He's efficient, thorough, and incredibly talented--while still being quick, personable, and in high demand. This review is long overdue. It's always a pleasure visiting this location as well--it has a cozy, intimate feel that sets it apart from other Drybar spots, largely thanks to its smaller size. I have been wanting to try this place, I tried calling before and no one ever picked up. However, I just stopped in randomly, and made an appointment in person. That day, the person at the front was nice and helpful. I didn't know what to expect, since it was my first time. I was a little late. I didn't realize the traffic was going to be as bad as it was, however, I did call to let them know I was going to be late. There is a grace period but I didn't know how strict or not they were about it. I get to my appointment and right away, it's not a friendly and welcoming vibe. The person at the front (who was different than the one I had seen earlier the week before) and the person who worked on my hair seemed like they didn't want to be there at all and it showed. Bottom line - not worth it. I love treating and pampering myself, and this experience was quite frankly - awful. At times, it was actually painful because she just didn't care and was pulling my hair. I actually held my breath at times because I thought she was going to burn me with the hair tool. I was very disappointed with our experience at the Drybar location on Crenshaw Blvd. We arrived on time for our appointment, but still had to wait about 20 minutes before anyone saw us. The biggest issue was that the stylist told us my daughter had "big knots" in her hair and made it seem like it would be difficult to work with. When we got home, we brushed through her hair ourselves, and it took less than 8 minutes to remove the tangles. It felt like the situation was exaggerated instead of handled professionally. Overall, the long wait and the way my daughter's hair was discussed made the experience frustrating and disappointing. We expected better customer service and a more welcoming attitude, especially my teenage daughter and it was her birthday. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

Maybe they should have more than 1 or 2 stylists working if they have issues with people not showing up for work. I also got an email thanking me for cancelling. Before moving to the South Bay, I was a regular at the Pacific City Huntington Beach salon, so I definitely have some experience with Drybar as a whole. After that location closed (and I moved,) my Barfly Double membership transferred here. Overall, my experience at the Torrance location has been great. The stylists are super efficient, and the receptionists have always been kind and helpful. The quality and consistency are what keep me coming back. My only critique is their appointment confirmation system. Only allowing confirmations via email feels a bit outdated. There have been a handful of times when I didn't check my email the day before, forgot to confirm, and ended up losing my booking. A text confirmation option would be super helpful. Otherwise, I really enjoy coming here and appreciate the team and the service they provide. read more

Mine seemed very uncomfortable... like she's never done this before. It was $64 for a blow dry. Says it's a 45 mins appt roughly. She spent 30 mins on me and it looked terrrrrible. I don't even think my hair was washed all the way before dried it. I'll be re-doing my hair at home. Also wasn't very impressed with the shop considering how expensive it is. I decided to book an appointment at Drybar after not going for a few years. It was my birthday, so I figured I'd treat myself and scheduled a dry style. I didn't mention anything about a special occasion just booked the service as usual. When I arrived, I explained what I wanted, and my stylist kindly told me what she could do given that it was a dry style. No problem, I told her loose curls were perfectly fine. As she let my hair down, she said, "Oh, your hair is still wet. This would be a blowout." I touched the area she pointed out, and it was moist at most, not actually wet. She repeated that it would count as a blowout, which is a higher-priced service, so I asked if there was availability later in the day to come back. She checked and told me no. So I left. As I was walking out, I overheard someone telling my stylist she could clock out for the day. If she didn't want to do my hair, she could have been upfront about it rather than framing it as an issue with my service type. For context: I live 10 minutes away, and by the time I got home the "wet" section was already dry. It would've taken less than three minutes to fully dry. I know my hair, I do my own blowouts regularly but because of my scoliosis and since it was my birthday, I wanted to treat myself. Apparently, that was a mistake. read more

