Who doesn't love a duck cake donut!!? You must be firmly on the cake vs yeast debate. The options are endless!? My only complaint is somehow the more I eat the tighter my bathing suit gets. What is up With that? I wish the duck Donuts would inform customers of this risk. I'll be wearing a beach mumu if I continue to go here and order by the dozen. read more

The donuts were absolutely amazing, and fresh! The wait was the only con but that was to be expected at VA beach first thing in the morning. They did miss a few of the donuts we had selected and gave us doubles of others we ordered but we didn't mind since they were still yummy! Definitely recommend Duck Donuts for those warm, fresh donuts instead of the regular, sit-in-glass-cupboard for more than 12 hours kind. read more

We didn't have to wait too long and got the lemon glaze with strawberry drizzle and then Dee maple glaze with caramel drizzle and two coffees. Service was excellent and it just is a little cramped in there is the only thing that was wrong We would definitely go back read more

Really cool concept, all donuts are made fresh to order. They have some combinations to suggest, or you can build your own. Donuts come out quickly and are warm and tasty. I got the blueberry pancake - blueberry and maple covered, with added bacon. My husband got a cinnamon roll donut with added coconut. My stepson got a custom chocolate glaze with Oreo bits and sea salt caramel drizzle. We were all happy with our donuts. I would definitely go back! My only complaint is that they have no indoor seating. There are some benches outside or you can use the tables at Starbucks. But would be nice to have more tables so that you can enjoy your donuts while hot and fresh! Oh and check the VA beach tourist coupon books - there is a coupon for a free donut (no minimum purchase) in one of the books. read more

I know this is going to come off like I'm a Karen... what a great way to start a review! :D I'm not normally someone who is overly OCD about this kind of stuff, but at this particular location I was a wee bit grossed out at the gal who seemed to be the manager constantly touching her hair and then touching food stuffs. Overall it was more unsanitary than I would have hoped for. Other than that, the donuts were ok! Like, we ate everything we ordered! So they had to be pretty good. (We've trashed donuts before *GASP*) It was my first time at any Duck Donut location, and I guess I was expecting something a bit more... wow factor? I'm from the north and when a Duck Donuts finally made its way to us people FREAKED. This one is just your basic storefront in a strip mall type location where they push out cake-based donuts and then pile on sugary toppings. Want a great donut? Head like, 3 hours north and treat yourself to the Fractured Prune. LOVE. Karen rant over. Not asking to see the manager, though. ;) read more

This is a very cute donut shop. The young Ladies were very welcoming and helpful. The donuts are made to order and fresh. There's a wide selection to choose from if you like chocolate or vanilla. Location: one block from ocean and boardwalk Walk if you can, parking is on the street or parking deck First visit to a duck donuts, so many choices. A unique place for sure! I never have trouble finding a parking spot because there is a parking garage located right next to the store. Added bonus right there because your car always stays cool even in the middle of summer. The selection of donuts are not something that you would commonly find anywhere else, which makes this place very unique. They also make the donuts fresh so they are warm and soft when you get them, almost tastes like a mini cake. My favorite is the bacon maple donut, one reason is because the bacon is real and not imitation. The place does get pretty crowded, but they are following social distance guidelines as all employees are wearing a mask and gloves. My weight time wasn't that long either it was about five minutes and that was because there were six customers ahead of me. Otherwise, I'm normally in and out in less than two minutes. If it's made to order you expect to it to be fresh and delicious - and Duck Donuts is! They have a regular selection of their signature donuts, including French toast, s'mores, Oreo, and seasonal flavors like maple bacon (you really can't go wrong with any of them). They're all made with cake batter for an extra boost of flavor and much lighter, airy texture. 9/10 would go again read more

Yum, yum, and YUM! Dropped in during a short getaway to VB. I picked up a chocolate frosted and a powdered sugar donut with an iced coffee before I strolled the boardwalk one morning. Both were scrumptious, and it was definitely the base donut that made them so good! It was just slightly crisped on the outside, and it had a fluffy, warm inside that gave it the perfect donut texture and flavor. The only bummer was that the donut was so hot and fresh that my powdered sugar sort of dissolved into the donut. It still tasted wonderful, though! Sometimes, donut shops can have lackluster coffee, but I thoroughly enjoyed the iced coffee they served. I definitely recommend this place for a sweet treat during your VB vacation! read more

