What a terrible experience. My family and I were in Sandpoint today and decided to stop in. My husband and I both had the bacon cheeseburger and the kids shared the grilled cheese. All three meals were burned to a crisp. I can't believe they would actually serve this to a customer. One of my kids decided to be brave and take a bite of the burned grilled cheese and that was all she could do. 3 meals for $44 plus tip...definitely not worth it. We will not be going back. We're visiting Sandpoint and stopped at The Burger Dock after hearing people talk it up. Huge mistake. I ordered "The Tin Can" and made my instructions crystal clear: no grilled onions, substitute regular onions, no secret sauce, add mayonnaise only. What I received was the complete opposite--my burger was covered in what seemed like extra grilled onions and drenched in secret sauce. It was so overloaded that the bun was soggy and the burger was literally swimming in sauce. One bite in, it became obvious the patty didn't even taste like 100% beef, which is unacceptable for a place that markets itself as a burger joint. The staff appeared to be a group of very young kids who clearly didn't care about accuracy, quality, or customer experience. No one seemed to be paying attention to what was coming out of the kitchen. The drinks were just as bad. The menu is full of weird drinks, and the tea I ordered tasted extremely old, like it had been sitting there for weeks. This place is all hype and zero execution. Cool concept, terrible food, sloppy service, and no quality control. As visitors, this was one of the most disappointing meals we've had in Sandpoint. I would absolutely not recommend it. read more

Burger Dock always has a great variety of burgers and rotating specials. You walk up to the counter to order, then they bring the food to your table. During the warmer weather, there is a nice outdoor patio and they roll up the back doors to enjoy the fresh air. This time we both ordered the Fun Guy Burgers. Topped with Swiss cheese,, Sautéed Mushrooms, Tomato, Spicy Arugula, Grilled Onions, and a Garlic Aioli. The combination leaves a very tasty bite every time. We both forgot the burgers come with firs, so we ordered a small side. They are fresh potatoes, thinly cut. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They have a decent selection of beverages including beers and Tractor sodas (which have unique flavors like Cucumber or Lemongrass). There is a decent kids menu as well. read more

Idaho got some great fries. Great taste, consistency, and bounce to it. Their shakes look good but I didn't have it. Maybe next time. The only thing I could see why the reviews are low is because it does take them a while to make the burgers. Took about 25 minutes with a couple people ahead of me. The Burger Dock has a good creative burgers with a nice atmosphere and enthusiastic staff. The problem is the "organic sodas" taste terrible. Every time I have been there I have watched people sample multiple flavors and eventually select water. The only viable option other than water is a good rotating beer selection. The problem is I don't drink beer AT LUNCH during the week. If you would like more local traffic get a Coke or Pepsi contract like everyone else and send the organic soda back to California where it belongs. read more

