Although I've spent hours on the DSW website to get an idea of what I'm looking for and to understand the price ranges, I still feel quite overwhelmed at a DSW store. Great selection, but man it can be a lot! Typically I walk in, go through all the rows and come out with nothing. Or I spend a lot of time on the website and purchase nothing. But I had gift cards to burn and it was the end of the year with 50% already reduced items. And I needed shoes! I actually did really well. I went for comfort this time and purchased two pairs of Clark's and another comfy Euro dress shoe. Service was really good. The salespeople working and tidying up, each asked if I was finding everything ok, or they told me about the 50% off clearance sale. Tremendous service! I had two recent on-line purchases that were refunded to me at the register. No issue, no problem. And I had another pair to exchange from almost a year ago and the manager came over and handled the transaction. No issue, no problem. She also gave me an extra 15% off coupon to use for an in-store purchase. I've already bought (3) new pair since the return. All fit great with no need of return. I love the rewards program, the birthday dollars, the free shipping, the clearance items, the ease of use with the on-line app, the sizes and colors, the prompt service, etc. But I keep coming back because I know they'll always work with me when I make a purchase and change my mind. Stop asking for phone numbers! It's getting worse and worse. The staff is obligated to ask for your number or they will get in trouble by management/corporate. It's awful. I hate checking out at any and all DSW's. They don't take "no" for an answer and it's so incredibly rude. I even gave a fake number in hopes of bypassing the follow up questions. That wasn't even good enough. They wanted a "members" phone number. No. I'm not giving out any numbers just so that you can sell my information and market us endlessly. 8/10/20 While shopping for new shoes for my wife, I cam across two more cool Puma shoes for my collection. There is one pair of Puma shoes I might trade in for some credit. This store is only accepting credit cards at this time. This store is remarkably clean and organized than the stores use to be. Also the public bathrooms are close, so if there is a rumble in your tummy and you can not stop to play, away it goes I burn my toes, but Independence Day did not happen to me. Yes, that poem went over my head up until today when I thought about it. This is why I give this store three stars when it could have been four. I understand why the public bathrooms are closed, but for the cost of shoes we are buying and the extreme inconvenience off having to walk to Target to use the bathroom, puts this experience at a two star rating. I saw only one person on the floor while others were at the register. The staff were polite, but it looked like the store was having trouble keeping its employees. This is what I observed from the lack of employees on the floor. I did return the next day to get the other pair of Puma shoes. I now have three in my collection and if I can aquire a royal blue , emerald green or purple, I will do so. The best part of this experience is the tax free weekend. This is the place where I buy my shoes they always have specials, and the best thing you can find shoes for the whole family.

Bottom Line: Shoes as far as the eye can see for the entire family but not necessary well known designer names. Wow! I can't get over how many shoes this place has! They aren't kidding about the W for warehouse in their name but I'm not totally sure about the D for designer. More on that later . . . Immediately upon entering I felt like there were shoes as far as the eye can see. I'd estimate that 50% of this store is women's shoes and the balance is men's shoes, kids shoes, handbags, socks and a touch of they apparent like scarves. The prices seems fair and on par with an outlet store, Nordstrom Rack or good sale at Macy's. As far as "designer" goes, in a sense aren't all shoes designer since they were designed by someone? On the other hand, when I think of designer shoes I think of higher end shoes. Admittedly, I didn't find many higher end shoes here. I think the fanciest I found were some Cole Hahn flats for $90. It was a 20% back to schools offer I did ones transaction and I saw something else and I tried to buy separately after the first transaction and they told me it was not able to get 20% discount for a second transaction, so I was with my daughter and I told her that I can do on my daughter purchase she told me not you have to come back tomorrow ...how inconvenience because I live in Annandale so try to put it on hold I don't have to shop again -the next day -it was 7 o'clock- and she told me we only can hold things for the day, which it is a lie because I have been before at DWS at another location and they were able to hold it until the next day meaning that she won't really want to do any extra mile customer satisfaction. Something else happened