Had a great meal here this evening. We got reservations in advance and so had a table on their lovely veranda. My daughter and I shared an appetizer and a couple of main courses, all of which were delish. We started with asparagus/goat cheese toast. The asparagus was in a lite olive oil dressing with thinly sliced pink radish. Our mains were an asparagus mushroom pot pie (sounds ordinary but was spectacular) and a bavette steak salad with Point Reyes blue cheese and mixed greens. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, the ambience pleasant and peaceful. I will definitely return. read more

Service was great from the beginning! The hostess was able to get us seated earlier, which was much appreciated. Juan, who bussed our table was a highlight! He was so lovely, attentive and helpful. Gracias, Juan! :) The outdoor seating was so pretty, with several heaters. We felt warm and very safe being mask-free. As for the food- if Cioppino is on the menu- order it. It was insanely good, and I only had the leftover broth with crostini. My boyfriend had it as his main and he loved it. I ordered the bangers and mash, also very good! The cheese board to start was good- honey would've been a nice addition. The salad with bacon vinaigrette and poached egg was so nice! I'm surprised I've only recently tried out this spot after driving by so many times on the way out to a hike! It is definitely worth checking out and getting a wonderful meal in after a beautiful day out. We were here a little over a week ago and the salad offered had goood goat cheese dispersed with mandarin orange, and beets on dressed arugula. Very good if you're craving something with just a bit of quirk! The Miyagi oysters were a special and I was expecting them to be smaller than they were, but it must be a tad overgrown due to the pandemic / perhaps a dearth of visitors buying up oysters. Nonetheless they were very delicious and fresh with the two sauces included, one very acidic and spicy. You get more oyster , but I do prefer them smaller. Having been told by the server that they are small oysters I was a bit surprised how big they were -- otherwise very happy with the oysters. read more

If we could give more than 5 stars we would. The food is phenomenal and on par with the best in San Francisco. Sourcing is good, flavors and cooking well done. Service was also great. We had dinner on the upper patio which was very warm and covid safe. Ask for the upper patio with heat lamps in the back. We also brought our dog and two kids and didn't feel out of place. We loved the mushroom risotto (great option for vegetarians, rich with enoki mushrooms and spinach), the king salmon which everyone enjoyed, Caesar salad, broccolini and the chicken sandwich with truffle fries. In the end we had the blonde and blueberry cheesecake for dessert. Everyone was tasty, fresh and worthwhile. Jaime did a wonderful job with service. Wish I could leave 0 stars. I don't yelp much and usually only do when the service in phenomenal. However, this experience was terrible. Food was a 1/10. Overpriced. Think city prices with slow service, a kitchen that doesn't know how to course out a meal ( starters and main brought out together) and poorly seasoned overcooked food. Pork chop was so dry and lacking flavor. The steak I ordered to be medium rare ( more rare) came out medium well. To top it off I had the hostess come to me at the end and try to explain that it wasn't made medium rare because it would be bloody. Obviously I know that medium rare is bloody LOL I eat steak all the time. She proceeds to tell me that if the meat was medium well it wouldn't be pink at all. She either has no clue about meat temperatures, or was trying to subtly tell me off at the end. I worked in the service industry at high end restaurants, I know my meat temps. The server was nice but slow for a relatively empty place. I don't understand why she sent the hostess over at the end. Hostess left a sour taste in my mouth and will definitely not be back here for our next visit. I ended up paying $100 for two water downed overtly sweet drinks ( spicy Margarita was just a pineapple drink), a cheeseboard that we had to remind the server about, the prawns ( which were very good), and a beet salad. It was a very cute place upon pulling in and inside was the same. We pulled in on our way to Point Reyes and to charge our tesla. The service was terrible, our waitress never checked on us (and there were hardly any people eating) and continued to forget to bring us more drinks when we requested them after having to flag her down. Our food came very quickly but were surprised at how the flavors didn't mix well and didn't like the taste at all. We got the chicken sandwich and Blackened Cod sandwich. I've never seen my husband leave food on his plate till we came here. Food was terrible. Mix that with the $4 per coke (no refills+incredibly tiny) and the horrible service, I would never recommend this place nor go again. (The coffee next door at Olema House was as equally awful. I just hosted a bridal shower for my daughter on the creek side patio. I can't say enough as to how smooth and seamless the whole event was. Paulina, the event coordinator, helped with planning the brunch/lunch, drinks and set up. She accommodated our flower bar and signage. The food was great with several gluten free, dairy free options to accommodate our needs. She also set up speakers for our playlist. My only mistake was I listed the location as Olema Inn. I should have said Due West as a few folks got a little lost coming in. During the lunch, the servers were very accommodating but not intrusive. I was able to relax and enjoy the day. I don't know how the cost would compare to other places. It wasn't cheap, but what we got was worth it, in my opinion. I highly recommend Due West for casual dining or a special party. read more

