The customer service is bad, they don't have the toilets open and when you ask them that you want to enter the bathroom they send you to the neighboring stores annoying and with a bad attitude, that is ridiculous first because the toilets are essential and Secondly they should be friendly with the client, your using money at the store so it should be available for customers. read more

So you need some new kicks. Well I have a deal for you. Drag your happy bootie over to DSW. Walk to the back of the store and check out the clearance racks. Yes this works for men as well as womenfolk. I have purchased a number of dress shoes for work at various locations of this store. It has saved me a lot of money in the process. Since the clearance racks are discounted at least 30%, we are talking some noticeable savings. Pro Tip: Sign up for the users club as they email and snail mail you special offers and coupons. It can make drastic additional savings. So on this trip, I wanted a pair of black dress shoes or perhaps a pair of black semi-sneakers. Well I ended up finding a pair of black/charcoal semi-sneakers from sketchers for 40% off of $64.99. I had a coupon from the mail for $20 off of a purchase of $49 or more. So after the discount, I was able to buy some dress socks and get a few extra bucks off the discounted price. This made me very excited. To say the least. I love saving cash on things that I need to get anyways and when I do it just makes the world go around. The customer service here is very nice as well. You are greeted upon entry and if you need a hand, someone is available to assist quickly and efficiently. Consequently I actually like this chain. The have a nice clearance section with good selection. Everything is clearly labeled and staff readily available to help if needed. Everything you need for your feet and there comfort. Socks shoe inserts and things to keep from slipping. Cashiers are fast and friendly. Initially when I got in line there was only 1 cashier and another staff person saw a person waiting in line he came over and opened a new register which is appreciated. Due to the holidays, who doesn't misplace a receipt or 4... well that was my case. I received a pair of boots as a gift exchange present and my dearest cousin lost the receipt. Luckily she called DSW and they told her that it wasn't a problem, I just had to take the shoes in the original box and I was set. I decided to exchange my boots (since they were a bit big). Anyhow, I wish I would have gotten down the name of the friendly young lady that helped me. She made the transaction way easy. I ended up getting some shoes that were less than the original total value, since I didn't have a original receipt I wasn't able to get any cash back, only store credit... which in all honesty, I didn't mind. I love this place! After entering 2012's fashion from the 1940s, I finally decided to enter this place to try on modern heels. I have to say, these heels are sooo comfortable compared to some of the many vintage shoes I own! Although they'll never be as unique as vintage shoes, they are still pretty damn cute! So far I've bought a handful of heels and wedges from this place! :D I looove shoes, obviously! Let's start with the location: Perfect outdoor shopping mall area with plenty of other neat stores around. Manly men types will enjoy Harbor Freight, which is next door! So I am giving this store a 3 star rating. Mainly because I have been here so many times and sometimes it is great service and others I am completely ignored. Sadly the last time I was here it was one of the 'ignoring' times. Went in to find rain boots. Which is not a normal item that I am looking for here in So Cal but hey when you have to cross through a huge puddle to get to your car and your feet are getting wet because all you have is tennis shoes...well it was time for rainboots. Let me begin by saying that I do not frequent these shoes stores that swear that they will save you a ton of money on your next purchase. If you really want to save money, go to Marshalls or my personal favorite: 6pm.com! Anyway, I actually ended up in this store because my mother was in a hardware store that's a few doors down from DSW. So, I decided to kill some time and maybe, just maybe find a pair of shoes in my size. I actually found a couple of pairs of shoes in my size and I almost jumped for joy. I said ALMOST!