My birthday was this past Friday, and I decided to treat myself to a blowout with my best friend. It was my first time at a Dry Bar and unfortunately for my wallet I AM HOOKED. We showed up (with appointments, although slightly late due to Newton traffic) at around 1:30PM on a Friday. The place was absolutely packed, so I knew I was in for something good! My hair was done by a wonderful woman named Jordan. She's absolutely awesome but only works Fridays--be sure to request her if you're lucky enough! I got a 'Cosmo' blow out with a 'Floater' add-on, which is a 10-minute scalp massage. Apparently with the Floater, they also add in extra product treatment to your hair while massaging. You can choose either the Bay Breeze treatment or the Mud Mask treatment (both normally + $20) which I wasn't expecting. Needless to say the add-on was worth it. My hair was then blow dried and styled perfectly. My stylist listened when I said that I'm not a fan of too much hair product, and was meticulous when styling. The best part: Jordan did a little searching behind the scenes after my blow out, and was able to find me a bottle of Dry Bar shampoo that I'd been searching for for MONTHS! I was able to buy it while checking out, I was so happy. Also, I'm on day 3 of this blowout and it still looks fantastic. The Dry Bar brand dry shampoo has kept my hair looking grease-free which is pretty unheard of for my hair. I'm sold. Book your appointment now. read more

I have been a regular customer (intermittent BarFly) since 2016 and recently learned out that DryBar is cheating people out of service they paid for already if they discontinue membership during the pandemic. Their contract says that if you cancel your membership, you have 90 days to use your accrued credits. THAT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE PANDEMIC HAS SALONS CLOSED IN YOUR AREA. YOU LOSE. I've been coming here for the past 4 years. 90% of the time I'm seated right on time or a little early. I've had one bad experience and they went above and beyond to make it right. It's one the things I will miss most moving back to Florida. I have extremely thick curly hair and they manage to blow it out in under an hour and it stays for about a week every time. read more

I was having a bad hair day and I was crunched for time, plus I had plans to go out that night, so I decided to try the Drybar. Drybar is a concept where they supposedly specialize in blow drying and styling hair; they do not do color or cuts at all...just styling. The stylist I was assigned started to wash my hair with cold water. When I told her that the water was cold, she switched it to burning hot. When I told her it was too hot, she changed it back to way too cold. (Granted, this may not have been entirely the stylist's fault, it could be a problem with the salon's plumbing mixing valve, but it is still a big problem for the client, let me tell you.) While I was getting my hot and cold dousing in the back, the stylists were trash talking other clients who were still in the salon and talking private B.S. among themselves as though the clients were not there. This made my experience all the more uncomfortable as it felt icky and was degrading. Okay, so now I was the very opposite of relaxed and I should have left at that point because it just got worse and worse... I was presented with a book of choices for how I would like my hair styled. I explained what I was looking for (loose controlled waves, not rocket science) and my "stylist" began to blow dry my hair with an extremely hot blow dryer and the curling brush, pulling my hair in the extreme, making me worry about how this was affecting my hair's health. AND, the boiling hot water of earlier was not the end of the torture in store for me; I had to have my scalp burned with the blow dryer, too....OUCH!! In the end I was out $50.00 and my hair looked flat with no volume at all (I usually have lots of volume, as I have medium thick wavy hair that holds a curl). My hair bore no resemblance to the style we had discussed, and it actually had no style at all, it was just limp and flat with a silly curl on the ends. I now needed to correct my bad hair at home even more so than when the day began. The Drybar turned my bad hair day into a bad hair horrorshow!!!! read more

I don't know if it's my hair (asian, fine, long, overly processed) or the salons but this is the second time i made an appointment to have someone blow dry my hair. It looks like i did it. But it's like a manicure, you COULD do it yourself but you have someone else who does this all day and have more experience do it for you, save your arm strength and the effort. Anyways, my stylist was lovely, I had a tea, I watched Blind Side and in 40 minutes i had freshly washed hair with slight curls that went flat by the time I got to my destination. There were alot of products put in my hair and I had hoped for more volume but seemed as usual. I did notice I didn't have to wash it for 2 days versus the one day. So that was nice. read more