I've been here about 3 times and the food/wine list is pretty solid. Service is abysmal. Came here on a Sunday (yesterday) at 5:30 pm for dinner with a party of 10. We had no reservations as it was a last minute decision but it was mostly empty inside. We also had 6 kids between age 8 and 13. Even though there were tables they could have put together to accommodate us, the very rude, late 40's something aged hostess with the dark curly hair seemed to forget how to apply logic when seating people. She refused to sit us together despite the tables that stayed empty through our entire dining experience. We then decided to put the 4 older kids at one table and have the remaining 2 sit with the adults at another table 5 feet away, and she flipped. When we asked her what she thought 13 year olds were going to be doing at a table when their parents are 5 feet away, she couldn't articulate intelligently. She was just sour, so we sat at the ridiculous table assignments she dictated. Appetizers appeared with no plates for us to use. The kids ate ice cream with a knife because they did not bother giving them spoons. And overall, the staff looked generally annoyed that we were even there. We now jokingly call it "The restaurant that hates kids". We would likely go back as the food is decent and the annoyed looks on the faces of the staff when children walk in is kind of comical. read more

We were at Due West last week for the first time, and it will be our last. Food was very hit and miss--stay away from the risotto....pure cheesy mush. And the desserts were awful. Cold apple cake /pie was served with ice cream that didn't melt after sitting at our table for more than 20 minutes. It tasted as artificial as it actually was. When we showed it to the staff, they first denied it and then expressed astonishment as they had never noticed that before. The sweet potato flan also lacked flavor. There were huge billing problems as we had a $75 credit from the next door hotel and no one knew how to handle lit. Upon check out at the hotel the next day we realized our signature had been forged on the receipt and a tip added on that we hadn't written in. Our server was very kind, but overall the experience was incredibly disappointing and unsatisfactory. We recommend you avoid this restaurant and hotel. read more

We took a chance and ordered the clam chowder, heirloom tomatos. The clam chowder was bland and comes in a small togo container didn't taste any real clams flavor, the chowder had lots of misc veg which doesn't belong in a true clam chowder total rip off. The Heirloom tomatos not a single heirloom that I could identify. Just plain old 5x6 tomatos same ones used on the burgers. The rest, burger was not bad decent, the brocollini okay didn't need cheese on it. Overall okay food but not 18 for a bowl of warm veg. I say when your real hungry and don't care about a 18 dollar bowl of bad soup stop on by. read more

Stopped here on the way back to SF from Point Reyes, it was the only thing we saw open at the time so we weren't expecting much. This restaurant ended up being the cutest place and had so much charm to it. We also got here during happy hour so we got to try a fun variety. Let me start with a classic food service industry statement: if you are in the people's business your goal should be to serve people, and not just leech off of your location trying to rake in as much $$$ as possible. The priorities here are clear. Both the place and staff are horrendous. Stopped here to charge my car and get a bite. First off the tesla charger in the front causes stress to everyone from the getgo, since ppl are fighting for spots. Some non-tesla drivers taking charging spots, I literally heard 3 f bombs in less than a minute ("as in: "f tesla", "f them who cares") just as I approached the building. Nice. Then I walk in, mind you the whole restaurant is empty, they ask for my reservation (1 person) and they told me I can't sit anywhere. Not even at the bar? Lol? Boomer establishments like this should just disappear asap, and they thankfully will soon since nobody under 30 will give business to places like this. Next time do better, you are for the customers and not the other way around. Have a nice day. read more

