I had an amazing first time experience! I opted to add on the moisturizing hair product, I believe it was called the Bay Breeze, and the Scalp Massage. I enjoyed the scout massage however it was definitely a likely future skip since I didn't feel too different from just getting a normal hair wash service. The added moisturizing treatment has left my hair feeling silky soft to the touch! My stylist went above and beyond and being friendly communicative and learning a little bit about me, which I really appreciated it as her last client of the day! The vibes were welcoming, friendly and open from the moment I arrived! I really enjoyed that they were showing comfort movies while I was getting my hair done. It really helped the service fly by. I requested the Matt Thai hair look and I left more than happy my stylist absolutely crushed it and I feel gorgeous!! I highly recommend this dry bar and I will be back! read more

I arrived at 9:13 for a 9:15 appointment. They didn't take me until 9:43. I was pointed to the "extended time policy" that they've implemented. If, for whatever reason, your blowout goes behind the allotted time of 45 minutes, you're charged extra. I really hate this policy for multiple reasons; so the skill (or lack thereof) of the stylist now becomes my problem? I've been getting blowouts with varying length hair for a decade, and those who with expertise have always been able to do this in 45 minutes. But if I get a stylist who either works slowly or is not well practiced and thus it takes longer, I'm the one who has to pay. Got it. This practice also has the impact of penalizing people with coarser, curlier--especially more tightly curly--hair more, and who do those folks tend to be? They were down a person? I don't know if that means someone called in sick or overall they're understaffed, but they have no compunction about wasting my time nor do they call people to let them know they're schedule is going to be significantly behind. I came because I was having photos taken and this put a significant wrench in things. I left at 11 and should have been finished an hour earlier. In addition, the pricing doesn't match their printed materials, it was only $4 more but it's still just wrong. I was a bit nervous coming because of the low rating on Yelp. However, it was better on google reviews. I won a free blowout so it didn't hurt to try it out. Booking was pretty straight forward, but it didn't let you select a stylist. My hair is very thick, long and curly, so I'm very particular about who touches my hair. I did flag that in my appointment. When I arrived, I checked in and waited a few minutes to be seen. Kay was my stylist. She took me to the back to wash and detangle my hair. I let her know I wanted a sleek blowout. She was quick and gentle with my hair. We blew it out and flat ironed as well. Because my hair went over the 45 min block, I had to pay a $15 fee. This is absolutely the best Dry Bar ever! I've been to other locations in other states and it's always been a bit awkward but here the staff was just a whole vibe. I came with my daughter and had an amazing experience from the moment we checked in with Khyia. Myles, Jasmine and China were beyond professional. She used the appropriate product and my hair felt super soft. I also liked that she asked if I wanted hairspray. My hair holds a curl naturally and I hate hairspray so that was a plus! I would def come back to this location again. Only note is parking is tough - not Drybar's fault but the surrounding lots are designated for other stores so it was difficult to find where I could park. They made no effort to make sure that I was comfortable doing my wait, in fact it was over 15 minutes until anyone addressed me that someone would be with me "soon". Drybar "Lincoln Park" is an insult to Lincoln Park. 1) It's actually in old town ( not relevant but still) 2) no customer service at all-no water, no alcohol 3) the 45 minute blowout policy is laughable, so stylists can take their time and charge you arbitrary rates 4) waiting for my stylist while she finished my aunts hair , then she would start on me? This is a two story Drybar , I'm almost positive you can fit 3-4 stylists -with one running the front desk in here. It's best to just go to other Drybars in this area. By far worst hair experience of my life. It was my first and most definitely my last. Started off with the front desk staff feeling less than inviting and after being told it was my first time, they just told me I'd be charged extra for extra time, made me sign acknowledging that and told me someone would be right with me. The stylist came out fairly quickly but didn't introduce herself or ask if I was celebrating anything. I chose a curly old fashioned style to go well with my mob-wife inspired birthday party and she told me the style required a lot of product and suggested I do something else. We agreed on a different big, curly style due to the fact that my hair has layers and it wouldn't look like the picture. The stylist didn't even mention happy birthday or speak at all the entire appointment. The wash was less than enjoyable. She really didn't put in much