Rich and his son were friendly, professional, and on time! Rich explained everything that they'd be doing over the phone and again in person and gave me an upfront price. They used a large vacuum in the basement next to the furnace and a truck mounted air compressor to blow all the crud back to the mainline where they used another tool that banged around a bit and moved everything to their vacuum. Rich also cleaned the furnace. It took a little over an hour and Rich suggested blowing out the vent line on our furnace. I'm glad he did! It was full of debris from some work that had been done on our chimney by the previous owner. When they were done they showed me the before and after pictures and all the stuff that they had collected. I have a dog, as did the previous owner, and the ducts were filthy. They also sanitized the ducts at no extra charge. I will definitely have Rt's out to our house again in the future.

In my case, they sent their senior guy (Joe, master plumber, electrician, everything you can think of), and he suggested waiving the trip fee in exchange for the hour he spent diagnosing my Daikin heat pump communicating system (zones, zone board, etc.). That was $195, and I thought it was fair. The fix was mostly to adjust my zone board directly rather than through the thermostat, and also to analyze my plumbing needs for other projects. Nice guy, knowledgeable, I enjoyed talking with him. For the HVAC work, Joe had to call Andy, who is their Daikin pro and duct engineer. Andy knows what he's talking about, more than any other HVAC person I've talked to (4Front installed my system in a mess for the previous owner, Binder HVAC charged me a lot for wasted time because they didn't understand Daikin systems, while Twin Cities Heating and Air, Midwest Heating and Cooling, and Golden Valley Heating and Air all had no idea what to do and had weird suggestions). If you have a Daikin system, ask for Andy. He tuned my zone board, fixed some miserable duct work and leaks, and better yet taught me about how things work beyond the mysterious Daikin "algorithm." He was patient with my questions and suggestions, too. This work was about $400, which is way less than the $3,000 I got bilked out of at one of the other places. It took a few hours. For the plumbing, they sent Frank, who is another senior guy specializing in plumbing. Frank worked fast, was courteous, and did a few extra little jobs for me when I asked for advice on them, such as greasing a fused spigot and dabbing some silicone on a hole in the shower frame. He also educated me about my water system, including winterizing and shutoff procedures. For the plumbing work, Frank installed a water mixing valve and also terminated a leaking pipe in the ceiling. This work was about $600. It took a few hours. In both cases, they brought along an apprentice, each of whom was equally courteous and attentive. It was very endearing. For billing, there are a couple of things they do. 1) the charge is the price. They don't do the most granular breakdown of costs in the invoice, but they do calculate it and you can ask what the calculation is. It is not an estimate or a minimum charge, more like a bid. The nice thing about that is that it will cost that and no more, which means they are happy to stick around and help here and there without charging for time. For larger projects, I'm not sure if they would charge the lesser of the bid vs labor time, but I would hope so. I haven't needed them for something big yet. For example, Pulse Electric is an electrician service that never charges more than their bid, and charges for time if it's less. I think Krinkie's would just charge the bid, but I got the sense they would be reasonable if, say, a 3-day project took only 1 day. 2) They have a subscription service that seemed like a no-brainer. For $20/m, they will come out twice a year to tune your furnace/AC, and you also get 20% off all other services, which paid for itself with our plumbing and ductwork needs. Use these guys! I love having them as my go-to people now.

Kyle was not too happy and fond in the idea that my household is getting quotes from a few other companies for heating and cooling. "Wait wait wait, I'm confused because you're calling me but telling me you have multiple other people coming in and out of the house for quotes. So what is the job that you need done?" Us: "both... we need the mini split looked at and have the remotes reconnected plus we're looking at quotes. That's what you do to get the best prices and knowledge for a job that needs to be done". According to Kyle, AC and cooling companies "don't do that to each other", meaning the business industry is not a competitive market and therefore the person you call first has to be the person you hire. That's the impression you just put out and that was the most inappropriate phone call coming from a business begging for 'votes' on the quality of your work and business. Guess my home will be the first to say that I would NOT recommend a company more concerned on their arrogance and pushing customers to not receive quotes on a multi thousand dollar job... not to mention how inappropriate it was to treat us like we can't afford $80.00 some dollars to replace remotes on our current mini split. I had an appointment quickly, and the gentleman came out on Friday morning. I had been given a 9 - 11 window. Since I was working from home, I wasn't too concerned. I showed him the washer in the basement and gave him as much detail as I could on what was happening. Not long after leaving him to his work, he came back up to let me know that a part was needed to repair the machine and that the cost would be $75. I was happy to hear that it wasn't going to cost me a lot to get the machine fixed or learn that I'd have to replace it. He left to get the part and had everything done a short time afterward. The total cost of the visit was $190 (there is a visit fee separate from any parts that might be needed). He ran the machine before leaving to ensure that everything was working as it should. I was quite happy to get caught up on my laundry over the weekend. If/when the dryer starts to fail, Anderson will be my first and only call. They are easy to work with, don't keep you waiting all day for them to arrive, and quickly suss out and fix any problems they find. Everything was explained in understandable terms, as well.

After recently having another HVAC company inspect our system, we discovered significant rust, standing water, and damage inside the furnace. We were also given documented concerns regarding the condensate drainage/setup. We contacted Anderson (being hung up on twice) and provided photos, invoices, and the other HVAC company's findings. Anderson denied responsibility, and we have been extremely disappointed with how our concerns were handled. We are now having to replace our furnace and AC at significant expense. Based on our personal experience, I would strongly encourage others to do their research before hiring Anderson Mechanical. I'm writing this review as a strong warning--do not hire Superior Heating & Air under any…read morecircumstances. We had worked with Superior for years without issues under the old ownership. But under new management, the company has completely fallen apart. We hired them to handle HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work for our basement finish, and the experience was an absolute nightmare. Here are just a few examples: 1. Multiple Failed Electrical Inspections Superior failed their electrical inspection twice. After the second failure, they tried to claim it "wasn't in the scope of their work" to correct the violations--thankfully, the electric inspector disagreed. 2. No Hot Water for an Entire Weekend During a Friday afternoon electrical job, they cut power to our water heater and left without checking their work. We had no hot water for the entire winter weekend. Best part - zero apologies. 3. Lazy, Substandard Workmanship We paid them to move a toilet rough-in. They poured the concrete back unevenly, leaving us unable to lay flooring without additional work. When I asked them to fix it, their response was: "We're not flooring guys--we don't have to lay cement flat." 4. Shower Door Bait-and-Switch They agreed to install our shower door and confirmed the model I texted them in December. Then in April, after the return window had closed, they backed out--refusing to install it and refusing to credit us for the work we had to outsource. 5. Lighting Errors and Surprise Charges At the start of the project, I showed the electrician exactly where I wanted lighting--he raised no concerns. During an electric inspection, we found that seven requested lights were never installed. When I raised the issue, Chris gave me a hand-drawn floor plan I'd never seen before, which didn't even match our actual basement layout, and claimed that's what the quote was based on. Then they billed us over $1,000 for the "extra" lights. When I pushed back, Chris shrugged it off with: "Well, someone should have shown this to you." 6. Suspicious, Incentivized Reviews Since the ownership change, Superior has been offering $25 gift cards in exchange for 5-star reviews. This should be a red flag if nothing else--trustworthy companies don't need to buy praise. And sadly, these are just the highlights. There were many more problems I didn't bother listing. Bottom line: this company is incompetent, dishonest, and completely unaccountable. Save yourself the stress--stay far away.
