Just want to say it's all my fault for buying from DriveTime. Just wanted to give an update because a lot of people ask me why I still have this truck. It's been 3 years of on time payments. I bought the truck for $27k, made 36 straight payments on time which adds up to around $27k paid already... and I still owe almost $20k. Meanwhile the truck is falling apart. I looked into refinancing for a lower interest payment, but unfortunately most car loans are front loaded with interest in the first couple years, so refinancing now just restarts the front loaded interest payments. I am finally seeing the principal get paid. Basically I'm stuck unless I dump $10k to get away from this truck and loan. Truck was recently estimated around $10k trade in value, so to get into something else I'd need to come up with around $10k just to get out of being upside down. I understand bad credit loans are expensive no matter where you go. My son died, I completely fell apart mentally for a while, missed payments on my previous vehicle and it got repo'd. Once I finally started functioning again I needed a truck for work and DriveTime got me. Wouldn't even be as bad if the truck was actually in decent shape. I take really good care of my vehicles. This was just one of those "gotcha" situations and I wanted to share it so maybe somebody else doesn't end up in the same spot. Don't get got like me. read more

So I bought a car from here and like 2 days later check engine light comes on. So I call they say to call silver rock which is the car insurance they give you so they send me to tire shops where they do little tune ups not a real mechanic shop smh ok so the car needed spark plugs and coils the insurance only said spark plugs ok. 2 weeks later lights come on again car is shaking gonna have to go back to that little shop. Also one passenger door won't open from inside smh car starts ruff on cold start. Also the breaks they put are new but cheap so they make sound when I brake andddd I had to take it to my mechanic so they could file down the tire disk where the breaks go cause they where rusted and where making loud scratching noice smh paying out of pocket I have a feeling this car is gonna give me more and more problems. Might have to call the lemon lawyers cause it just don't feel right. my son and I got a car here. First they tried to sell us a clown car. Basically One of those two seater "economy car" . No i wanted my son in a safe reliable car with my grandson. We found a decent one. paid signed did the basic check and drive walk around. apparently u need to bring a mechanic since no car fax was provided and later on issues started within days and weeks after. I bought a car from them in March? Of last year. It was at first a 2019 Lexus that broke down on the SAME DAY, should have taken that as a hint, returned it for a 2020 Kia Forte. This car was working fine, that was until 3 tires needed replacing, I needed to get new spark plugs, and now I might need to get a whole new engine because I went to turn it on and all the lights started going off. Engine, battery, oil, etc. I got every warranty and every single upgrade they offered because I did Uber eats as a job but was only given a 70k mile warranty, like what?? Today I made my last payment. So this review has been 5 years is the making. The buying process was straight forward. $500 down-payment. $450 monthly, split in two payments at every pay day. I bought a 2011 Kia Sorento, it use to be part of a fleet- which the salesman said was a good move because those cars are maintenanced regularly. My car didn't give me any trouble, nor did my loan company. Every payment was made on time, everything went exactly as described. Never had an issue. The TV commercial says "see your real down payment in 30 seconds and your real payment." My friend got approved for $500 down snd $450 a month. We went in and the down payment was now $3000 and our monthly payment was over $500. They pointed out the tiny lettering at bottom of the page that says "as low as" but the commercial says different.. We were pre qualified, and they ran the credit! There is just no way to see your real payment info until you go down there. The perfect definition of bait and switch if I've ever seen it !! I bought a car yesterday from drivetime and when I got on the fwy and hit the breaks the car pulled hard to the right while shaking, I took it to the shop that the warranty co works with and found out the rotors were warped, the Warranty co approved the rotors and them to put the old pads back on , pepboys told them they don't recommend that being they were riding on warped rotors , I had to pay for the pads myself. Mind you this was 2 hours after I bought the car. It is against the law to sell a car with bad breaks. I do not recommend buying from here unless you have the car checked first read more