We got a gift card to come here so we were excited to try something new. I agree with the other reviews saying the burger patties seem really small for the price tag and burger hype. I felt there was more stuff on the burger to make it huge than raving about the burger itself. Aside from being extremely messy - the burger tasted fine and I enjoyed all the toppings but they did overpower the meat because there just wasn't enough meat to pull it through. The fry sauce tasted like mustard but I liked the fries and the service and it didn't take long to receive our food. I'd go back again - it is fun they have so much variety to choose from but I can't see many of my family members liking it without it being more emphasis on the burger itself and being a little larger in size. Well in the end the burger was good. Was it worth the 40 minute wait when hardly anyone was there and the rude service? Absolutely not. Not sure if these guys are just busy all day they have no time to do anything around the place but the soda machine was awful. Cola- nope, not sure what it was. Root beer- funky clear soda water came out. And good luck asking someone about it cause they walk around with deer in headlights. I had high hopes for this place. It was OK but I probably won't return due to price vs value. The location is in the heart of downtown Sandpoint right on the intersection on the way to city beach so parking is a bit cumbersome. There was very loud construction across the street when I visited but that has no bearing on the review but rather just something to note/plan for. They do have an outside seating area out back facing the river but it was closed due to the construction. I was greeted upon entering and the counter staff that took my order was pleasant. She stated they use mostly locally sourced ingredients. They have a unique soda brand that touts organic but their ice machine was broken so I opted for a shake instead. While tasty, I do not feel the $6 price tag for what I guessed to MAYBE be 8 oz of ice cream to be worthwhile. The fries are similar to cut and size of McDonald's and get cold rather quickly. The burger presented well but (this is totally a preference statement) the burger was pink in the middle and my arms were covered in grease. While on our way to Montana, we stopped in Sandpoint, ID. I was craving a burger and some outside seating. We found the Burger Dock and decided to check it out. The space is tinier than some places and gas both indoor and outdoors seating. The outdoor view will incorporate the bride and some water views. You order at the counter so be ready and I suggest liking st the menu ahead of time. If you're not able to, they do have me use at the counter and also posted on the walls. The food was ready fairly quick and if you want, you're able to watch your burger be made with the grill right behind the counter. I went with the Bee burger which had Brie and honey as well as arugula. The burger was cooked perfectly. I do wish there was a little more flavor to this burger. We are visiting from out of town and our jaws dropped seeing the fabulous looking food served at Burger Dock. We knew we must try it. We are giving this business a one-star due to the lack of professionalism and attentiveness given what we experienced during our visit here. My partner and I were here for a total of 45 minutes waiting for a correct order to be presented to us and we left unhappy, and with food we couldn't eat. We ordered two burgers, the popper with no onions, and the bacon cheeseburger with no sauce. We were first brought out after about 15 minutes the two burgers but the popper had no sauce on it with onions, and the bacon cheeseburger had secret sauce and jam on it (jam isn't even on this burger). We brought this to the staffs attention and they apologized and said they would remake our burgers and refund our order. (We appreciated this as we HATE having to disturb the order of other customers and staff) We waited another 20 minutes for our new burgers, in this time the staff came out and triple checked with us that they had the right instructions for both burgers - popper with no onion and bacon cheeseburger with no sauce. we confirmed yes this is correct. After waiting an additional 20 minutes they brought us out the exact same burgers they had made originally, a popper with no sauce and grilled onions, and a bacon cheeseburger with extra sauce! We thought they were joking and when we realized they were serious we got upset and said we weren't going to eat this food that we paid and tipped a total of $40 for! They had no interest in remaking it, they wanted to refund us and have us leave at that point - so disappointing since we aren't from here and chose to bring our money to this establishment and indulge. During the time they were remaking our food and taking in new orders, the staff behind the counter at the grills were complaining blatantly about our food order and other customers orders (someone had just ordered a four patty burger and we got to hear very clearly how upset this employee was about it). To add to the lack of professionalism, there was vulgar music blaring in the back room that could be heard very clearly to all the customers on the floor. Which there were plenty of families here this day. I am thoroughly disappointed, as I never got to try the Popper and really wanted to enjoy eating at this establishment, but I think management needs to take some time in training their staff on professionalism and etiquette for working with an open kitchen. Paying customers who give you business can hear the smack being talked about them and it doesn't make me feel good knowing I am not being heard when I've paid good money for good food. Next time we visit, we will take our money somewhere where we feel valued and listened to. I truly hope Burger Dock tightens up on efficiency and kindness, as well as being attentive to simple order changes ESPECIALLY AFTER REMAKING THE ORDER A SECOND TIME and still getting it wrong. Very poor experience, and for once it wasn't actually busy. usually this place is pretty decent, but maybe the service was very poor. ordered two burgers and four shakes. took about 20 m to get the burgers. king of typical. AND THEN WE WAITED GOR THE SHAKES. And we waited.....AND WE WAITED. we went to the register THREE TIMES to ask about the shakes and the girl literally said "They'll be ready whenever ". WE FINALLY went back towards the back of the house where the make the shakes and the girl said "Oh these have been done for a while". Now they bring the food to you and I kid you not, WE WERE SITTING AT THE LARGE BOOTH RIGHT BY THE END OF THE COUNTER! Not once did the girl at the register even bother to inquire about the shakes. So you know, we kind of frequent here. we are local but our gets were from out of state (they come here every year for the 4th of July). We went to the Burger Dock just for their shakes. We liked the food, and think they may have staying power for this el tourista town, but probably will steer clear in future visits to Sandpoint. First off, their location is crazy great for this post card village, with a marina view on Sand Creek. Prices were commensurate for the product, considering the prime location. The burgers had good flavor, but are following the latest trend of being pretty much a down-sized burger than what you may be used to. Yet they're priced the same as traditional bar burgers--without any accompanying fries/chips--because sides are ala carte, adding to your dinero output. We dropped $40+ (after tip) on what you see in the pictures, with one house red. If our fellas were traveling with us, this could easily have been a benjamin expenditure. Not something you think of going to a burger/fry joint... On a side note: they better figure out how to move the product a little faster than their previous food truck ops. We got there for an early dinner, and as the place started to fill up, we left and there were an abundant amount of patrons all anxiously staring at the staff, wondering, 'How much longer for my down-sized burger...?' ;) read more

It's a love hate relationship with this place. They charge tourist prices and have the strangest hours. Good yet exorbitantly overpriced fries and burgers. Theres a constant rotation of teenage workers in a perpetual state of training. It's unclear if there's actually ever anyone in charge in there. We don't generally choose to go here because they're prices are inflated for tourism and they are completely disconnected from the Sandpoint community. read more

We were really disappointed leaving the Burger Dock this time around. This was our fourth time coming here, and the last time we went my 6 year old ordered the "littles" grilled cheese meal and it came burnt so she just ate the fries. This time around we asked for it to specifically be lightly browned, and when it first came it was completely black on both sides so they took it back to make it again. When it came again they said "that's as good as it gets because our grill is too hot." It was charred and the cheese in the middle wasn't melted (we took a picture). We love their fries, drinks, and burgers, but for kids that don't like burgers I feel like the Burger Dock would benefit having something like chicken tenders for the kiddos instead of grilled cheese-that they can never cook right.
