Some of the employees weren't wearing mask even though they were behind the plastic clear board behind the counter. Side note- Mens aren't included in the giant clearance section in the back anymore as clearance sizes stop at 11) Honestly if your a guy looking for some shoes... Id look elsewhere. At this new location I couldn't even tell if there is a men's clearance section (could NOT find it) Men seem to only be offended a few per type of shoe; Do you want running shoe, slides, crocs, dress shoe or work boot? I went in to get some Merrell shoes that were on sale. They didn't have my size. The lady who helped me was really pleasant at first. I found a different pair of shoes that were similar. When I checked out I asked if DSW gave rain checks on items that were on sale but not in stock. She just stared at me and then said we only have what's in stock. I asked again about rain checks on the Merrell shoes and I asked if she knew what I was asking. I said quite innocently "maybe that's something from my generation" to which she said "maybe I'm just stupid." I told her that's not at all what I meant. Vast array of shoes here but for some reason they aren't all of the best quality. Had a hard time finding black flats that were made well. I don't wear heels and needed some decent shoes for work that weren't open toed. They had little to offer me and I ended up buying a pair of shoes I don't really like but that's my problem. I am not entirely sure on the rating of shoe stores. I have been to the store many times and I enjoy the selection of men's and children's shoes. The prices are always very reasonable and seem to make the displays helpful in finding different styles. There are always email specials that provide even a better deal if you sign up for the email specials. The only thing that has got me many times is that they are out of the size that I need. This is what I suspect, though I am by no means making a statement of fact. I suspect that shoe companies make shoes especially for DSW to sell at a discount and that these aren't 1st quality designs that you'd find at regular retail stores. Why do I suspect this? Well, because the shoes that DSW carries are often substandard to the brands normal shoes. The leathers are thin, there's often glue showing and often the shoes just look... cheap. I have purchased children's shoes here because they're in and out of them so fast due to growing feet, but for me, I want quality shoes. While I think DSW is definitely better than say, Payless Shoes, they're also more expensive and just barely more stylish. read more

I ordered A pair of shoes via online on 09/29 and needed them for a wedding that I was leaving town to attend In 10/08 the Oder stated that I would receive the shoes in 4-7 days, but they never came. When I returned from my trip I received an email stating my order was ready for pickup. A little too late. When I called the store to cancel the order, I informed the employee why I wanted to cancel my order. Not one "sorry for the inconvenience " or "sorry it was our mistake". I received a promotional card from DSW, $30 off of a $49 or more pair of shoes. So I ordered online using the discount and picked them up in the store. Tried them on before leaving. They didn't work for me. I found another pair at the store and wanted to exchange them. You would think that they could reapply the discount to the new pair of shoes since I was exchanging them, but they told me they couldn't. The $30 discount is a one-time deal. This location is super convenient, as it's right by the freeway near Alderwood and within sight of the Rack, but it's a very small DSW (maybe 1/4-1/3 the size of the one I used to go to before we moved). Here is the deal: "Warehouse" is in the name. It's not Nordstrom. Don't expect to find the best quality for a discount. If that's what you want, don't shop here. Discounted truly designer shoes aren't handed on a platter with a discount price tag. Want a discount on designer shoes? You're gonna have to be the early bird that gets the worm at a department store sale or get lucky at Nordstrom Rack. Ever seen the shoe section there? There you go. And whether you're going to the outlet or the discount sister store of a major department store, know that many items are made for that discount store. So, I'm pretty sure that's what you get at DSW, even though it's not an offshoot of another store. Ok, so I digress. Imelda Marcos I'm not, but I love shoes. Through the years, I've learned that a good pair of shoes has a pretty price tag for quality. You want to have good shoes because you want your feet to be happy. You don't want to come home every day with blisters on your feet. As someone who's shopped at DSW for a long time, I've found the happy medium for me: Shoes that last about as long as I think I'd wear them for a decent price. The lifespan: A couple of years for shoes I'd wear for work, and 3-4 years for non-everyday shoes (e.g., hiking boots, winter boots, etc.). And even with that, I probably wore them past their prime. I'm not into fashion trends. I'm more practical. My latest obsession with DSW is that they started a donation program that suck(er)s you in to buying more shoes. For rewards members that means donate a pair of shoes, get $5 to apply to your next purchase. We are barely halfway through the year and I've donated 7 pairs of shoes, basically one per month. And, if memory serves me right, I have bought 5 pairs of shoes (for my son and me). The discounts can be stacked, which feeds my urge to buy. Then throw in super cheap yet cute freebies (weekender tote, anyone?), and suddenly I feel like dropping $40 on a whim. While I like to browse online, I love going to the clearance section in the back. It's where I think, "Yeah, there's no nylon foot thingies here. But for a deep discount, I'll expose my feet to others' foot cooties." Actually, I don't think that. It just occurred to me as I was writing this review. Oh well. Do other shoe stores disinfect their shoes? If you don't go here for yourself, go here for your kids. Since I know my kid's feet will grow once we leave the store, I'm able to resell the shoes to other parents and at least get some of my money back. Because as parents, I'm sure many of us don't want to shell out mucho dinero for new zapatos that won't ever meet your child's foot. Or if that falls, I can donate and continue the endless cycle. Yes, the bathroom looks like a scene out of a Dateline re-enactment. The times I've been in there, it's so dimly lit. No toilet liners isn't new in the Seattle area. It seems the norm based on my experience. But "the squat" is in my genes, so it's no biggie. However, when I went yesterday, it looks like they replaced the lightbulbs. Extra star for you, Alderwood DSW. Lastly, when you stand in line, I've noticed the cashiers will call out something along the lines of "Next Shoe Lover, please." Not sure if it makes me feel like I'm someone special or of I'm feeling labeled. Might as well be precise and call me "Shoe Whore." I'd be fine with that. Lol! They have a decent selection but not all of the shoes are great quality. For the prices and brands you would hope that the shoes would be a little more durable. They have some fun accessories but they always seemed overpriced to me. I had an awful experience at this location as I was walking down an aisle two men were stuffing to duffel bags full of shoes. I tried to pretend like I wasn't seeing anything, but obviously I was. They stared at me until I was out of the aisle and then ran out of the store with their big duffel bags. Now maybe some people are used to seeing something like this, but not me. I almost had a panic attack and I was so afraid to leave the store. I ended up telling an employee. She was so nice and calmed me down. She was so nonchalant about it though, "don't worry, it happens." Since this experience I've been pretty much afraid to go in this location. Considering the fact that it didn't seem very out of the ordinary to her, maybe they should get a little more security. Maybe I'm just naive, and it does happen a lot. DSW has an excellent selection of shoes. It's pretty huge actually. My favorite thing is the back clearance section. I've found some beautiful shoes for great prices. Recently I found a gorgeous pair of brown Franco Sarto riding boots. I can't remember the original price, but I got them for only $90, which is pretty awesome for the quality. For some reason I never get my coupons from them in the mail like everyone else. Not really sure why. I should probably check to see what address they have in the computer for me. The staff is ok. I would say hit or miss. I have had great customer service on some trips and others where I've had not one person ask me if I needed help. Overall, I couldn't be happier to have this place literally down the street from me. I love shoes. I love shoes. I love shoes. I love shoes. Ok I could go on forever. But I won't. DSW provides my shoegasm in a nice, clean, and organized way. Things are in nice neat rows, and the boxes with the different sizes are nicely stacked beneath the display (and generally in size order.) I like that no staff comes and bugs me while I'm shopping, but they are easily at hand if I have a question. There are also plenty of stools to sit on while trying shoes on, unlike some places where you're fighting over one stool with 10 people. Check out was fairly fast, except that I wasn't a rewards member, so it took an extra 5 minutes to set me up. But after that I was out free. I don't know that DSW's prices are really that much better; I have a feeling that the shoes they sell are made for them, so the prices they post as the original "designer" price was likely just their markup. But you can definitely find some good shoes at decent prices. read more

