Again, service was terrible. They took an hour and a 1/2. I missed family photos for my moms 60th birthday- huge bummer. They don't really engage. Very stingy with the cheap champs. Made my friend feel badly about her request. They expose the client to way too much and take too much time complaining about what they can't do vs just being proactive and finding a solution. We're not difficult people but we do expect good service. At the end of the day, I am beginning to think DryBar may have gotten too big to maintain the quality they were once known for. The ONLY DryBar I have received a quality experience at in the past 5 months is the flatiron in NY. Other than that they always leaving something to desired. More times than not it's usually a better customer service experience. Train your people! Have higher expectations! In the end, my hair looked pretty good but was still super disappointed that it took 1.5 hours and my friend left really upset, spent too much money and didn't like her hair. Ugh. I'm a long-time customer of Drybar, frequenting many different locations across the US, and Walnut Creek is my favorite. The salon is brand new and is by far one of the cleanest and most comfortable I've visited (see my review for the location on Kearny; spoiler alert, it needs a facelift ASAP). Jaime and Jordan are my go-to girls. I recommend either of them to anyone who has thick hair that can be difficult to style. My blowout usually lasts up to three days with some minor touch-ups here and there, and it's not for the faint of heart! (I've now seen Jaime twice and Jordan three times, so trust me on this one). Props to all of the staff here though; everyone I've interacted with is super friendly (and eager to offer champagne or wine!). Love Drybar WC! read more

Updating to say that consistently, this Dry Bar is where I've gotten the best blow outs. I got a great styling done by Ashley the other day. And, the wait times seem to be much shorter now that the location has been open a while. Only had to wait 5 minutes or so and was in and out in about 1:15. I'm a fan of Drybar products and wanted to give the salon a chance. The reviews were discouraging and I was definitely hesitant. The front staff was very welcoming and kind and even checked in with me a few other times during my appointment. I noticed this same professional behavior with the other clients. My stylist was quite young and seemed very shy and unsure of herself. Even when styling my hair, she touched it so gently that I was curious if she was actually getting to the roots. My only complaint would be that for the cost, I would like a stylist with more experience. Or have different rates based on their experience. My hair looks nice but nothing exceptional. read more

A very, very bad salon with a lot of incompetence at every level! I went there every week for many months. Some times, my hair came out okay, other times, my hair had products in it that left a film in my hair and my blow out wouldn't even last the day. A lot of quality inconsistency .The worst part of the experience was that before I left the salon during each visit, I would book my next appointment. Three times, my appointment was not booked. The third time, they could not re-book my appointment as they were booked out. No apologies. No nothing. Since it was a Saturday, it was impossible for me to get another appointment during the Christmas holidays. If you miss an appointment, they charge $20.00. If they don't book you, you are shit out of luck. Moved on. They lost a good customer! read more

Drybar is based on one product - ON E- blow outs. If they do not get that right, everything else is worthless. $45 and 45 minutes wasted. My hair looks, feels and smells worse than when I walked in. Completely weighed down in product, no shine and a bit ratty looking - not smooth and the only volume came from what looked like body created through snarls in the back of my head. I requested the straight style with body - it is a mess. I had requested Natalia because she had done a phenomenal job last week - which is why I went back. I was even contemplating making it a regular thing - weekly. I came home, washed the gunk out of my hair and dried it myself. It looks good - not as good as when Natalia styled it, but I cannot take the chance of having random stylists doing whatever to my hair. In my disappointment when I tried to call the salon itself, my call was sent directly to a call center who were unable to resolve anything. So after 2 visits - I conclude that this location is a crap shoot - you may get a great stylist or maybe not. The reviews on yelp reflect this perfectly - some are 5 stars and others are 1-2. If I had rated this location after my first blow-out I probably would have given it 5 stars. But without the ability to designate a stylist - I cannot afford the time wasted - 45 minute blow-out, trip to and from, followed by a shower and self-styling. If you do go - build in extra time in your schedule before you do anything important cuz you may be redoing it yourself. read more

They inaccurately billed my service, and confused my account with someone else's. I ended up getting emailed a receipt for 2 blowout services & 2 add-ons when I only had one $55 blowout and no add-ons. They explained to me that I only paid for one service, I just received someone else's receipt. However, they charged me for one $55 blowout and one $15 add-on. I went back and talked to them in person; they said they'd issue a refund and they didn't. Then after multiple attempts to call, someone finally called back and said they processed a refund. I had to INSIST they send me a receipt of the transaction, and they did. They had my correct card on file, but still had the wrong person's name on my account. (Also-- is my credit card now linked to some random stranger?!) They told me to wait 8-10 business days for the refund to go through. It's been a month-- still no refund, even though they sent a "receipt" of the transition. WHAT A SCAM. read more

