Tremendously enjoyed the show. Pub-style theatre is, and always has been, popular in Shakespeare's native England. This troupe epitomizes perfectly why such a performance style is so much fun, largely by keeping the quality of their work so high. It's a rare actor who can bounce between perfect iambic pentameter and brilliant improv, but fortunately for me last Saturday night this company was full of them. I'll admit I may be a little biased since I got called up to do a shot at the start of the show, but I was by no means the only audience member the actors who got to join the fun. If you even slightly enjoy alcohol or Shakespeare, get yourself over to Quinn's soon (which as it turns out is a pretty cool spot as well) and enjoy people who are talented at both. read more

This was seriously one of the most fun nights I've had in a long time. We went to a Thursday night performance of Macbeth for a friend's birthday and had a blast. After telling the actors who the birthday girl was, they made sure to include her, which made everything even more fun. There is a lot of laughing, a lot of drinking, a lot of inappropriateness. I cried of laughter! What an amazing experience from beginning to end. My husband took me out for a date night and couldn't have picked a better spot than Drunk Shakespeare. The performers elegantly blended a modern twist alongside Shakespeare's classic Macbeth. The intimate library setting provided a great platform for constant crowd interaction. It's a pretty small place so it doesn't really matter where you sit. We sat up top on bar stools. Try and get there early so you can get your drink on right away otherwise you may have to wait a bit for your drink. It's for an all age drinking crowed! read more

If "The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool." then all of the actors in Drunk Shakespeare are very wise men and women. This was an amazing show full of fun, verse, antics, and drinking. Their performance of MacBeth was a mixture of true Shakespearean lines, pop culture, foul language, audience participation, and confusion. Although the building housing the "theater" is difficult to find and odd with no advertisement or lighting, we found ourselves in the midst of the coolest stage/book club setting ever. All of the actors were friendly and engaged in conversation before the show. The drinks while expensive added to the experience and were more often than not stolen from the audience by the "drinking cast member". It is a riot and will add this to my list of recommendations for friends visiting the city. I would love to go again even if it was the same shtick as before as so much was going on and the audience reaction is 75% of the humor/fun. GREAT JOB DRUNK SHAKESPEARE TROUPE! read more

My friends and I went and we could not stop laughing. Not only are the performers funny but amazingly talented. This is Shakespeare like you have never experienced it. It can be extremely interactive if you are lucky enough to sit in the 'front' row. Definitely worth seeing it more than once. Excellent show!! So much fun!! Definitely recommend it for a night out with friends or girls night out. Unlimited drinks all around, the actors encourage audience participation and the show is different each time. I know that they usually have 2 shows per night -- I would probably recommend going to the first one as it's more fun when the actors still know what they're doing LOL as opposed to the second show when they are completely wasted. First--not a family friendly show, that's not a criticism, just a warning. Also, if you are a Shakespeare snob, don't go--again not a criticism, just a warning. Disclaimers out of the way, this show was a BLAST!! It is a small intimate theater and the actors relish interacting with the audience and, in fact, involve the audience in the show. Quite frankly, I think the cast has a high tolerance, but they play it up. If you are not distinctly opposed, GO!! (The espresso martini is great!) Fair warning, when you show up the foyer is empty of staff until right before showtime. Don't worry, just enjoy messing with the other patrons. read more

Went to the 10pm show. The actors were funny, mixing in the text of the original play with modern references, sayings, and impressions. In addition to being funny, found them able to deliver on key dramatic moments as well. Also being surrounded by books and the intimate nature of the theater gives a real personal feel to the show. We were looking for something to do Saturday night in New York and found this on Yelp. What a fantastic suggestion!!! You don't have to be a Shakespeare fan but if you are and you have a sense of humor this is for you. It is a very small intimate performance space and there is a lot of audience participation. If you want to be very involved and don't offend easily sit on the floor. If you prefer to be more observer then the upper level is better and sitting along the sides is the best place there. I can see a Broadway show any time when it comes through my hometown but this is something quirky and unique that I could only find in New York! read more

I went to the show last night and, from the moment I was handed a free shot upon entering the "theatre," I knew that it was going to be a good night. The actors were truly talented and hilarious and did a great job of getting the audience involved. I walked away from that performance with a deeper understanding of Macbeth and a cramp in my stomach from laughing so hard. A little bit intelligent and a lot bit drunken fun. They know their Bard and their booze well. The drinks for guests were small and pricey so keep that in mind when planning your evening. They did accept credit card tabs. However if you get show tickets at TKTS they are one of the few that are cash only. We grabbed a quick pizza slice before the show at Pizza Famiglia, which is right down the street. Doors open 30 minutes before the show. If you paid for a balcony seat come then and you might be upgraded to a better seat if space is available, like on Wednesdays. The show space is small, so there's not a bad seat, and if you really want to impress you can spend $500 to sit two people in thrones and be a bit more a part of the action. The night we went no one had purchased the thrones so they were auctioned off for around $150. I considered it simply because it's the most comfortable seating in the house. Everyone else is on benches and barstools. The couple who bid highest received a crayon portrait of themselves at the end of the evening. They make fun of people and politics while bouncing through a Shakespearean play with few props. Don't take anything too seriously, just grab a drink and enjoy the show. read more