I was a member here and used to come 4 times a month but nearly every visit involved waiting 20 to 30 plus minutes past my appointment time. I eventually canceled my membership due to the constant delays but still went twice a month trying to support a small business. Even then delays persisted. One time they canceled while I was in the parking lot 15 minutes before my appointment saying no stylist was available. I had a conference to attend right after and was left scrambling. I didn't complain because I wanted to be understanding. Today I showed up 11 minutes late one minute past their grace period. The front desk woman was shockingly rude and dismissive. She refused to help and told me "I'm not going to help you if you're arguing with me." The manager echoed the same robotic response "You're one minute past we'll allow it this time but not again." Meanwhile they're often 30 plus minutes late without a word of apology. The double standard is appalling. Their attitude is entitled their customer service is insulting and the quality of blowouts is average at best. I left feeling stressed and disrespected. Never again. read more

There is nothing relaxing or welcoming about this Dry Bar. They don't do anything extra nice for customers, all they care about is money, money, money. Plus not all the stylist does a good job. Out of all the stylists only two do a good job. The energy is intense, they act as if they are doing you a favor. Plus the company just decided to go from $45 to $55 a month without any warning. I have about 8 blow outs left. If I cancel I have to use all of them with in certain time. I would love to go once a month but I can't get motivated due to their aloofness. Booked an appointment a week in advance for a blowout for family pictures that evening. I made my appointment at 2:45 which would give me plenty of time for my evening pictures I had scheduled. They called me right as I arrived in the parking lot and said they were running 25 minutes late. Annoying and frustrating. But they were actually 45 minutes late. I ended up leaving and going home and doing my own hair. I just wanted to look and feel good for my family pictures. I regret booking here. They don't even apologize. Unbelievable. I'll start by saying I have 4C Keratin treated hair. I was in a pinch after working thru my regular appointment with my hairstylist and decided to try out Dry Bar ( for the first time in ten years). The recent online reviews were daunting but I have to say I had a great experience. I called to make sure they had someone who could do textured hair, and we coordinated how much time the stylist would need (more then the standard 45 I said 1 to 1.5 hours would be good) I came in a little early, was seated early and Jillian did her THING. I was skeptical at first since some places say they can do all hair but Jillian did a fantastic job. My wash was thorough, she detangled in the bowl and sectioned off appropriately for my hair type when blow drying. My flat iron results are SILKY and my roots are straight. I came in for a dry style appointment with completely dry hair -- washed earlier that morning and blow-dried at home -- yet the staff insisted my hair was damp and tried to charge extra to re-dry it. This seems like a recurring issue and an unfair upsell tactic. The management and team were dismissive both times, and the overall customer service was unprofessional. Drybar often calls to cancel appointments last minute. On prom they ran hours late, today I get a call a stylist called in sick so my appointment is canceled at the time I scheduled 4 months ago. Knowing it's the busy holiday season, you'd think they'd learn and schedule a back up stylist, but no, they never learn. Canceling during a busy season when it's prom or for holiday parties is bad business. Telling me mine is canceled because I didn't request a specific stylist, even though I booked 4 months ago is ridiculous. It gets old. I had a very disappointing experience here. I scheduled my daughter's appointment for 2:45 for a dry styling(39$) but since we arrived early, 1:50pm I asked if she could be seen sooner. They said yes, so she was seated. Once in the chair, the stylist told me that because her hair was a little damp, the price would be a full blow out (64$). I assumed this meant she would be getting a wash and blow dry included--but then the stylist said she didn't have time to do that because of her schedule. At that point, I don't understand why I wasn't simply told, "Come back at 2:45 when her hair is dry." Instead, I was basically given no option, and then told I'd be charged more. What should have been $39 just for styling turned into a $69 "blowout," even though no shampoo was done and the "drying" took only a few seconds. My daughter didn't receive the full service that a blowout usually includes, yet I was still charged for it. The problem wasn't the money, it was the fact that I paid for a full service and non was rendered . The stylist was also dismissive and unprofessional which gave me bitchy mean girl vibes , which only made the experience worse. This girl clearly cares more about squeezing out money than making clients feel taken care of. There's a reason they have such low reviews. Whatever keep the money, she need it more than I do . DO NOT GO HERE. I am a member and get a blowout once a week. I went there on Thursday and received the WORST blowout you could imagine. My extensions were not curled/blended, and she put so much product in my hair, it matted. The manager Julie is absolutely awful and won't even return my call about the service, and the receptionist, Mia, is extremely unprofessional/disrespectful. The worst part is I spent $40 to Uber back and forth to this Drybar because I live in Miami, and they could care less. Pathetic stylist, awful CS, and just downright robbery. read more