Had my hair done yesterday by Jordan and it turned out beautiful. All the girls here are great! They are friendly and efficient and will always try to get you out as soon as possible. There are complimentary drinks available while you get your hair done and great movies to watch for entertainment. If you find yourself coming here more than 2x a month, get the membership. This was really disappointing experience. When our group arrived I explained to the (still eating, less than enthusiastic) stylist that my hair doesn't hold curls or volume very well - but I was really excited to try this. She pointed to the look book and told me to "pick something." I asked if I should just do a braid or something since my hair isn't the greatest for hold. She said "I'll try curls." This was the most conversation we had the whole hour. First - a wash (while I listened to the other stylists ask about temperature, conditioner, etc.) then back to the chair. I sat there getting my hair (and earrings) brushed out while the others in our party were being asked about product, normal style and having basic small talk. I tried to make jokes about the earrings, my fine hair, the.curling irons....nothing. Another employee walked by and happened to ask if I'd like something to drink. Roughly 45 minutes later I had zero volume and curls at the bottom of my hair which smelled strongly like an elderly man's cologne. Our group walked across the street for lunch and by the time we left lunch - curls were completely gone, the smell not so much. I got home and washed my hair immediately - this seemed to make it worse. Now it smelled like a perm. Twice more - nothing. I called my regular cosmo who asked what was used; since I had zero interaction with the stylist and everything was on a tray on the counter, I had no clue what she put in my hair. She recommended trying a clarifying shampoo (she actually told me to go right back there and make them try to get the awful smell out but I don't have much faith left at this point.) Clarifying shampoo hasn't yet completely removed the smell either but I'm hopeful to have whatever is in my hair out soon. I am not unrealistic, I know the limitations of my own hair. But I thought this would be a fun experience, even if I left with my hair in a braid! This was uncomfortable and has caused more work for absolutely zero result than I imagined possible. I gave this 2 stars because one of the people in our group had a very nice experience and loved her hair. The rest of us certainly won't be back and wouldn't recommend this to anyone - ever. read more

The stylist was able to work magic with my fine hair that never holds a curl. Love the Drybar in Westlake Village. Wouldn't visit their sister salon in Walnut Creek again. Made what seems to be a common out-of-towner mistake and went to the Blow Dry Bar down the street. Scooted over to Drybar (where my appointment actually was!) just as quickly as I could. Receptionist confirmed they could fit me in when I arrived. Waited 15 minutes before being told they couldn't fit me in after all. Fortunately the Blow Dry Bar graciously offered to fit me in without an appointment! So I went to dry bar before never had that bad of an experience maybe a little impersonal but nothing bad. I took my sister there and wee our service and hair stylist were nice and talkative. We bought some products at the end was charged. I gave them a gift card didn't pay too much attention. Only to get home and look at my receipt they emailed me and they neveer applied the gift card! How was that even possible cashier even confirmed the gift card amount to me. So annoying. And when you call the store you speak to some rando who doesn't even work in the location. First question they asked was if I had the gift card! Of course not they took it from me, why would I keep an employee empty gift card! Now I'm playing the waitIng game. This was my first time at a drybar in general and I was very disappointed. The concept of the place is great, but the results of my blowout were terrible. I came here to get my hair done before my medschool gala and I wanted big curls with a lot of volume. Normally, I do my own hair for these types of events and I curl my hair regularly but I wanted something a little different. I got to drybar at my scheduled appt time and was not taken until 15 minutes later and the appointment took an hour and 15 minutes, not the 45 that they advertised. When I left my hair was okay. It was not what I had asked for and was only curled at the ends. Because the appointment ran late, I didn't even have time to ask the girl to fix it because it would have taken her forever and I was already running too late. After only my 20 minute drive, I got home and my hair was pin straight, with not a single curl. I had to redo the entire thing myself and therefore was even more late for my event. My hair looked way worse than if I had just done it myself. This was the biggest waste of 50 dollars. I also was really disappointed in the manner of my hairstylist. She seemed like she was in a terrible mood and did not want to talk at all. I don't think she would have said one word to me had I not asked her questions or tried to talk to her. And even then she only answered with one word answers. I felt like she just wanted to do my hair and go home. This being my first time getting this done, I was really excited and I feel like she made the atmosphere uncomfortable for me. I also requested to sit next to my friend with an appointment at the same time and we were sat on opposite sides of the center wall so that we couldn't even see each other. The customer service at Drybar in Walnut Creek really stinks. I booked an updo for a Saturday gala and when I sat down they said they didn't have time to do it because of prom season. I even put a note in my online booking that specifically said it was for an updo. I was so mad that I opted to leave. Of course, they charged me a cancellation fee. Take my advice and do not use Dry Bar Walnut Creek's services for an important event. I was visiting for my 20 year high school reunion Oct. 7th. We have Dry Bar in Atlanta so I felt most comfortable using their services for a blow out for the big event. I arrived at 1 pm and they told me they could schedule me at 4:30. I told the gal at the front desk that was going to be a little tight in getting me back to Oakland in time for the event at 7 but she assured me that there would be no delays and it would take 40 minutes. I proceeded to kill some time walking around. I arrived a few minutes late and there were 5 ladies ahead of me all with 4:30 appointments. I patiently waited until 5:15 and finally went to the front desk when I realized that only one of the ladies who had a 4:30 had been sat and there were 4 more ahead of me. I told the young lady that this was a very important event for me and that I am friends with one of the Dry Bar investors. Could she please squeeze me in. She said they were very short staffed and several employees called out and would ask her manager if she could take me. The manager refused to help me or even come out of her office and speak with me. I was almost in tears bc now it was 5:30, had to drive 40 minutes back to the hotel, shower, blow dry my own hair and do makeup all with less than hour. It was so upsetting and I was almost an hour late for the event. What upsets me the most is that if all of these employees called out than why would they even schedule me at 4:30. They could have also called me before my appointment to give me a warning they were running over an hour behind schedule. At least then I could have found a different salon or had more time to get ready. Very disappointed in this location and have NEVER had a bad experience in the Buckhead or Avalon locations in Georgia. I will definitely be providing feedback to my friend/ DB Stakeholder the next time I see him. read more

