Came in due to some major ankle and knee issues. Heard about the 3D fitting machine. 1) My fit specialist, James Richardson, was fantastic. Very professional, patient, nice and knowledgeable about the shoes and what would fit me the best. 2) The 3D fitting machine did assist James on where to begin and what type of shoes and inserts would be best for me. 3) Walked out with 2 pairs of shoes. Yes, they are pricey, but worth every penny. I felt immediate pain relief the day I bought the shoes, now, 4 days later, the pain in my legs and feet has been reduced from an 8 (scale 1-10) to a 2. I'm no longer limping due to ankle and foot pain. I can't say enough about how great these shoes fit, the service at this location and the fact that I can walk so much better. Paula B. read more

Came in for my first visit to this location and honestly I'm quite disappointed.... I didn't get familiar sooner. I have extra wide feet, so the New Balance Store is where I shop for athletic shoes. The staff measures and scans your feet for the perfect fit. They have a treadmill to try out the shoes before you buy them. They have a no hassle return policy. I am currently enjoying my new NB TRNR cross trainers in 4E. These are the perfect for the gym. The NB 624 with the leather upper is good, but my feet would sweat too much. The NB TRNR has a mesh upper, allowing heat to escape. My experience with this store was exceptional. I was helping my 84-year-old MIL, who is in the midst of cancer treatments, shop for more supportive shoes. She had just finished a radiation treatment so was pretty weak. Ethan had her sit down and proceeded to give her the kindest customer service I have ever witnessed. He was very patient and compassionate for what she was going through all while getting her properly fitted for a shoe that suits her needs. Love this place. I buy my new shoes and gear here. I love this place because the people who work there are runners not posers. Most of them run marathons and ultras so they really know from experience. They also have a gait analysis machine and treadmill so they can see your pronation type and provide you with recommendations on shoes, arch support, etc. Yes - they are expensive -- I think my last purchase was new pair running pants for winter, new running shoes, and new winter running outwear top - $350 but... it's worth every penny. You buy quality so you make big purchases in the upfront - but then you won't need to repurchase for awhile - other than the shoes (depending on your weekly milage). I just went here and had to hold back and only buy 2 pairs of shoes! My friend recommended going here. She told me it's the best as far as getting fitted for shoes. She was right on the money! This place has not only gym shoes, but sandals and leather shoes for women! They also have men's shoes and children's shoes as well as clothing. The selection can be overwhelming. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by a friendly guy. I had no idea what specific shoes I wanted, just that I had hard to fit feet and needed shoes for walking and working out. He picked out a few pairs, measured my feet and helped me get 2 great pairs of shoes. I could have bought some of the cute sandals and their loafers are nice looking too, but you don't want the credit card bill to get too high. This place is located in a strip mall by Bennigans and if you aren't looking for it, you can drive right by it. It's worth the trip! read more

I've shopped here several times over the years for NB shoes that just aren't available elsewhere. Great product and very attentive service - usually. Today I bought shoes and a set of replacement laces in a different color. My total bill was over $200 bucks of which the laces were only about $3. Realized when I swapped them in the shoes at home that I'd been sold the incorrect length, 45" not 54". They're mistake. I called and they said they'd swap them if I dropped in. Really? My time and gas to fix the store's mistake? Why not send them to me to fix the error? I don't go up in that direction very often. Guess I'll just go back to the laces that came with the shoes. I just had the BEST shoe buying experience at New Balance Chicago in OakBrook Terrace.  The manager, Don, took his time with measuring and fitting my feet into the perfect pair of New Balance 990 limited edition black shoes. I have been buying shoes for myself and my family from this New Balance Store since they opened over a decade ago. I have never had a bad experience there. Matt and Don are both excellent and have been working at the store for years. They are very knowledgeable about all of the shoes. My kids (now adults) and I all have wide feet, and the New Balance Store usually has our exact shoe in stock. The New Balance store also has equipment to analyze your gait and feet for abnormalities. Let me start out by saying I am writing this review about a fantastic product and a Great NB Associate by the name of Matt. First of all, four years ago I received a pair of New Balance Walking DSL-2's as a gift from a good friend of mine and was very pleased with this shoe except it was too large. So I went to the Chicago Oakbrook location and met the New Balance Associate, Matt there. I told him that the shoes were too big and he said that he would get the right size for me and sure enough, he found them in my size. Matt told me that the right size fitting shoe would last longer which they did. Matt was so professional and helping for my issue, I felt so at ease that I told him that I would be back and he had a new customer. Well anyway. I still have those shoes and I've been wearing them almost every day for the last four years and they have held up rather well with minimal wear. I have been through water, rain, mud, snow and whatever else I've walked over or through the last four years as well. They still feel comfortable and held up very well. I would recommend New Balance Products to anyone looking for a fantastic product. But best of all is Matt, who cared about me and was Awesome as well as just being a Cool guy. I religiously buy my New balance shoes, and I only go directly to their stores. As a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, I spend a lot of time in my gym shoes, and teaching kickboxing, boot camp, and working out often takes a lot of wear and tear on my shoes. I have found New balance to give me the best support for my foot. However, I only go directly to their stores and make sure to purchase a more high end model (1004 crosstrainers) which is usually not available elsewhere. I have found their salespeople to be friendly and helpful, and they give me and all of my clients a 10% discount as well on any purchases - how can you beat that? read more