Yes I'm a fan. This is my second trip here, but 1st since the remodel. Bright and cheery. Gone are the booths replaced with tables. I'm over 6' tall so the booths didn't work for me before. Welcome to the sleepy lil' town of Olema. It's truly about a block long of houses and buildings I'm sure they date back to the turn of the century. In the 60's across the road and down 50 yards there was a general store that supplied beach goers with sammies and beer. I used to go to the local swimming hole myself on grazing land. Nice large deep pond. Where Sir Francis Drake Blvd deadheads and forms a T-Intersection with Highway 101, your eyes are filled with lovely properties around that have all received beautiful facelifts. I never understood why the restaurant hotel across the road opted for black paint with orange outdoor table cloths. I'm sure it's popular on Halloween. But straight ahead with plenty of parking is the "Due West." Once a small residence I imagine, converted into a restaurant/bar. If I never noticed the outside seating before, I didn't miss it on the beautiful day we visited again. Surrounded by flowers and aloe plants in the front, passing several Adirondack Chairs to finish a beer with, on the side is a small but cozy outdoor eating area. To our delight it was dog friendly. We entered through the main doors and were immediately greeted by the bartender (a nice lady who was always busy - BTW she need a new orange and grapefruit press poor dear.) A server came right away and told us to sit at a free table and Michael would be right with us. They were fairly busy. After about 5 minutes, Michael made his way to our table. Greeted us and set menus. He provided Charlie, our dog with a bowl of water, which they keep outside for guests with pets. He was very busy with full tables outside. So we knew we should be prepared when he took our order. We ordered and our food arrived shortly after. We ordered to share, the crispy southern fried chicken breast and a bowl of the fresh Clam Chowder. A few minutes later it arrived. Chicken and chowder were about $18 each. I also had a stout beer. Their full bar also offers fine wine, and great boutique beer on draught. Served on large white plates and in large wide bowls. The chicken was deep fried and moist . . . perfectly cooked. Topped with house slaw, buttermilk dressing, and pepper jam. Yummy. Served with a side of house potato chips that were also perfection, but the menu said I would get house pickles and I saw none on my plate. The soup was special. I must say I was a fan of the thick New England clam chowder, and this was a tasty break away. As you ate you experienced layers of flavor in this wonderful soup. Fresh clams, fingerling potatoes thinly sliced, diced fried pork belly or house cured bacon, in a house creamy celery soup. Delightful. We are reserving our 5th star rating for dinner there. It will be nice to contrast the service and food. Personal Observations: I think the potato chips were fine but I would have preferred French fries or the pickles on the menu with the sandwich. Not all sandwiches are created equal. The one I saw that made me crave it was about 25% larger and hugely overhung the brioche bun. Mine basically stayed inside. Crusty bread with the soup should be a given not an extra on the menu. And some of the soups around me appeared to have lots of clams and potatoes. Ours was mostly broth. This does NOT mean I didn't get my taste buds tantalized. I just mean there are minor things I know most restaurants do. For an $18 soup, please just give me a piece of crusty bread to sop up the remnants of soup at the end. My dining experience here was probably the worst I have EVER had due the waitress assigned to our table. Beyond the service, the food was overpriced and frankly, bland. I give the food 2-3 stars because it was still decent and edible - but unfortunately, the price and disconcerting treatment of customers makes the blandness of the food unforgivable. (Note: there was difficulty in asking for something small like another slice of lemon to squeeze over the fried food dishes, because the lemon that you receive with the plate is also deep-fried - the extreme hostility by the server [at least the one that we had] made the food even less palatable than it was to begin with). To clarify my statements about the experience: we went in without a reservation and the host was polite and didn't blink an eye before getting us seats. But then, when our server came, it seemed like every word out of our mouths when ordering was met with eye rolls and a sense our server was *seething* at us. We were not loud, rude, and did not ask for any food substitutions - we were both a bit amused and then aghast at how awful our server's behavior was. We ordered multiple items, and BEFORE we were finished with the meal she brought the check and the hand-held electronic card reader for us to quickly sign and fill out her tip while she was glaring us down. To quote the friend I was with, "yeah, she wants us out of here." And after we signed the check, even though we were both still eating and hadn't really touched the [overpriced] drinks we had bought, anytime she walked by our table she would glare. He thought it was funny, I just couldn't understand what we did to offend her, or if she mistook me for someone else. We spent over 100 dollars for a 30 minute meal, and felt really unwanted. The tables behind us and next to us were empty, there was no line at the door - so it wasn't that server was trying to flip tables to get other people in. The squash blossoms and the heirloom tomatoe salad were the highlights of our meal. My main course was NOT good. The black cod portion was tiny, the pereeed carrots were reminiscent of jarred baby food, but the worst was the flavorless, tough, horribly prepared baby bok choy. The waitress was kind enough to take it off the bill, but I wouldn't recommend ordering this. Maybe a hamburger would be ok, I wouldn't know. My husband had a beef rib that was just ok. Overall, I would say the choices in town are minimal, so maybe do some research, or get a sandwich from the local deli. Very disappointed for our Anniversary dinner. read more

