To start, we waited forever for our drinks. My pomegranate martini tasted like kombucha, and my fiancé's old fashioned had fashionless...no bitters , no flavor. Let's just say...it was a rough start. We started with the calamari, which tasted like it had freezer burn. I ordered a chicken dish with prosciutto and pasta. The entire entrée was just odd. It was severed cold and the chicken was tough. My fiancé had the linguine with seafood and the entire dish was floating in an unidentifiable liquid .....it was so runny! Needless to say, we didn't want to take our left overs home! This is a delightful restaurant in the downtown of South Lyon. Compliments to the chef and his amazing creations. The food was so delicious. "we don't have a reservation for you"... " you need to spend an astronomical minimum"... "eh, it's okay don't worry about spending a minimum"... talk about a roller coaster... we were stressed, anxious and exhausted because we felt like we couldn't trust anything anyone said. I visited this restaurant recently and was really disappointed by something I witnessed. I heard the owner speaking very disrespectfully to two teenage staff members. He raised his voice at them, and the girls looked visibly uncomfortable. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect--especially young employees who are clearly trying to do their jobs. I hope management takes this as an opportunity to reflect on how staff are treated. A positive work environment makes a huge difference for both employees and customers. read more

We ordered just about everything on the happy hour menu. Food was delicious. My favorite was the Mediterranean flat bread and the steak bites (not on Happy Hour but worth it) The drinks were half off and quite tasty. The owner and wait staff were friendly and really made the experience enjoyable. The owner (and his twin daughter) have great passion for the community and I look forward to his upcoming endeavors. Such a cute little restaurant located in a historic building in Downtown South Lyon. It's very small, so seating is pretty tight and close, meaning less intimate/private if you are celebrating an anniversary or having a date. Our waiter Dan was so attentive and kind. He did a wonderful job. We order the fritto misto and pane to start. Loved the fritto misto, but kind of sad we had to pay for bread since most Italian places usually give you bread complimentary. The bucatini was delicious and very well cooked. Al dente just the way it's supposed to be. The dish had lots of pancetta, I prefer for pasta though. My husband didn't really like his barramundi. I think it was the capers and artichoke risotto. The dish was too tangy and left a weird after taste, which is a bummer because barramundi is a great fish and would taste so good if done right. I can't think of a worse 'night out' fare in my many years of, what i thought was, fine dining. My fiance are new to the area and decided to give the highest rated restaurant in South Lyon a try. We had our hearts set on a an Italian themed dining experience! We truly had high hopes. When we approached the hostess stand, however, that feeling faded rapidly. What seemed like 8 minutes, but was reality only 5, we waited for anyone to greet us. After several several servers passed by, several times, we were greeted by a nice young lady who showed us to our cramped, and surprisingly loud, center table. After some minutes, or waiter came and took our drink order. He was relatively new, only being on staff for 3 weeks, so the rest of this post only pertains to the management/ownership of this establishment. We ordered 2 drinks off of the 'specialty drink menu'; which we know is generally code for "we make the most money off of these drinks" menu. Never asked for a bread basket (unreal considering it's an Italian themed restaurant) or even an appetizer. In the 14 minutes waiting for our 2 drinks (something called a Tom Fashioned and a Pomegranate Martini but no proof was given in taste or styling) we were asked by a very cordial, and seemingly experienced waitress, if we have even been served yet. My reply, as I recall, was "barely". After some time, and watching the table that was sat 10 minutes after us was enjoying their drinks and had ordered another round, it came and boy were we underwhelmed. My Tom Fashioned seemingly was without alcohol, bitters, and any discernible taste of anything other than well water and air. My fiancé could not even recognize it as a martini, in any flavor, and never seen one that was thick. Gross. Minutes went by and were asked if we wanted food. Things went south from here. We ordered calamari to begin with and, due to the less-than-stellar service we received thus far, ordered our entrees. She ordered the Pollo Romana "Roman Chicken" and I the Frutti de Mar. The Calamari came and it took us minutes to figure out what we were presented with. It was fried, tiny squid rings with small tentacles, all with unset batter, mixed in with an underwhelming sauce only on the bottom. Want some advice? Eat some at any El Doarado restaurant and taste what Calamari should be. The food inedible and after about 6 bites i sent it away. No box necessary. She couldn't get over the too thick prosciutto atop of unseasoned chicken breast. She hated it, our dog like it though. I could not recommend anything about this restaurant to anyone read more

