He also asked about my review and apologized for both the issue with the price being higher than expected as well as the dirt left in my laundry room. My stovetop being a little "dated", presented a problem when the technician, Max, attempted to fix a burner ignition problem requiring him to return 2 more times after the initial diagnostic. Max fixed it with a little creativity and a lot of know how, and it works great! And he didn't charge me extra for such a difficult job. During the initial visit, Max found out that our Oven ignition was broken and needed to be replaced and that he needed to order the part, he also found out that our gas line had a leak. We have issues with our fridge and Max came out same day quoted us explaining everything in detail. They ordered a part and came out when they said they would. Unfortunately our fridge needs more work and won't be worth the money to repair but they were honest, gave us options and ultimately gave us a refund on the part. Everything started out good. Wertax was the first business to reply to my Yelp project, and his replies were professional. In my replies, I thoroughly explained the problem: "Samsung dishwasher not cleaning properly, leaving small debris specks. No grinder, filter and spray arms already cleaned. Suspected drain or recirculation issue. Dishwasher age: 5-10 years. No error codes displayed." He offered to arrive the next day (a Saturday), but I requested the following Monday. His fee to diagnose would be $70, which would be waived if I used his services for any needed repairs. He gave me a two-hour arrival window, and he arrived within that window, dressed professionally. That's where the good ends. He proceeds to get to work. He ran a cycle and periodically interrupted the cycle to make sure the dishwasher was working. He then finishes and tells me, "it works. I don't see anything wrong with it. If you want, I can replace the sump pump but its expensive, around $550." Note that this does not address the reason I hired him in the first place. I KNOW that the dishwasher operates, it's just not operating very well. He does not explain what a sump pump is or does, nor does he address the specks of debris left over on my glassware after the cycle ends. I ask about this, and he literally said, "that's weird. I don't know," then he reminded me that the diagnosis fee was $70 and took out his phone so I could pay him. It was apparent from the moment he arrived that he did not give a shit about this particular job. I'm pretty confident he wanted to be in and out quickly so he could collect his $70 and be on his way. Me? Oh I'm left with a dishwasher that still doesn't clean well, but for $70, I was given the professional opinion that "it works". And then there were some electrical issues after it was reinstalled, but they came back and took the time to work through it until it was fixed, without charging anything additional.
