THE BEST BAGELS I've ever had in the state of Connecticut! I'm originally from Long Island New York. Moved up here fall 2012. Had such a hard time finding remotely decent bagels, so every time myself or my family would go down to LI we'd bring back anywhere from 1-3 dozen at a time and free some. This is for myself, my parents, my sister brother-in-law in thier 3 kiddos. So we hadn't been down much since the pandemic and he settled for Bruggers when I used to have to go to Shelton but haven't been to Shelton for over a year. So no bagels since it's not worth it eating them from anywhere else. WELL... OMG!!! This place is phenomenal! They literally taste like Long Island, New York bagels phenomenal. You can actually pre- order on their website.. They also deliver. I don't know if it's them themselves or what not exit 66 off i-95. My parents live out that way so they go and get them. My absolute favorite or the cheddar jalapeno bagels & sesame. They also are a bakery and have baked goods they put on their website and my mom said they had that. Plus they sell homemade cream cheeses. Obviously you can get egg sandwiches and what not as well she said. So absolutely in heaven will be getting them at least 2x's a month. $24 for a baker's dozen which is obviously 13. My mother loved the pumpernickel, my sister and the kids loved everything, bagels. And what's good with the these jalapeno cheddar unlike the other place I got them. It's not a slice of cheddar cheese. It's like shredded, melted and not big round jalapenos but chopped up so good! I wish I could leave a better review because I really like the bagels. I'm so disappointed in the service. I pre-ordered bagels and paid for them online 2 days in advance for Christmas Eve morning. I arrived at 8:30am to a giant line. Only 2 people working behind the counter. I had to interrupt the woman to ask for my pre-paid order. There were about 10 bags, but a stack of papers. My order was not filled. She returned to inform me that they were "out of bagels". What?!? I asked for a refund which was done by the man at the register. I'd paid $20 plus $3 tip. She returned to tell me they've refunded my $20 to my card. I said... "so I'm just going to eat the $3 tip then?" She reluctantly looked over at the man & said... "I could ask". I wished her a merry Christmas & left, not wanting to hold up the rest of the customers any longer. Luckily Cohen's bailed me out & we're able to fill my order. It's too bad. They have a great product, but no clue how to run a business in a modern/mobile world. read more

Pretty good bagel, not so NY style but still solid. I'd be interested to try their sandwiches but I just got their cream cheese today which was also solid. Cute space, no indoor seating, maybe a couple tables outside though. They take Apple Pay woo! And have so many other sweet treats that are clearly homemade- the maple coffee cake was awesome. I loved this place! It is small but it packed punch! The bagels are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered a jalapeño cheddar bagel with scallion cream cheese. They gave a huge heap of cream cheese. There wasn't anywhere to sit, so it's definitely a grab and go type of place. i will definitely be coming here every time I visit Connecticut. read more

Tried Dube's for the first time this morning. My breakfast sandwich was the best I've ever had: the bagel was perfect with a great chewy texture. The egg was fried to my liking, and the sausage was delicious. Highly recommend!!! The boyfriend says his bagel was the best cinnamon raisin bagel he ever had. "You can taste the cinnamon and the raisins". He loved it so much, he ordered a second. Also, had a delicious fresh lemon raspberry scone to complete our order. read more

Absolutely the best bagel around in Connecticut. I'm from Long Island, so finding a really good bagel and cream cheese is hard around here. Every time I go into duby's, they're kind, quick, and the food and coffee are both phenomenal. The owner is often there, and he is wonderful. read more

I'm fairly new to the area and was excited to try Duby's. I've gone multiple times and each time was disappointed. Ok but the bagels somehow come out very hot but only minimally toasted. In addition, when you unwrap the bagel, the cream cheese is all over the wrapping. So get plenty of napkins read more

