Went to Jerry's as it was the closest auto repair near my home. All I needed was a simple 10mm bolt installed through a bracket to hold my speedometer cable in place on the transmission. I could almost get it done, on the ground under the car, but didn't have enough room. So all I needed was the car put on a lift, and using a 1/4" ratchet and a 10 mm socket with a 12" extension, put the bolt in the hole and tighten it up. Jerry's refused to do it because they "don't work on old cars" like mine. Regardless of the age of the vehicle, it was a SIMPLE request that a 10 year old could have done - if he had a lift! I took it to another shop, in Mansfield, and they had it completed in less than 10 minutes - and that includes driving the car onto the lift, installing the bolt, and backing the car down. NOT brains surgery. If they can't do a simple job like this, why would I EVER trust them to do anything that IS complicated? ONE star - do NOT recommend! UPDATE: Just found out from a friend that they replaced the heater core on his 1973 pickup, but could not put a simple bolt to hold my speedometer cable to my transmission in my 1980 Triumph! read more

I spoke with Jerry myself, to get more info on the repairs. He was more than happy to explain and he also sent me an estimate of all of the work and prices. All of the work was done in a timely manner as well as, superb customer service. I couldn't give them minus 5 stars, so they get one. Had my brother in law take his 2015 Chrysler 200 to Jerry's after the engine light came on and give the code for number 3 cylinder spark plug, coil or fuel injector fault. They quoted him $3,400 for all new fuel injectors, spark plugs and coils. Or, $2,800 to just replace the number 3 cylinder spark plug, coil and fuel injector. After asking them three times what their hourly shop rate was, Julian, supposed manager, finally told me $115 an hour. Actually reasonable for today's market. When I confronted Julian about the ridiculous up charge on parts and told him what I knew they actually cost retail. He said I was quoting 1980's prices. That he couldn't get parts at that price. I said but you're a business, you should be getting wholesale pricing. Julian said nobody does anymore. Then I showed him what anybody could purchase them for from RockAuto, $588. Then he started nitpicking because my brother in law got different parts costing $317. You didn't get Bosch fuel injectors and coils. I said yes. All Bosch parts would have been $588, $270 more which I tried to convince my brother in law to go with. He's on a budget. I still said at $588 cost for all Bosch parts, that's a 460+% markup on the parts, best in the industry. He didn't care that I had called him out. Just one BS lie after another. Then he told me, why don't you just fix it? You seem to know a lot. Ok, I will. Wrong thing to say to a Marine veteran. As I was walking out, Julian's geriatric mechanic yells, go fix it and bring it back! I turned around and replied, why would I fix it and bring it back? He said, because you can't! What arrogance! So much for honesty and professionalism. They charged my brother in law $450 for a diagnostic fee. Which was no different from what Autozone did for free. So, 1.8 hours labor for removing the intake manifold to check the fuel injector Julian said. He even stated that he discounted the labor. Another blatant lie. My brother in laws parts came in the next day from RockAuto. I did the job plus, replaced the oil filter/oil cooler assembly with a metal one, as the Chrysler installed plastic one from the factory always goes bad. You know what was the most criminal thing.? Julian's quote for $2,800 to just replacing a spark plug, fuel injector and coil. RockAuto's price for the 3 Bosch parts, $98. That's a parts markup of, you ready for this, 2,153%. Parts markup!!! That should be considered a crime against humanity. FYI, when I repaired my brother in law's car? I took photographs. Not a single smudge or clean spot on the engine or engine bay. I guess Julian's geriatric mechanic has developed telekinetic powers over the years and can do all his work with his mind. That's actually something worth seeing. Steer clear of this place. I thought dealerships were outrageous but when Vandergriff Chevrolet replaced my belt tensioner on my C7 corvette. Their parts markup was only 50%. 50% verses Jerry's General Automotive's 480~2,000+% markup's. Lord help any poor soul disparate enough to go to Jerry's Side note, I can't confirm that Julian was the manager's actual name. It was embroidered on his shirt and he stated that it was. Though after the lies, arrogance and general disregard for professionalism with the way he treats his potential customers. Who knows what his name actually is? I suspect he changes name on a weekly basis. P.S my sister has the same car with close to the same mileage 93,000. Her engine light went off 4 days later. Ironic huh. Same code. I fixed hers too. They both say their cars are running better than when they bought them, though I suspect they might be a little prejudicial. read more

