While most have been friendly overall and not too chatty (I'm there to relax), I would appreciate if everyone asked me about the water temperature. Also, last year, a male stylist made a terribly racist comment to me. I couldn't believe what he said. He made a reference to some women coming in for appointments with "Kunta" hair. And that he was glad my hair wasn't like that. Beyond unnecessary, rude, hateful, and derogatory. He's in the wrong business if he has a problem with different textures. (if you are clueless and don't know what he meant by "Kunta", he was referencing Kunta Kinta - a slave - from the movie Roots.) I should have said something to management when it happened, will be sure to speak up if some idiot talks like that again.******** I really, really like the concept of Drybar. You schedule your appointment online/app, simply choosing what time you want to arrive. So, you're not necessarily booking the appointment for a particular stylist, although that may be arranged by contacting the salon or stating your preference in the comments. There's very limited seating in the waiting area, but I've only waited about 5 minutes before the stylist greets me. I always specify in the comments when booking that my hair is naturally curly and thick. I don't want any issues once I arrive with a stylist that's not skilled to handle my curls, but it's never been an issue so far. You are quickly escorted to the back for a wash. Feet are propped up on wooden boxes. The wash basins are high, so it's not very uncomfortable on the back and neck. I'm not a fan of hearing all the conversations with other customers and stylists because I like to relax, but it's okay. Usually, the stylist will ask me if the water temperature is okay, but I've also experienced them not asking, which is rude. They don't seem to really care about conditioning the hair much, so I have opted for the mudslide treatment. Didn't feel it was worth the extra $20 though. It's advertised as reparative hair mask, 10 minute scalp massage and some of the mask to go. Well, my massage was nowhere near 10 minutes, I didn't receive any product to go, and shouldn't have to pay extra for conditioning. There are styling options in their little books, so you tell the stylist which one you'd like. There's not much variation, straight to loose curls. After the shampoo, you're seated at the counter. There's a convenient hook underneath for your handbag. They will usually offer a beverage; I usually opt for a mimosa. I don't like being uncovered the entire time my hair is being styled. Show me a person who doesn't lose a single hair in the process. Not gonna happen. So, why do I have hair and spray/product all over my clothes by the time they are done? I don't like it period, but especially if I'm dressed for work and going straight to the office when my appointment is over. I don't know if this is some attempt to be posh or chic, but it doesn't work. They need to put some type of covering over customers. I've been satisfied so far with the end result each time. I prefer a blowout over just flat iron because the blowout gives my hair so much more body and bounce. I don't feel like too much product was used, so my hair isn't heavy once they are finished. I'm usually in and out in about an hour to hour and 15 minutes. That's great. They have TV's behind the counter usually with decent movies playing. Price is $40 and you can tip your stylist of course. The convenience of booking an appointment last minute is what I enjoy most. I've booked appointments the night before and same day, which was great when a prior stylist cancelled last minute, and I was getting ready for an interview. Parking is an issue at this location, very limited, so you'll probably have to go to the garage. read more

Went here for the first time this past weekend, and had a great experience! I made my reservation online a few days before. When I got there, I didn't have to wait long. I had my hair done by Shawn. I decided to get the Mai Tai (messy, beachy hair) and the floater (10 minute scalp massage). The massage was so relaxing that I fell asleep! And I loved how my hair turned out! Shawn did an excellent job, and even showed me how to do those curls in my hair. I got a lot of compliments at my birthday party that night! I had two friends that accompanied me just to watch, and they ended up getting blowouts. The front desk was very accommodating, and was able to fit them in and seat them right next to me. Their hair turned out great too! Overall, loved my hair and the service. I enjoyed the complimentary cocktail and since it was my birthday, they didn't charge me for the floater. I have been here twice. once when they initially opened and had specials for the first time, and secondly thru a gilt voucher. Both times I had a great time and a perfect end result. You get a choice of 4 styles you can do and all the names are alcoholic beverage related. So it's a super cute theme. The only sucky part of this location is the parking. Of course you are trying to go to these salons mainly on a weekend for a special event I would think, and there is not parking here on the side ever. I came once