I normally do my hair myself but recently had surgery on my hand and can not get the bandages wet. So I figured I'd give this Drybar location a try. I booked an appointment just one day in advance. I was surprised and thankful that they had availability considering the upcoming holiday. I was greeted immediately upon walking through the door and the staff was friendly. Christian did my hair and did a very good job. I have naturally very curly hair and he handled it like a pro. From the shampoo bowl to the finishing spray was just about 50 minutes. He used a boar bristle brush and I actually told him that was the gentlest blow out I've ever had. He didn't pull at my hair or hurt me at all. AndI love the final result. I got my hair done by Ashley on May 14th. She did such an amazing job with my hair. I was SO happy with how it turned out. I had to get my hair done for acting Headshots I had done that same day by Michael Roud Photography. I will be doing a review on him when I get them back but she really made my hair sleek and very shiny! I absolutely adore Drybar and might start the monthly membership! Yes they are just that good! Whenever I come here, I just feel so rejuvenated and like a whole new Me! These girls just make it looks so easy and it's incredible watching them transform your messy locks into a beautiful dream! I was totally mesmerized even having gotten very little sleep it was worth it because I looked heavenly in my pictures and I could never have done it like this myself so I owe so much to you Ashley and girls at Drybar! I went to Drybar for the first time over the weekend. I had washed my hair and partially dried it. The hair stylist didn't tell me if she blow dry my hair it will cost me double the cost of just a style. I should have been charged $35 . They didn't wash my hair, I was there 20 minutes maximum and they only used hairspray on me. I paid $80 with tip. For a hairstyle that only lasted 2 hours. Before the event my best friend had to fix my hair again. When I called to talk to manager about the cost , she said "if the blow dryer comes out that's the cost". Needless to say I won't be back. Last minute, I received a voicemail from the receptionist, Mia, that they can only do a dry style. I was rightfully frustrated, but then was told to "calm down" by the manager, Julie Thorpe, who said, "We will accommodate you this time." When I asked her what she meant by "this time", she said, "You can't come in "screaming" at my receptionist." I was not screaming, but I was also not happy. Seems they cannot tolerate a woman being anything but sunshine and rainbows when they decide to cancel/change your appointment due to staffing issues. I asked how they came to choose me to cancel on; they said it was because of the stylist assigned to me... not by when people actually booked their appointments. I had booked this appointment months ago. It's a shame, because I am (was) a monthly member there. The customer service is garbage; this is not a reflection of the stylists. The stylists are always great. But this is not the first time I've felt their front desk staff were condescending, rude, and unhappy to be there. I've kept my mouth shut for a while about the poor customer service, but I'm absolutely done. The management needs to understand that blowouts are luxury experiences. They are not everyday essential experiences, and given this economy, they should be doing everything in their power to hang on to their customers. Went here for the first time yesterday and asked to have my hair curled and pinned up so they could set better while I drove to my photo shoot. Stylist convinced me to curl my hair with a straightener. I left looking like MESS but hoped when I un-pinned my hair it would fall into nice Curls. I was horrified my hair is so BURT. The last inch of my hair was burned straight and the curls were wild. I have done two conditioning treatments and now about to drive to sallies in a panic as my hair just feels so awful and dry. I JUST had a hair cut. I noticed steam coming from the back as she curled my hair but didn't think my hair was BURNING. I called twice and left a voicemail. No call back :/ read more