The dry bar location in Chestnut Hill is so dirty and dusty it makes me wonder if it's actually a good idea for me to get my hair done there. There's no other places close to me like this, so I have continued getting blowouts recently. I wonder... If I am able to see all this dirt and dust everywhere what dirt and dust can't I see? While getting hair washed and looking up at the ceiling, the chandelier and the ceiling and the moldings are all caked with dust blowing in the breeze of the air conditioning and heating vent. The same is true in the front of the store hanging from the chandelier with the hairdryers. And the front desk person was gabbing about how annoyed she was that her Uber driver for Uber eats was hanging out in one spot and not bringing her her chocolate covered French toast. It's silly and unprofessional and she was disrupting the person doing my hair, trying to show her dresses for her upcoming trip. It is expensive to get hair blown out and you want to feel like the person and place are supportive, paying attention to your service and it is a safe and clean environment to be in and it is hard to feel that way when I've come to dry bar chestnut Hill, the last few times. read more

Yesterday I arrived for a blow-out, and when I checked in, the woman did not tell me they were running late. There were so many people standing around that I asked her if there would be a wait, and she said "definitely" and rolled her eyes (thanks for telling me when I checked in??). She told me the wait would be 10-15 minutes, but I waited for 45 minutes. When I asked about the hold up, the woman at the front desk said they had overbooked and had forgotten to put me in the queue but that she would wash my hair. She washed it, and then I sat for another 20 minutes with dripping wet hair, waiting for a stylist. The stylist then informed me that my hair was full of shampoo and needed to be re-washed. I then got a below average blowout (had to straighten it with an iron when I got home) and waited another ten minutes for someone to come over and check me out. I was there for TWO HOURS!!! Unfortunately, my experience here mirrors a lot of others it would seem. My 9:15 appointment turned into a 9:45 actual, which wasn't a big deal to me because I wasn't in a hurry, but several other customers were. It appears this is a pattern, so make sure you don't assume you'll be on time. Something needs to get fixed here. As for the blowout, my actual experience during everything was good. My stylist was very nice and she totally helped shape the image I wanted for my hair. To my disappointment, 20 minutes after I had left (and tipped generously), all of my curls had fallen out completely and my hair looked like a bad straightening job. Just for reference, my hair holds a curl very well, and when I do it myself this is not an issue. Not sure what product was put in my hair but it basically removed any styling that was done. I had to style my hair myself at home with a curling iron and attempt to get the look I wanted, AFTER spending a pretty penny. I will be looking to other dry bars in the future. It wasn't worth it to show up before my appointment as they requested, wait (because they were behind), and then essentially have someone else dry my hair and then have to style it myself. read more