with my Indian outfit on all dolled up but just needing my hair completed. I had to walk from the parking garage to the salon, not good. The service has always been nice, the hairstylist are very chatty and they have movies playing as well on a big screen so you can be entertained by that. I just love this concept because at times I just don't feel like washing my hair for an event and rather have someone else do it for me. So you pay $35 to come here, have your hair washed and blow dried, then they can curl it and style it the way you like. So I had a very different idea of what I was expecting from a $45 wash and blowdry. The customer service is none existent at this place. I walked in for the first time and nothing was explained to me. I saw a bunch of ladies getting blow drys. My person came up and washed my hair. Provided me with the menu of the 5 or so styles. When we were done she turned my chair around and said that I was finished. I had to use the bathroom before I left and an employee cut me off and went in before I could get in the bathroom and I ended up waiting. First, you should explain how everything works...instead of telling me what is normally done when you are not busy. I am paying the same rate for a busy day...just like I would pay for a not so busy day. The point is that if you are charging people the same price then the people expect the same product and attention. My blow out sucked and the customer service sucked. The employee using the bathroom and making a customer wait sucks as well. So the point is that if you have a hair person that you use....just go to them because it is cheaper for me to go to my normal hair stylist. I just thought that they would be super awesome blow outs since that is all they do there. Expensive price, no good customer service, and not a good blow out. For a busy mom that is always on the go I find this place to be convenient, clean, and worth the price. They use a lot of Morrocan Oil products which smell nice. I had an appointment with Eddie and he shampooed and conditioned my hair. For all the reviewers on here complaining about the styles not holding, there is a simple explanation for that and it's called clean hair. Clean hair will not hold a style. If you want to tease and have big Dallas hair, you need to have dirty hair. Always remember that so if you go in for a blowout it's because you are looking for clean and stylish. Do not expect this style to last for three days unless you start with dirty hair and use lots of Aqua Net which they don't use. Eddie was great. I asked him about his experience from which he told me that when he was in school he didn't want to be doing cuts and color all day. He wanted to do runway styling. Honestly that's how I felt when I was in there. I got the Cosmo and mine lasted two days. Of course I take a curl pretty well. Even after bed head and kids pulling my locks, it still felt good to run my fingers through and held a curl very well. I got compliments on it. I wanted my daughter to try the Shirley Temple which is a kid's version of tight ringlets but she didn't want to. They have iphone chargers and flat panels with movies blaring. For $35, I think you are getting a great deal with shampoo blow drying. Most salons and I hate to name them charge you $50 for that service. If you are willing to get a mani for $35, then getting a blow out is a good deal. Also if you are rushing this is perfect. You can get what you need done and continue with the rest of the day instead of waiting for an opening with your salon. The stylist on the go, I forget what's it called, allows for the blowdry at your location of choice. Good service to have. Also, purchasing the membership options is a fantastic deal. You get an even better deal as a loyal customer which I like better over the Groupon/Living Social once a try type of deal. If you are a natural with coarse coily hair, I recommend that you do your research and pick up the phone to request a specific stylist rather than setting up an appointment online. They do have an option to add notes to your online appointment if you want to request a stylist but I personally find it much better to talk with the staff to see for sure which stylists are available on the day of your visit. Luckily I received two recommendations before going to this location, unfortunately one of the stylists (Eddie) has relocated and the other stylist (Che) was not on the schedule that day. So I decided to call and set up an appointment. The receptionist on the phone recommended two other stylists who supposedly had extensive experience with natural hair. This could not be further from the truth. The stylist I was scheduled to see seemed a little uneasy while shampooing my hair and hesitated when I asked her if she had experience with 4c textured hair. I reassured her that it was okay to be honest and get help from another stylist. Finally she agreed and asked Sarah to help her out. Sarah seemed much more confident and knowledgable about what she was doing and in the end my hair turned out nicely. However for low porosity coarse natural hair, detangling and moisturizing is necessary before drying and applying