I needed new running shoes and therefore, I came to DSW for it. I've been going across other aisles that display those type of shoes and founded one that feels comfortable and looks good at the same time. Most of these shoes are affordable, which some of them are under $80. They do display ones that are on clearance now, but I only saw a few are. Hopefully, more will have a clearance. When I went to the counter to purchase shoes, I think they asked me if they can prevent my shoes from being decolorized for $8.99. I declined it, but if you want them to do that before you buy shoes, you can. I don't think it's going to affect how I feel about wearing my new shoes. I think it's a new service since I've been purchasing shoes from this store at least a few times and that they never asked me about that option. read more

This spot is kind of tucked away in the lot closest to 880 freeway at Pacific Commons in Fremont. They've done ok for themselves as businesses over the years typically fail in this quadrant of the shopping center, for whatever reason the stores are always changing, once H-Mart arrives at years end that'll all change though. This spot is at least facing the road on Christy Street now not tucked away around the corner where it used to be. You can order stuff here online and then drop in and just pick it up, super easy. They've got plenty of options, especially for women here. read more

My wife and I were driving around Pacific Commons on a lazy Easter Sunday and thought, wow, DSW is no longer here!?! But apparently they moved a few stores over to a newer location but in the same general area. Anyways, we noticed that they were one of the few stores that was open on Easter, so we decided to pop in and browse around. A huge and spacious interior, that doesn't feel crowded at all. Two unisex restrooms. A good selection of men, women, and kid's shoes with the discounted shoes in the back of the store. read more

I was warmly greeted when I walked in. They have a really good selection of shoes and a variety of brands from Birkenstock to Puma and all in between. They often have common sizes in stock so I frequently shop here. Overall, there's always at least one good deal or sale in store and I end up walking out with at least one pair of shoes. Everything is very tidy and well organized. Great staff. read more

Came here to find some new running shoes, slip ons (cuz I'm too lazy to tie laces), and found a couple different Skechers brand sneakers that I liked. I ended up purchasing two pairs of shoes, one in-store, and the other at a different DSW which I had to find online because the Fremont location didn't have it in my desired color/size. Both shoes I purchased are made with comfy memory foam, Skechers relaxed fit sneakers in a unique dark taupe color, and a Skechers sport-active shoe that's machine washable. So that's cool, ya know, in case I wanna do a mud run or something!?! This store used to be around the corner, must have moved sometime in the last few years. And I'd have to say that the old location was much better. The layout was more desirable, the handbags and other accessories were up front and set up nicely, made me want to purchase a new purse every time I walked in. And the selection of shoes on display and available seems to have gone downhill with this new location. And I've purchased tons of shoes at DSW over many years, works shoes, dress shoes, heels, sandals, sneakers, etc. The quality is similar to what you'll find at Macy's (in fact they sell some of the exact same shoes).  During my visit last week, I was not impressed by the customer service. Zero workers offered help as I wandered the aisles and tried on different shoes. With the few employees that I did see on the floor, the scene was pretty much a manager/worker yelling at other workers (while in front of customers). I mean I like some independence while shopping, but I don't think they have their priorities straight if they're yelling at employees to do work instead of offering help to customers in the store on a weekday afternoon. Anyway, I still like the shoes at DSW, whether purchasing in-store or online, and the prices are quite fair in my opinion. Just know, the Fremont location is not the best. read more