Dry style took literally 10 minutes and looked extremely foolish when complete. Usually when I leave dry bar I feel great! But this time was really a let down. I'm actually sad the stylist and receptionist let me walk out of the store looking so awful! Usually I love dry bar because the service is great and you can enjoy a refreshment or a treat but wasn't even offered water this time. Really felt I could have given my business to a better place since it was literally 10 minutes of effort that left me feeling worse than when I walked in! Really wish I read these reviews before coming here. In the email confirmation they stressed that you must come on time or forfeit your apt and still be charged so I came early. When I checked in the girl sitting at the front didn't mention to me that they were running late. When I walked up to find out how long an apt lasts and when I would be seated (it was now my apt time) she said they were running 10 minutes late and was really quite rude about it. Would have been nice to know right away, I would have gotten a coffee next door. I was finally seated 20 mins after my apt time and honestly could have done a better blow out myself (and wish I had to save myself time money and aggravation). Very average blow out. Not at all worth $45 and the tip I felt obligated to leave. Side note - the woman who did my blow out asked if I had just gotten a hair cut - and NO! I had it cut short over a month ago and it still looks SO FRESH. Sadly L hair boutique is closed on Mondays so I couldn't go there for my blowout. This was my first time getting a blowout. Pros: -This location stuck to the appointment time. I was nervous they'd be running late based on all the negative yelp reviews. -My stylist was friendly enough. -Clean, inviting space Cons: -Please, warn a girl next time you offer her water that you know is lemon (or was it lime?) flavored! Talk about strong. -In all seriousness, the blowout itself was disappointing. I got the "Mai Thai" and it looked nothing like the instagram pictures DryBar posts or the menu. It looked a lot more like a huge, poofy "Southern Comfort." My stylist told me the hair would settle down, but I had a family portraits session four hours later and my hair was still very, very large and bouncy. Nothing about it was "subtle beach waves." I felt so self-conscious about my hair during the whole portraits session. -Apparently the blowout is supposed to last a week!? I slept on a silk pillowcase and the next morning my hair was a wreck and totally gunked up and matted from all the product in it. Kicking myself for not reading the reviews before- had many of the same experiences! -Front desk lady asked me if I wanted a drink, I requested water and never received it. Fine, whatever. At least she was there this time- other times I've waited 5-10 mins for her to even show up! -Stylist never introduced herself. -During the hair wash, water kept changing from warm to ICE COLD to cool. So not relaxing! She also didn't rinse my hair thoroughly and had super long nails that felt bad. -When I mentioned the cold water her answer was a terse "it fluctuates." -Music was WAY too loud. -Didn't towel dry me and my hair dripped all over my shirt for first 5-10 mins of blowout! -Hair came out fine, that's why I'm giving 3 stars. I signed up for the monthly deal to have 4 blowouts per month. Within a month, this location was never able to start my appointment on time. I usually have to wait 10-15 minutes because they are always overbooked and running late. Yesterday, I had an appointment at 9:15 AM and upon arrival, I was informed that they were understaffed and there were 3 people in front of me, therefore they did not know what time they would take me. When inquiring about why didn't they called me, I was informed that they cannot call the customer if they are running behind on appointments (of course because they don't want people to cancel appointments and the odds of someone waiting once the person is there are higher) per corporate policy. When I inquired about the manager, she was nowhere to be found. I waited 50 minutes for my appointment and the manager was a now show until the time I left. I asked the receptionist to cancel my membership and refund the remainder of blowouts and she told me he can't - only the manager can do that. She also told me the manager would call me and email me before the end of the day yesterday - I'm still waiting. While I was at the location, I witnessed over 10 clients taking their frustration with the disrespect on making them wait on the poor receptionist and in the hairdressers. In summary - The policies and procedures applied at this location are disrespectful to the client and unreasonable. Beyond that, the manager does not care, so I highly recommend you to go to another place if you don't want to waste time due to their disregard of your appointment time. read more

Horrible blow out...I have not been back to any Drybar location since 2016 when not once, but twice, my hair was ruined for two important events. I, against my better judgment, booked a last minute blow out here this past Saturday (11/2) before leaving for a wedding I was attending out of state. Seriously, my hair had 0 volume and was totally lifeless. I requested bouncy curls, that would hold until the wedding at 4pm ( My appointment was at 9am) since I had to drive my to location about 3 hours away. I looked like Shirley Temple by the time the stylist was done. She did not communicate or talk to me for the duration of the 45 minutes I was sitting here. I figured my hair would fall, but I asked the stylist to pin my hair so the curls did not deflate. She did not want to and got annoyed when I asked her to. She just loaded my hair up with spray... After I again asked her to pin up the curls, she did begrudgingly. I did take my hair out finally when I got to the hotel. I still looked like Shirley Temple and my curls were even more tangled than when I started out. My hair fell shortly after getting to the wedding as I predicted. I honestly could've curled my own hair with the flat iron for the style and blow out I was given at Drybar. Just a total waste of $49 (plus the $10 I gave because I felt bad). I honestly had a terrible experience at this DryBar location. I had booked an appointment to style my hair for my graduation that night. I had picked the Cosmo-Tai as my look and discussed with my stylist that I wanted loose curls. While she was very nice throughout our appointment, my hair looked terrible. I ended up with a messy, mostly straight look with some curls that lasted about 5 minutes after I left. I told her the style wasn't what I wanted, and she tried to fix it with no success. We were out of time, so I left unsatisfied and had to redo the curls when I got home. This was honestly a waste of money and I was so disappointed. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I booked my appointment online which was great. I drove over for my appt but got the location confused with BeStyled, the other blow dry bar across the street. When I realized my mistake, I quickly jumped back in my car, crossed rt 9 and went inside. Due to my confusion, I arrived 7 minutes late. The woman who checked me in was incredibly rude. When I checked in, I was informed I was late. No hello, no welcome to dry bar, nothing. I explained I got the locations confused and she informed me because I was late she couldn't promise I'd be seen. She instructed me to wait and she if she could get me in. I was 7 minutes late. You mean to tell me that in 7 minutes, they filled the slot? Are the staff so overbooked that they are treated like machines and expected to just see client after client with no breathing room in between? All I know is that they didn't offer me anything to drink, like they did the other clients who checked in after me and they were very very rude. Shocked by the level of attitude I received I decided to leave. As I saw it, the experience of being pampered and made to feel beautiful and special was ruined. The last thing I wanted to do was give this establishment my money. Save yourself the trouble, go to BeStyled across the street. They were sweet, accommodating and the experience was exactly what it should have been, pleasant and enjoyable. read more