We asked for a table for two and were told the restaurant was fully booked (as Saturdays are only reserved for reservations) but we could sit at the bar. During the duration of our stay, over 50% of the tables remained available. A woman that got there 15 minutes after we arrived received her burger 10 minutes before we received our meal (two salads). One of our salads was a caesar salad with ranch (this is what was ordered). We were told by the waiter that he would double check that they had ranch. Once the salad came out, it had caesar dressing. That's when we were told that there was no ranch available. My sister has dietary restrictions that prohibit her from eating caesar dressing. She received a meal that she didn't order and then could not eat. Thankfully, they took off the salad payment from the bill after we asked. As an aside, there were several couples and families fighting ?? The general ambience was unhappy customers and unsatisfactory customer service from the manager on duty. We overheard at least one other customer that had to send a cocktail back because it was made incorrectly. Meal prices were way too expensive for the quality delivered. read more

If you ever make your way up here, it is well worth the stop. We were staying in Lagunitas and drove up the mountain to explore. We happened to come to the "T" in the road of Olema. We saw the sign of fresh oysters and decided we must try them. We sat on the front patio and truly enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server, Joe, was absolutely a delight. He even supplied us with a map and places to check out. The oysters are so incredible and the clam chowder was top notch. A true GEM in the mountains. read more

It was not busy so I am not sure what the malfunction was. "Eddie" was the server so if you happened to draw that straw - run!!! When you are paying $50 per person for dinner you expect a decent the wait staff to give you some attention. I literally had to hail the waiter for assistance. The tipping point was when he brought the wrong entree out and began to argue that it was what was ordered. This place located in Olema, CA (close to point Reyes) is with a few minutes of the Olema camp grounds. This is a great price to stop for lunch, or a quick drink. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger well done, on the menu it mentioned that it came with some type of onion jam; however I didn't see any of this on my burger. I was with company that day; who also ordered the burger medium well; when she got her burger it was really burnt, and had to be sent back to the kitchen. I really liked the fries though; they were nice and crispy. Food here is SUPER expensive. $14 dollars for avocado toast seems pretty expensive. read more

The hubs and I stopped at here at 8pm on a Friday night for dinner on our way to Point Reyes Station, it was the only restaurant in the area still open. The food was good, service paced well, the other tables had interesting people and conversations HAHA! We shared the Marcona Almonds, Fried Olives, Chicken Panzanella salad and Fried Chicken sandwich. All were great, although I wish the olives came with an aioli for dipping, but they were still delish. The almonds were smoky and just slightly sweet. The chicken on the sandwich was very crispy and the bun was sooo soft and buttery! I really enjoyed the creamy basil dressing on the salad, I wish there was more grilled chicken because that was the most flavorful part of the dish. I also had the Hearts Desire cocktail that was very enjoyable, tart and earthy with just a hint of sweetness. read more