I've given this location three chances and I just have to give up and be done with it. The stress of "how late is my appt going to start" to "how rude is the front desk going to be" is just not worth it. I will say, all three times I've walked out very happy with my actual hair- it's everything else that's awful. For the price point, you're clearly paying for the experience and it's lacking. I'll outline my recent appt., Saturday 10/26. Note, I was in the week before and confirmed with the front desk that I had a "birthday credit" with my membership and she explained it could be used within 5 days of my birthday. Great! Bday was the 25th... Arrived and immediately picked up the energy of two women waiting that were clearly getting inpatient. Oh great I thought- they're running late. Checked in. The front desk person got my name and said "ok you can sit down" ... no offer for water/coffee/etc. To my surprise, appt started only 5 min late- totally fine and I was very relieved (a few weeks back it was 30 min with no communication or apology). Wash was good, stylist nice and hair end result was what I wanted. However it was awkward when the front desk associate kept approaching stylists and asking "how much longer" and making both the stylist and person in the chair feel uncomfortable. So blowout is done and I go to the front desk to check out and that's when everything really spirals. I inform her I'm using my birthday credit and she says she "doesn't see it" ... and then offers no more information. Okkkk. I ask if she can confirm my membership and tell her my birthday was the day before and ask for suggestions to how to get the credit. She tells me I need "to call". Um what? Call who? Completely confused because this is the same salon that sold me the "membership" and birthday perk. She tells me to google Drybar and call the number that pops up. I ask if she can call and she says they don't have phones. So I get my phone out and call.... this is the worst customer service I've ever encountered but what can I do. Corporate picks up quick, verifies my membership and asks to speak with the salon associate. I hand the phone over and the girl says "hold on" and WALKS AWAY... comes back 2 min later as I'm standing up front with her corporate office on the line waiting (the one she told me to call). She gets on the phone, rolling her eyes the entire time and was combative with the person on the other end. She's on speaker so it's increasingly uncomfortable but end result is the corporate person confirmed my credit and told her how to process. OK- over, right? Nope. So she hangs up my phone and then says I need to wait for their system to update. I ask why I need to wait if she just confirmed all the information and she said she just wanted to make sure the computer updates. I'm sorry, how is that my problem or a reasonable request of my time? I already fixed the issue myself and now am being asked to blindly wait. No thank you, not waiting and definitely not coming back. I'd love to have a conversation with their manager because I'm honestly horrified by who they have representing their business at the front desk but there's no phones and I'm not going back so that's limiting. The sad part about all of this is I think they have some very good stylists but the rest of the business needs help. If the manager is reading this, the young blonde working 3:30-5 pm at the front desk on Saturday 10/26 is flat out rude, immature and I'm sure costing you more business than just me. Hopefully you can use this case study and a teaching opportunity for her. read more

