It was our first time here, recommended by a friend. We stopped here to eat before setting up camp. The pictures all looked really good so we were excited to try it. All seating is outdoors on a cute patio. The service is very casual, you grab a menu and place your order at the counter. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had asked if I could have a side salad instead of fries but they don't do that which is kind of funny because they put mixed greens, red onion and tomatoes on the burger and make their own ranch dressing. They make everything from scratch including all the sauces and even the bread. My friend went with the Don't go Bacon my heart and I chose the Fun Guy. My friend liked her burger but didn't like the garlic fries as they were too salty, after trying them I agreed and I really like salt. It definitely was not worth the $3.99 up charge we both paid as we couldn't eat much of them unfortunately. My burger was tasty and fresh. The bread was really good as was their ranch. The meat is a good portion. I wish they cooked the grilled mushrooms and onions to a caramelized color but they were tasty nonetheless. They give everyone silly name cards that they yell out which kept giving us a good giggle as the names were things like Bro, Macho Man, knight in shining armor. Overall a good spot for a quick bite. read more

Friend and I got a burger, fries, and a bowl. The burger was amazing according to him, he also loves the fries as it's crunch and crispy, just to his liking. The bowl is a little tooo spicy to me but the black beans are well cooked which I really like. read more

I'm having a tough time with this review. Yaks used to be one of my favorite places. It's been a minute since I'd been there and I think the changes over the past few years have made it less good. I know they still have a loyal following and to get clear nothing was bad at all. But the loss of table service, no more complimentary sweet rolls, and still significant prices are difficult to reconcile. Also the Scott's tots taste different now, almost sweet and the burger was less flavorful than before. I hate to be one of those "back in the day..." but I can't help it. The interior decor is still excellent and fun, and the owners are the nicest people you'd ever meet. The names they hand out when you order are a fun touch too. read more

We were driving through town and I said I want to eat at the colorful corner spot! It looks cute and busy. I had no idea what we were going to get get. Outdoor patio is clean and shaded. You order at the counter and they give you fun name cards for your order. My favorite name they called was "giggles!" We were Godzilla. I went with the build your own and my husband went with the smiley. The meat was perfectly cooked, there homemade sauces were delicious and the garlic fires were good. We will definitely be back to try the shakes. read more

We came here to enjoy some froyo after a day of hiking. Most of their seating is outdoors, which was great to accommodate our dog. The staff was very friendly so we came back the next day for lunch. I felt that some of their dishes were a little oversauced - double trouble had more BBQ sauce than we would have liked, the lava bowl was on the creamier side, and the garlic fries were a little soggy. Luckily stumbled across this place after a day of hiking the local mountains. The food here is absolutely fantastic. Don't believe me, try the Chipotle Bowl! The Cranberry Salad was also a huge hit. Fun atmosphere with a great outdoor patio and friendly service! Will be back again! read more

Stumbled upon Yaks Shack on our most recent trip to Mt. Shasta and I was impressed with this small town hot spot. Offering both breakfast and lunch options, it's not hard to understand why visitors and townies alike flock to this locale. For such a small staff they are VERY efficient and food came out quickly, drinks even faster. By the time you find a spot on the outdoor patio your order will shortly be announced with amusing order titles they assign to you. With plenty of shaded seating you'll have no problem enjoying an iced beverage or smoothie during the summer time. "New American" cuisine gives this restaurant a misleading title because the menu expands several countries with its fusion options that are all appetizing. The portion sizes are hearty so come hungry and the prices won't crush your wallet. I tried the peachy paradise smoothie and ordered the boom boom mushroom breakfast burrito. Boom boom mushroom: (5/5) well balanced ingredients and perfectly cooked mushrooms wrapped in a grilled tortilla, after the first bite you're gonna be hooked on finishing this. Peachy paradise smoothie: (4/5) pretty good smoothie, hard to balance orange juice and yogurt but they did a good job at this. Not overly sweet or filling. Everyone says how great Yaks is. Especially themselves. Menú looks good and they have a great selection of options. Why only 2 stars is that today their chef wasn't not cooking for their meet well enough. The meat is not a prime steak so you can't serve it raw. My burger was charred on outside and raw in inside. Sure way of getting food poisoning. Bummed as it was hungry and the food here is not cheap. When you order make sure to ask for "cooked" meat. read more

This place is amazing! Burgers and fries are fantastic and there appear to be a huge variety of interesting options. We got the Fun Guy and the Take your Cloves Off, and both were really good (and a lot of food). It was pretty excited to try this place, had good reviews. I'm a PCT hiker who has a pretty low bar considering how hungry we are after hiking so many miles every day. One of the most mediocre burgers I've ever eaten. Pretty overcooked not juicy no flavor. I had the OG and even though it was docked up with a whole bunch of ingredients it was so underwhelming. Also, the milkshake tasted really weird like nothing I've ever had before. I got a vanilla and chocolate. and then for the price of it all just extremely disappointed. I heard last ownership was a bit better. read more

I don't get the hype about this place. I got the jalapeño bacon burger. I'm not someone who cares about calories or nutrition when I'm out on a vacation but this place will just make you think before you put the burger in the mouth. The burger was filled with fried onions and fried jalapeños chips. It was impossible to eat, lacked any flavor and made me sick in my stomach. The chill-antro chicken sandwich was alright. Their famous garlic fries is just regular fries with raw garlic in them. It was disgusting. The tables were dirty and sticky. Super slow service. I would not recommend this place to others. read more

Oh my! This place is awesome. To start there are SO many yummy looking things on the menu. My only regret is I couldn't try more than one burger because they all look good. I had the fun guy burger which was super tasty and honestly stayed together pretty well. Usually when burgers are loaded with yummy toppings it falls apart, but this was solid. I sat outside in the sun. It was a great experience. Super fun place with friendly people. Really hit the spot after a long morning hike. read more

I only order the hazy ipa made by Mt Shasta Brewing but the place is very friendly. You order at the counter and pick up your order to the weird name they give you, like peter pan or santa claus or something like that lol. They also have a great patio area you where you can enjoy the view of Mt Shasta from with your dog. There were like 4 dogs in the patio area as we were drinking our beer. read more

I loved Yaks for their vegan food. Drizzle gets better for vegan options! They've now added vegan burgers -- love seeing the menu continue to grow. But the real star of our visit was the vegan Thai bowl. My wife and I both had it and... OMG!!! 10/10. Absolutely bursting with flavor -- perfectly balanced, fresh, and satisfying. It looks like they may have removed one of the older vegan bowls, but honestly, this one is all you need. It's that good. We'll definitely be coming back for it again and again. If you're vegan (or just love great food), you need to try this place. read more

Drizzle's salads make other salads weep with inferiority. The cranberry arugula salad tasted like Thanksgiving dinner when your least favorite relatives cancel last-minute! Plenty of extra tender smoked chicken, sweet cranberries, and crunchy toasted cashews; my stomach was happy and my tastebuds were bummed the experience was over. read more

Established in 2002.

Yaks Originated in the early 2000's in Redding California. A group of us wanted to bring freshly roasted coffee, real food from scratch with other worldly flavors, and warm artistic environments to our city and everywhere else we went after. Since then we have expanded what we offer by a lot and do so much more! Come check us out and see for your self!

They also have a good selection of used books, as well as brand new books that are region specific. Barista Zach was very friendly and helpful. He made me an excellent Mocha. If I lived in or near Yreka, Zephyr is the kind of place I would become a regular at. Highly Recommended!!!

Parm garlic wings were crispy and yummy! Tiramisu- served in a cute jar and pretty tasty. Fresh and fluffy great for being made in the USA!