I'll start by saying that I've been to DryBar in Back Bay and in NYC (UWS location). All of my experiences have been fantastic to date. Except yesterday. Here's why: (1) Honoring Requests - A friend booked a group blowout to celebrate my upcoming wedding. Even though she asked for us to be seated together at the time she made the reservation (which was weeks prior), we were not. It was as if we were just walking in as separate clients rather than a group celebrating a special event. When asked, the manager said "We're doing the best we can." (2) The Music - I understand the rationale for the music (otherwise all you would hear are the hair dryers), however, the music was painfully loud. It was so loud that I could barely speak with my stylist while being shampooed. I overheard a conversation between the manager and a stylist where the stylist asked on behalf of her client if the music could be turned down. The manager said, "No." (3) The Stylists - My stylist appeared to be under weather and tired, which of course can't be helped, but her attitude just wasn't great. She seemed annoyed to have to work with me. Some of the other stylists in the salon weren't particularly friendly either. Overall, I did not feel welcome. Again, this is VASTLY different from every other experience I've had at Drybar. I'd suggest just going to another location. read more

The phones at this location don't work, no one contacted me and it was 15 mins past my appointment time (despite me getting there 15 mins before and checking in) until I went into the location and just asked for an update. I came here recently to get my hair done before an event. I have been to a few before, but wasn't sure what I wanted. We went as a group of 6, and when finding out that 1 person would be very late, they were able to accommodate her needs to fit her in once she got there. They took us 1 by 1, but we were able to be all seated together. While my hair turned out to be gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for, the atmosphere and customer service were overall disappointing. The music was an odd selection, and was very loud I couldn't hear my friends. They also didn't serve alcohol, which I thought was odd for a "dry bar". Also, I feel like the price is much higher than it used to be, and you are not getting any extra service. The entire time, they are trying to push their products on you, making me afraid to even say yes to hairspray, thinking that would add on in cost. Overall, I think my disappointment comes from me feeling like its a process, and not an individualized experience. i felt like it has become way to standard and chain-like, which was not worth the cost for the overall experience. read more

I've never been compelled to write Yelp reviews, but there is a first time for everything. Really not worth the money this place. And I don't think it has much to do with the person I got, it has to do with the lack of training the staff receives. You'll only walk out of there happy if you happen to get someone who really loves doing hair, but for some reason didn't want to go to beauty school. I went in asking for the Cosmo which is one of their wavy styles. I have straight hair, but have been to plenty of hairdressers who can manage this no problem. My 'do went from wavy to straight within 30 minutes of leaving this place, which is not what I expect after spending 40 dollars on my hair. I don't care if they claim this is a low price, it is not low enough for the blow out I received. I could have done and have done a better one myself. My hair is normally so curly it puts Jessie Spano to shame. After getting my hair blown out here before my sister's rehearsal dinner, it goes without saying that I love, love, LOVED my hair. I've never looked so glamorous and chic. And yeah, I sipped on the bubbly while someone else made me look like ten million dollars. The best part? I wanted the beachy-waves hairstyle and the woman who did my hair was kind enough to point out that it wouldn't be much different than my natural hair and offered an alternative. She definitely didn't have to do that but the above-and-beyond service just topped off my experience here. My boyfriend loved my hair so much that he almost ruined it by touching it so many times. No worries - a little extra hairspray and it still looked almost as good the next morning after sleeping on it. read more