So so so disappointing. I purchased a car from here in November of last year. I sadly was in a accident and since I loved my previous car from here so much, I decided to return. I reapplied online and got harassed by staff to come in, and I finally did. I purposely took off some time from work, and paid for an Uber to get all the way out here... The staff was incompetent and really got the best of my temper. The two cars I wanted were at a different location, and they told me they could get it for me the following day, even though I had been waiting two hours at this point. I told them that wouldn't be an option for me, as I already invested time and money to just get out here. So they "tried" to get the cars brought to me that day, but coincidently they were both taken. Which I didn't believe for one second... but that's drama for another day. Not to mention, it was empty in there with plenty of staff, yet no one offered to help to get this car sold and off the lot. I asked the guy who was helping me why they couldn't help, which moving cars around, etc. since there were no customers in the store. He said they were all busy and they were short staffed. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Last year I purchased a '13 Nissan Sentra. One day I'm driving to work and the car stops working on the freeway, ON THE FREEWAY, I could have DIED (i live in LA). Luckily I get it to a mechanic and he says that the car needs an entire brake system, a brand new transmission and a new battery. Quoted me at $4500. My soul left my body. And then it returned to my body and I was LIVID. DriveTime would not take responsibility for any of it. They said that it is normal wear and tear.... I hadn't even had my car for a full year at this point. This was last December and now my check engine light comes on again. I took it to the mechanic and he says $450 for a new mass air flow meter. This company is full of dishonest and unsympathetic people that are out to make a dime. They will lie to your face, scam you, and sell you a lemon of a car and won't help you out when the entire car is falling apart and you can't afford to make your car payments and pay almost 5K for repairs. This company priced their cars at an 'excellent' condition Kelley Blue Book price but the car is a piece of shiet. This is my first financed car purchase and it is the worst and MOST EXPENSIVE MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. Shady. Shady. Shady. They sell overwhelmingly questionable vehicles here. The first they tried to sell us was a salvaged title. The second one we actually purchased. Despite a clean title report, come to find out, the car has massive mechanical issues due to excessive oil buildup in the engine that neither their warranty nor the dealer warranty will cover. The real kicker in all this? NONE of that was on the Experian report they showed us, despite all previous inspections at the dealership being listed. The car was shown as coming straight from Las Vegas to So Cal when, in reality, it made an unnoted trip to Sacramento in between. We only became aware of this after taking the vehicle to the dealer to have it looked at. Facts were concealed and I have a hard time believing DriveTime knew nothing about it. This dealer knowingly engages in fraudulent practices and tells you you're S.O.L. if it comes back to them. Don't get stuck in a 5 year contract paying for a car that won't even last for three months. Wish I would have heeded the warnings of all the negative reviews here. Update: Below is a picture taken by the mechanic at the dealer of the oil pan when they dropped it. He described it as "thick brownie batter" on the inside. We had to purchase 4 new tires. Also, when we got the DMV tags renewal, there was a recall for this vehicle that had to be fixed before we received tags. We asked if there were any recalls when we were at the dealership and they said no. As per your response Drive Time, you dropped the ball on the tires. The one front tire had significantly less tread left on it and it was in the front. You could have at least put it in the back. Those tires are cheap, you couldn't splurge and keep your customers safe? We bought that car for our teenage driver. Her teenage boyfriend noticed the tiny tire, and your special safety people could not? Be very careful buying from this place. read more

This place is a bad credit set up! As soon as I signed the contract, the price of the vehicle doubled. I've been paying for it for over a year and I still owe more than the car is worth! Their payment system is another pain in the ass! If you authorize automatic bill pay, they always take the wrong amount. If you make the payments online, they don't deduct the money from your account for up to five days. Most of the time, another company takes too much money and the money for the car payment is no longer available. To avoid that mess, you can go to Wal-Mart and stand in line for an hour and hope they accept your payment. Those people aren't the smartest on the block. Don't even try to use a new card to make a payment online. They won't take it. You have to call in, but not on the weekends or after hours. Good luck!! It's like a triathlon! read more

I got a vehicle one week exactly before my check engine light came on. They were very nice at the dealership but I don't think my check engine light should have came on so soon now I have to take time off work to take it to a Pep boys to check when the issue may be which is ridiculous because something like this shouldn't have occurred so soon. Updated 7/16/2020 I have taken the car to the mechanics 7 times 2 different places approved by silver rock for the same reoccurring issue since I got the car ( map sensor ) and now the car is at the mechanics again due to engine blow by causing my map sensor to go off ..... I will update once I have my car back to see if that was the issue. I have put over 1200.00 in automotive repairs from my own in this vehicle and it hasn't been a year.