DSW on Christy St. In Fremont! LOVE this location! The employees are helpful and the customers are respectful. Specifically, Russ was really helpful, welcoming and cheerful! Best customer service ever! I asked about these Lilo and Stitch socks that I wanted to purchase again and though they weren't out on display yet he went back in storage to check if he could find them, AND HE DID!! All the employees seem like they enjoy working here and seemed genuinely sincere. DSW on Christy St. In Fremont is my favorite shoe and sock destination!! I come from over 30 miles away just to shop at this store. Thanks for always brightening my day! I hope that DSW Fremont stays in business! They sold me an expensive pair of shoes that had the leather start peeling off 30 minutes into first wear. I come back one day later and the manager refuses to refund me for the defective item, stating it's been worn. They take no accountability for bad quality shoes. This rating is totally reflective on my loathe for lines and crowds. Also that I'm a low maintenance shopper, who likes to browse, try and get out without being badgered by a sales associate. Everything here is just neatly laid out with the shoe on display on top of the counters, then boxes of said shoe in multiple sizes stacked neatly right below it, logistically sound. I've never ordered shoes on-line, because I need to try them on. You can do that here, try them for a few steps and walk up to a mirror. I've also never encountered an issue of them not having my size. The aisles are crazy wide and not a huge mess from customers shuffling things around. Have you ever been in a factory store at a popular outlet strip, it can be a war zone. Not here, everything is quite civilized. The pricing here is also great, when compared to most other places. For example I used to get my hiking shoes at REI and my work shoes from Beck's or Red Wing, where I would usually drop $120+ for a pair. Here the same brands or something really comparable for $70 or less. That is quite the savings! Which solidified my new loyalty to this place. And I first found this place in the beginning of the pandemic 2020. One of the very few positives that came out of that year, a silver lining if you will. The lady helping me with my returns was nice but the manager here, Louis, is really rude. I asked if I could use my bday reward (which I didn't know I'd even get it) on a purchase I made a WEEK before my bday. My bday was 10 days ago, and I'm leaving out of the country for a couple of weeks and this reward is gonna expire. The lady told me to speak with the manager and when he came up, he was rudely telling her she needs to say something and he doesn't understand when she's just pointing her fingers. The lady wanted me to ask him so I did, and of course, he said no, he wouldn't allow me to get $5 cuz I didn't buy the shoes in my bday month. Had to return an item. I run and get to the front door at 7:55pm on a Monday. The store is empty except for one couple. Their closing time is 8. Their operations manager (heavyset caucasian guy) is holding the door and wouldn't let me in. Told me they stop entry at 7:50pm (which of course isn't mentioned anywhere so how is a customer supposed to know?). He says it is 30 seconds to 8, while my phone shows 7:56. I explained I just need to return an item and will be out in a minute but he kept saying he will lose his job if he lets me in. Funny that a customer facing business would fire their store manager if he helped a customer! All my pleading doesn't help. He asks me to think about the situation from his perspective! Sigh... Neither of us was rude to the other person, or anything like that, just to be clear. The guy was unfortunately unhelpful. Finally he tells me if it was 7:55 he could have let me in, but now that it is 8, he cannot. I guess that policy of 7:50 just changed! Disappointed, I walk back and look at my phone, which shows the time is still 7:59. Oh well, I hope they do better and try to help their customers. I don't believe he was being honest about the time he was seeing in his phone. I believe he just wanted to close shop and go home without having to deal with another customer at closing time. I get it, its a tiring job. The reason customers go to stores still is for good customer service, and a good experience. If that's absent, then might as well do everything online (Zappos/Amazon/even DSW.com). That's how physical stores continue to close all over. That's a more likely reason for a store manager to lose his job. I wish no ill-will and hope the store does well and the employees keep their jobs. I just wish they think a little more about how they can help customers more. These moments leave a lasting impression. Whether it is positive or negative is up to the store employees. read more

I love this location of DSW! Located in Pacific Commons and always clean. The staff is also friendly, and the store is well organized, & good deals of course. Plus, they're good at sending you emails & offers regularly. I went here on Sunday to shop for a new pair of cute flats. (These days, been wearing a lot more flats than heels) I found a pair I liked, tried them on, etc. So I get to the cash register, and ask if there are any coupons. I went in today to return a pair of Aldo boots that no longer have my attention and to my surprise...while Theodore was processing my return, I turned to my left and saw an entire corner of handbags, jewelry AND more! I had to take a double-take b'cuz I couldn't believe what appeared before me... After Theo completed my return, I found myself in a sea of designer name handbags: MICHAEL KORS, Aldo, Calvin Klein, Steve Madden and more. Say what?! I was in bag-heaven... there were a handful of bags I would have totally bought today, but I made a promise to myself I would cut back on material things this year (let's see how long that lasts, *wink!). This is a pretty massive location right in the middle of a shopping center next to other massive stores. That being said on the weekends parking can get a little hectic but I always seem to find a spot regardless. This location always seems to be really busy and messy. There are typically boxes and shoes thrown around all over the walkways and a lot of the colors aren't sorted in the correct area. I would only recommend coming here if you've seen what they offer before and not so much if you're looking for something. They do have a wide range of shoes and styles but it can be difficult to find what you're looking for. And once join find it most times my shoe size is out. The workers tend to be really rude and seem to be annoyed that you're shopping there which doesn't help the long line and wait. I only come here to browse but it's not my favorite spot. read more