My sister scheduled 8 people on her wedding day to come in the morning and Dry Bar messed up and said she had only scheduled 6. She had it in writing that they had confirmed for 8, so it's really frustrating for them to have this kind of mistake on her big day. They also made my mom look crazy with shirley temple curls, which is confusing to me because it seemed like all they did was use a curling iron to her hair when she wanted a blowout. For my hair, I wanted big messy curls. My curls fell out by 3 pm and I had to re-do them at home with a curling iron. The curls that the stylist did also didn't look any different than what I could have done on my own. I did like my stylist though because she was nice, but I probably won't come back here. FYI my sister came back the next day for an updo, and it just looked unprofessional. She had hair strands sticking out in random places. The stylists need to work on their technique. read more

I used to go to Blo for blowouts when I lived in Manhattan a few years ago and I am so happy that blowout spots are finally coming to the Boston area! I have always wanted to check DryBar out and finally made an appointment for a blowout before going to a friend's wedding. From the moment I stepped through the front door, I was in my happy place. The decor is so fresh and relaxing -- I LOVE the yellow and gray thing they have going on! Check-in was super easy and pleasant; I was fine to sit in a comfy chair with my coffee while waiting for my appointment time. The stylist that worked on my hair was very friendly and got right to work on the Mai Tai look (beachy waves) that I asked for. We chatted while she styled my hair and I enjoyed the experience so much that I was trying to figure out how I could fit a DryBar membership into my schedule/budget before the appointment was even over! So why the 3 stars? The beachy waves never happened. Ever. My appointment time was a few hours before the wedding and the stylist said that she would make my hair curlier so it would fall to looser waves as the day went on. This is something that I've done/experienced before, so I was totally on board with it. But 3, 4, 5+ hours later, I still had what I didn't want in the first place -- crunchy, defined curls. I don't know if it was the products used or heat level of the styling tools or the weather or just my hair ... who knows. It pains me to give a lower rating to DryBar - with the exception of how my blowout turned out, I really did love every other part of my experience. The stylist was great and I do appreciate how she was trying to save me from hair woes at the opposite end of the spectrum! I just wish that the results had turned out differently. : / read more

