I went in to the Vans outlet this past weekend (Saturday 10/5) with my partner searching for a pair of Van's signature, inexpensive, black and white plastic frame sunglasses. Upon entry two employees made it a point to greet us, and walk around the counter to ask us if we needed any help finding anything as to personally escort us if needed. They both gave off really warm, hospitable, welcoming vibes. The gentleman was closer so I explained the sunglasses I was looking for and how I go through about a pair a month. He apologized that they didn't have them in store anymore before suggesting a really perfect backup option. I've since purchased a pair of the Vans sunglasses online, and placed my order for the great new recommendation! I cant thank him enough! These sunglasses and deal & meet my needs to a T. We bought $350 worth of stuff and the woman who checked us out forgot to put a pair of shoes in our bag upon checkout, after arriving home (1 hour away) we unloaded our stuff and realized what had happened, despite the mistake not being on our part, we went back to get the shoes and tried to speak to the manager about the incident and she blew us off and said "I don't have time for this" (wow, very professional) If you shop here make sure to check your bags before you leave cause apparently the manager likes to run a retail business like a McDonald's. Came here to get minime a pair of black vans with tiny flowers. End up getting mine- ooo black leather slip on and the sales items (my kid's) was anothe half off that price. Another amazing experience here, usually I get overwhelmed taking my 2 small children shopping (ages 3 &5) but Natalia was so helpful we had to try on so many different sizes for my 5 year olds wide feet. For me she picked out the perfect pair of the ultra range shoes! I'm so picky so it's really hard to decide and she went in the back and found me the perfect pair I know I won't regret! Terrific store! Only had to wait a few minutes to get inside (due to social distancing) but once inside, they had a great sale going and it was hard to make my final choices! Staff here is always really helpful and never pushy and there always seems to be some hidden gem in the clearance racks that I fall in love with. They had a pretty good selection of clothes and other items. Don't forget to buy one of their cool shopping bags for $3! The proceeds go to help teach autistic children how to surf and swim. When I asked the manager girl with short hair if she could look in the back for me and maybe find something cool, other than the boring ones they had out front. She told me the only ones we have are on the "TOV" table. Me being oblivious I guess as a customer I have no clue what a "TOV table is.. basement two minutes(I was timing it) and they came out and said there's no other black shirts just what's on the TOV table, again mind you I have no clue what a TOV table is. I was in the store yesterday and noticed a shirt hanging on the wall that I've been searching for for weeks. It's the long sleeve black oogie boogie shirt. I found said shirt on eBay for almost $100 in my size, wtf? Come to find out it'd been discontinued. So back to yesterday, I approached Tayler H. and asked for a large....and of course they don't have any! She called the Vacaville location and the had one left! Sweet, I thought, but alas they typically don't do in store transfers. Again I'm disappointed, until her and the manager in Vacaville decide to go ahead and make it happen! Nate and Eli did a fabulous job working the store alone. The line was long and many people needed assistance. Nate kept in constant communication with those in line, especially when the store lights went off for a minute. Eli did a wonderful job working with a deaf couple during their purchase, which caused the long line. Eli remained calm even when there was difficulty with the couple's gift card transaction. Once Nate finished with customers needing shoes, he assisted those of us in line. The store is always busy, this time there was an employee that stood out. I can't remember his name, it started with an M & he had longer curly hair (maybe Manny?) He was extremely patient & helpful with everyone. I witnessed him approaching many customers to see if they needed help. He kept things moving & was constantly communicating with employees in the back through his ear piece to retrieve different sizes & asking if there were more items in the back. Absolutely poor customer service. Neither the store or customer service picks up the phone when called. Put call back in the queue but no return call. Furniture paid for and promised a delivery time twice, but never delivered in a 4.5 month period. Said they would not match their online pricing, but when challenged they said they actually would. I came here today looking for something VERY simple, and left disappointed and somewhat annoyed. What I was looking for was a pair of blue canvas slip-on's. The slip-on's are one of the basics that Vans was built on. I know they aren't as popular right now as the low-top classics with laces, but it's still an awesome shoe, and this place should have had a damn mountain of them in the color blue. So I go in and immediately find the section where the slip-on's are located, and I also see the color I want on the display