Limited parking at this strip mall location it can get messy here. Shoe choice-wise, it's like the Costco of selection size in here, even for guys!!! I've found the prices to be a tad better than the Outlet malls, and here they have a far better number of 4E selections. As a child the shoe store guy named me Mr. Duck Feet....thus I pretty much hate shoe salesmen in general, so the fact that you can hardly find an employee here suites my tastes. The inventory is diverse, but they don't have a wide selection of women's dress shoes aside from heels. There is a subset of the population that can't wear open toe shoes or tennis shoes to work, and I was disappointed with their collection of professional, non-heels for women. My partner found the men's shoe department to also be lacking when it comes to cross-trainers, but he seems to enjoy the shoes he settled for. read more

This DSW is located down the street from Alderwood Mall in the complex with the Best Buy, B & N and Old Navy. It didn't seem to be quite as big as the Southcenter/Tukwila location but it did have a similar layout. The staff greeted me as I walked in and didn't push too hard to ask me if I needed help (which I can't stand). I was able to browse to look for some wedges for a friend's wedding but they didn't have a ton of selection in yet since it's still "boot" season here in Seattle. I was doing a little shopping with my daughter next door at Old Navy so we popped in to take a peep. I asked a worker if they had some knee high boots in a 9 and she looked me up and down and said "um for you?". So disrespectful! I said, "no, for the pope!" And she turned around and left. She went and talked to an older man who I'm assuming is the manager. They laughed together and leaned on eachother which I thought was inappropriate. She came back and said "can I help you find anything else?" Like she even helped me before. I said "no thank you". And she said "my manager is making me watch you" and I was in disbelief! Shoes, sandals, heels, and boots oh my! I love DSW, their prices are great, I have found the same footwear at Macy*s and DSW usually will have them at a lower price, not like major but good enough for me. Just need to keep your eye open for those good ones! I could spend pretty much all day in here trying on everything. I think my favorite purchase were some Coach boots that I still have to this day that I got for $70, when they originally were $150. I like the staff here a lot more than the Northgate location. Usually I can walk into DSW and be greeted at the door, or asked if I need help finding something, or even told to have a nice day. None of these things happened. I had called ahead and asked if there was a particular brand of shoe in stock and was assured that yes there was. I had then mentioned that I was five minutes away and would be there soon. Not a single associate spoke to me. I was unable to find what I was looking for due to the lack of help and so I am bringing my business elsewhere. read more