They specialize in finding and stocking the right fit for their customers. I have extra wide feet and very few stores carry my size. They always have my size. I have been getting the same shoe in the same size for 20 years. Recently my foot grew 1/2 size. When I mentioned that the last pair I bought a few months ago were feeling tight so I was only able to wear them a few times, they offered to take them back and make it right. We have purchased many shoes from New Balance in the past, and had recommended them to friends and relatives, too. We went the extra miles to get to a New Balance store because they allowed you to purchase shoes of two different sizes, if your left and right feet don't "match," for a modest upcharge. So, imagine our disappointment when we drove out to Oakbrook today, when we selected the shoes we wanted but were told the the policy about buying two shoes of different sizes had been DISCONTINUED sometime in the last month. (but, oh, they could offer a 25% discount if we chose to buy BOTH different sizes of the same shoe!) Sorry, but we do not have a couple hundred extra dollars floating around that we can waste on buying two pairs of shoes - one of which will be totally useless to us!!! If you, like us, were a steady customer of New Balance because of their catering to customers' needs for two different shoe sizes in the past, maybe this will save you from wasting a trip, as we did. I love this store and the salespeople. I thought I might try on sizes and them see if I could get them cheaper elsewhere. (I really needed new shoes a year ago!!) This gentleman was so extremely helpful, knowledgeable, kind and willing to work with me with my challenging feet. I would mention his name, but observing and listening to the other salespeople assisting other customers, I would feel confident working with any salesperson in that store. I have been wearing New Balance shoes for many years due to use of orthotics and other foot challenges. And of course, they carry other reputable brands. Highly recommended!! read more

I'm a big fan of New Balance shoes. Although not close by, I really needed replacement shoes so I drove to Oak Brook Terrace in the summer of 2012. Their customer service was poor. I was disappointed and did not trust their attention to detail and follow up. My personal contact info (I bought shoes previously their) was wrong, product knowledge lacked, promise to order out of stock shoes (I came their because they carry all sizes) never was fulfilled, and my follow up attempt was casually dismissed. I won't be going back because we pay list prices for NB products and the service did not warrant any praise. I found the Rt. 59 Naperville store to be excellent. The Oak Brook Terrace store may of had a bad month but I expect better. read more

NO WAY! Purchased several pairs of shoes, sandals, socks at this store. A pair of running shoes was defective and tried to return 10 days later. REFUSED! Not only that, but I saw the EXACT SAME PAIR online - YES, online for 44% cheaper! And, this was a newer style. Best thing to do is go there to try on the shoes you like, then get the model number and order online. There are several sites available if you google the model number. I always buy New Balance shoes because they work so well for my feet. So when I bought new shoes and insoles a few months ago, I didn't hesitate to throw out the packaging, the original insoles, and the receipt. A while later I realized that the shoes were really hurting my knee, so I took them back looking for some advice. I assumed I'd have to buy new insoles or maybe new shoes. Great Service. If you are looking for an athletic shoe, then this is the place to go. They find you the proper shoe size, map out your foot on a machine to see where you have the most pressure, and even let you test it out on a treadmill if you want. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond. The prices aren't that bad either considering most prices of athletic shoes these days.