model. And so I proceed to look for them in my size.......can't find them. Maybe it's just me, they can't possibly be missing an item THIS basic in size 10, which is the most popular size by far. So I keep looking and looking and looking....nope. So I then proceed to get the attention of one of the employees, and he says he'll go look for them in the back. I mean, they gotta have some in my size, right? This is the f'n Vans outlet! How can they not have an item THIS basic in the most prevalent size? Anyway, the guy comes back a few minutes later and tells me the only sizes they have in the back are sizes 6 and 11.5. He didn't even offer to take down my info or hold a pair for me when they come in. Customer service at it's finest! At this point, I'm really annoyed. This is the equivalent of going to the grocery store, and not being able to purchase apples. So the only thing I find that's in my size is a pair of gray one's, which isn't what I really wanted, but I decided to try them on. This brings me to the second thing that annoyed me about this place. If you are going to open a store that mainly specializes in selling shoes, it would be great to have a chair or bench for your customers to sit in while they are trying them on. And that is my common sense tip of the day. So I try them on, and they fit nice, but I'm not feeling the color. If I'm going to buy something, especially clothes, I'm not going to settle on something I'll probably regret later. So I put the gray one's back and...being as stubborn as I am, continue to look for a blue pair in my size. I guess in the middle of all this I must have caught the attention of the little girl/employee sitting on the floor behind the counter. She kept taking turns staring at me like I was Ike and she was Tina Turner and playing on her phone while I continued to search in vain. Finally I just got fed up and left. Just some advice for those who run this particular store; keep your merchandise stocked up! I should of had NO problem getting what I wanted. You know damn well that size 10 is the most popular so stock up! It isn't rocket science. Also, if something isn't available, offer to notify the customer when it is. A little customer service goes a long way. And finally, don't make us just stand there awkwardly like flamingo's as we're trying on shoes, give us a place to sit. read more

Not nearly as nice new items as a normal Vans company store but FANTASTIC prices. I try to come by here 1-2 times a month. all but their regular stock shoes are buy one get one 50% off. Same with their hats and T-shirts. Don't come to this location if you're looking for their newest shoes(it'll take a few months) or their newest clothing(it'll be half a year or may never end up there), or are looking for a highly organized clean, non busy location. Good selection of shoes, some of the BOGO's are or were REALLY nice expensive ones, I'm talkin' retail of 79 on sale for 29 or 39 and you have the buy one get one 50% off on top if that! I've got a pair of shoes that were originally $64.99 as cheap as $4.99!!! On the downsides it's full of annoying ghetto kids (since when did urban ghetto kids wear vans?), and can be a bit crowded inside the store, very small walkways everywhere. read more

Not a great place to shop. This location is very space limited and is not stroller friendly or wheelchair accessible. All their clothes shelves are close together and is hard to move around up and down the isles. Their sales or the lack there of is not that great. This is an outlet store but the actual Vans store at the mall has more deals. The staff here unfortunately is not helpful either. They seem busy in just ignoring their customers. No wonder there really is not a lot of foot traffic at this store. We recommend shopping at the Nike store or the Converse store where their team members are people friendly and welcoming. We were here when it was raining out so we were thrilled it was empty. I walked into 4 employees working at the counter. I asked different times for back stock on 3 different shoes and it was like I was bothering their "party at work". Not sure if there was a supervisor included in this bunch, I hope not due to the lack of customer service. I've bought many of shoes here over the years and hope to still. I was on yelp writing a review for a place where I saw bad customer service and this place sprang to mind. My experience here was so bad, it's comical and I actually starting laughing out loud just now thinking about it. So even though this is a story from around last Christmas, it still cracks me up. It's right after Christmas and I go with my friend, her teenage son, and her baby to this place to use his gift certificate there to buy shoes. There are a handful of sales reps all over the floor, constantly asking people if they need assistance. At the one open register out of two at the counter, there is a cashier who is very unfamiliar with the computer system and who is obviously new and thus moving very very slowly. Periodically there is another employee (turns out supervisor) who comes over to explain some computer questions to her. I am not exaggerating when I say there is a line of 12 people going and we're probably #7 in line. I will stop here to explain where my one star comes from, besides the obvious fact