oils help to seal the moisture once styled. From the techniques she used it seemed that she may have had experience with naturals who have a looser curl pattern. In fact, she talked a lot about natural hair which I enjoyed but it was clear 4c hair was not her expertise. I did however tip her for giving it her best shot and offering such good customer service despite the length of time it took her to detangle and style my hair. A blowout by my previous stylist would have taken 45 min and that's to achieve bone straight hair. I was at the DryBar for two hours (see photos for results). Also if you decide to pay Drybar a visit, be sure to clean and deep condition your hair beforehand or you have the option of bringing your own staple products if you prefer. Despite a less than satisfying experience, I do plan to go back. Next time I will schedule to visit the master stylist at this location which I hope to be a more promising positive experience. read more

My last visit here was less than satisfactory. The negatives were: My appointment started late, I had to ask the staff several times for a drink, when I got my drink, it appeared to have been sitting out unattended for some time, the sink water pressure was low and I had to switch mid wash, the stylist did not do a thorough job washing my hair and seemed very inexperienced compared to my previous stylists (using too much heat on my hair, even after I requested her not to), the wash room needs to be touched up as it is starting to look run down. The positives were: the disposition of my stylist. She was very nice, perceptive and poured me a fresh drink after I was given the first drink that had been sitting out. If I hadn't had such positive experiences the first few times, I would have rated even lower. read more

I love this place! I have to admit I was a bit skeptical. It takes me HOURS to blow dry and flat iron my kinky textured hair. This place did not disappoint. When I arrived for my appointment I was immediately asked what beverage I would like and was taken to the sink to wash my hair. It was luxurious! No more craned neck, its hard to explain but somehow the sink was level with me having to recline all the way. Top of the line products were used by Eddie, he even noticed my highlights and used a color protecting shampoo. The blow out was so relaxing with nice smelling Morrocan oil products. I saw Briley Foster today for my blowout and I LOVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE her! She was so super friendly and sweet and she blew my hair out flawlessly. I usually hate when people don't finish my hair off with a flat iron or curling iron, but today my hair didn't even need it. I told her what I wanted without looking through the book, and she gave me exactly what I envisioned. Sort of a cross between the "straight up" and "signature". I am only going to see her from now on because she's THAT good. Now that I found my stylist-match, I'm going to try to fit this in once a week! Appointments start at 8AM. I was there right on time and so was my girl. She was very nice. They offer you complimentary wine or water. I sat down and had my hair washed and then blow dried. Then straightened. Pretty simple. I was in and out quicker than I expected to be. This is great for me, I have naturally curly hair and sometimes I do not want to stand at home for an hour getting ready. So to come here and pay someone just to do THAT alone is awesome. I came in on a Gilt voucher that they honored with no problem. When I was done she asked if I wanted any changes which I did not. Tipped her $10 because it's not suggested but what they should be tipped if you take care of those who take care of you. Ahhhh what an indulgence! I was in Dallas for a wedding and having flown in very late the night before, I was a total mess and wasn't able to bring my styling products on the plane. My daughter (the flower girl) was getting her hair done too, so I book myself an appointment. From beginning to end this was a great experience. The salon is BEAUTIFUL and modern. There isn't the normal chemically smell, there are TVs playing chick flicks, the lighting is awesome, AND they give you mimosas (or just OJ or water) to sip. It took about an hour to have my hair washed, blown out, and curled. I was super happy with how it turned out. My daughter had the same things except for her hair was also braided and had a crown attached. The products they used smelled SO good. I pretty much love the entire Drybar concept as a whole. To me, they were the trailblazers in blowout bars and will always have a special place in my heart. I feel like this concept was designed for someone just like me with a ton of thick hair who doesn't have the time or patience to blow out their own hair. The only reason I don't go on a weekly basis is their price point is a little too high ($45- ouch). I know they have memberships you can purchase but it would be awesome to see some packages you can buy that don't expire that actually make the cost of each blowout more reasonable (i.e.- closer to $30) similar to what other blowout bars offer. I've been to this location several times and my experiences have ranged from amazing to ok. For the price of a blowout, I don't think the experience should ever be just "ok" though. I've had some pretty unfriendly stylists but all have done really great work with my hair, which I suppose is the most important thing in the end. I love the convenience of the online booking and this location is really easy to find with plenty of available parking nearby. There's also a nail salon nearby so you can make it an entire day of pampering or if you need to get all dolled up in a hurry, this street has got you covered! read more