As an out of state visitor, I like to try local dessert/pasty places. O's Donuts in Norfolk was the first place I'd ever been where donuts are made and topped fresh. When I found Duck Donuts was another similar type donut place, I just had to go. I really liked the crispy, deep fried outer layer at O's Donuts; Duck's donut is softer, less dense and on first bite had a different taste. It was definitely not appealing initially, but kind of grew on me as I ate the rest of the donuts. The toppings at Duck's are great because they're unlimited, without an additional cost. Any coated and topped donuts look mouthwateringly delicious. My perfect donut would be with the batter from O's and Duck's toppings. Our tradition of coming to the beach always includes stopping here! Hot, fresh and made to order. We tried three different donuts when we stopped by: s'mores, chocolate peanut and (my favorite) maple bacon. All of the suggested combos look SO GOOD so I don't think you can go wrong. I would advise to only get one - they are super sweet and rich! A must try! read more

The donuts were good, but the options for style and donuts are limited. They are all cake donuts with icing options. One dozen was just over $20.00 which was a bit steep for my taste. I think this is more of the gimmick bakery for tourist that happens to have a decent product. I will say the young men working were very helpful in explaining the process and speedy in making the donuts. read more

As a self-proclaimed donut connoisseur, these were some of the best I've had. Being from the north I've never had an opportunity to have Duck Donuts, but I have heard about them from some of my friends, they lived up to everything I had heard. They are fresh, still warm and you watch them put the toppings on the donuts you picked out. We got Coconut Island, Beach Ball & Bacon in the Sun- they were all perfect! There are some pros in this joint that you can't get every where. The amount of personalization is fantastic. the maple icing was perfection. The bacon however, was bits. I'm used to a thick cut bacon on a donut. The bits were slightly lack luster. I was not impressed with the donuts themselves. They were Cakey in a fall apart greasy way. I like a heartier donut. read more

Never was able to try the donuts, they show open on their website, but no one is there and no sign on the door. We probably saw 50 people stop by to try and go in while we sat outside enjoying our Starbucks instead. Just update something if you have to be out. read more

A great donut shop. We were going to stop at Dunkin but drove past this and decided to stop in. So glad we did. The donuts are made fresh to order!!! They were still hot when we got to the office. Duck donuts will continue to be a great place to go BUT tonight I was very disappointed in the slow service of one employee and the sanitary practices used by another employee. I will say the donuts were quite good as always. First of all one employee was making our donuts and took a very long time while stopping often to talk (with another employee) about how "sick" a Netflix series he is into. He could easily had cut the service time in half or more had he focused on his job. It literally took ten minutes for us to get our 1/2 dozen donuts. THERE WAS NO LINE AND NO ONE IN FRONT OF US. The other employee that was cleaning up took his rag and wiped down a trash can and the proceeded to wipe down the food area (where the donuts are dipped and drizzled) with the same rag. He made sure he wiped down everything really well with the already disgusting rag. :( The employees were very young and sadly they probably don't realize how their conversation slowed things and how their cleaning practices are quite unsanitary. read more

Who can resist hot off the line donuts? We have Duck Donuts up in Northern VA but there's just something about having one at the actual beach. These guys get sa-lammed with customers, but they really have their ish down. They're firing hot and ready donuts off the line and into the boxes like firecrackers! It's a well-oiled machine, and one bite of that beautiful, cakey, warm, sugary, melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness and it's well worth the line and any wait. On this visit, I got a strawberry glazed with rainbow sprinkles for my daughter, a maple bacon for myself (mmm), and a cookies & cream (chocolate & vanilla frosting + oreo crumbles) for the hubs. My favorite donut actually is just dusted in cinnamon sugar -- it tastes like a hot, fresh churro! Mmm, now I want another donut! read more

One of my favorite doughnut spots. Duck Ds does it again.. love the beach ball donut. Awesome. All the donuts are moist and fresh. Made to order. Love how each donut taste so unique. With such rave reviews, Yelpers, I trusted you and found my way to a Duck Donuts. The staff were super nice and the cute boxes the donuts come in are awesome. But the donuts are ehh.... They make each batch so that it's fresh and are meant to be eaten soon. Not a bad concept, but here's where it fails. This location doesn't have seating! How can you eat them soon unless you're standing in the store or take a seat on the public bench outside. As for the donuts, it's the deep fried style that tastes more fried than traditional yeast or cake donuts. They wait a bit after it's fried to add the toppings. I got a fluffernuffer and pumpkin and was underwhelmed. The fried taste was too powerful. The toppings were very much an afterthought. Like I said, service is great. Just a miss on the donuts. Pass. read more

Never been to a place that couldn't warm up oat milk for a latte. The staff, including the manager, were extremely rude and annoyed with us and the customers around us throughout the experience. I know this is a fast food place, but some people genuinely don't belong in customer service. If you're in the mood for some donuts and coffee, I would recommend going anywhere else. Plenty of local places with similar pricing that actually have decent pastries, who won't treat you like gum on the bottom of their shoe. Don't waste your money here!
