In my replies, I thoroughly explained the problem: "Samsung dishwasher not cleaning properly, leaving small debris specks. No grinder, filter and spray arms already cleaned. Suspected drain or recirculation issue. Dishwasher age: 5-10 years. No error codes displayed." He offered to arrive the next day (a Saturday), but I requested the following Monday. His fee to diagnose would be $70, which would be waived if I used his services for any needed repairs. He gave me a two-hour arrival window, and he arrived within that window, dressed professionally. That's where the good ends. He proceeds to get to work. He ran a cycle and periodically interrupted the cycle to make sure the dishwasher was working. He then finishes and tells me, "it works. I don't see anything wrong with it. If you want, I can replace the sump pump but its expensive, around $550." Note that this does not address the reason I hired him in the first place. I KNOW that the dishwasher operates, it's just not operating very well. He does not explain what a sump pump is or does, nor does he address the specks of debris left over on my glassware after the cycle ends. I ask about this, and he literally said, "that's weird. I don't know," then he reminded me that the diagnosis fee was $70 and took out his phone so I could pay him. It was apparent from the moment he arrived that he did not give a shit about this particular job. I'm pretty confident he wanted to be in and out quickly so he could collect his $70 and be on his way. Me? Oh I'm left with a dishwasher that still doesn't clean well, but for $70, I was given the professional opinion that "it works". Two stars only because he didn't literally slap me across the face.