I love the concept of this place. I can chill, grab a drink and get my hair done. The interior is adorable and it's located right where I live which makes it even better. I have gotten my hair done several times here now. Since I have no idea how to manipulate my hair, I let the professionals handle it. I also have a lot of hair and trying to curl it takes hours. Well, this place is amazing. The girls here really know what they are doing. Also so far, the blowouts that I have gotten lasts for quite awhile. My hair doesn't really fall limp after and it maintains its shape for a few days. Getting the membership is definitely worth it. You get 2 blowouts a month for $80, and the blowouts definitely roll over. Also, you get an extra free one on your birthday and discounts on products! Overall, I love this place. Came here on a Sunday afternoon before school started and it was packed! Lots of little girls getting their hair done for school! How cute! My appt started 15 min later but hey it happens. They gave me wine while I waited so how am I to complain? The waiting area is small it's 2 chairs and a bench. When your hair stylist comes to get you, they'll take you to the back room to get your hair washed and then sit you down. You then look at a menu of different blowouts you want. My blowout was nice but the heat just made the curls less curly. My hair was nice but I wish I had a more firm hold. The ladies here are nice and I would come back again. Avoid this location. Really bad experience. Sorry if this is harsh but I think people should know -- they possibly hire newly graduated but definitely incompetent stylists. I'm not directly lashing out at the two stylists who did mine and my sister's hair ... they probably did their best and I can't blame them... but I'm complaining at corporate. A salon like Dry Bar should have a standard to attain to and uphold. My sister was getting married that day so we booked two updos. We showed them pictures of exactly what we wanted (any kind of romantic and flowy updo). During the process, I look over and my sister's hair is nothing like the pic or what we described. Super tight braid, started at the top of the head vs more of a natural braid etc - we explain this to them. They start over. I look over again. Still looks terrible. Do again. Finally my sister speaks up and tells her what she doesn't like about the updo. Stylist redos but after a third time you kinda just give up. My sister settles for a prom-look updo with 10-15 curl loops *cringe*. I had a half up-do done. Showed her a picture with two twists but that was too difficult for her so she said could only do one. Okay fine with me. Finishes my hair and I check it out. Where the two hair sides meet was way too high. I tell her, and she tells me that's what it looks in the picture. I pull up the picture. She realizes and says 'oh' and attempts to fix but honestly just looked like a teenager did my hair at the end of it all. At the end of it appointment, I said thanks, paid, and tipped pretty well (because well, the girl looked like she cried after and I honestly just felt really bad for her). To the salon: don't do this to your customers and to your employees. Afterwards we met with wedding party who all mentioned what a "not-so-great" job the stylists did, to avoid making the bride feel bad in any way. Fortunately we have some girlfriends who made the situation better and worked their magical hands. Never trust DryBar-Plano for updos. Honestly... Don't waste your money. My mom and I came here to get a blow out as we have several times at other salons. I really wanted to try Dry Bar because hellooo, it's Dry Bar! I called the salon to make a last minute appointment and I will say they were very accommodating and the girl on the phone was very nice and professional. My mom and I showed up for our appointment and the salon was completely dead. There was 1 other customer who was finishing up at the time. The front desk person did not greet us or anything, which is not really the end of the world for me. We checked in and she grabbed one of the stylists to let her know that we were there for our appointment. This stylist then began to complain that she did not know she had another appointment for the day, she did not want to take us, she wanted to go home early, and proceeded to storm off into the back. So, I mentioned to the front desk person that if she did not want to take us and was going to have an attitude then I did not want to go to her and would rather cancel my appointment or have another stylist. She agreed and after arguing with the stylist a little more in the