prior at the moment when I was at the register I noticed I didn't have my wallet so I asked the manager who was helping me to hold on one second but I had to go run to my car and get the wallet and she told me that I have to wait in line before and I was waiting for at least seven Customer ahead of me, regardless of I was with my daughter (cerebral palsy)pushing her wheelchair. it's too bad because the store looks pretty nice very nice on people employees offering help while I was on the floor. So I contacted Corporate and they basically told me that since the refund was made "oops sorry" (which seems to be the overall motto of this company, they will only be giving me a $30 gift card. I guess an extra $30 hurts their company too much. Is there really a pair of non ugly shoes that I can purchase for $30 even? Bought a pair of shoes in PA over Thanksgiving and my shoes fit perfectly in the store. However, after wearing them and actually walking around, they were too big and my heels kept falling out of the back. I had no receipt, no box and they were slightly scuffed. They were gracious about letting me do a return. Yesterday I ordered a pair online and forgot to add the extra 25% and they were happy to do a return and start a new purchase so I could get the extra discount. "Memorial Day Sale" -- me thinks not! I'm disappointed in any store which lures customers with catchy sales gimmicks ("Take an EXTRA 20% OFF) knowing they have already marked up the prices on the merchandise (an EXTRA 50%). I visited this DSW on Memorial Day in hopes of finding my daughters a pair of sandals for the summer. I truly appreciated the attendant who was working in the "Youth" section and she is the only reason this review scraped by with "Two-Stars". She attentively asked what I was looking for on several occasions, but when I responded with a particular size she would point me towards the shoes on display. Once she did go back to check the store room while I continued to open boxes to determine if I could find sizes that fit. To my surprise, there was one particular box with sandals inside that were extremely worn! The bottoms were "DIRTY" and there was "HAIR" stuck to the bottom of them. Some despicable customer had painstakingly gone through the process of bringing in their child's well-worn, dirty shoes and then stuffed them with tissue paper and put them back into a new box. As soon as the attendant came back from the store room I alerted her to my discovery. She didn't seem phased in the least and replied, "It's a shame what some customers will do". I did not condone what that customer had done, but they probably felt justified in switching out the shoes for the "highway robbery prices" they had previously paid. Either way, this is the second lackluster experience I have had with DSW and will look for shoes from other companies that don't gouge their prices up and then place a discount sticker on a tattered up box. When I get there, they don't have the shoes I ordered. The person​ behind the counter tells me that my order was cancelled because they didn't have the shoes I ordered in my size. They failed to notify me by phone or e-mail. To make things worse, I was told that the forty bucks I paid for shoes they didn't have in stock would take 5 - 7 days to refund back to my bank account. No one behind the counter bothered to apologize. No one from their online order processing​ center sent an automated I am sorry. Maybe VIP in DSWland means"Very Insignificant​ Person." Customer service at this one is none existent for the cashiers at this location. I went last week when they were doing the wine chiller and tumbler promotion. In the email it said spend $39 and get a wine chiller and tumbler free. So I spend almost $90 and I ask for the wine chiller and tumbler. She tells me it's $10 and I tell her about what the email said and she decides to fo back and forth with me about it. Then asks for me to pull it up. My phone is pulling up slowly (bad service) so I recall that I screenshot the DSW Instagram with the promotion and I show her that and tell her my phone is pulling it up slow. She gets an attitude and say here don't worry about it and throws the chiller in the bag. In fact, one of my fonder memories as a small child is throwing my brand new white patent leather shoes out the car window because my uncle had just purchased me the red pair I had been dreaming of. I missed the great selection and sales at the Dillards in MacArthur Center. Their semiannual shoe sale was the best. DSW has helped fill that void. Huge store, great selection and shoes are always on sale. Last year I scored a pair of gray suede snow boots for 70% off! Prices are extremely reasonable. Staff is friendly. All the sizes are out so really no need to have staff on the floor unless you are looking for something specific and have no idea where to find it. I LOVE shoes. This place is A-OK because they offer a huge selection, a wide variety (anything from cross trainers, to flats, to pumps, to boots), and at a good