Had huge family get together to celebrate the new year on (quieter 2nd weekend). Staff was friendly and smooth - so many orders/requests that came out promptly. It's an old school restaurant, cozy with no frills. Everyone enjoyed the Peking duck, soups, & entrees - the menu is extensive enough from "Americanize" to authentic Chinese. Thanks and happy new year Duck Chang!

I cannot believe I have lived in Annandale and driven past Duck Chang's so many times but had never been, until today. Well thankful hubby and I rectified that today. I think part of why I hadn't been was I have my take out Chinese food location in Annandale & this spot gets put on the parallel with Piking Gourmet. I can see who one might draw that parallel from a menu & specialty standpoint and similar time frame but they have very different feels inside. First Duck Chang's is smaller inside and feels much more personal. We were spoken to by several staff including the lead chef. We both got something new to us and both had positive food experiences. I had the Sha Cha Delight; hubby got the Stir Fried Ho Fun with beef. Because we both enjoyed our meals and were on our way to check on a friend we ordered her a take out meal, she reported a positive experience. We all agreed we would be back. While I'm not sure how I made it so long without a visit one of our New Year's resolutions will be to visit again and repeatedly. If you haven't been you too should resolve to correct that error.

Excellent place for gluten free Chinese. Two of my friends are GF and are always looking for Asian food - this place is great and can make many things on the menu GF. We had the shrimp and chicken fried rice, the beef stir-fry ho fun (wide rice noodles), and sweet and sour chicken. I don't know how they breaded the chicken for the sweet and sour chicken, but it was great! Very crispy and crunchy. The fried rice was tasty and I really liked the ho fun noodles. But best was getting to share a meal that made my friends so damn happy. Plus, the service is fabulous - the people who run Duck Chang's are super nice and personable.

Me and my husband really meal over here, we're eat whole duck with 2 styles, snow pea tips stir fried and stringbeen stir fried with szechuan style ( little spicy ). They're all delicious. Service is perfect, decorate soft and warm like American style. We'll come back.

Peking Duck (minus the red envelopes, that was from my mother)

Family run business here, I always drive by this place since I was a kid but it was first time entering it in 20+ years of living in the area. Went for my brother's birthday and family Lunar New Year celebration and enjoyed the experience. Small space but doesn't feel cramp or overcrowded, the service is nice and the workers are extremely friendly and helpful, also funny. Food was great, ordered Peking duck, lo mein, chicken, beef and broccoli, just multiple options for the family. Honestly can't go wrong, think the soup might just be bland, but I prefer savory items. Will definitely come visit again in the future, disappointed I haven't been here before!

We have served takeout from here to US Ambassadors, and with nothing but compliments :) Super clean, super high quality food for the price point, run by polite, efficient and friendly employees who demonstrate real love and care for their customers and the restaurant. It shows! The weekday lunch combo specials are the real star here-for $10-$12, choose an egg roll or spring roll (or can soda), your choice of entree plus a side (white/brown/plain fried rice, can upgrade the side to things like pork lo mein, house fried rice etc for a max of $5.95 currently) A lunch special will legitimately feed me 3 or 4 times for the price of a fast food value meal, and it has veggies so I feel less guilt, haha If you select delivery, do it on their own website and opt for their own delivery to further support this gem of a small business!! If you pop into ABC or Giant, call here to place an order when you pull up, and it'll be ready by the time you finish your other errand. Don't forget them when you're sick-their egg drop soup will cure a cold quicker than chicken noodle soup! They are reliably quick, and reliably error free, you can count on them for an awesome lunch option or a nicer dine in dinner with real ambience. Just an awesome little spot While I was getting takeout alone today, sometimes I have my 97 year old Grandma with me, and they lovingly treat my grandma as if she were their grandma, too!

The staff were great and the prices are reasonable but food was ok compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Overall they are doing something right to draw a crowd on a Monday but this place isn't for me. That's just my opinion.

We didn't know how big the portions were since the menu didn't have any pictures. We relied on the photos from yelp or google. We ordered the beef noodle soup with wide noodles (clear broth), peking beef wrap, cucumber salad, braised pork rice, pan fried pork dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, and fried pork chop over rice. The beef noodle soup was good and clean but I would get the thin noodles next time. The wide noodles weren't as bouncy as I would've liked. I would come back for the cucumber salad and the peking beef wrap. All of our orders came reasonably on time after each other but we were still waiting on the fried pork chop over rice. Time passed as we almost finished with all of our dished until we asked one of the servers if our fried pork chop was coming. The server looked at our receipt order and acknowledged we did order it but told us it was sold out. Not one staff told us it was sold out when we placed the order or even when our other orders came out. We've been waiting this whole time expecting the fried pork chop not knowing it was sold out. We were asked if we wanted something else to replace the order and we decided to get the fried chicken over rice.

However, my server said lunch actually goes until 2:30pm. A casual ambience. I notice that the staff constantly keeps their eyes on the customers. Not a big deal, but not something you see every day. There's a lot of lunch specials. I picked the beef fried rice. It comes with banchan and miso soup. The beef fried rice was very good. What was especially good was the delicious black bean sauce that came with the rice. I thought the tasty miso soup was excellent, very rich and silky. Banchan was kimchi, Danmuji fruit and slices of white onion. Accompanying the banchan was a dipping sauce that was similar to, but not the same as the black bean sauce. I will definitely be back.

The dining area is well lit with a kinda open floor plan with a half wall separating the sides. I came in New Year's Eve ~3pm and other patrons were picking up take-away orders. A large group, 15 patrons, came in while I was waiting and everyone was greeted. There were several patrons already enjoying their meal. I love the rice they use and the other ingredients are always fresh. They are generous with their portions. The chicken fried rice comes with a side of fresh onions and I some kind of pickled daikon (I think), a little tart, a little sweet and a nice crisp bite. Super yummy! And a side of ja-jang, I believe that is what it is. Very good and I eat it separately.

Ordered a large variety of dim sum, a salt and pepper pork chop dish, and a whole Peking duck! Everything came out hot and fresh so no complaints there. Let's talk taste though... Peking duck was just ok, very dark in color and did not have that authentic taste. I would not recommend this place for their Peking duck. Even the wrappers had a weird taste the fried salt and pepper pork chops lacked both salt and pepper! The dim sum was again just ok, like if you need your fix and didn't feel like driving too far, then here is fine. Service was great and food came out pretty fast. My one star off is for taste and authenticity, prob a non Chinese would find this place great.

Jang Won has friendly, personal service from the Korean ladies who work there. They were super helpful in walking us through the menu and helping us decide how much food to order. We should have listened when they said three dishes would be enough for four people, but we went with four anyway and ended up with delicious leftovers, so no regrets. All the noodles and dishes are shareable portions, which is great for groups. They also fry their meats really well. The pork was crispy and so good, and I totally get why Korean fried foods are so popular. Next time, I would try the chicken since the pork was just a little dry but still very good overall. The spicy seafood soup was incredibly umami forward and so good that I kept wanting more with every bite. The noodles have a slightly chewy yet smooth texture that makes them very addictive. The restaurant has a homey, comfortable atmosphere, and there is easy parking right outside, which is always a plus in Annandale. The reason for four stars instead of five is the kimchi. It was too salty and not fermented enough. For a restaurant in Annandale, we honestly expect better kimchi. That said, the radish kimchi was good. Overall, great food, generous portions, and warm service, just hoping the kimchi improves next time.