effort or adjust the sink bowl to fit my neck. And then I didn't see her touch any product at all until the end when she asked if I wanted hairspray. She didn't touch a curling iron at all. I'm not sure how my hair was supposed to stay curled without any heat or product. In fact, it didn't. It was flat and straight by the time I was home. My house is 10 minutes away. If I could leave zero stars, I would. On Sunday I dropped my friend off at this location 15 minutes before her appointment. When she walked in she was informed by the desk person Myles that her stylist was running late. When she asked for and ETA, Myles was dismissive and rude. When she expressed her concerns about the stylists tardiness and how they would cancel her appointment AND charge her for it is SHE was late, he was again rude. She only asked for the ETA because she had another appointment she needed to get to an hour later. After the stylist arrived, Myles had a private discussion with her and the stylist came out and was also rude to my friend. Once my friend was in the chair, the stylist was rough with her, pulling her hair and jerking her head around. The stylist didn't even bother finishing drying her hair. My friend left a nice tip and didn't complain while in the store because she feared for her safety. When I came to pick her up she ran accross the street to my car in tears. When she was safe, she sent an email, to their customer service, only to have them come back and accuse her of cursing at Myles. This is my first time writing a yelp review but I decided to do it to help anyone on the fence about getting a blow out here. Despite seeing a few bad reviews ahead of my visit, I stopped in to get a blow out before a wedding on 5/20. I figured how bad could it be. This was my first blow out ever and Drybar seemed trustworthy. Spoiler alert: I was wrong. The woman who did my hair, whose name I cannot remember, was nice but she was very rough with the brush and applied a lot of heat to my hair. This resulted in my hair BREAKING OFF in many places around the top of my head. These are not just flyaways, these are broken pieces of my hair that I did not have before I got this blow out. Unfortunately, I didn't notice how bad the damage was until I got home. I would not recommend coming here. I really wish I hadn't. I'd like a refund since this visit caused permanent damage to my hair. It's going to take months, maybe years, for these hairs to grow back. read more

My stylist was lovely but my experience at the salon was uneventful. The salon was outdated + dirty with noticeable large cracked flooring and rust. The water during my hair wash was freezing cold. My stylist advised it would heat up but never did. Upon checking out, the front desk up-charged my blow out then proceeded to inform me that my next blow out will be charged an additional fee by going over 4 minutes from my original booking time. She was misunderstood as my appointment did in fact finish within the time frame. I wanted to provide an update to my negative experience at Drybar on 8/22/24. The owner, Joy Vertz, and the store manager, China, did everything they could to make the situation better, which was greatly appreciated. They gave me a complimentary blowout the night of the incident (8/22), and also offered me 2 more complimentary blowouts. They assured me that they are addressing the situation with the staff member, and will be working with stylists in general to assure this does not happen again. While the incident was very upsetting, I do very much appreciate their efforts to apologize and try to make it right. Zero stars if possible. I was supposed to be a first time drybar customer this morning. My appointment was scheduled for 10:45. I get a call at 10:05 letting me know that my appointment is either being moved to another location or canceled because the other stylist did not come in. First off, the customer service of this woman was HORRIBLE. There was no empathy or apologies when relaying this information to me. This was supposed to be a really special day for me as I was going bridal dress shopping for the first time so I wanted to treat myself. Morning completely dampened by this experience. I then offer to move my appointment back 15-30 minutes because I told her I had an event and could not move to another day or location and she proceeds to tell me "well we already have an 11:00". When I asked why my appointment was not prioritized over the 11:00 she said "idk my manager told me to cancel yours". ???? Outside of the fact that my appointment was first, and there was not an ounce of care given the 30 minute notice of my cancellation I asked if she could speak to the manager to fit me in around my scheduled time. She responds "I'll go talk to him" and then hangs up. I was appalled. As expected, no one called me back in those 40 minutes and I just went ahead and called to officially cancel my own appointment since they didn't seem to care. Again, no apologies and her tone of voice was cold. Really disappointed I didn't even get to step foot in a dry bar to try it out and I can promise you I won't be returning to any location based on the