When I took it up to the register they told me it wasn't on clearance and someone had put it there accidentally. Really disappointing customer experience. There's a solid core collection of basic everything here. Tennis shoes, flats, pumps, everything you could dream of. But the crown jewel of this place is the fact that they get designer shoes in and they're in the back where the clearance is. Not only are they usually marked down a substantial percentage, but you get at least another 30 - 70% off of the sale price. It's indicated by the color of the sticker. My most recent visit last week yielded so many pairs of Frye boots in my size for around $110. I would've bought them all up if I didn't already have so many pairs. My last few visits before then yielded absolutely nothing. It's really hit or miss depending on what arrived that week. It's a fun sort of gambling if you will. It's my way of living life on the edge, as I don't enjoy any form of real "thrill seeking." Oh and how could I forget about the shiny gold YSL slip ons or the Gucci floral flats. I've visited many DSW locations as I am an average woman who loves shoes. Thank you Carrie Bradshaw for making it acceptable for women to admit their love of footwear. But, unlike Carrie, I don't like to pay full price on nice shoes. I get most of my shoes (and the rest of the husband's and kid's shoes since they do carry men and children's shoes) from the clearance section of DSW. When I go to this location in Fremont's Automall, sometimes I find a nice selection, sometimes I don't especially for me who wears Size 5-1/2 (or Size 3 on kid's). But I do notice that 80 percent of the time, I have to wait in line for at least 10 minutes in order to check out. They don't seem to have a lot of people on the cashier end, 3 at the most, but it's usually only 1 or 2 cashiers and i totally get impatient because I feel like there's no sense of urgency what-so-ever to check people out sooner. Each customer seem to spend a minimum of 5 minutes for a regular simple transaction. For this reason, I only venture out to this location on weekends only when I'm not short on time. I do like how this location is close to a lot of the other stores that I frequent such as Kohl's, Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy, Target, Costco and the Habit. read more

This DSW is located within Pacific Commons. There's plenty of parking, but you might have to park further away on busy days. The store is spacious and decently organized, so it's not difficult to find what you're looking for. The clearance section is generally in order, so you won't get too irritated when you find a size 5 in the size 8 section. I had questions about the differences between running and training shoes, and the associates aren't that knowledgeable about the shoes themselves (it's a warehouse afterall, not a specialty shoe store), but they are great about checking in the back to see if they have your size. The customer service here is generally satisfactory and I've always had positive experiences when checking out at the front. read more

Was just at the store (1/8) at 5:50 pm and an associate by the name of Indy followed me around and asked me if I needed help. I simply said no and thank her for asking. Noticed that she stayed very close and cautiously looking at my actions. She was also on her phone, which makes me wonder if she was calling local law enforcement. What make me very uncomfortable and felt profiled was when I stepped out and caught her looking at me thru the window. This whole time she let the her station at the cashier and let people in line. That's when I went in and asked her why she was looking at me at the window and she can definitely check my pockets. If I did steal something would the sensors go off??? I kept asking her feel free to check and call the cops. But of course no crime was committed so she couldn't do anything. The good is the store is stocked and clean. I have been shopping with DSW for years. Today I brought back a pair of Nike's that I ordered online, hoping to exchange for a smaller size at the store. When I presented the shoes to the clerk, I let her know that I didn't have the original packaging because it was crushed in shipping. The clerk and the manager refused to take the shoes claiming they needed the packaging even if it was damaged. They never even looked at my receipt or the shoes. They just said no. I left the store and called customer service. I was told, as I knew, that I can return the shoes without the original packaging. I should have been able to do that at the store. I was immediately sent a return label, and told they will credit my credit card. I was very disappointed by how I was treated at the store. DSW is basically practicing theft at this point. I ordered these boots in the store on November 26 and I never received them. I've gone back and forth with the store in Fremont, California and even got banned from the store because I demanded my shoes after not receiving them for nearly a month. I was told that they are discontinued and the order could not be fulfilled. I was also told that if I want to buy another pair of shoes, they would give me 50% off. A joke! Not a refund...but spend more money and get a discount. Their sales associate Lulu even called the cops on me and then called her boyfriend, who waited outside the store for me and then attacked me and my friend when we exited the store. I have video footage. I then called customer service and they said they could expedite shipping and the shoes would arrive in two days. That was two days ago and they still have not shipped. I'm reporting these crooks to the Better Business Bureau. So ghetto! They are still selling these shoes on their website even though they are discontinued. Customer retention is a very simple concept - treat your customers well and follow through on your promise and your customers will return. Because our policy states..." like bro idc about your policy this is an even exchange AND I was purchasing three other pairs of shoes.