Good, honest mechanics are not easy to find. I have one guy I use in Irving but had not found one locally. I think this may be the one. Pricing is better than competitive and they were able to resolve the mystery noise my car was making. Have been coming to Jerry's Automotive for years. Have had different problems with my Acura. Always get excellent friendly service. They are always accurate with the problem my car has and they get it fixed in a very timely manner. Will continue to take my car to their shop. I trust what they tell me is wrong with my car the times I have taken it to them. Used to go to another place to get my oil changes for years but decided to just let their mechanics service my car 100%. Have recommended this place to family members and friends. read more

Quick, cheap, and does the job.

I had my sons truck diagnosed and they told me it was a rear main seal and a air conditioner compressor they told me it would be $1,600 to fix. I told them to go ahead and fix it come to find out it was not the air compressor it was something else and they wanted he charged me another thousand dollars. They are the one who diagnosed the problem in the first place it was not my son or me. But they would not fix it. I think it is a bunch of bull. They say they guarantee their work. But they didn't in this case. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone again. read more

I took in my Kia for a noise, unknown to me, coming from the CV axle. They charged me 3 times the cost of the part (I found out after checking with another mechanic) and made me pay for the part up front. After getting a 2nd mechanic to look at my car and quoting me $175 parts and labor, Jerry's said they would not take their $165(another $250 for labor) part back. I swallowed my pride and took their axle, which I assumed must be made of gold, to the 2nd shop to have them install for me. It would have been worth eating the $165 to save a little in labor. The axle in, and a call from the mechanic that this did not fix the noise. Turns out the part they sold me was refurbished and no better than the original taken out of my car. After some irate phone calls to Jerry's they grudgingly said they would accept the part back for a refund. At the time of this review I have returned the part but was told I would not be refunded until they shipped it back to the supply store and will have to wait 2 days to get my money. I made them put that in writing. We'll see what happens here now, but at least I ultimately found an honest mechanic. That may be worth the hassle this has been. Update: 1 Week later my money is refunded in full. I will add one more star for that and the fact they were pleasant enough about it, better late then never I guess. read more

Needed a timing belt on my wife's SUV. Checked out my morning commute up Cooper and found quite a few options. Several didn't want to quote over the phone. But Jerry's provided a quick quote, made sure they had my info so they could call it up later, and were willing to take my SUV in on a day's notice. Done in about six hours and not a penny over the quote. We have been driving it for a few weeks now and all seems to check out, so I will definitely consider using this place again. read more

My husband and I recently moved to Arlington Texas and had to get our SUV smogged so we could register the car in Texas. We met Julian the GM, who was pleasant and knowledgeable. The shop and waiting area were very clean and we were done in 30 minutes. Julian also tipped us on not having to drive all the way into Fort Worth for the registration and guided us to the local tax assessors office in Arlington to finish the registration. This review is for Jerry's General Automotive - NOT the car wash (like a lot of the reviews here seem to be). Been coming to Jerry's for several years and have received nothing but prompt, efficient and fairly priced service. I've had work done from oil changes on my newer cars to an engine replacement on an older car with +300,000 miles. Work has been solid and I've not had to return my car once because something wasn't done right. My dad owned a garage when I was growing up so I know a bit about what needs to be done on my cars - Jerry's has never tried to sell me stuff I didn't actually need (unlike a couple national brands I could name). read more

Bought a used 2007 Escalade. Took it here based on a friends recommendation. It had a bad airbag sensor and with the mileage it had I wanted a tune up as well. They missed the fact that the car had a broken motor mount. What disappointed me was the mechanic even made a comment that I had one of the few Escalades without a broken motor mount! Took it to the dealer the following week and had that repaired. Now I have to wonder if they even did the tune up? read more

Stay AWAY from this auto repair shop!!! I took my vehicle to have service on 3 separate occasions. Ended up having to return to have something fixed that they told me was fixed before I left the shop. Then ended up at the dealership having them fix all the screw ups this place did to my vehicle.
