My friend recommended me to this salon. I live in Miami but always come for a visit to NYC since I have family here. I was hesitate at first to let anyone else cut my hair. I was bored with the way my hair stylist in Miami was cutting my hair so I called DS Studio and they were so helpful and could not be more nice. I walked from my friends apt from 62'nd and 3'rd to 79th street between Park/Madison where the salon is located. I walked downstairs to a beautiful brownstone and was met by a very friendly staff who greeted me. I could not be more impressed. I met this pretty woman with long curly dark hair named Savita, salon owner and hair stylist. She was AMAZING. She made me feel so comfortable since I was a bit nervous. She took my coat and offered me a drink. She sat me down in the chair and explained to me in depth how she was going to cut my hair. Then she walked me in the back and I was given the ultimate hair wash by one of her staff.. He was so gentle with washing my hair since I have long hair. He gave me a great scalp massage too! He walked me back to Savita where I experienced first hand the BEST hair cut I had ever got. After the blow dry (which took her no time) I was out looking like some model in a fashion magazine. I left leaving with a big smile and some goodies I had bought for my hair. All in all I had a GRRREAT experience from the staff to stylists. Oh, and shhhh...rumor has it, Savita's client list includes top Celebrities, models, and a recent Presidential figure and his family. I am coming back to try the Organic Keratin treatment. I have followed Savita from salon to salon! Why? Because she makes me look like a superstar with ongoing maintenance of my long, blond layered hair. I cannot imagine ever letting anyone else touch my hair. Harold does my highlights and color now and is totally communicative about my needs at different times of year (post beach vacation in Fire Island: low lights, dead of winter: highlights etc!). Love his work so far. Finally, a blowout and styling by beautiful Savita when I just need hair therapy and can't be bothered, I walk out feeling like a Goddess! They wait on you hand and foot,: hot tea, cappuccino, order in food when I come in at lunch time. All the new line of products are top notch and organic. In the summer, the team sets up out in the Hamptons and Dimitry will come and do blow out for my tribe of female coworkers in our home! What's better than that? Plenty of meter parking on the upper east and if your meter runs out, they pop out and refill for you (note it helps if you remember where you parked!) I work in Chelsea and live out in Forest HIlls but I make the trip any time I need it - worth every penny and prices are very competitive considering it's Park + 79th. It's a precious gem of a boutique salon where you get treated like the top client every time. Try the new hair washing chars. Like a bed where you are flat out with head support and comfort - no neck crunch! I will never leave this place as long as I have hair on my head!!!!!!!!!! read more

After a great run in central park I walked down 79th street. I came across a salon located in a brownstone. I walked downstairs and asked if they took walk ins since it looked like it was a salon by appt only. They told me they did and was really nice to me. I was not expecting to get my hair blown out until I met with Demetris who I later found out was one of the owners. Not only was he nice and good looking but he convinced me that he can get my kinky, frizzy hair straight. He was finishing up with a woman client who just got the Organic keratin treatment. Her hair looked great so I was sold! He offered me a deep conditioning or keratin treatment - I chose the deep conditioning first since I did not have a lot of time to spend with the Keratin. I understand with the Keratin, it is a longer process. He spent some time massaging my scalp while my hair dried in a plastic cap under a cool looking dryer. I was treated like a Queen. I couldn't believe it! All for a conditioning treatment and blow dry. My hair looked great when he was done. It was so straight and smooth. It lasted 6 days! I was so happy! I would recommened this place to anyone. Trust me I am picky who does my hair but for some reason I had confidence in this place when I first walked in. The vibe was inviting. For some people, it might be a bit pricey but believe me all worth the money and I don't usually rate anything 5 stars! read more

