Let me start by saying the owner of DS Locksmith was very nice and called me back to make sure a locksmith had contacted me. However, that doesn't make up for $65 I was charged over the quote I was given and the hour long wait. I was quoted $85 to unlock my apartment door. When the locksmith got there an hour later he told it would cost $150. All he did was put a key into my lock and hammer it in until it opened. The process took 3 minutes. There was no drilling. There's no way that costs $150. He claimed it starts at $85 and different locks cost more. This was a regular Kwikset door knob lock! That should be the standard! I didn't make a fuss and just accepted the extra charge because I refused to be locked out of my house any longer. I feel duped. I called several other locksmiths and was quoted $95 so I though I was getting a deal. I called the owner after the locksmith left and no one answered. I won't use this service again. read more

This is the oddest review I've ever written: After buying an Angie's List coupon and having this company come out, I initially gave it the lowest rating both on Angie's List and Yelp, because although the owner, Daniel, was extremely nice on the phone, the guy that actually came out was thoroughly unprofessional, and left most of work undone. When Daniel found out about the reviews, he contacted me immediately. He was extremely apologetic - and upset - about the locksmith who came out, saying that this was the very first time he had used this guy, and unequivocally agreeing that what I experienced was unprofessional. Not only did Daniel refund my money and say he would cease working with that locksmith, I could tell he was personally grieved and would do whatever it took to right the situation. He had a very strong pride of ownership. Apparently, Daniel has gotten so popular due to his professionalism that he had to hire someone else to do some of the work - and what I can say? - I know firsthand that sometimes you just get a bad apple. What counts is that Daniel took full responsibility, and the very best action that any business owner could take towards satisfying a customer.
