It's been awhile since I've been in Dubs and I think they are under new ownership and the changes are great! The prices are more reasonable and they've added a kids club rewards program and community program to help someone get a hot meal. Today my husband and I wanted a small cone and asked about the special flavor and was given a sample to try. We also ordered the two slider deal and they needed up being as big as regular hamburgers. The burgers were super fresh with tomato, onion and lettuce and super juicy on soft buns. Our small size cones were also huge and we were offered cups to keep them from dripping. Ordered a shake and burger. You could tell this is a long-established burger joint where the locals - especially local high school kids - hang. Service was quick. Burger was good, and the shake was too, although I was disappointed they were out of oreo. I got the cherry instead and it tasted very fake-cherry. Obviously this is an older building so it's gonna have its things that need a little tlc but it's so cute! I love the old town vibe the food was awesome and the service was great too! I love that they have a part where if someone needs a meal but can't afford it you just take one of those tickets up and they'll get it for you. Dubs was a great burger joint to stop in at while visiting sandpoint and the bulldog burger was delicious. Family owned and you can tell, they are friendly here, and are here to serve. When I got my ice cream it was ok but when my sister got her ice cream she said it tasted like kids Tylenol with the cherry sauce that she didn't ask for. Not bad place. Been there for decades. Overall teens run the place and it is what it is. Tables filthy, slow to process orders generally. Icecream is goof, but the portions are too much for me. Like a small soft serve I would pinch off half into the trash. Too much for me, just me. I cant gobble down so much sugar and shish in one setting anymore. But place is a classic stop. Hubby and me day date. Had a burger and fish and chips. Also ordered some onion rings. All in all good. Friendly service. Food came out quick and hot. Went at lunchtime and surprised to see it was not very busy. Lots of clean and open tables. We've been there lots of times before but it has been a minute. This place is exactly worthy of its 3.5 current stars. There is a lot of truth here in these reviews but I didn't share some of the experiences. Staff was friendly & knowledgeable of the menu. Service was actually quite quick though the place was deserted on a Monday evening. Food was not exceptional but filling. Yes, burgers were frozen and YES they were mashed on the grill. Burger toppings were ample & fresh. Crinkle cut fries were hot and frying oil seemed fresh. Worth a stop for curiosity's sake. Will have to come back for the milkshakes. read more

95 % wonderful (I wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars but that's not possible on Yelp) As far as the food went, it tasted pretty good I had the mushroom hamburger. It was really delicious. It's one of the least expensive burgers on the list. So the petty was wide, but very thin. But I was pleasantly surprised at the good flavor. I had the huckleberry milkshake. It also was good. The service was wonderful. The ladies at the counter were talkative and friendly and funny. I found the place clean for a fast food place. Nice seating area. Generally it is a very nice establishment. And I probably would go back again. I unfortunately had three problems. One of them I caught before I left the parking lot And the others I did not . I don't want to sound picky... But I do want to let others know what happened with this order. 1. I ordered a double serving of the mozzarella sticks (2) +(2) for a total of 4 mozzarella sticks. I took the meal to my vehicle and realized they only gave me one set but not the other set of sticks. so I went back in and got the second set. That issue was solved. 2. The Other problems however I did not notice at the moment. I saw it later when I got home and looked at my online venmo app and read the paper receipt. When I was ordering my food, she was taking an order from somebody else , she was holding a tablet with info on it , I assume it was an online order. She was using two registers at the same time. My receipt says with my order was $22.23 My Venmo card however was charged $23.06 I can only assume I got charged for the other person's order. 