The second you walk into the salon you are immediately greeted with a comfortable, professional atmosphere. Unlike other salons in the city, DS Studio is less overwhelming in size and the staff get to know you on a personal level which is rare to find in the salon world of NYC. Danielle did my color and I have never been happier. It was jet black when I came in. Most salons would say going blonde in one day would not be possible. In five hours I had beautiful, vibrant blonde hair. My hair looks healthy and glossy, I honestly can't believe she was able to take it from BLACK to bright blonde!! You will never find a colorist as good as Danielle. She is the best of the best. Savita did my cut. She was so professional and fun to talk to. She has worked with numerous celebrities and leaves you feeling like a million bucks when you walk out of the salon! I have a super short pixie cut. When I came in it looked dull and lifeless. Savita made it young and hip and edgy which was exactly what I wanted! You cannot go wrong with this salon. They are amazing! They really take care of you, providing haircare and service that leave you feeling like a celebrity or royalty. DS Studio is a very welcoming salon, everyone that works there are very nice and helpful, they cater to you head to toe, from they're amazing cappuccino to they're hair-cuts/blow dry are like no other, the way the Stylist layers the hair it just makes the hair so volumized and full again, the thing I love most are the hair products I love that they only use organic EVERYTHING, from organic Volumizing spray, which by the way makes your hair very volumized and big, they also have they're own greek oil treatment and I love it because unlike other oils it does not make my hair greasy or oily, it does the job just right by bringing the shine back to my hair. The stylist I would recommend are Savita or Demitri both very great.And the colorist both Harold and Samantha are so great at what they do by coloring your hair as if you never colored it before. they both make the color look so natural by blending it very well with your hair so if your going for a beach blonde or a rich shiny dark color I wouldn't recommend no other place. Over all i love this salon because everything works well with my hair, i have slightly thin oily hair and after coming here using they're products it just made my hair better. I set up an appointment with DS Studio not too long ago and I am very happy with what was done to my hair. When I walked into the salon I had a yellow, brassy-orange, copperish color that I did not want. (The hairstylist I had previously gone to, not from DS, had tried to make me blonde and totally failed.) After a very professional and genuine hair consultation with Harold, the Color Specialist, I was ready to have a healthy look to my hair and remove the color I wasn't content this. He was so focused on making me happy with my hair and pretty! Harold honestly worked wonders; I did not think my hair would've turned out the way it did. I was suggested to go back to dark brown with light brown/blonde highlights to then go a little lighter, to then eventually have the color I ultimate want. He kept streaks of the color I already had, but gave me dark brown lowlights. So the yellow, brassy-orange, copperish color actually looked light brown/blonde ...all with a single process; I loved it! I am definitely going back to DS for a follow up. I know Harold will give me the look I am looking for. Everyone in the studio was so nice and attentive. When it comes to haircare I'm extremely picky about who I can trust to deliver the results I need. I came across DS Studio on the upper east side and was blown away! Their service was impeccable. When checking in I was kindly greeted by the staff who then followed to provide me a nice cup of tea. I was able to talk with my stylist about my desired look and she understood exactly what I had in mind. The entire process was extremely relaxing and smooth. The staff was very attentive and made me feel comfortable from check in to check out. I would absolutely recommend this salon to those who desire high end, quality hair care and customer service! Last week I went to get my hair done at DS Studio. It was my first time there, since I had just moved to the city and needed to find a new salon. I found their website online and was immediately interested because it looked professional and elegant. I came to get a cut and blow out done by one of the owners, Dimitrios. From the second I walked in, the staff was friendly and helpful and treated me with the upmost respect. I was offered a drink, a magazine to read, and the atmosphere was relaxing. I am picky about my hair cuts but Dimitrios cut it beautifully, and then finished with a blow out and some curls. My hair looked stunning and healthy, and the price was well worth the service. I will definitely be returning to DS Studio to get my hair done, and maybe next time by the other owner, Savita. Their passion for what they do really shows, and I love that. read more

If I could give this salon 1000 stars I would. I went for the first time to Ds Studios about 2 weeks ago because I saw Demitris work off social Media , which is not like me at all but all his pictures of other peoples hair looked really good. When I walked in with my mom he was nothing but very sweet. professional and the most awesome person to talk to. Made us feel like we've been going there for 20 years. I have a lot of hair and it's very curly so I told him I don't let people cut my hair because of a bad experience, so this was a big step for me. By the time we were done I was so in love with my new hair. The blow out even stayed for 3 days which has never happened in my life. Ever since everywhere I go whether it be dinner with my boyfriend or out with friends I always get a compliment. I can't wait to come back. read more

A Must go !!! I stopped by to get some services done for my daughters Sweet 16 and i must say we were treated wonderfully from the moment we walked through the door. We received up dos from the wonderful owners Savita and Demetri. We all got manis and pedis from Rosario. and our makeup was done by the amazing artist Diego. We weren't rushed and they accommodated all of our needs accordingly. I recommend you visit if you have an event or a holiday or even just for a quick wash and blow. Samantha Viguie, the salon's color director, brings her expertise from her years at Coppola, as well as the most incredible background in organic color and hair health from her experience at JF Lazartigue in Paris and NY. (yes, I was impressed, and the results of her work are proof enough) She does color like no other, understanding ranges, oxidation, restoration and correction. I came to DS Studio for an emergency Cut, Blowout, and Manicure. I explained how I wanted my hair cut (I have curly hair which is very difficult to cut and style properly without it poofing!) Thankfully, Demetrios worked wonders, styling and shaping my hair directly to my needs. not a single split end- NOT ONE- was visible for weeks afterwards. After I explained how I was pressed for time, the studio was very accommodating, doing my blowout and manicure at the same time! I Love DS Studio, one of the best places to pamper your self. I am a guy but i love my shampoos there! ( i can have one for hours). Talk about Happy Make-Over! Sitting in Dimitris chair under his care was like going thru surgery, without any invasive procedures. Aside, from the fabulous sun-kissed look he gave my hair... Peeking over at all the different style scissors he used, to provide my curly hair with a sheek cut. I felt like I was the canvas to a master painting with the artist exercising his craft.. This salon did wonders for my very coarse brittle hair. I've had many keratin treatments but the owner at DS studio makes his own formula and there's nothing like it. It lasts me a whole year, I take care of my treatment- no salt water, always gentle shampoo. My friends who get treatments like this have to do it every 3 months and the ones who go to DS studio come 1 or 2 times a year tops. Ask for the owner he does an amazing job. Such an amazing salon. They specialize in just about everything. Esmeralda did my makeup. She was so wonderful! Not only is she a great person but she did my makeup perfect! She even gave me some tips! The hair was beyond amazing - Dimitri, Savita and the staff go out of their way to make sure that you are comfortable and happy.