This was my first Drybar experience after my close friends raving about the chain. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. My stylist was really friendly and I'm sure super talented but there was a miscommunication somehow when I asked for my bangs to be blow dried to the side. Instead they were blow dried right in the middle of my face which made no sense because I obviously couldn't see anything through my bangs... I had to go home and fix them myself before my gala event. I asked for the "cosmo" but it didn't come out like the picture at all and the curls didn't last even until dinner, which was 30 minutes later. The stylist here are great at what they do, the decor is beautiful but the appointment making process and wait time is horrendous. There is no landline so you will never be able to call the shop. All appointments are made online (or walk in) and must be paid in full when booked. There is an 800 number that is outsourced with operators that are hard to understand and not helpful. read more

I went into dry bar with such high expectations! My friend is a member and goes all the time. I am a teacher, so this is a special treat that I saved up for. I waited a long time past my appointment time before I was seen. I had great communication and interaction with the stylist. And she used the strongest hold spray too. However my style had fallen out before I even got home. The next day, i couldn't even tell that my hair had been styled at all! What did I do wrong?! This was probably the worst Drybar experience I've had. Like other reviewers, I arrived and there was no hostess or greeting. A couple of minutes later, she came out and was cold but checked me in. There was no offer for any coffee/tea/water/wine, and I noticed that another guest had a glass of champagne. Eight minutes after my dry styling appointment time (a 20-25 min service), the hostess politely apologized for the delay and says it will just be 5 mins longer. A full 32 mins after my appointment start time, my stylist Jordan starts my service. She was friendly enough but didn't make any small talk and also didn't apologize for the delay. 12 mins later, she finishes curling my hair and shows me what she's done. It wasn't great - maybe she was rushed for time but it was worse than what I could do at home, and I'm a total novice. She didn't add any volume to the top and just did the bare minimum. I do think that if I had asked, she would have tried to fix it, but at this point, we were so late and it just wasn't a great experience. When I checked out, the hostess did apologize again but said that everything was fine because it was such a short appointment anyway. Sigh - she just really didn't get it. The solution to being super late in my book isn't to double down and half ass the job. I asked if they discontinued the drink service (as I noticed this wasn't offered the last 3 times I've been at Drybar in different locations), and she said no, they just ran out of all coffee and all tea (wtf). A simple acknowledgement would have made the whole interaction go a long way. Maybe she could have offered some water when I was waiting so long. I have noticed a substantial decline in quality with Drybar, which seems to coincide with their move to have all phone calls routed now to corporate - not sure if this is a sign that the company isn't doing so well or what. Very happy that Drybar is finally in Walnut Creek. I love how easy it is to book an appointment online. When I arrived they took me back right at my appointment time and I was finished in an hour! This is pretty impressive given the fact that I already had thick, long hair but also because I'm currently pregnant so my hair has been thicker than usual and typically takes me longer than an hour to do myself. My hair does hold a curl well and so far my blowout has lasted 4 days so I'm happy. read more

Wait and wait some more I called and booked an appointment over the phone. I was threatened that if I was late I could lose my appointment and be charged $20. I assured them I would be on time. I was told I had to leave a credit card number to be used in case I didn't show up. My appointment was for 4:30 and I walked in the door at 4:15. It took at least 10 minutes to get to the receptionist at the front desk because of the people crowding around. No one acknowledged me or said "will be right with you" while I waited. Finally I was able to check in and was told they were running late. My husband drove me since my hand was in a cast and I couldn't drive. When I asked what time he should pick me up I was told "it'll be at least an hour" with no apology given. I was asked if I would like something to drink and I said I'd love a glass of champagne if they are pouring that. The receptionist said sure and proceeded to forget about me for over 10 minutes. When I reminded her about the champagne she brought it to me. Finally after waiting for an hour I asked how much longer it would be and I was told there were three people in front of me!! All of them had waited more than an hour so far! My husband's patience was used up and I had to leave with my undone hair that I am able to do myself with one hand. I was told I would not be charged. Gosh thanks. Maybe a discount coupon for another try would be a better offer. Lots of good places around. Try someplace else!! read more

I was using Drybar at least twice a week while leaving in a different area and they were amazing. This location, however, is horrific. I have now gone there three times, giving the benefit of the doubt, but all three times my stylists were behind and unskilled. The last two times receptionist, who happened to be a stylist as well, had to step in to save the day. Simple mid-length blowout mind you. Seems she is the only one who can do the job. I was so excited to be the "client" for once, being that I do hair. I walked in and no one greeted me. So I asked for a menu and availablity. Then had to ask if I can make an appointment. It was like pulling teeth. Mind you I was also offered nothing. So I sat for my appointment. A group of older ladies walked in and were greeted, and offered champagne immediately. Finally got my blow out. My stylist was really nice and did a great job. When I asked her about serving champagne, she said oh you didn't want any? And I told her no I was never offered. She then asked the manager if she could grab me a glass and the manager right away rudely asked for my ID.