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW....as I was debating getting a pair of shoes, I noticed that there was a rather intimidating man standing at the end of the aisle in which I was located. He had the NERVE to stand there like some type of bouncer at a club with his arms crossed, his legs spread apart, and he had this glare in his eye. I was looking around to see what he was looking at. Then I realized that he was looking at me! Seriously??? If you think that I can't afford two pairs of shoes on my salary, you are wrong! I put those shoes back so darn fast and told my mother that I did not want to buy anything in this store because I felt uncomfortable. Then, as I sashayed out of the store, I said, "I will never buy shoes in this store nor will I ever come back because this is ridiculous!" Then do you know what happened???? I'll type it here anyway.....He moved to another aisle and did the same thing to other people who didn't notice that they had this person standing there watching them like a hawk. How rude! Can't this place afford security cameras and don't they have sensors on their shoes? Maybe it's just me but I really don't foresee people stealing shoes from a store. Maybe I'm naive and trust people until they give me reason not to. However, they need to invest in some customer relations trainings and make the customers feel welcomed, while they still dissuade people from stealing their merchandise! I went there two weeks ago to pick up an order I had my mom order for me. ow item had came in. So I went and picked up the shoes with NO ID from Ariana she's like the manager or supervisor. so today I go back into pick up the rest of my order from the same person Ariana, now I need my moms ID, why in God's green earth would I have my mothers ID on me.....? so I say I just got half of my order from "you" two weeks ag that's when she gets an attitude and tries to give me a number to call and walks off instead of trying to trouble shoot the problem And leave the customer with some kind of satisfaction instead of attitude and shortness. I placed an online order on a Thursday and it says available for pick up within 2 hours but they give you several days to pick up. I received notification the following day (Friday) that it was ready. I had work so was intending to pick up Saturday morning. Plenty of time within their window, as I was told I had until Tues of the following week. Well Friday I received an email stating my order was picked up! Not by me! It was after 10pm and the stores were closed so I could not call to see what was going on. I immediately emailed customer service. The following morning before the stores open, I received an email from customer service saying that they verified with the store ( mind you they don't open for another couple hours) that my order was picked up and proper ID was provided and that id have to call their billing department to dispute it. I immediately phoned their customer service line and was placed on hold while they attempted to call the Downey store as well. No one answered of course because they didn't open until 10am. The ended up refunding me and escalating the complaint to upper management. Either a careless employee gave away my order or it was an inside job with an employee. No one came with my ID and email confirmation! I will never order online from DSW knowing they don't even verify information upon pick up. What a fraud! read more

My bad experience comes from actually visiting the actual store and observing and experiencing Ariana's (manager) bad attitude. She was so arrogant when training an employee on the register when she was assisting me and being so nice to me. Arianas vibe and attitude is nasty. Two stars just for the employee who was being trained and the online service. Ariana alone would have gotten them no stars. I've been a fan of DSW for over 10 years. They rock, plain & simple. So many shoes, so little time & money! This location is the same as the others in terms of size & setup. I will say their clearance racks are much more organized than other locations. This makes scoring a great deal that much easier. The store is located on the less busy side of Downey Landing, so parking is easier. The staff are professional and courteous from the time you enter the store to the time you leave. Came to Westminster to pick up my shoes that were on hold, much to my dismay they weren't on hold like I was told they would be. Fortunately the girls we so sweet (and apologetic), they tracked them down for me! I think at most stores, I'd have to do that myself. If you ever have a little mishap with your workshoes and need another pair asap, this DSW is the place to go. I say this one, because I originally visited the one in Torrance and wasn't able to find the right shoes after two visits. The Downey DSW has a much wider selection of shoes and more wide foot sizes in stock. The store is well kept, with all the shoes neatly stacked together. Staff and customer service is okay, if you can't find a specific size or shoe, they will offer to check and see if its available in another store for you. The store needs to improve in their cleanliness and customer service. I went through 4 boxes of Clark's to make a pair. They had mismatched shoes (3 right foot shoes, no left). The cashier charged me more than what was advertised. I asked her to adjust the price to what was displayed (price match) on the sales floor. She asked me to take her to the display rack. She said I picked up the wrong shoe from the wrong place. I explained it was the only shoe I saw on the sales floor and inquired about the price. She explained it was the last one of that style/model and it was probably on clearance. I asked her to show me where that pair is displayed because it didn't make sense that the clearance shoe was $20 more than the shoe being displayed on the floor.
