We were in the mood for donuts and stopped at Dunkin Donuts- we were so overly disappointed that we threw them out and Yelped another donut place. We found Duck Donuts and ordered the maple/bacon and the strawberry with sprinkles. They are delicious! Definitely the best donuts around. They're made when you order so they're fresh, slightly crispy on the outside, and warm inside. They use a traditional cake donut, but it's not very heavy like most cake ones. It was perfect. When we went in there was no line, but before we got our order there were about 10 people in line. We showed up at the right time I guess. Definitely check this place out! read more

Duck Donuts is a perfectly okay establishment serving absolutely all right donuts with an interesting quirk. It's a little overrated but the novelty of a very fresh donut with bacon seems to be the selling point out here, although apparently the vanilla frosting with sprinkles is what one of my friends continues to dream of when he thinks of donuts. The frosting amount runs a little excessively in my opinion and I'm more of a less-is-more kinda guy when it gets to to adding meaningless sugar into my fried carb fat bomb. Since it's local, I'd go back and keep buying donuts. Admittedly, I'm more of a sour cream donut fan or an apple butter donut fan (fried in lard and... mmm... Donut...) but when I want my quarter serving of meat with my breakfast, I'll grab a maple and bacon. I'm hoping that one day, there will be some revelation or a flavor that will make this place a truly standout experience. But if it wasn't local, I wouldn't be clamoring to take an hour or two hour drive to have a taste like I often do with other restaurants. I am happy to learn that they opened another Duck Donuts in the Northern VA area. This location is a little hidden in the plaza but it seems everyone knows about it because it was very packed on a Saturday morning! My daughter and I decided to go in and place an order to go. The cashiers at this location work really fast and we did not have to wait long to place our order. After you place your order you watch the magic go on behind the counter--- as the donuts are being made special for each order. There are only four tables at this location, so I wouldn't suggest planning on sitting, unless you come on a slow day. I love getting the strawberry glaze donut and my daughter tried the regular glazed donut. We enjoyed our Duck Donut and will be back to this location when in the area. read more

Stopped by on a cold New Year's Eve day. I've been to the reston area location and loved their service and closeness to my house. Recently moved and thought I'd give them a try! Ordered two donuts and a hot chocolate- the drink was like warm- the donuts I ordered were the maple bacon and noticed this location gave less bacon than the reston location. It wasn't terrible- just not what I was hoping for. Wished the staff was more engaging with the clients and that the drinks were hot. The store wasn't busy, but some how not enough chairs per table. Even though I stuck to the preset signature combos it looked like they had to manually enter each topping every time. Also when I ordered multiple of the same donut they again entered each one and the toppings one by one. Not sure if a training issue or the way the system is. The line was definitely starting grow as we waited for the cashier to manually enter 12 donuts and toppings. I ordered a dozen donuts but requested them in 2 boxes. They wouldn't give me the dozen order price and charged me for two 1/2 dozen orders. That's nearly a $2 upcharge for an extra box. If they want to charge for a box that's fine but $2 seems excessive. If I ordered a dozen and ate a few there then later asked for a small box to-go would they still charge me the $2? Overall food 4 stars, but service-wise 2 stars. read more