that I am not allowed to grant zero stars. My girlfriend, god love her, can be very loud and come at people the wrong way. When you yell at people like you're their mom, it's easy for them to get defensive. I know when you work customer service, customers can yell and be rude and super demanding and borderline harassing and I'm sure given the high volume of customers they had that time of year, they were at their wits end. All that being said, this is still no excuse for the employee's behavior that drove her to whig out on them. There was one employee standing behind the counter on his iphone texting or emailing or whatever. The supervisor who was assisting the cashier was alternating between this and going on his phone too! This is while the line of 12 stands and waits, including a lot of mothers with restless children. Is this seriously happening? I look behind us and 3 more people get in line. I look in front of us and the register is ringing some error code as the poor cashier looks super stressed staring at the screen and hitting buttons in an attempt to fix things. The other two guys? Still on their phones! So my friend screams, "excuse me? Are you going to open the other register and help this long line or are you going to continue to play on your phones?" Shocked by her tone, this is where they get defensive. "Excuse me, but actually, I'm on my break!!" snapped back the one employee in a tone of voice like he was smelling dog crap while addressing us. "I understand that," explains my friend, "but then could you please go in the back to the break room or go outside? Because to the customers it looks like you're standing there ignoring us while you do personal things on your phone." The young man rolls his eyes to this and the supervisor identifies himself in a snotty little indignant tone of voice, was visibly annoyed, and started slamming things around as he opens up a second register. The young man continues to look at his phone, likely trying to come up with his facebook or twitter post about the psycho customer who yelled at him. read more

Very disappointed in this store. My son bought a pair of Van's last Sunday and on Wednesday, after 2 days of wearing them, the shoelace broke. Of course, the shoe lace is not an ordinary shoe lace, probably Van's specific. My husband and my son went to the store today to ask for a replacement, not only did they not have any shoelaces that match the ones on the shoe but they were going to make my husband pay for any replacement. I went here today after calling at 10:30, and I discussed ordering two pairs of shoes through them. The female staff member explained that they didn't carry the shoe I wanted yet, but if I came into the store to purchase, they could order it at the current sale price of buy one get the second half off, and ship both for free. So I drove out from Downtown Sacramento to Folsom for this price and when I arrived, they wouldn't honor that price. I was told they could only sell me a pair of shoes in store at half off then order the second online at full price. Horrible experience yesterday at this store! I came in with my boyfriend to do a return, well, could have been an exchange if this event had not occurred. The gentleman who helped me with my return was very pleasant, everything went smoothly. After my return I walked around looking for my boyfriend and found him trying on a pair of shoes. He had a question about sizing so he called over a gentleman for assistance. The gentleman who was assisting was very helpful and funny- wish I would have gotten his name. As my boyfriend tried on the bigger size shoe, the gentleman was standing at the end cap of the shoe rack just waiting. All of a sudden you hear a woman say "go back to men's!" and with a bit of hesitation he made his way back to men's then looked at us with an "I'm sorry" stare. Immediately, my boyfriend was ticked off at how she just totally dismissed the fact that the gentleman was helping us. He said to the lady "excuse me, he was helping me" and her response was "well, he was fidgeting around and his area is men's." Last I checked we were trying on men's shoes?! Anyways, he was pissed so we started walking towards the door. As we passed the cash register she yells "if he was helping you, he can come back." but my boyfriend said "Forget it, it's cool." As we walked out, I turned and saw the manager roll her eyes, shake her head and basically "whatever" the situation. By now my boyfriend was just irate. He just couldn't believe how this so called "manager" talked to her employees and "handled" the situation so we went back. My boyfriend stood in line patiently so he could talk to her. I stood to the side because I didn't want to cause a bigger scene and as I stood there, I watched the manager (with purple-ish hair) talk about us to the customers she was helping. Not sure what my boyfriend and the manager said word for word, but bottom line is the customer service for this manager was a joke! I feel sorry for the employees who have to deal with someone who thinks they can talk down and embarrass them. She could have handled this in a much professional manner. I still enjoy Vans and will continue buying them- maybe just not this store. They just left such a salty taste in our mouths. Do better Vans- Folsom! read more