I went into Drybar Chestnut Hill to get my hair done for my engagement photos that night. Since it was a special day, I wanted to make sure my hair looked fab. I had never been to a Drybar location before this, but have heard good things from friends so I decided to outsource my hair for the event. Who doesn't want to look beautiful for their engagement photos? I arrived and was seen on time. The stylist was very quiet but nice. Whatever, I'm not a very talkative person anyway, so it didn't bother me. The wash was fine. She didn't seemed concerned when I told her that my hair has a hard time holding a curl. I was confident that my hair was going to look great. Then, the blow dry started. She practically burned my scalp a couple times with the dryer. She adjusted after I told her, but then proceeded to go over my hair with the dryer at least 15 times on each piece, which seemed like a lot. My hair is fine and soft and you have to put a lot of product (mouse, dry shampoo, texturizing spray, something) to make any style stick. If you have ever done any hair professionally you would know that you can't put too much conditioner in fine hair. It just makes it beyond slippery and good luck getting it to hold any style. My normal hair stylist told me I should never put leave in conditioner in because it's too heavy for my hair. What did this drybar stylist do? Put in leave in conditioner... After she dried my hair and it was obviously not holding a curl, she told me she would go back with a curling iron. Okay, fine. But then she started texting on and off during my blowout. Even leaving her phone on the counter face-up so she could see if she got a message. I was getting a little impatient because I was seeing pretty much no progress. My hair had 0 volume like in the photo I chose, and no curl. Finally, she used the curling iron to add some pieces in, and then sprayed and I was done. Overall, not impressed, but I was pressed for time and just said okay and paid my $40 + suggested $10 tip and left. 30 minutes later, my hair looked like I had let it air dry. It had 0 curl, 0 volume. My fiance even asked me if I had skipped my appointment. I was so frustrated. I tried to fix it myself with a curling iron, but my hair was too far gone. Too much moisturizer on these fine locks. Needless to say, I won't be back. I wish the stylist would have taken 2 minutes to just talk to me about my my hair. What works, doesn't work, how I normally style it, what product I use, etc. I know it's not a "blame the hair" situation because both myself and my normal hair stylist have been able to get curls that last 6+ hours. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience at Dry Bar Chestnut Hill and will absolutely not be going back. My "stylist" had a miserable attitude. I don't even know her name because she didn't introduce herself. She washed my hair so aggressively and didn't bother putting the towel on my shoulders, so she got water all down the back of my shirt. When she was done, she didn't wrap my hair in a towel, so I dripped all the way to the chair! Instead of gently brushing my hair to detangle it before blowing it dry, she yanked the brush & literally ripping my hair out. While she blew it dry, she continuously wrapped my hair around a round brush, and then yanked down on the brush to get my hair out of it. I asked her to stop doing that and she was quite offended. All she said was "oh" not even an apology or an attempt to stop! She continued to pull my hair just as she had been, and then proceeded to get my hair stuck in the blow dryer vent! At this point I was upset that my repeated requests for her to be more gentle had been completely disregarded. Once again, I asked her to be more careful and she responded very defensively "I do this all the time." I decided to give her one final chance. She began to curl my hair and the final straw was when she actually smacked the curling iron against my head. At this point I stood up, grabbed my bag, and went to the front desk to ask for a new stylist. The manager, Denise, came out and asked me what had happened. After telling her the story she apologized and asked me if I'd been offered anything to drink (which I, of course, hadn't). Denise brought me a glass of water which was dirty with a lipstick stain. This was an awful experience. I will absolutely not be going back to Dry Bar and will tell my family and friends to avoid it at all costs! read more

Skills vary greatly among stylists, who by the way mostly act like they could care less about customers. Had a stylist last week who was awful. She said she understood what I asked for, but clearly did not or could not do the job. My hair ended up lumpy and dried out. It had FAR too much product in it and felt dirty. I'd had it done for a weekend in NYC and by the next morning, hated it even more. Misshapen and no shine. I was embarrassed and furious. With more $$ left on a gift card I have to go back 1-2 times more. I'll be sure to insist she not be assigned to me and next time be bolder and more direct with whatever stylist I get. read more

I've been to the dry bar 5 times, each time making an appointment, and each time taken in 15-30 min late. The last time I was there, I was in a rush, had a newborn waiting for me at home, and was really hoping they would actually take me at my scheduled time. 20 minutes past my original appointment time, I got fed up with the general lack of consideration, and went to the front desk to ask what their system is, and how I can schedule appointments so that I am taken on time. I was asking for the sheer purpose of knowing what to do next time. The receptionist seemed annoyed at me, and rudely told me there is nothing they can do since they can't predict how long each customers hair takes. Finally, I was called 30 min after my scheduled start. The lady doing my hair was not friendly, and did a bad job with my hair. I specifically asked her to blow dry it out of my face, but unfortunately when I left my hair was flopping on top of my eyes. This has happened to some extent every time I've been there, and I always have to fix it at home. I can't understand how I can manage to blow dry my hair at home so that it stays out of my eyes, but some professionals can't seem to figure it out. This was the last straw with the dry bar, and because of their overall lateness, as well as inability to keep my hair out of my eyes, and receptionist rudeness, I am not going back. I suppose that as long as they have customers that are not in a rush and don't care about waiting a half hour past their scheduled time, they will stay in business. But for me, it is simply not worth the time or money. read more

Oh Drybar. I'm totally in love! It is amazing what a good hair wash and blow-dry can do for a woman. I was recently in the hospital for several days and when I left my hair was a hot mess. My hair is super thick and pretty long. My mom convinced me to give the Drybar a chance to handle the mess that was my hospital hair. She called to make an appointment for me the day after my hospital discharge. She let them know my deal (incision from neck surgery & limited head movement) and they reassured her that everything would be fine. I arrived for my appointment and was instantly offered something to drink. My stylist offered extra towels behind my neck to make me more comfortable and another to cover my incision. She acknowledged my incision but only to make sure that I was was feeling ok. The whole experience was so comfortable and relaxing! As far as the actual blow-dry...it was perfection! My hair looked fantastic. And not just for that day. It lasted for several days! Perfect! I'm a Drybar addict now. I can't wait to go back and I will definitely be returning to give the other styles a try! read more