3. Also, on my receipt, I noticed they charged me an extra $.50 for the huckleberry milkshake I had . The huckleberry milkshake was really delicious, but they didn't tell me about the extra charge. One of the older food establishments in Sandpoint. A favorite hangout with the high school kids. The place is FILTHY. Not sure when their last health inspection was but I can guarantee it was not recent. The seating areas are dirty, sticky and need a thorough sanitizer EVERYWHERE. The pictures do not do this justice... just about every ceiling square needs replaced. The benches are sticky and the windows/windowsills are really bad. The floor is also sticky. The food? Meh... I've had WAy better, at Zips which has about the same type of menu. Will I come back- sadly NO. I say this in all honesty, as I am a big supporter of local businesses. But this place should not receive anything higher than a C health rating ... at best. The pricing? Two bacon cheeseburgers, large French Fries and tater tots came to $20. Worth that? I would say no. They have good food but it's way overpriced. A burger shouldn't cost $15.00... but if you want to spend that kind of dough, then go for it~ Their crinkly fries are BOMB! Their onion rings are BOMB! They always have a flavor of the day... And you can buy a "baby cone" for 50 cents and try it out to see if you like it or want to get a bigger one! They have these things called Deedee bars... yummm! Chocolate covered or butterscotch covered ice cream bars! My personal favorite is an ice cream slush! Oh emmm geeee! You pick the flavor of slushee you want...-and they have a gazillion diff flavors... And then they take and put soft serve vanilla ice cream all in the middle of it... Wowza!!! So refreshing on a hot day! The slushes are quite sour.. and so with the creamy soft vanilla goodness in the middle it makes it like 100 percent perfection! LOL! The food was delicious. The service was awful. First, they put more than half our order on some else's tray. Then forgot our tots. Those finally came when we were done with our food. Then, we decided on ice cream. First, she did not tell me that the ice cream was too soft and would need to be on the cone in a cup. I ordered 3 dipped cones. I wouldn't have done that if I known. So, we had 3 cones stuck the the sides of styrofoam cups. The cherry dip tasted like wax. The girl making shakes made the wrong one, when I asked she told me "no, she said chocolate". She then started to argue about it with another employee. Another employee told them to stop arguing and just make the correct shake. Stopped in for a quick bite before heading out of town. Dubs location is prime. They could be the go to place for a quick burger in town. Unfortunately, they aren't. The food is actually pretty damn good. You get a full meal deal for 8 bucks. And it is quick. But the service and standards for employees are seriously lacking. There're were like 5+ girls standing at the counter. All of which were preoccupied- either texting or chatting, one was drinking and eating, and one was scraping stuff from her fingernails. Once I was called forward to order, I was glared at and seemed to be an annoyance and inconvenience. So rude. I will not be back! read more

This location goes back several generation. There is not much parking no drive thru and very limited indoor seating on a small triangular lot just off US Hwy (Dover) 2. It has classic old school drive in fare. It is of fair to good quality as far as drive in food goes. It has much more character than modern fast food. If nothing else you will want to stop in for a Huckleberry Milk shake made with berries picked in the local mountains. They also have many other flavors that I have samples over the years. When in Sandpoint as a guest you should visit this local favorite as a valid alternative to the standard generic mass produced fast food chains. HUGE ice cream if your big ice cream person then I would recommend getting a 1/2 small or a baby cone. The workers are very nice and compatible with orders. This is a no-nonsense, no tschotchkies vomited on the wall, family burger joint. Everything about it, including the prices on the menu board was last updated in the early 80s and that is perfect. The burgers are very good, not holy-shit good, but well beyond your average diner. The kind of burgers you can only make on an ancient griddle. Now, I don't like lettuce and tomato on a burger, because I actually want to taste the meat and I don't need "mouth feel", I need meat. Be sure to tell them to leave the salad on the side. In Dubs' defense, despite being March in north Idaho, the lettuce was actually very crisp and tasty, which I noticed while eating it with a fork, after I scraped it onto my plate, where it belongs. You would be mistaken if you didn't get a malt to go with your burger. The malts are holy-shit good. Normally I only get locally-sourced, free-range artisan malts from an organic malt farmer I know personally, so I know what I'm talking about. I specifically asked what comes on the mushroom burger, kid says it comes with mushrooms so then I had to elaborate and ask about cheese, veggies, etc. and he says it comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo with the mushrooms so I order the burger. It came with all of the above along with mustard and ketchup which I absolutely hate so I couldn't even eat my stupid burger.
