I stopped by DSW and it was very clean and organized. If you tried on the shoes, place them under the benches, so the staff can come around and sanitize. Staff had their masks on. I have found some great deals in the clearance section & on two different occasions- associates have been very helpful at check out. Online returns, price matching, always trying to find a size or something that will work for me to order or another store. They call for help when the line gets long. I saw a sign on a display of shoes advertising a price and selected my size and proceeded to check out. The shoes rang up for double the price. I showed the cashier a photo of the display and had another employee walk to the display. They both saw the sign and boxes of shoes and said it was an error that someone had put the wrong sign and display together. I'm just not a big fan of this location. First off, it means I have to fight through traffic on LaGrange road, which is just never a pleasant experience. But I can't fault them for the location. Upon entering, you just can't help but feel that you are entering a mechanic shop. Not pleasing to the eye, and in a state of disarray and just rather dingy. And there is no organization to be had. I was searching for a pair of shoes for a wedding, and unlike other locations, there was no set area special occasion shoes. Everything was just kind of haphazardly mixed together. But, I did find a pair on the clearance racks in the back (talk about a free-for-all. People were knocking each other over for certain items.) And they were 70% off, so that also justified the money I spent on a full price pair of gym shoes. Now to the employees. The cashier was friendly, even in the face of a long line of customers. But the one sales associate on the floor just pissed me off. I did not have any purchases in my hands at the time, I was just strolling. She asked me six times if there was something she could find for me. And every time I picked up a box, and put it back, she would follow behind and check the box. What the hell is that all about? What, you think I'm going to steal one shoe? When I finally confronted her about it, she turned an awful shade of red, and said that she thought I looked "shady." I laughed at her. For a long time. Then continued shopping. If I didn't badly need the shoes, I would have gone elsewhere. Sorry to this DSW, but you have done me wrong. read more

This is not an outlet or a discount place. They had more than one pair of $70 slippers. Seriously, 70 fricken dollar slippers. They were comfy and all, but $70 for shoes you don't wear outside? I don't think so. The other thing that UNimpressed me was that the place is HUGE and they only have like 25 different pairs of guy shoes. Meanwhile they have 25 rows of ladies shoes. I understand that the female persuasion tends to buy more shoes then the average guy, but come on. I still like a selection. You're better off shopping elsewhere or online if you ask me. read more

Love coming to DSW when visiting my family for the Holidays. Since I live in HTown and our seasons are much different than Chicago's, I can find some great deals on shoes in the winter. Just like I can find great boot deals in the summer in HTown. Service is always quick and friendly. Store is clean and well kept. The staff on the floor are always willing to help locate just what I am looking for. This trip home, I collected; 3 clutch purses, 1 pair of boots, 4 pairs of shoes all for under $200 from DSW! I suppose this is great for people who find enjoyment in "the ultimate find" when shopping. Ya know, the kind of people that regularly search the racks at TJMaxx or Marshals. I can sometimes be that person but after having experienced two other DSWs twice as nice as Orland, I have my doubts on this location. Most of the other locations have actual display racks and they have the shoes stacked neatly within wood structured dividers. Not Orland. They still use the old boxes. Things are uneven and the place is always cold. They also need better carpeting. You can't get halfway through the place without aching from standing on what feels like cement. I do not have these experiences anywhere but this location. Being Orland and a mall that is relatively modern, you'd think they could update this "warehouse" read more

The good thing about this DSW is that it is open until 7pm on Sundays. Everything else pretty much sux. DSW is in one of the worst parking lots in Orland Park and right smack in the middle of shopping row on LaGrange Road. Shoes are often in the wrong boxes, wrong rows, etc. I think that I will shop online for shoes sooner than return to DSW. read more

I hadn't been here for a while and they finally upgraded to wooden shelves instead of old boxes to display their shoes. At least our money is going somewhere. They have also eliminated the loooooong isles finally and they have broken them into mini displays that are scattered diagonally around the store. Much easier to shop. They have a ton of shoes here. I get coupons and figure why not. prices are cheaper than most other stores. The shoes are all displayed on the old boxes. After searching around it is hit or miss if you can find your size. They also have a large discounted area. Everything they have is displayed, unfortunately I walk out emptied handed more often. DSW requires patience, persistence, and sometimes bravery. That myth about women going apeshit over cute shoes and good sales is, sadly, confirmed here. This is a huge warehouse of shoes. Beautiful, wondrous, lovely shoes. And there are types for everyone. My mom gravitates towards the Liz Claibornes and Aerosoles of the group, while I punish myself with less than comfortable but adorable heels. If I have an exact shoe in mind (i.e., a light brown leather t-strap with a 3.5 inch heel) then I'm often disappointed, but it's worth it to take a look before dropping too much money somewhere else. And they send you gift certificates for your birthday and for every $250 you spend, because they're evil and like to enable me to indulge in yet another pair of shoes. read more

Normally, I would give this store at leave 3-4 stars but today's shopping experience was not a breath of fresh air. The discount section smelled worse than being at the circus. There were a used pair of shoes, in a box, on the rack. Not what I was expecting. Next time, I will be armed with a can of Lysol. I'm locked out of my account because I tried too many times to put in the jacked up temp password or I would've done that. I just left DSW in Orland Park. I went there to return a pair of gym shoes that were too big and before I got in line I was walking around looking for something to exchange them with. I noticed a male employee with dark hair kept looking at me while I was browsing. Then I turn around and see him gesture towards me to 2 large African American men dressed in plain clothes and realized that he was having them follow me and clearly they were security guards. I was so uncomfortable that I just went straight to the register and returned my item without buying anything or exchanging it for anything else. I have been a customer at this location for the past 3 years that I've lived in the area. I'm a premium rewards member and spend a lot of money with this location. I have never felt more humiliated in a store and will not be returning to this location. If the employee thinks I'm trying to steal because I have a DSW bag, they should offer to keep my bag behind the counter while I browse, not make me feel like a criminal. I have worked in shoe retail before (the fact that I am admitting it should prove how true it has to be), and I know what service is or isn't. And this is it! I wish I knew the name of the young lady who helped me pick out a pair of Jessica Simpson platforms that were to die for and super comfy the two nights I wore them out dancing. They remodeled the store, so there are an overwhelmingly ridiculous amount of shoes, so the associate's help was appreciated. The ladies at checkout were multitasking, answering phone calls, doing stock checks, but I didn't even notice until I finished paying she was taking calls too. Now this is important because this means these girls aren't lazy and can give all customers time and attention they need. You never know when it might be you calling on that line, and so many places treat phone customers like bums, so this was worth noting. Prices always fabulous, selection is just ridiculous, and the clearance section is where I live. Once walked out with 5 pairs for just over $200 with tax. read more