I really wanted to love and recommend this place because the staff was so nice and the service was excellent, however my hair did not even last through the hour following my appointment. Once you walk into the salon you are greeted and offered a drink for free! It was busy inside but I did not have to wait long on a Saturday morning. My stylist was very nice and the decor of the salon was very modern and clean. I got the Cosmo-tai hair style and it looked beautiful with lots of curls. Everything was going really well until I walked out and drove home. It was a nice 70 degree morning at the end of September but I decided to turn on my air conditioner and close my windows so my hair would not get messed up from the wind. I guess that didn't help. Two hours later, when I arrived at the wedding I was prepping for, my hair was completely straight again. I decided to get my hair professionally done so that it would last through the night and it didn't even last through the ceremony. I would have been better off using my 30 dollar curling iron at home. read more

Have never had to wait long and always got a good to great blowout here. Last Sunday, Rosa did my blowout and really took her time with the shampoo, the sectioning, and the blow dry itself, so that my hair looked smooth and shiny and perfect. Generally with a drybar blowout, it seems a bit fluffy and/or stiff and I don't love how it looks when I get out of the chair - but it holds up well enough during the week. With Rosa, I was delighted as soon as I stood up and looked in the mirror. She even got my part just right. Will definitely request an appt with Rosa again! PS - The Harvard Square location is dreadful. Back Bay is usually way behind schedule, so i have to wait and then they rush the blowout. read more

I've been here 3 times and I will continue coming back. Walking into Drybar is like entering hair paradise. First impressions are the most important. It looks, smells and feels so inviting. They have great movies on. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Great customer service! My stresses melt away as my tresses are pampered. My hair is long, curly and there's a lot of it. Most salons charge me almost double what Drybar does. At $40 it's very reasonable. And it turns out beautifully. Can't wait to go back! read more

This is my second dry bar experience, and I'm less than impressed. I came here to get my hair done before a wedding and my appointment started about 15-20 minutes late. I wouldn't mind if a they were finishing up on a customer's hair, but they were late because my stylist was getting her hair done by another employee. In my opinion, keeping the clients appointment time should always take priority over fixing your own hair. I asked for a specific style that was listed in the look book because it was curly and my stylist said she recommended something else. I agreed, trusting her professional opinion, but not really knowing what I was going to get. My hair came out hardly curly...more of a wavy/uneven mess. She put so much product in it was too stiff to run my fingers through. By the time I got to the wedding only a couple hours later, half my hair fell completely flat while the other half was still a stiff, wavy mess. Some women left with beautiful hair, but I guess it's just the luck of who your stylist is. I recommend going to any local salon with higher standards. read more

A friend and I had our hair styled here before a wedding a week ago. Our appointments were relatively on time (maybe 5 min later but they were packed). I have very straight hair and I've been told it's hard to style. I let my stylist know ahead of time, because I wanted to try a curly look, and she took her time making my curls extra tight and then putting a lot of hairspray. After I finished paying and was waiting for my friend to finish up, another stylist pulled me into her chair and did a little bit more work on my bangs because she said she saw "a few straight pieces". I thought this was so nice because she didn't have to do that at all and I really liked the small change she made. My appointment was at 12p and my hair held up for the rest of the day and the entire wedding! Even the next morning when I woke up, a lot of the style was still intact, so I believe they did an excellent job and I would definitely go back again and have my hair styled. read more

What a horrible experience. I booked a blow-dry for my birthday. Got an early morning notice that schools were cancelled due to an all-day ice storm. Called the Drybar number (central number in India, you can't even call the salon directly) to reschedule to the next day. Because it was outside of the 12 hour window they charged me the cancellation fee. I couldn't even dial the Chestnut Hill salon to see if they were open. Roads were treacherous and most businesses closed for the storm. I will never be using Drybar again. read more
