transmission rather than replace it, he said G.M. was 2-3 months backlogged for this type (8 speed) transmission. I then did a little homework through a G.M. dealership and found that GM has a warehouse in Ennis Tx (40 minutes away) that had 16 of those transmissions in stock!? A brand new crated transmission from G.M. would cost $3,300. and they allow their dealers $1,100. to remove and replace it. But I got to pay $6,900. + tax for a rebuilt one? G.M. is reimbursing me $4,403. (which is what a dealership would have charged for a new replacement along with a 100,000 mile warranty. Oh, Driver's Edge gives a 12 month/12,000 warranty on the rebuild. As I said , very friendly person, but I HATE being lied to! read more

Late post but STAY AWAY from this place, they run the classic scam! A few months ago my car was idling low and my check engine light came on, so I took it to them, they call me and after a bunch of technical lingo he tells me bottom line, to fix my car they will have to go into the engine and also replace my radiator (even though it wasn't running hot and had no signs of a leak), the guy tells me it will cost $3000 - $5000 to fix my car. I say no thank you because I always get a second opinion when I am not familiar with a shop. I finally found a highly recommended shop and it turns out all I needed was a new battery! on April 8th 2021 I took my truck to this Mansfield location for AC servicing The vehicle was blowing only hot air from all vents. per the summary of charges a basic electric al computer diagnostic test, a system test, along with a visual inspection of the A/C unit was performed. repairs on my AC unit were performed, and I was charged $727. approximately 5 weeks later the driver's side stopped blowing cold air. I mean the ticket back to them if they perform the first repair and I was told its a different issue and it would cost an additional $500 to repair. flabbergasted, I told them to pull my truck down and I will pick it up. I'm not understanding why this issue wasn't discovered the first time if all the said services were performed. only weeks later I have a different issue! I was told the issue over the phone, but still not understanding. I'm no mechanic. when I arrived, I wasn't given a printout of the repairs needed nor did any technician take the time out to discuss with me face to face. I wasn't charged, when I asked the cost, just given my keys and told I can walk around the side and pick up my vehicle which is totally different from the service I received when I paid 700 for initial repairs. On top of this, today July 23nd, 3 months later, The passenger side has stopped blowing cold air. This is what I'm dealing with in the middle of summer in Texas. also contacted the main customer service email for driver's edge corporate, on June 8th, and have yet to receive a responseI. I came in and was greeted by an older gentleman, who I discovered was one of the mechanics in the back. When I told him the service I was needing (state inspection and tire rotation), his first words were "Oh man, those are big tires). I drive a Jeep Wrangler with 35 inch tires - which I wouldn't consider that much bigger than most standard truck tires. It was clear from that moment I was a burden to this man in particular. A few minutes later, a man - who I assumed to be the manager - came into the waiting area and said "you know it's gonna be 50 bucks to rotate those big tires". I said "that's fine". Neither one of these men made me feel like they wanted to do the job I was there for and I will never go back to this location for a tire rotation. I will gladly take my money and time to Discount Tire where I know they are capable and willing to do something as simple as rotate 35 inch tires. What's even more frustrating is that I had come in a few days earlier and was greeted by the manager in the parking lot. When I told him I needed the state inspection and tire rotation, he very politely told me - "we'll be happy to rotate your tires today but we can't do the inspection because we're out of stickers." He gave me the choice to come back when they had more stickers and do both at the same time or do the tires that day and the inspection another time. I'm curious as to why he didn't say anything at that point about the up charge for my "big tires"? I ended up feeling like they charged more for the tire rotation to try and dissuade me from doing it? Overall, a very bad experience that left me not interested in coming back for an oil change, inspection, tire rotation or any other service they offer. I've been loyal to this shop in particular since they opened. It's a shame because they're in a great location right off the highway and the only service station on this side of town adjacent to several huge neighborhoods. Customer service should be a priority these days with social media and unfortunately is was far from pleasant during my visit. read more

I went in to get my headlight (low beam) replaced on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. They charged me $207.15 saying they had to pull my bumper out to change the light so I said change both so I am not charged to pull it again. Come to find out it's a screw (7mm) on top and a plastic piece that pulls out takes 2 mins and pull the light and replace not hard to get back in as a female it took me 7 mins. Poor fella @ Drivers Edge took him an hour bless his heart. I go in ask for the manager ( he was there and looking at my car that day it as serviced) so I tell him they over charged me and I want my money back. He said they have to follow the instructions the car manufactures gives and they have a set time guide that everyone ( mechanics everywhere use) uses which for 2 headlights was 1.5 hrs (2 bulbs not 6). Won't let me see the computer screen and looks at my car outside gave me a song and dance abt how his guy had to go thru the tire and bumper to change it took all his time and hard work. (By the way you can NOT get to anything from bumper or tire.) I guess he should have looked at pg 345 of the owners manual that shows how you change it and it's online (searchable) page 346. There 100s of YouTube videos showing how to change per manufacturers recommendations. Gave him a chance to be a honorable man but he failed miserably. I took my car here to get a basic oil change. I asked when I called if they would check the fluids. I was told yes but they do not top off for free. As it turns out they did not even check the fluids. Just a day later my light came on saying the coolant was low. Plus for some reason I was charged more than he told me on the phone. read more
