There's something very aesthetically pleasing about running out there late at night during winter or even normal seasons for ice cream. Ice cream here is always good. They do take forever to make ice cream so knowing that, I decided to order online ahead of time. It's been pretty cold outside. Why is this relevant? Because there isn't an inside spot here, so if you are waiting for an order you have to wait outside. I digress. They do the basic flavors really well. Good green tea. The Oreo didn't have a lot of Oreo so it was mostly vanilla. You pick up at the side, and there is ample seating at the benches/tables. This ice cream shop lives up to their name REAL ice cream! I was excited they offer vegan ice cream because the dairy will hurt me badly . Hard to go wrong at a Bruster's location. They are all usually very consistent and this location is no exception. Staff were friendly and our order was made quickly and correctly. There are so many favors to choose from and different way to enjoy them. Cones, cups, sundaes, shakes, etc. Most flavors remain on the menu permanently, but there are always a couple flavors of the month to check out. They run specials from time to time and have a reward program. Best way to keep up with new flavors and deals/coupons is to sign up for the reward program so you get emailed any specials. read more

Bruster's is definitely one of my go-to ice cream spots in Fairfax! They close at 10 PM (later than most in the area), making it perfect for those "late-night" ice cream cravings. Bruster's has a an exhaustive and rotating list of flavors making each visit super unique. My South Asian parents were elated to try the kaju draksh flavor. My wife and I opted for the mint oreo and graham central station. The mint oreo was a delightful twist on mint chocolate chip, packed with loads of oreo chunks. Meanwhile, the graham central station stole the show with its graham cracker ice cream, cookie-dough-like sections, and chocolate flakes baked in. Overall, Bruster's is a great spot, but be prepared for some intense sweetness. My only complaint is that the sugar can be a bit overwhelming in your throat, and the cones could have been fresher. But aside from that, it's great! The price point and quantity is also unbeatable. A small has two full scoops, and is only $4.99 in a cup and 5.99 in a cone. read more

Great ice cream, great staff, great location! I love Bruster's, so when I found out they were opening one near us, I just had to take my wife! Located within a shopping center, there is ample parking and plenty of space to hangout and have an ice cream. I've been here a couple of times and they've always had such a long line to order. The service is really fast, though, so you're not waiting too long after ordering. If you love ice cream, this is a must-go for you! We happen to come upon Bruster's one day when we were running errands.  And, since there is never a bad day or time to have ice cream - we decided to give it a try.  There were lines at the window and most of the outdoor seating was also occupied.  These are good signs - showing that the place is popular - but it also means you have to wait in the sun and find a bench or someplace nearby to eat or do take away which is what we chose.  Luckily, we ordered shake which is much less messy to take along for a ride.  The service was very friendly and, even though there was a line, it moved pretty quickly.  We opted for the sea salt caramel toffee which was delicious.  The only problem was that the toffee pieces would get stuck in the straw...  It would have been great if Bruster's used the types of straws that have the little shovels at the end so we could have scooped up the toffee bits when we were done with the ice cream shake part.  Of course, not having a shovel spoon didn't stop us from going after the candy pieces - it was just a lot messier The interior of the space, as seen through the window, looked to be a decent size and someone told us it used to be a pizza place with indoor seating.  I think having a place inside to sit and eat is the only thing we at all found lacking.  My only other disappointments were not being short enough to qualify for a taste of a kid's cone and not having our dog there to enjoy a pup cup as several pooches were doing when we visited!  We would definitely go back to Bruster's when we are in the neighborhood. read more

I found out about this place from their mailed coupons, so I decided to try it with a BOGO deal. Too good to skip!! It's in the same shopping center as Harris Teeter, not hard to find. They have a good variety of ice cream flavors and other sweet options (milkshakes, cakes, pies, and Italian ices). You order at a window and pick up at another nearby window. The staffs are friendly and attentive. The price is not bad, comparing to other ice cream places in NOVA. Their scoops are big as well. The ice cream flavors that I have tried were: cookie dough, Oreo, sitafal, caramel apple crunch, strawberry, coffee and pistachio. They were good and suited my taste. Well I'm hooked to this place now. One minus point is that they only have outdoor seats so you would need to eat in the car or take home in the winter if you are not fond of being extra cold outside. read more

So disappointed wish this review was 5 stars.. we've been fans of brusters in merrifield for years! And were so sad when it closed for good.. recently discovered a fairfax location near fair oaks mall... we had to immediately make a detour to head there, 1st impression is they are completely outdoors now with windows and not all open.. 3-4 employees gathered behind one window. got my usual graham central station. Wife got cheesecake on a cone... we were excited and were headed home enjoying our treats . When i hear a screech of "OMG!!!?!" I said what? She pointed out a large strand of blonde hair sticking out of my cone. I felt sick to my stomach and immediately pulled over to get rid of it. So saddening after i have told her "omg now we can go to fairfax one everytime now! For example, the caramel coconut cookie had no chocolate, no cookies, very little caramel. Just a plain coconut ice cream. We went just after the store next to Harris Teeters opened. We asked for two small cones. I think they gave us the free children's cones. The ice cream was excellent but it was the smallest scoop of ice cream I had ever seen. The server handed out the cones and vanished before I could say anything. You pay in advance so you would have to stand in line to complain. I figured to let it pass until my better half actually complained about the size. (This was the only time she had ever complained about any type of food or service.) She actually wanted to complain but to complain still meant waiting in line and that tiny scoop would have melted long before we would have finished waiting. Therefore we emailed our complaint. Corporate said that the manager would Email us soon. No Email ever came. We now drive by that store every week on our way to Tony's which is comparable but the workers are very nice. It is possible that we were treated poorly due to us being a bit confused because we had ever been to one of their stores before and we are closing in on 80 years old. They just don't care!