price. Everything is laid out in a logical way- you can tell by quickly looking at a few shoes what will be in the aisle. If you're coming in to do a surgical strike-in and out- for shoes, just pick the style you're looking for and walk down that aisle. If you're like me, be prepared to spend a bit of time- walking up and down each aisle. I am picky when it comes to shoes- I only like certain styles, certain materials, and certain brands. I can usually find at least one pair of shoes to buy per visit here. I prefer the Tysons location, but this is a few blocks from my apartment, so I frequently end up here. This store is always clean, organized, and with more selections than one person could reasonably expect. You could spend hours here, just milling up and down the aisles that are categorized by style. Need sneakers? Sure, there are about four aisles full of them. Boots? Yep, three aisles full. Heels, flats, clogs, sandals, slippers, mules, you name it. At least a full aisle of each. And I'm not talking small aisles....I'm talking warehouse-sized aisles. The name does not lie -- it truly is a warehouse of glorious, beautiful, kickin' shoes! Since these are discounted designer shoes, prices can still be a little high. You won't find Payless Shoe prices here. Sandals (even flip-flops) can be $20, and for a good pair of leather boots, you could easily spend over $100. But think of the quality! I love, adore, and practically worship DSW (could you tell?). Even if I don't end up buying anything, it's always a fun time just checking out all those different styles. The staff is always friendly and helpful, too, offering big bags if it looks like you are juggling a few too many shoeboxes. If you need some new shoes (even if you don't), GO. SEE. Every DSW store I have been ever been to is usually pretty good and this one lives up to that expectation. The store is humongous and has a wide selection of shoes at low prices. The clearance section is a great way to find the deals you're looking for, but they also carry a good stock of new shoes. I didn't interact with the staff much but they did offer help several times and the checkout process was smooth. The store was clean and well organized. This is a pet peeve of mine for shoe stores, so it's always nice when they have their act together. DSW is great for coupons and specials notifications so make sure you sign up for the mail and email lists. I think some of their "standard" offerings are a bit over-priced, so my trips to any DSW is to scour the bargain rack and see if I can find anything I like. If I do, they get 4-starts (unless their service is poor) If I don't, they get three stars. I didn't find anything, so 3-stars it is. I just went there to buy shoes as gifts. For a busy Sunday afternoon, there were only two cashiers and lines were going so slow. One of them was absolutely incompetent. The girl with super long hair looked at my coupon saying it's not valid until may 12th. I said it's for my bday and my bday is in April. She said nope. I said yes. She kept going on for a while and oh its valid until may 12th. She proceeded to check out my two pairs of shoes and I asked for gift receipt. She sighed with a fraustraion. I was a bit perplexed. She said I was too late to tell her and now she had to refund my items and scan it again and again tells me that I should've told her sooner. How soon? She obviously was annoyed the fact that I asked for gift receipts. So I said it's okay I will just take the receipt and again she goes nope I cant, I need to scan it all again. I shopped for a specific spring high heel at this location yesterday and found them! Nine West strappy multi color heels are so comfortable (I wore them last night) and if you use the $10 coupon (members only) you pay only $57. I'm sure it's priced around $80 at other locations. The men actually get more than one isle here lol i love picking a shoe on the racks and then going to discount and if you're lucky, you'll get a realllly good deal. BEWARE - Do Not Shop at DSW due to DSW Return Policy they do not disclose to customers, DSW is tracking your purchases & returns using a 3rd party company TheRetailEquation.com As a Mom, I purchase shoes for my family and sometimes need to return shoes that do not fit or work for my family. I purchased 2 pairs for my husband on Father's Day in the Fairlakes Fairfax VA store but he found they were not a good fit so when I went to return in the same week With my receipt, in the box not worn they refused to allow my return, credit card, exchange or merchandise credit. They said they could not help me understand why but to contact TheRetailExchange and would not be able to return until 90 days due to the amount of my previous returns. I was never aware they had such a policy. They do not advertise this policy on their website anywhere. I return items all time for my family and have never had any issue at any of the retailers I shop with. I rarely shop at DSW, I'm not a shoe person but do have to buy shoes for my kids and husband.