We ordered two breakfast sandwiches during the week and the service was painfully slow. The bagels are advertised as New York style. They are made on the premises and you can see them being made through a glass window. Its a modest shop on the smaller side. The online reviews were generous in my opinion. I expected far bigger bagels and the taste was just mid. They have a nice selection of pastries but overall, I expected better based on the reviews. It was underwhelming overall. read more

Freshly made daily, they have a WONDERFUL selection: Sea salt, Asiago, Sesame, Everything, etc! Prepared the old school way: boiled then baked. Has a nice soft medium dense interior with a lovely light toast & the toppings are fresh, & great quality. Their cream cheese is DELISH! I had the chive & it was divine. Today on my way to a meeting, I came across this gem for my morning breakfast fix. Duby's (pronounced Doobies) has an impressive variety of beautiful fresh baked donuts, bagels, bread and cookies! We found Duby's by accident and we are happy we did. I read the reviews and most of them were not about the bagels themselves. We spoke with the owner and she told us a little about her business. This is a family run business, and all businesses struggle to find help so they are doing the best they can. They don't deserve a low rating especially since the bagels are delicious. I got a sesame bagel with vegetable cream cheese and my husband got an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. They make the bagels and the cream cheese varieties themselves. The baker is from NY so I'm not surprised that they have perfected the great bagels. Please support this business. They are definitely worth the visit and your support. We will be back!!! read more

Went in this morning and got two bagels- an everything bagel with lox cream cheese and a salt bagel with scallion cream cheese! Both were perfect New York style bagels- which we don't have much of in this area. The lady who helped us here was super friendly and helpful. Definitely check it out! read more

I hate stupidity...these bagels are great and so are the owners...finally some good great and authentic NY, sorry Connecticut,...bagels. The whole idea of Artisan bakery's is fresh, delicious and always high quality product. It isn't about quantity of selection, the menus being printed or being out of something by noon...come on people, give these people a break and say thanks for taking the risk and delivering a great product! We love their bagels. They have salt bagels and that's my favorite. We have had the cinnamon raisin bagel and the everything bagels. All very tasty and the cream cheeses are excellent. I have had the blueberry scones and they are delicious. Very moist and plentiful with blueberries. It is a small place with walk up service only no tables. We always get the items to go. We are thrilled a bagel place worth coming too here on the shoreline. read more

Bagels are mediocre - I was hoping for a chewy interior but the inside was denser and harder than I enjoy personally. The hot chocolate was also lacking flavor it tasted more like steamed milk. Nice service though. read more

Crisp, chewy crust, soft, slightly open crumb. Boiled, then set on planks, and then hearth baked. Long fermentation matters, the right gluten formation, all builds the texture and taste. Very nice people. I got some great salt bagels and had a nice chat with the owner. They are looking for help so they can bake bread. Come on Millennials, step up and get some experience. Right now I am only reviewing the bagels. They are excellent, best on the shoreline for sure. They sell out every day by 10, so get there early. As of now you can only buy 6. The service they are working on, the people are friendly, they just need to work out the kinks of how to move the line. I will review again in 3 months. read more

Great bagels - dense, chewy delicious all hand-made overnight. Their Rosh Hoshana Apple HoneyCake is AMAZING - beautiful and drool worthy - same with their Challah. I was super excited to have a bagel spot open in Old Saybrook. I have been twice and both times I was not early enough to get my pick of the flavors. Not sure if this is due to the fact that they sell out so fast or because they are still working on ramping up production. The first time was earlier in the year closer to when they had just opened. The second time was a few months ago. Both times I ended up going with the New Yawker, smoked salmon, capers, red onion, and a generous schmear of cream cheese. I had this on an everything bagel. My favorite go-to combo. It definitely succeeded in satisfying that craving. They are not the type of bagel shop that also serves bagel sandwiches of the egg and meat kind. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed in that. They had said they were hoping to build their menu, but this last time I was there saw no changes to the menu. If you are picking up for a group, family, or work, they also have containers of flavored cream cheeses to pair with your dozen or so. read more