This place sets the bar for South Lyon. First floor: Open, modern, intimate, and refined. Second floor: Cozy, casual, and busier with a fun view if you are at the window. Service: was perfect. Zero complaints, nothing but compliments. You can tell they know what they are doing and the quality and speediness of food and service felt good without feeling rushed. The staff were all very nice and helped create a fun space. I loved seeing the owner walked food out and helping support his team and asking how his patrons food was. Food: Started with Double Makers Mark on Ice and had a limoncello after. Both strong, both good. Foodwise, we started with the Truffle fries. We were expecting traditional fries however these were a fun twist of a wedge and curly fry. The portion size was definitely meant for more than just 2 people. We also ordered the Pane Bread and let me tell you this was so good. Dusted with Salt on top, warm, and served with balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil was so simple really was such a good starter (comes with 4, I smashed one before remembering to take a photo). I ordered the Scallopini Di Pollo Al Marsala and my Wife ordered the Fetticini Alfredo. Both dishes were served hot and so good. Portion sizes were very good and felt like they were worth the price point. We ended it with the flourless chocolate cake which was thick and rich. Closing Notes: We will be back, this place has left a great impression where it leaves many if not all to want to come back and try something new. The service, food, and uniqueness of this restaurant in South Lyon definitely creates a new standard for this town. Tips: 1. Get a reservation for Weekend Nights. 2. Visited for the first time over the weekend. This spot is definitely under the radar. It was very tastefully decorated with expensive hardware and details in the bathrooms. I was very impressed with the quality of everything over all. The downstairs is more formal dinning but upstairs is more casual attire and has a sit down bar. The food was excellent! I ordered a salad with fruit, candied pecans and grilled chicken. It was gluten free. It wasn't dry at all and was perfectly seasoned. The bar had TVs so we could see the game at a good distance. I would definitely return just have to wear a cozier sweater because it's pretty chilly by the windows. Wish they had just live music though, that would had made it perfect! read more

We were so very impressed by our visit! 1st floor has a beautiful upscale restaurant. Since we didn't plan ahead, we ended up on at the 3rd floor bar which has a more casual atmosphere. It's gorgeous & we absolutely loved it!!! The food was impressive! Highly recommend the Arancini Pomodora - huge arancini balls stuffed with cheese & peas. The Mediterranean Flatbread was packed with very fresh produce bursting with flavor - arugula, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, goat cheese with a balsamic glaze. Caprese Salad - everything was very fresh & it was gorgeous! We happened to sit by the kitchen so we could see all the dishes coming out. Honestly everything looked very fresh & well presented. Love what they did with the place but there are kinks to be worked out as they are new. Wait staff is new, being trained and have yet to get a handle on servicing tables, filling water, and balancing silverware on the awkwardly shaped plates. Prices are on par with "contemporary fine" / farm to table restaurants outside of the city but does not perform at the same standards. Fried calamari was meh, it was flour heavy along with the fried peppers and the sauce was just ok. Steak was OK, not worth the price and my mushroom pasta was also just OK. Tiramisu was probably the highlight of our meal, we didn't get offered coffee to enjoy with it nor did they come back for us to make the request so they missed out on a little upsell. (Sounds petty as I type it but at the cost of the meal combined with the fact I made reservations weeks in advance; it's a notable part of the experience). read more

Finally!! South Lyon was in desperate need of a nice place to eat. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say thank heavens it's not another Chinese restaurant or pizza place ‍ This beautiful Italian restaurant. Is worth checking out. I have only been in the upstairs bar, there's a nice elevator for those of you that don't want to walk up the stairs. I am told the menu differs from the one downstairs. I look forward to exploring both menus. I truly enjoyed my caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes. My son loved the truffle fries. Just a bit disappointed in the drinks a craft cocktail should stand out above the rest, the basil Paloma had Ocean Spray, grapefruit juice and no basil. It should be freshly squeezed... And the smoke and mirrors was insanely smoky it made it hard to drink. Overall it was a wonderful experience great staff and the owner, Tom is a fabulous man and I wish him and his family nothing but success.This restaurant is beautiful and I look forward to returning soon. read more