management at this location. What a useless experience and waste of my money. First, I booked my appointment online, and selected the curly/wavy hair blowout. I have naturally curly hair and never do a straight hair blow out because inevitably it's too frizzy. I also did an $15 add on conditioner. When I arrived, the stylist asked me what I was getting done. She said "you just want a blowout?" And I said, "well I want what I made the appointment for - I don't know what it's called c but I want it curly, or wavy. Then she asked me what other services I wanted - I said, I just want the treatment I reserved. She didn't know what I meant so went to the desk. She came back telling me they didn't have the conditioner I wanted and offered something different. When I asked what it did, what was the treatment, she couldn't explain / but told me since I'd already reserved it I'd have to pay for it anyway. Hair wash was fine, though she didn't speak to me and seemed put off like doing my hair was the last thing she wanted to be doing. In the chair, she just did a blowout. She blew it straight, and even as I reminded her to please make it wavy and leave my curls, and I didn't want a straight blowout. Well, when she spun me around to the mirror, it was long and straight. She asked if I lied it and I said "No, it's flat on my head, there is no body or lift, can you fix that... she whipped me around, sprayed some spray on the top of my head to lift it. I laughed. I paid, and gave her a tip because she did spend 45 minutes washing and drying my hair. But that was the very last $84 I will ever spend at a DryBar. I came home and washed my hair and restyled it. If your company doesn't train the stylists ti handle naturally curly or wavy hair, don't advertise that style as an option on your websites. read more

I had my first Drybar experience while with a group of girls for a bachelorette party, and it was definitely interesting! I've always said I'd never pay to just get a blowout, because my hair falls really quickly, but the pack was going, so I figured let's give it a try, even if "a try" has a $50 price tag including tip. I was one of the first girls to show up for our 1pm appointment, and was greeted by two kind ladies behind the check-in desk. I sat down for maybe a minute or two before my stylist, Sandra, came by to take me to my styling chair. Sandra was really great. I told her I'd never been to Drybar, and she showed me a lookbook where I could choose from a multitude of options, from tight curls to loose waves. The wash + any blowout costs $40. I chose the Mai Tai, a beachy, effortless style. They also do updos, which they call "uptinis," because Drybar sticks with that bar theme. Cute! While getting my hair done, "Eat Pray Love" played on the televisions in the ground level styling area, and all the stylists who walked by were very friendly. Sandra was super friendly while doing my hair as well, and did a fabulous job (photos below, obviously!). I love what she did, but since it was a style I enjoy frequently, it ended up looking exactly like I do my hair all the time at home. Which is good and bad, because she did it well, but I also paid $40 for someone to do what I could've done! After getting my hair done, I paid up front and tipped (they recommend $10 for blowouts, to which I happy obliged, because Sandra was great). While other girls got their hair done, I joined the group of girls upstairs who were drinking. Drybar allows BYOB, as long as the alcohol isn't a color that would stain, so we brought rosé, champagne, and pinot grigio. This was a fun way to kick off a bachelorette weekend, but I'm not positive that I'd pay $40 ever again for someone to do my hair the way I usually do it anyway! I am so impressed! I feel as those salons now a days are so hit or miss with customer service, quality and pricing but that was not the case with this dry bar location. All I can say is that Kiana the assistant general manager took SUCH GREAT care of me and my hair. I am african american and I have 4c/b hair. My hair stylist kept texting while she had a hot iron in my hair. With one hand she texted, and the other she curled my hair. This is why the curls came out poorly for my important event. Additionally, my stylist had pointy acrylic nails that kept scratching me and hurting my skin. I've messaged the main Drybar customer service 3 times now, with no response. I'd like it if someone at Drybar actually read this and contacted me for resolution. Here's the situation: I had Dutch braids put in at a 2pm appt on 8/27 at the Lincoln Park Chicago location. While the stylist was delightful, unfortunately she did a terrible job with the braids; enough where I had to had to remove them later that day (the intent of them was to get me through a week of backpacking in the woods). I had informed the stylist that I was looking for braids that would keep a week and unfortunately, they didn't last even a few hours. They were messy and falling out almost immediately. I have attached a photo of the braids. I'd like to respectfully request a refund, as I could not keep the braids in due to the subpar nature of the final product.