front, they went to the back. About 5 minutes later the front desk person brought 2 other stylists out to do my mom and I's hair. They were much nicer, however did not really speak to us at all. I think the entire hour we were there, only spoke to us 3 times. That's fine, I don't need soemone to talk to me that much. My girl may have been new because she seemed very unconfident with the look I requested. Just a simple Cosmo curl. My mom and I both got done with our stylists and the looks we got were not what we had requested. My moms stylist got done with her and did not ask how she liked it or anything, instead he walked in the back and never came back. My girl did ask me and I explained to her it wasn't really what I wanted and pointed out parts we could fix (my hair was not curled at all) so she used a curling iron to curl a few pieces close to my face and then proceeded to say "sorry about that". You would spend your money better by driving 15 minutes to another one. I witnessed the worst customer service of my life for two days straight when they SCREWED UP MY APPOINTMENT TWICE. Not once but twice and then gave shitty excuses and said I was limited to the service they marked down - not what I ordered. It was wedding day for a wedding I was in and I wanted a braid. The front desk told me I couldn't get a braid. When I sat down, I asked the lady if she had time if she could braid my hair and I would pay whatever - I just wanted it done and it was what I had originally booked to begin with. Well - we had time and the lady started braiding my hair. I KID YOU NOT - the snobby lady at the front desk came back and walked right up to us and goes "no there are no add ons you can't have that" - AND MADE THE LADY TAKE OUT THE BRAID SHE WAS ALREADY 3/4ths done with. I offered to pay and there was time left in my appointment for the lady to do a 5 minute braid - but literally the front desk made her unbraid me. WHO DOES THAT? On a recent trip to Dallas to visit friends and shop, I decided that I was not packing my arsenal of products and equipment to blow out my hair. I decided that it would be so much nicer to treat myself by having a stylist do it for me. I went with two friends for our first Drybar experience. What a waste of $35 plus tip. During the hour long process, I had: water and shampoo splashed all over my face (after just having a facial and make-up at Neiman's), had to tell the girl four, yes, four times that I have very unruly naturally frizzy curly hair (can't you see that?), she dropped two combs, a brush, then a blow dryer on me! All of this would have been okay if I had at least got what I asked for. Beauty hurts, after all! But I didn't get what I asked for. I told her to pull my hair up and out while drying to make it full. She didn't. I told her to pull the straightening iron up and out. She didn't. Instead of leaving with a style I'm accustomed to doing at home, or the better one I leave my salon with, I left with flat, stringy, overheated, Afghan hound looking hair! Sure, there's free mimosas and wine, and cookies - what do I care if I can't get a stylist who listens to me. I've been living with this hair for fifty years, I know what it needs. I've been to many Drybar locations, and have always had an amaaaazing experience but this was the first time I was at the Plano location, and I will not be returning. I was there today, for my birthday, which was known. I told my stylist, and I made a mention of that on my appointment. First off, I walked in, and the receptionist up front was to busy on her cell chatting with another employee that after I told her my name she said absolutely nothing in response so I just kind of stood there wondering if she needed anything further, or wondering what the deal was, I was not offered anything to drink, which when you come here, that is definitely a nice perk, a mimosa, or a glass of champagne. For a second I just assumed they didn't have anything, but later in the appointment I saw other people get their drinks. The stylist was nice, but did not give me the look I wanted at first, she went more with the Cosmo, and I wanted the Cosmo Tai look, which is my go to look when I go to Drybar. The chair was all the way in the corner, and I couldn't see the mirror, so I was kind of blind to how my hair looked until it was finished. I was not asked if I wanted any volume (which I did) so I had to ask for it when she finished and i noticed that she used only 2 products in my hair, usually I see a lot more being used, one of them wasn't even a dry bar product. ( It was one of Moroccan Oil's leave in creme, which was odd). My appointment was at 4pm, and it is 8pm now and my curls didn't hold (which is a first everrrr), and I did tell her to use product so clearly she wasn't focused on me at all. (There was a lot of chatter near the front about getting to eat food that was delivered during my appointment. ) Happy birthday to me, $50.00 bucks later. -__- read more