It's been a long wait, for the opening of Dua Vino; what's more was the anticipation of a new nicer dining establishment to reveal itself to South Lyon. My date and I came in on a Friday having first tried to get into Lyon Grille. We tried there first thinking that Dua would be packed. Up against a wait at Lyon Grille, we tried our luck at Dua Vino and walked into a full main dining room (downstairs). The hostess suggested the bar on the 3rd floor. We made the climb up (or take the shiny new elevator) checking out the new staircase along the way and finding the RCA sign they hoisted in the stairwell, backlit for effect and paying homage to the former space...it's very cool. Once upstairs, it's a narrow hallway to a narrow barroom but one that's adorned in old painted tin tiling on the walls. At a glance, it reminded me of a very small Wright and Company with more patina, despite its new build. Our server was attentive and came right out to ask us for our drink order. I had a Manhattan; well mixed and with two Luxardo cherries no less, we were already on good terms. The bar menu is small but it hits all the notes. Soups, salads, burgers, steakhouse type apps and dessert. Not frilly, just good eats. The arancini, the steak tips, and the Seafood Misto sounded like the right way to go. The arancini was served superbly crispy crusted with a panko and Italian breadcrumbs in a fresh tomato sauce, sprinkled with parm and with roasted red pepper strips laid over the top. Nicely done. The steak tips were the favorite of the evening. Really tender tips tossed in a great sauce with sautéed onions and mushrooms. Order these for sure. The Seafood Misto came as fried calamari and shrimp tossed with mild peppers and served with an aioli style sauce. Excellent. To guild the lily we also ordered a Wagyu burger and the tiramisu for dessert. Both were fantastic. My only critique was that the burger needed a little seasoning and the fries were underdone. That said, I'd have opted for the truffle fries and upgraded had I seen the pics of them beforehand. You'll want to upgrade your fries too. The tiramisu was exquisite. They didn't actually have coffee upstairs at the bar but our server took the extra time and effort to get us each a cup to go with our dessert. Dua Vino's barroom was well worth a try and totally reasonable cost-wise. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

We went early on a Thursday evening around 5pm. Place was very empty but clean. Food was very good and we had a lovely quiet dinner date. Felt so bad the server came over right as I drank some water so I choked a little and got embarrassed by my coughing but she took it in stride and made me laugh and cough! My husband and I have spent some special moments at Dua Vino, our last visit was for my birthday. We ate at the bar upstairs because we love the ambiance. We sat right at the bar and Megan (sp) took care of us. She was attentive and friendly and made us very welcome. Our food was wonderful and the cocktails excellent. Just spent a couple hours in the beautiful third floor bar, overlooking our nostalgic town. I had the Hess Cabernet Savignon which was delicious! I also had the cream of mushroom soup with a piece of grilled bread... Oh so good! And my evening would not have been complete without the fabulous flourless chocolate cake. I ate every last bite. It was just perfect, not too sweet. Just a suggestion... I was almost scared off because it looked really rich with the shiny top. I think dark chocolate powder on the top, to me, would visually match the way it tasted. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Tom and Rita and their kids, and they are amazing people and so friendly and proud of their business, as they should be. They spared no expense and took their time with the beautiful stonework on the outside of the building, The bathrooms complete with chandelier and beautiful creative tile work, the elevator, The tables, the cool black and white chairs and black and white checkered flooring downstairs, and I love the way they preserved the old RCA signs (framing them and lighting them)... I am told the eight-year-old boy that painted the RCA artwork came in recently and got his picture taken next to it and they are going to put up a plaque honoring him... This is what a great owner does... Takes great pains to show that he cares about the town, it's history and it's people. This is a relatively new restaurant in downtown South Lyon that we decided to try. We started at their rooftop bar for cocktails which had a very nice view and great service. We then proceeded to the restaurant on the main floor and was slightly disappointed. The tables were pretty crammed together and anytime you wanted to get out, it was very difficult getting around other tables and seats (you could see the servers were having difficulty navigating as well). We requested a window view when our reservation was made a few weeks in advance and didn't get it. They wanted to put us towards the back at a table crammed between two other tables. We were able to convince them to move us to another table, but just about 5 minutes after we sat down, there was a window table available for the entire time we ate ‍. The scallops were very good but unfortunately the pasta dish I had was just average - the Italian sausage was ground up throughout the dish and actually tasted like hamburger and there really wasn't much flavor in the dish. I will not be back to the main restaurant but would try the rooftop bar again and get appetizers which looked good based on what we saw others ordering (the flatbread looked great). read more

The shrimp focaccia appetizer was good but that's where it ended. The Baci di Mama pasta dish was way too rich and came in a heavy cream sauce which was not how it was described on the menu.
