The location on this place is great from the perspective that you do not have to walk into a mall. Just drive up to the parking lot and walk right in. I bought my first pair of AEs last Sunday and only time will tell if it was worth spending twice as much as compared to a pair of Rockports. But you are definitely paying for higher quality, along with the fact that they are made in the USA. So when you factor in US costs for manufacturing, the prices make sense. I am not a high roller and the AE employee did not make me feel out of place which is a plus. I recommend coming in with a list (refer to AE website) of the models you would like to try as they will not have every model in stock. All in all, it was good experience. read more

This is AE's newest store hence the lack of reviews. Don't worry though, as it's typical Allen Edmonds: real-world advice, knowledgeable employees, and a good selection! All of the usual shoes are available here but also a nice selection of shirts, ties, and other clothing. This isn't a department store but you might be surprised at the "trad" vests and neckwear in addition to the assorted leather goods. I have visited a few times to be measured, try things on, and place a special order. Each time I was greeted promptly and courteously, and the staff let me take my time as I looked around -- they never pressured me or hassled me to try things on until I was ready. All my questions were answered with "real-world" knowledge and not something memorized out of a training manual. The staff were more than willing to bring out several different widths and styles to make sure I got the best fit possible. All too often men (and women) assume they're some shoe size. The AE crew put my foot on the Brannock device and properly measured it, and then pulled an E width in a half size down. That was my third pair of Allen Edmonds shoes right there! So...typical Allen Edmonds service and quality products. Nice to see them finally offer a location outside of downtown Chicago. read more

I have bought AE's from Port Washington, Chicago Loop and through the shoe bank online. My first visit to the Oakbrook location was great. Lauren helped me find a new pair of loafers with rubber soles. She was patient and knowledgeable. Will definitely be coming back here for my next pair. read more

Eva was a great help. I went there to try on some Park Avenues and she measured me, brought out a series of appropriate sizes with different sole options, and helped me to lace and put them on. She claimed she was a little new, and did not answer any question she was unsure about. I tried on three pairs. I liked the 11D Park Avenue with the rubber sole. The fit seemed to change a little when I tried the leather sole. I ended up not buying anything that day, but the staff are very professional and helpful. I will be back when I have a little more cash in my pocket. read more

Very disappointed in the service from this store. My brother-in-law (who only wears Allen Edmonds for both dress and casual shoes) is gifting a pair to my fiancé as a wedding present. My fiancé has never experienced the likes of a pair of true leather shoes, let alone experiencing a store like Allen Edmonds. We were not greeted when walking in (despite the store being empty) and when we asked for help fitting him for a pair and letting him try on different styles, the employee (Lauren) was less than enthused and acted as if we were a burden or an inconvenience to her day. A customer shouldn't be offering more information regarding the brand, fit, and wear than the employee trying to make the sale and receive the credit. We came from North Dakota to visit and this was a surprise for him. It's a shame that we have better service walking into a Chick-Fil-A where we spend $10 then walking into a store to purchase $350 dress shoes, especially for such a special occasion. Visited for the first time today. My salesman, Tom, was awesome. He took time to make sure I got the right size. They didn't have it in stock, but he had it shipped from the factory for free. He also recommended some polishing materials. At first I thought maybe it was an upsell, but I'd gotten a good deal on the shoes with a college student discount and figured what the hell. But the polishing materials cost all of 20 dollars. That's nothing when it comes to maintaining a 400 pair of shoes. Basically, this location is great. When I buy another pair of good dress shoes next year, I'll take the time to go see Tom at this location even though I live in chicago. read more

Superb service and decent selection. Over the past several years they have added clothing and other accessories; not sure why. I do not see myself coming into an AE store to buy a $500 sport jacket ( styles are somewhat dated). read more

I purchased my first pair of Allen Edmonds last December. Good location, easy to get too off of Butterfield Rd. My sales person was Priscilla, she was friendly, knowledgable and above all patient with me as I tried on several different styles. I went with the Dalton Wingtip boots. They took a few weeks to break in but I love the look, style and feel. I have never received so many compliments from people on a pair of boots/shoes. The leather is soft and very high quality. I can wear them with blue jeans or dress pants which is great. I just returned for a pair of the dark chili Fifth Ave Cap-Toe Oxfords. Pricilla took great care of me again. The shoe is very comfortable from the start but I will be able to judge better once I have worn them a few times. Store is clean, sales staff is helpful but not overwhelming. My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary this year and since he has been talking highly about AE shoes, I wanted to gift him a pair for our anniversary. We went to the store some days ago around 7.15 p.m. (store closes at 8 p.m.). There was one saleslady and a couple looking at shoes. The saleslady greeted us after 10 mins of us walking around. We patiently stood waiting for her to finish attending the other couple and understood she was alone. It was 40 minutes of just walking around, not being asked absolutely anything and totally ignored. We got tired and walked out. Even at that point the saleslady failed to acknowledge us! We were extremely disappointed with the kind of service of a highly reputed company! My husband called back the store right away to let her know we were disappointed and the saleslady was even more rude - she just hung up on us! My husband is so turned off by this whole experience and find its hard to believe the post-purchase service will be any good! It truly is very disappointing and not something expected out of a brand like AE! read more