Alli Webb, When the salon first opened the stylists and front desk were amazing. As time has progressed, dry bar legacy is slowly going down hill. For me this is strike three. I don't think I'll be back. My previous 2 appointments have been absolutely horrible! and after today's experience, I doubt I'll be back. The stylists I requested for today no longer work at the legacy location. So, once again I was assigned someone absolutely random. I decided to give it one last try. My experience is as follows: -Last two stylists have been unfriendly. -I wasn't asked if I wanted anything to drink. -While washing hair I thought I was going to get soaked Stylists were rough, pulled hair to the point of hurting, I got burned & knocked in the head with the hair dryer. Completely unacceptable. and lastly my hair did not turn out the way I wanted, it frizzed at the end of the day, Not worth 40.00. My recommendations: Maybe you need to make a personal visit to this salon location or send secret clients in to test them. Stylists need to be re-trained Front desk staff need a firm reminder they are the face to the salon I would also highly recommended to list stylists with their head shots on the website. I personally won't be back because i don't like rolling the dice, not knowing who i'm going to get and then losing with hair. Thanks read more

My experience was amazing! As soon as I walked in they greeted me and asked me what I wanted to drink, they give you complementary cocktails and snacks. Then you discuss what style you want and get your hair washed and a massage too. It took about an hour and I love the way my hair turned out! Can't wait to go back again. read more

Will not be going back. Stylist wasn't friendly and despite telling her once she used extremely hot burning water to wash my hair. Was pulling and tugging on my hair during blow dry. Aside from that, she didn't even ask me how I was, no chit chat. She seemed like she hated being there. I wasn't even offered anything, but everyone else was drinking water and mimosas. Now on to the hair....I asked for large curls with lots of volume....I didn't get that. Instead she gave me small, medium curls with NO volume, that fell flat within an hour of leaving. She did not give me what I asked for. There's a technique to blowouts. Any experiences stylist knows to blow dry in the opposite directions to give hair more volume. She barely used any product in my hair. I had to ask for more hairspray and even then my hair was flat by the time I reached home. The blow out definitely wasn't worth the $40. I wasted my money. I wish I could get it back. They need better, experienced stylists. read more

Being a regular at DryBar Dallas, I was a little underwhelmed by the Plano location. I've been to it a couple of times now and each time left just a little less than impressed. The last time I went I was supposed to have a "floater" - free with my membership and my shampoo was finished before the girl next to me (who was there when I sat down). I would have said something when I paid, but my friend who was with me paid for mine before I could address it. The style was great the last time I was there, but the two previous times, it felt a little rushed and just not as awesome as the experiences I've had at the Dallas location. Also, small pet peeve because I know it's free, but the last two times I've been there, they asked what I'd like to drink when I came in and I had to ask again later (after I came back from shampoo). This is one of those kind of guilty pleasures you feel somewhat ashamed to admit you really really really like...like the California Gurls video by Katy Perry... Anyway, I digress...I decided to stop in on a drizzly overcast Friday morning to get my hair shampooed & blow dried because I had some important meetings but WAY too much going on to take the time out to fix my own hair. Ok - the decor is SO cozy, clean, and cute. It reminded me a little of the Westin hotels. Some chipper gals behind iMacs checked me and brought me a coffee. To my surprise (totally a coffee snob) I found the coffee delightfully warm and drinkable. Because I'm getting closer to 40 and generally brain dead in the morning, I don't remember my stylists name. However, she was sweet and did a bang up job styling my hair. There was a large tv playing Miss Congeniality then Runaway Bride...and I found myself rather enjoying just getting lost in the moment under the dryer watching "chick flicks". I think $35 for an occasional indulgence or as prep for a special night on the town is a great price, and I plan to return as often I can. Another guilty pleasure, all the cheeky names & the general theme for the drybar...the menu, floaters, shots, uptinis, bartabs, regulars, etc. You expect to turn up your nose at such cloying sweetness...but it actually just makes you smile. I bought a Living Social deal to try this place so this could have gone in any direction. I went with a friend who had somewhere to go and I just went along to try it out. The salon felt clean and welcoming and not overly crowded at all. Despite other reviewers, my cosmo-tai lasted for two days. The body fell a little flat, but I liked the second day look just as much. We were offered wine while we were styled and had good conversation with the stylists. I really enjoyed the experience here and I look forward to returning! read more
