There are not a lot of donut shops near me so I was happy to find this one online. The shop is rubber duck themed with a large selection of drinks, desserts, savory sandwiches and of course a variety of fun and tasty donut options! It was hard to pick! They have themed seasonal donuts! You can watch them glaze and finish the donuts. They come out warm and need a few minutes to set. They are so good warm but also really enjoyed them cool as well. THESE ARE CAKE DONUTS ONLY!! That being said, they definitely were the best cake donuts I've ever had. I prefer to go simple as it turns out, the glazed donut is forever the best! I did however, try five other types of their donuts. Overall, I found them overwhelming with artificial flavors,colors and they were just too sweet. I don't think I would personally come back here again, just based on my personal preferences. The service was great and it is very cute inside with all of the ducks and all of the bright colors. I was so happy with my visit to Duck Donuts. I was originally going to just create my own half dozen but there are SO many kinds of donuts to choose from, I just got the Dad's half dozen which is a special until 6/16. The doughnuts are better than any you've likely had before, hot Krispy Kreme included, but you better be a fan of having lots of interesting sugar products on top (although the plains are actually quite good, not quite worth the price). You watch them being made from scratch right in front of you, which is worth the trip all by itself. But what has really made Duck stand apart is the very friendly and welcoming staff. Without exception, everybody we've interacted with here, from the newest teen staffer at the register to the owner, has been very pleasant (and patient with the members of our party who tend to need some time to make up their minds). They have seasonal varieties, although they're all sort of variations on a theme, it's fun to have something new to try. We're particularly fond of the Lemon Sunrise, and we recently got a mini-doughnut platter for a birthday party, and the serving size was about right. Arrivederci. So I came to colorful Duck'Do (which I first tried in VA) where (with all the bakery smells, crunching, folding) I felt right at home. It's simple. The cruller or donut I buy is gone before the box makes it to our kitchen. The boxes are the most whimsical in the business by the way. Don't ever change my duck. Keep it legit - true! Duck'Do in Latham even had a gigantic blown-up yellow duck on a van in front of the franchise that day; wish I could have snapped it, because well - a huge duck floatin' around in Latham will get you sales for sure! All the staff, from youngsters, cashiers to donut dippers and management are the best. Friendly and well trained locals. Nice easy-going, happy vibes inside. I discovered Duck Donuts in Tennessee and thought they were a Southern thing, but during a quick vacation to Albany we took a few months ago we were all sitting around the hotel pool (getting slightly buzzed and craving sweets) I mentioned to my SIL about this place I found in Tennessee Duck Donuts and how you can customize everything, so I jumped on Yelp to see and show her the site ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE WAS ONE DOWN THE STREET!!! We legit jumped out the pool, got dressed and headed right out (dont worry It was safe to drive - no one was drunk, LOL) But Omg... Options are endless, and everytime we come to this location, Dave I think his name is - is telling jokes, and cracking everyone up - seems like a truly fun place to work (go check out their TikTok Page - blindfolded Donut making should be a thing everywhere) The Chocolate coconut is my fave, but there are soo many options, they come out hot & fresh and are decorated RIGHT THERE... We found this chain store on a quick stop while we were making our way back home from the Finger Lakes and I now wish they would open one of these in Connecticut. They have such a fun variety of flavors and designs and they make them fresh for you right then and there. They also have many cute small rubber duckies to pick from as a souvenir while you wait. Such a cute donut shop. Theres little rubber ducks and other little items. They're a specialty donut shop with all donuts starting from the original cake donut then toppings are added. I ordered the apple pie, blueberry and pumpkin donut. Ill start with the pumpkin...I didnt care for it because it had pumpkin pie filling on top. I thought it was going to be an actual pumpkin donut with some light pumpkin puree in the flour mix. Next...blueberry...very good! Very moist not dry at all. Then the apple was good. The best thing about Duck Donuts is the ability to avoid lines by placing your order online. We finally decided to try them out and ordered the Fall Assortment - a dozen focused primarily on the flavors of apple, pumpkin, and maple. Upon placing our order on their website, we were notified that it would be ready in 30 minutes. It was! No need to wait in line, you proceed directly to a rack that has orders ready to be picked up. After sharing six of them with my wife, we both agree that there was nothing that jumped out at us to make us say WOW! The donuts themselves are light, cakey, and certainly fresh. We didn't find them overly greasy or overly sweet. While this was a positive, we began to think the donuts with the least amount of topping would likely be our favorite. We saved those for last to taste. Once again, however, nothing was a definitive "buy me again" even among those culminating six. Overall, the French Toast with maple icing, and both powdered and cinnamon sugar, got my wife's most favorable comments. But even the simple Cinnamon Sugar was still just mediocre to me. Ohhh there really is nothing like a fresh donut! With Duck donuts, the donuts are super fresh, and there are so many options to choose from. I felt overwhelmed when I walked in, but there were tons of great suggestions. It was mid afternoon on a weekday when I stopped in, so there wasn't much traffic, but the staff was very helpful. I don't think I've ever written a positive review about a chain restaurant before so this is the first. They make the donuts right there. When they come out, they too them for you. The staff was amazingly friendly and nice. My only complaint was the music that was playing. I'm in my 50s and even I don't wanna listen to The Rolling Stones. I asked why they don't listen to anything from this century and they said corporate decides the music. That's just cruel. read more
