Very good, classic American pancake house. I especially love that they open early on Sundays. I had the 2 eggs breakfast with bacon. My eggs were good perfectly and the bacon was crispy. I hope to visit again next time I am in the area. I really thought this was a great place locally to stop, very clean and our waitress was very friendly. read more

Service was great, the owner was very personable. However, I found a bug crawling out of my food about halfway through my meal, and rather than offer to comp the one item, I felt as though I was trying to be steamrolled into just getting another dish. I had to repeatedly tell the gentleman I did not want something new. At this point I just wanted to leave, I had just found a bug in my food, why would I want more? Super friendly and courteous staff. I placed a to go order and you could tell the server was "smiling through the phone" that was a great experience. Upon entering too I was greeted with a sincere welcome. The food was a little bland and lacked some seasoning. I ordered a skillet and the potatoes were has browns. I was expecting breakfast potatoes or something similiar. I choose pancakes instead of toast and was shocked it was only 1 pancake. Overall they're reasonably priced. Duck Creek pancake house is OK. There is nothing special about it. I got a vegetarian omelette with wheat bread toast and hashbrowns. It was about eight bucks. The hashbrowns were kind of soggy and under cooked as well as under salted, but I still enjoyed them. The vegetarian omelette was OK, but not my favorite thing. The toast was pretty good, it may have been my favorite thing I ate the entire time. I'm not sure what that says about the establishment as a whole, but it definitely says something. We also got 10 silver dollar pancakes. They were passable. They vary greatly in size some of them were twice as big as others which were exceptionally tiny. With syrup they were quite good, without any syrup they tasted extremely mediocre. Jimmy's pancake house is definitely the right way to go if you're looking for pancakes in the Quad cities. These pancakes were about seven dollars. The bathroom is in the same room as the eating area with no separation whatsoever. As a result the whole building kind of smells a little bit like bathroom, which isn't the most appetizing. Overall, I didn't hate it, but I would rather go to most other places. read more

Great food, great service, clean place to eat. This is your basic diner with basic diner type food, but it all tasted great. I was traveling and staying in this area for a couple of days and ended up eating here 2 days in a row. We were just looking around for a breakfast place and saw this while driving by so we pulled in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to my son who can be a pretty picky eater. Our waitress was very friendly and set him up with a special breakfast of his choice that was not quite on the menu and he ended up being a happy camper. I had an omelet both days with hash browns, toast and coffee. The food was hot, good quality and tasted great. In fact, for diner food, I would have to say it was excelent. I don't know how long this place has been around but it seemed extremely clean (particularly considering the area of town it is in) and well run. Hardly a negative, but there were some rather odd pictures on the wall, many of penguines that were all framed and for sale at a price I can't believe anyone would pay (unless of course you are a penguine freak). Given the history of that area, I think the owner could do something cool with pictures of the local mills and other businesses in they heyday which I am sure could be found in the areas numerous antique shops. Its a diner folks, but as far as diners are concerned, this is a great place to eat. Clean, good service and good food. You can't ask for much more than that. read more

I've driven by Duck Creek Pancake House on countless occasions, but only just recently have I had the opportunity to visit. Maybe they were having an off day, but the pancakes tasted unusually salty and were not particularly good; the breakfast burrito, however, was dynamite. I'd come back just for that. It was slow last Thursday between 10 and 11 so my friend and I lingered at our table to visit, which the waitress did not particularly seem to love, but generally the service was good, as were the prices. I look forward to coming back here and will be recommending that breakfast burrito to friends in the meantime. read more

It's hard to screw up breakfast... or at least it should be. However, I've been to quite a few places that do just that. Duck Creek Pancake House is not one of them, and this is another place I'll be back to try again. I love it when I can go to a restaurant, and order something "off menu" but made with stuff they have, and they don't give me grief or, worse yet, say they "can't do that." High maintenance much? Maybe, but I've literally ordered an egg sandwich at breakfast places that have on their menu: 1) eggs 2) bread products, and 3) cheese and been told, "No." Whaaaa? Duck Creek does not have an egg sandwich on the menu, but when I asked for one, the waitress immediately said, "Sure, we can do that." I was already sold on the place at that point. Then the sandwich came, and the deal was sealed. Crispy bacon, fried egg and cheese on a crossiant. Perfect and delicious. Also managed to steal a bite of Belgian waffle from my husband's plate, and it was lovely as well. The professional service was quick and friendly. Free WiFi and a roomy enough space that lingering over their excellent coffee didn't seem like it would be a problem. Quality spot. read more

Having tried all the breakfast places in the area (Mickey's, Village Inn, IHOP) the Duck Creek Pancake House has been the most consistent best value breakfast we've had. Nice staff, clean, good selection and prompt service. Never had an issue with anything I've ordered. I am a creature of habit and tend to order the same meal - eggs over easy, rye toast and tatters. Very good! This is our regular Sunday breakfast joint from now on. Four Stars instead of five b/c they don't have turkey bacon and don't have any creative, healthy options you'd see in a modern, urban restaurant. And that's okay, but I'd be nice to see something with egg whites and avocado! read more

Our newly 6 year old daughter chose Duck Creek for her birthday family fun day lunch. She wanted pancakes and we had a Quad City dining tour coupon. She couldn't have been happier! The pancakes came with a candle and a song! My husband's only complaint was when he asked for a side of fruit for his diet, it was canned and not fresh. However, I had the cinnamon roll French toast which was to die for! I only wished I could have taken some cinnamon bread home for Christmas morning! read more

This was a wonderful dining experience! The place is large, the tables spread nicely so you're not cramped, and it's clean as a whistle. The staff was really friendly (great example of "Midwest nice"), and the service was fast. I liked that the waitress was attentive, but not so much that it was obtrusive. Great pancakes! I can't even talk about the cinnamon without getting a little emotional! They're huge with just the right amount of cinnamon, served warm with dollops of butter melted over it. We have driven by many times but decided we wanted a sitdown restaurant for breakfast rather than a quick run through a fast food place. Wow! We both ordered a basic breakfast of eggs and meat...bacon for me, sausage links for him...with one getting hash browns, the other American fries. All the food was done to perfection, delivered quickly by a friendly, efficient waitress who was diligent about refilling our coffee. The place was packed for a reason. We will definitely be returning any time we are in the area. As a side note, my hat's off to the owner whose well run operation of his kitchen was impressive. His staff was fantastic read more

I'm only giving it a three because they messed up my order. Not a huge mess up bc they only forgot to put cheese in my eggs. They remade us a new pot of coffee because the first pot they made was very weak. Reason being- they started using new coffee beans and they were not exactly sure how much to use.
